Trinity at Beauty Spa is wonderful at her job! I had never had my eyebrows done professionally before today, but I realized that it was time. Trinity was careful and meticulous, and my brows look full and perfectly shaped. I truly did not even know my eyebrows could look this good. I loved the mani pedi I got here and the salon is clean with great music and a good atmosphere...but the woman doing my nails was rude and I had an extremely hard time communicating with her. It also took a long time! Although I appreciate how meticulous she was, I had other things to do in the day and spent way longer at the Beauty Spa than expected. I may or may not be back. Completely overpriced, mediocre experience. With nail salons EVERYWHERE to choose from, I picked this one because a few different people mentioned the cleanliness of the salon which is very high on my list of priorities in finding a new place to go. We went in, and were turned and burned out of there so fast I felt like I was at a job interview - not paying someone to help me feel relaxed and pampered. The leg massages lasted about a minute, and there was no initial period of soaking - my boyfriend was dragged here with me, and the water in his basin wasn't even three inches high. Our feet were left out of the water in between when they were working on the other foot, never guided back down - we just had cold, wet ankles while we got nail-filed. I wanted him to have a nice pampering experience - against his will - and I couldn't even enjoy him actually getting some enjoyment out of it.It was a crappy, assembly line type of feeling - the technicians didn't even say hello to us. Complete silence, very strange experience. AND $78 to have my boyfriends feet cleaned and my toes painted... complete garbage ripoff. My lady did a nice job on the polish, but I was there for the experience, I can paint my own nails better at home for free. I wouldn't go here again, not with so much else to choose from - to be treated like just a body in a chair, terrible business. Oh, and my massage chair was completely broken - like assaulted me during the pedicure broken - if you're going to charge that much, at least have working equipment. Chair 3, if you're wondering. Everyone has a mean look on their face and have side comments about you an then they give that look at you making it so obvious that it's about you. Definitely very irritating and rude. Got a regular pedicure here and paid $33. It  was nice, she took her time, and shaped and cut my toe nails as I asked her to. She used hot stones on the massage, which felt great! Trinity is a brow wizard! She is an amazing waxer and her microblading work has given me incredible confidence, sans makeup! She is a perfectionist and will take her time and work with you to ensure you have the best shaped brows for your face. Best mani/pedis that I've found in Cambridge/Somerville. Walking distance from the Porter Square T/commuter rail. Reasonable prices, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. I've had both regular polish & gel. I recommend calling for an appointment because it is a popular place! They have usually been able to take me as a walk-in, but not always. Best manicure in Cambridge. For nails you cannot beat Tiana. I have never had such attention taken with my problem cuticles. The gel manicure outlasted my own curiosity and frugality. The first time I had her do my nails I couldn't bear to cut them, I just wanted to see how long they could possibly still look good. No chips, 6 weeks. Same level of care with toes. I've seen other technicians watching her apply polish like they were trying to learn from a Jedi. Speaking of other technicians the very best part about the atmosphere of this place is not just that it has better lighting and design than other local shops, but that the workers genuinely seen to enjoy their day and laugh with each other.Appointments are recommended. Came here for over a year because the actual waxing always came out looking awesome, but the scheduling and front desk is a mess. I had a 3:30 appt and came being told that it was entered as 3:15 in their book. Furthermore they couldn't contact me because they didn't have my number (which I had given over the phone). I was told it was too late with no other options given to reschedule or accommodate me later in the day. This has happened now a couple of times now which is a shame. Wonderful service and nice environment. All the workers were giggling and having a good time. Had a spa pedicure and gel manicure and both were done with care and attention despite problematic cuticles and very short nails. My friend made the appts on a busy Saturday afternoon, which was helpful as I had tried to walk-in once before and it was crowded and I thought it smelled of chemicals that day. My friend also had her eyebrows done and I look forward to having eyelash extensions in the future after talking to someone who had them there regularly. I got a lash refill here. The lady doing them was telling me how skilled she was and how the materials were superior. The actual job was well done, but they did not last any longer than others and cost much more. I was told that the cost would depend on how long it took to get the fill done. Manicure stations are set up so customers breathe in all the fumes. They grind down your nails with rotary power tools and once just started peeling gel off my nails despite my exclaiming "Ouch" many times. Tu is always so nice and professional and keeps the flow of the spa going at a steady place,  without disturbing the relaxing vibe. NEVER GO HERE FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS.As someone who goes to the salon every week for her nails and other beauty services, I was incredibly offended by the service at Beauty Spa in Cambridge. I paid $250 (before tip) for eyelash extensions here and it turned out all I was paying for was extra strong glue. They don't use the real eyelash extension formula so as a result I was forced to either rip out my eyelashes or wait for all of them to fall out before I could get a fill at anyplace else. Also they started to fall out after only ONE WEEK. I woke up with lashes all over my face every morning when these things are supposed to last a month, and I did everything you're supposed to, to take care of them (no mascara, etc.)! On top of this, I found out a woman JUST ACROSS THE STREET does eyelash extensions for only $100 (before tip) and uses the real eyelash extension formula. And the horrible service doesn't even end there. The woman who did it was extremely rude to me because my appointment was at night and she just wanted to leave. Absolutely DO NOT recommend for anyone looking for high quality eyelash extensions. Absolutely awful quality for a horrendous price. Am never going there again. I went to this place once several months ago and got a terrible manicure. I asked for round and he did the nails square which easily snags my weak nails. He cut one nail into the cuticle so it hurt as it grew back and the paint chipped in two days (where I usually go it takes at least 5 unless I do some crazy house cleaning). I was very disappointed because it was also more expensive than the place I go in downtown Boston which does a perfect job every time. But the place is so close to my office that I decided to give them another chance last week for a gel manicure before New Years. The manicure itself was slightly better. The nails were rounded and not cut too short. BUt the gel began chipping within 4 days from the base of my nail bed. Other gel manicures I have had have not had this problem. I am not sure what is missing in their technique here, but its not worth the time and money to go to this place despite its proximity to my office. I will continue to go into Boston. Read Less

I should probably start by making it clear that I am very particular when it comes to manicures. It's a stupid pet peeve to have but it drives me NUTS when I get a fresh manicure but the polish doesn't go all the way to the cuticle, so it already looks grown out.Having said that, if I could only have my nails done by one person for the rest of my life it would be Momo at Beauty Spa. Girl is METICULOUS, her gel manis have consistently been the best I've ever had. Her attention to the tiniest details (like getting the polish all the way to my cuticles without me even having to ask) makes the manicure last for weeks, I usually went 4-6 weeks in between appointments because they looked good for that long. Everyone at the salon is friendly and does good work, so you're in good hands no matter what. I'm moving back to Chicago and am already so sad about having to find a replacement nail salon. If I was staying here, Beauty Spa would be my go to spot forever. Read Less

I have been getting my nails done for almost 2 decades now and very religiously following the same nail tech for all these years. Which leads me to feel a bit guilty trying a new place. However, I am extremely happy with how amazing my nails were done by Tyanna. I had asked for a gel mani and toe polish change. They both came out beautifully. She has great attention to detail and will not stop until your nails look picture perfect. She is very professional, personable and friendly which makes getting your nails done a lot more fun rather than just sitting there and just waiting for your service to be done. I have been going to Beauty Spa for 17 years...but it has changed enough, for the worse, that I am choosing not to return. My last gel manicure there tore all my long nails to shreds and right down to the quick. They also made me late to my next appointment, even though I had been there for 90 minutes.Having said that, I will miss the excellence of Helen and Eva the most. Both are very meticulous, open to artistic designs, and very sweet.Otherwise, I am sad to say it's turned into a bit of a sweat shop or factory, which ruins the former calm bliss I used to love. I had tried to come here previously but quickly learned that while they advertise that you can walk-in, you often must make an appointment because this place is pretty popular and for good reason. I got a great pedicure. I liked the color selection, and the service really just went above and beyond what I typically consider a regular pedicure... For example, exfoliating scrub, extra long massage with a hot stone... Just overall a really positive and relaxing experience and definitely not a rushed service (an hour total). My boyfriend and I got mani/pedis and I got a lip wax on a recent Saturday. Amazingly, we got simultaneous appts while booking just two days before.Because I don't love my toes being touched (incredibly ticklish there), this was my first pedicure, and I can't wait for the next. Beauty Spa really does give you a spa experience. Great massage chairs, gentle treatment, sweet hot stone massage on my weary feet and legs, very calm atmosphere and a giant stack of mags. Manicure was also done expertly. Any other place I've been to in the Cambridge/Somerville area my cuticles have been butchered to the point of bleeding. Here, they were cut perfectly and with no broken skin or pain. $45 for the mani/pedi and worth every penny.My man-piece needed his nails cleaned and trimmed badly, and he loved the massages on both the mani and the pedi. Guys, don't scoff, it's a great way to spend a few hours.My lip wax was followed up with threading, which took care of every single tiny little hair. Trinity is the only person I know who will fix me up with the best looking eyebrows anywhere. I have tried threading and plucking and have found waxing with trinity to be way less painless and it's so fast! Trinity isn't only skilled at what she goes but she is a sweet woman and I enjoy talking to her about her kids :) keep it up! Note: I have been seeing trinity for 9 years now! I had a basic manicure and pedicure, and I thought it was pretty decent for $35. I was able to get a quick appointment, and as I have learned from having lived all over the world, if you are polite and courteous to those running the business, they are more likely to treat you with respect as well. I just had my first pedicure at Beauty Spa, been wanting to go there for quite some time now. The pedicure was a big disappointment. It lasted 15 minutes and it was $25. They didn't even put lotion on or do any sort of massage to my legs OR feet. The foot scrub with the loofah thing lasted a minute at best. If you want a fast pedicure, only care about getting your nails painted, and you could care less about cost then this is the place is for you. If you want a ""spa pedicure"" experience, where you relax for 30-45 minutes and feel like your feet are getting pampered. Try ANY OTHER nail place in the Porter Sq/Davis Sq area. In the last 6 years of getting pedicures every 1-5 months, this was the most disappointing experience of them all. I should have just painted my own nails and saved the $29 ($25 plus tip)... Oh well. Never again. I don't remember the name of the place, but I went to a nail salon on Elm Street right in the back of the Porter Square shopping center, and they did an amazing job... I went here for a bikini wax and had a horrible experience. I never really liked the manicures or pedicures but they are close to my house and I am a busy working mom so I went here. The pain was even worse than others that I have gotten and the result was just a bumpier, more irritated version of what I started with. Hair was not even removed. I went to get a simple manicure on a Saturday afternoon. The salon was busy and I did not have an appointment. The manager did my nails. I had been there several times before. The time previous to my last visit I got a pedicure and was horrified, but thought I would give it another try because they had been good in the past and maybe the guy who did my toes was new?
