Way too expensive for pretty average nail care. Place has gone down in quality since switching from Top Coat to T Style. Charged to remove my gel and for full manicure even though I did not get any polish put on after removing gel. Manicure was just ok, left some areas of old gel polish and didn't file well. This place has a nice atmosphere and is very clean. Had mani pedis here. The technician I had was great. She was an older woman. The nails were good and neat. It took her a bit longer than the other technicians do. I went back again and had a different technician who wasn't as good.  She didn't really cut my cuticles much, so I felt that my manicure didn't look as neat as it could if she cut my cuticles all the way. The nails weren't even too. A little disappointing this time, since nails here are not cheap. You expect paying more you get a better  job. Not always the case. Read Less

I was getting tires put on my car at Costco across the street, so I had a few hours to kill. I stopped in for a pedicure. The tech did a great job, i wish i got her name. They are very clean, and she got my feet smooth without being ruff or using one of those metal scrapers. It was a little pricey, but I would go back if I was in the area again. Read Less

I've been to many nail salons and usually get my nails done in nyc ( because I live in nyc) but I come to Boston every weekend. I'm so happy I found this nail salon!! The gel manicure last so long and the manicurist take their time. Sophia is my favorite. I am so surprised at the bad reviews, I'm glad I didn't notice them before. Just got a pedicure here. It was a very short wait for a Sunday afternoon and the front desk was friendly and helpful in picking a color. My pedicure was quick and high quality. I usually dread pedicures because some part of it always ends up being painful, but my tech did a great job and the polish is flawless. The facilities feel clean and relatively updated. Today I was asked to come back in an hour for my regular no big deal, we went to eat and came back and they still were not ready. Couldn't even estimate how long it was going to be. My friend and I came here for manicure /pedicures. My friend's experience was pretty straightforward and simple, but mine, not so much. I decided to try gel nail polish for the first time, and picked out a colour I liked. I wasn't sure about the process, but said I wanted that colour for my fingers and toes. When she started putting a completely contrasting shade on my toes, I explained I wasn't sure how it works and asked if the colour I picked would be going on top of the one she was applying. I feel like there was a lot of miscommunication, but she gave me an affirmative answer and continued on. When she finished, instead of going over it, or trying to clarify, she had me get up to start the manicure. I debated on changing the original colour I'd picked, as I'd prefer to have my toes and fingernails match, but in the end, I really didn't like the shade that had magically appeared out of nowhere to end up on my toes. I felt like things had been going well, but when I asked if I could find a colour that matched my feet, after a very confusing explanation that she'd picked a random colour because the gel would be more expensive for toenails (or something??), it became very uncomfortable and she was a bit more cool toward me. I had the toes hastily redone (only to be smudged and completely messed up pretty much immediately). My fingernails came out great looking, but the edges are terribly sharp and the polish feels uneven and like it might chip easily. I guess we'll see on that. I'm not sure if I was charged for the original mistake (basically for not being listened to multiple times), but for $78 plus tip, it was a really disappointing experience - embarrassing to me, and inconvenient to my friend for the delay to fix the mistake. Expensive place. Just ok service. The staff is very friendly. Twice now I have been there for eyebrow waxing and the girl has literally burt my skin with the wax. I have never EVER EVER had that experience anywhere else and I have been getting my eyebrows waxed for close to 15 years. Definitely go elsewhere for this. Read Less

I have two experiences under my belt at this establishment. Both times I got a mani/pedi and both times I walked out extremely pleased. First, prices are reasonable and I am more than willing to pay the extra $10-$15 to sit in a clean and well maintained salon with nice equipment and friendly staff as opposed to cheaping out and taking the risk of a crappy and rushed manicure and feel like I am taking my life in my hands with questionable cleanliness.Second, the nail techs are friendly. I felt they took their time and paid special attention. Never felt rushed or that they were just going through the motions. My second time the nail tech was super informative and suggested the Vinylux nail polish after chatting. Third, the place is immaculate. This is the most important to me when it comes to nails. The place is small but doesn't feel cramped. Everything looks clean. The pedicure chairs are high end and look taken care of. They have plenty of colors to choose from. I would suggest they try and figure out a better reception area as the desk is a bit too small and the product displays are a little thrown together. But that is all to put a cherry on this sundae.Great place and convenient within Legacy Place. Read Less

This place is in a good upscale location and it looks nice. They were busy when I walked in but there was no receptionist just someone talking too me from where she was doing someone's nails. The tech was nice but they did speak to eachother in their language which is always annoying. It was a very quick manicure which is fine with me if it comes out good but it was horrible! The polish doesn't cover the entire surface of even one nail. My cuticles look like crap and have polish on them. Anyway I don't recommend this place. Read Less

I am in town for work in Dedham and had time to treat myself to a pedicure in my off time.read a few unfavorable reviews from here and also some good ones. I like to check it out for myself. Glad I did. The place is super convenient, close to my hotel. It is nicely decorated, warm on this chilly day, and I was greeted very pleasantly.   Kristina (sp?) was my nail tek and was super nice and ectra friendly from the beginning. We chit chatted a bit about my visit and the chilly weather. She was very kind. My feet needed attention and she was there to get the job done completely! Foot and leg massage were the bomb. Pressure points relaxed my whole body. She removed ALL dead skin. And there was a lot....I would recommend Top Coat to anyone looking for a great salon with friendly teks or if you are already In the area. Read Less

I went here because it was convenient to my shopping day... I wouldnt go back! i got a manicure on Saturday and by Sunday night my nails had ready chipped! i cant speak for their pedicures but at 17$ and tip for the manicure.. I would expect it to last a bit longer. While the place is clean- they definitely are not friendly and the woman doing my manicure did not even ask how I wanted my nails shaped. Of all the salons I've been to in the past 10 years, this one happens to have the friendliest techs. They did an amazing job on my nails and eye brows. Their pricing is less expensive than some, but comparable to most others. I would (and will) recommend Top Coat Nails to anyone! Read Less

Not good. I was bleeding from a pedicure done by a girl not paying attention who thought it a good idea to use nail polish remover to stop the bleeding. Went back a 2nd time thinking it was just that girl and this time had my skin scraped so bad I had deep scratches on the sides of my feet for days. I was at Legacy Place for two other errands and in desperate need of a pedicure (seriously, I shouldn't have even been out with sandals on!) and couldn't make it to my regular place in Brookline.  I decided to try TopCoat, and needed to wait just 10 minutes or so at 11am on a weekday morning.I think the technician's name was Kim (?), she was very nice/friendly, and my massage was great. The salon was clean, peaceful music and the only reason I am going with a 4-star and not 5 is the person with the CELL PHONE who talked for a good 12 minutes during my pedicure.  Seriously, it is totally quiet in there until she started yacking... someone should have told her to shut the hell up.And when she did finally get off the phone, she mumbles "sorry" to the girl at her feet.  A heartfelt apology to the rest of us would have been more like it!!  Salons really need to take phones away at the door!!$35 for a pedicure, more than my usual spot in Brookline of $29, but I would return if I were there. I have never in my life received a better pedicure ANYWHERE!  I cannot wait to go back here.  I went here over 3 and a half weeks ago and polish looks like it was painted yesterday.The owner is very sweet and kind.  I usually read magazines when I get pedicures. Ok, I went back and forth about writing a bad review but I feel like I had to let people know. I came in here about 3 weeks ago to get a pedicure and a gel manicure before I went on vacation. The pedicure was first and it was pretty standard. I got a French and when she asked me if it looked ok I didn't have the heart to ask her what all these white spots were on my nail. When I got home later I realized she didn't buff my nail so it was ragged nail she had painted over resulting in chipping almost immediately. I also went home later and got all the dead skin off my feet that was left. There was also white polish on the skin around my toes. I could have done better myself. Then I had the gel mani. My cuticles were hardly trimmed and my nails were not shaped square like I asked. As she was applying the gel polish, she put so much on my nails they looked so thick and gross! There was so much gel on the nail that it was rolling to the side resulting in a bulbous look on one side of the nail. She also left a lot of space between the cuticle and the polish which, as everyone knows, sucks because gel stays on for a long time and you don't want it to look grown out. I went home and reshaped my nail and trimmed my own cuticles. Not something you should do for $80 in services. About 3 hours later at home I was putting lotion on my hands and as I was rubbing it in a big chunk of polish on my thumb nail came right off! I couldn't believe it!So all of this was bad but not had enough to write a review. What really offended me was at the end of the manicure when I went to pay I used a card. I don't know what I was thinking but I forgot to get cash before I went in for the tip. I apologized because I was so embarrassed and asked if I could go run over to the citizens to get cash to tip her. I ran out and ran back, I didn't want her to think I wouldn't come back. When I came back in to tip, the other girl who was working (not the one who did my mani/pedi) said "look she actually came back!"!!! I was so offended like what kind of delinquent do you think I am that I would skip out on tipping a nail lady?!?! It was so inappropriate for her to say that to me.
