Before getting into specifics, I do want to note the following:* The staff was friendly* The facility appeared clean* The price was reasonable: $32 for a mani/pedi before tip.I really wanted to like this place, if for no other reason than to help bolster the fledgling collection of Yelp reviews in the area. I walked into Miami Nails at about noon on a Saturday and was the sole customer. That should have tipped me off, but this isn't a bustling 'burb of Boston, so after looking around and checking for outwardly-observable indications of unsanitary conditions, I asked for a straightforward manicure and pedicure.I was directed to a pedicure chair and happened to make note of the time because I... well, ok, because I mentioned on Twitter that I was planning to review this place on Yelp. By the time the pedicure was finished, I was shocked and stunned at how little time had passed. Sure enough, a quick check of when I had tweeted my intent-to-yelp confirmed that I had posted "about 5 minutes ago". Wowza! In hindsight, I'm almost *certain* that they did little more than wash and paint my toes. The swiftness with which my pedicure was performed was not repeated with the manicure. By contrast, my manicure took nearly 45 minutes, and mostly consisted of waving my wet nails in front of a fan after repeatedly re-painting a nail. The manicurist commented that she didn't like the polish because it 'goes too thick'. I guess the experience brings me to one over-arching question: Am I better-off having had the manicure and pedicure than before I had them? The answer is a resounding... NO! (I know, right? How can that be?)HANDS: Thick, stubby hangnails have appeared along the edges of my pinky and middle fingers. The polish chipped after two days and 'ends' about Β 1/4" above the bottom of my nails - as if they'd been growing a couple weeks instead of days.FEET: Yee-OW. My feet are now scruffy-bottomed and jagged. I fear for the health of my socks, not to mention if, God Forbid, these snaggly beasts come into contact with another human being, there might actually be bloodshed! I've never before come away from a pedicure with feet MORE fearsome than when I went in.Bottom line: Only hit up this place with frenemies, and follow it up with a solo appointment somewhere you'll get a *good* pedi.
