Absolutely love K.I Nails!! The staff are all very lovely and the shop is absolutely stunning.... Been getting my nails done for years and I've found that I've had to normally travel out of town because the standards in bath are appalling! Since K.I has opened I've noticed how I've always been very happy with the service provided, and my nails always look so cute and tidy! Would have given 5 stars but halfway through getting my nails done another girl came and took over whom was unnecessarily very rough. She made my nails bleed on three different fingers & when I pointed it out she said "you won't die". Of course she was joking, but I don't expect to pay to get my nails done, for the nail technician to be so rough that my fingers start bleeding. The girl previous to this was doing an amazing job, so careful and delicate and was very accommodating. But afterwards when another girl took over it was the complete opposite. I have cuts around my nails where she was so rough and blood on my nails. Not sure if I would go back; depends on how well the nails last. Read Less

Awful service. I came in at 6:30 to ask to have my gel nail polish removed. I was seated in a chair by a lady who could not speak a word of English. After sitting there and here starting to file my nails she receives a phone call and says "they are closed". Even though the sign on their door said they were open until 7. I've never had cleaner, so perfectly shaped nails than I do now!I received a gift certificate for this nail salon for my birthday, and I can also say that I've only gotten a mani/pedi maybe once or twice before in my life.  I liked it here!  Yes, the workers are a little abrupt and don't talk much, but the woman I had was genuinely good at her job, took the time to care for me, and did an excellent job!  The calf massage was definitely unexpected, but very nice!  I wish I could attach a picture of my nails; they have never been so perfectly squared and painted.  With that being said, I got a mani/pedi and it took roughly an hour, and was told they usually cost $35 (not a bad price for what you get).  The woman working on my nails was very thorough, seemed generally interested in me when we did talk (I'm not much of a talker anyway), so I had no problem there.   She seemed more motherly than the other workers.  If you want a good, clean, relatively inexpensive manicure and/or pedicure, then come here.  Don't come if you want to socialize, or be overly pampered; come if you want something good, in a fast time frame.  They do their job well, and I really do love the way my nails came out.  A++ Read Less

I was a bit sketched out on my visit here (first-timer). Not only is the salon super small and crammed, but nothing really looked clean and the staff were unwelcoming. After the woman next to me got up, I never saw them clean out the foot tub- I'm REALLY hoping they did at some point before someone else sat down (and that I didn't get any diseases in there). The woman doing my nails cut some of them crooked, but at least the color came out nice. They are very inattentive. After you pay they basically forget about you- they don't help you transition to the drying station or even turn it on for you or say goodbye when leaving.  Won't come back. Read Less

I have come here for years to Nina for her pedis, which for me were fabulous. I give her personally 5 stars:). Today, however, I find out she has parted ways with the owner, who will not tell me where she has moved on to, except to say "Dorchester." I don't even know if that's true. So, I leave this review here to say yes, the services are adequate, the price is right, the male owner is not really very nice, AND IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE NINA HAS MOVED ON TO PLEASE LET ME KNOW either through a future review on this page or by messaging me through yelp. Okay, it's not pretty there,  but the women there are really good at what they do, and they are kind and helpful.  I have witnessed them with old and infirm clients, and they are unbelievably nice.  To those who look down on them, I recommend that you try making a living as an immigrant with limited English skills.  I say, tip them well and encourage them to speak English with you. Don't let the appearance of the place fool you (as it does somewhat resemble a bowling alley).I have been here twice for manicures and both times I left with great results!  They were quick and professional and didn't try to push me into getting more than I came in for.  Nina gave me a fantastic manicure the first time I went in there -- I don't think my cuticles were ever cleaner and the polish lasted for almost a full week!  The second time, I feel awful because I forget the girl's name, but she was nice a friendly.  When I was picking out colors, she wasn't pushy or overcrowding, but did  -- in a very kind and professional manner, suggest colors for me that she thought would work better than those I was initially considering.  She was very right with her suggestions!  I will definitely keep going! Atmosphere: Looks dirty and run-down. Instead of relaxing music, shoot 'em up shows are often on the TV, especially when the owner is there. (He is not warm or friendly and, instead of cleaning, he watches TV.) The place is desperate for a make-over.Staff: It's rare to get a smile from someone on the staff. They eat in front of clients. When it's a slow day, instead of cleaning, they are busy playing games on their iphones. Mani-pedis: Nina does the best work. She takes her time and is meticulous. I'm not convinced that this place is not a brothel.That said, you get what you pay for: $35 for a mani-pedi? Pretty cheap, I'll take it. Although, as I'm thinking about the review I want to write, I'm simultaneously questioning my decision to patronize this place. So I'll leave with this: the workmanship is decent and fast; you can be in and out with your nails fully done in about 35-40 minutes (unheard of!). BUT be sure to stop by the conveniently located CVS or Walgreens on Harvard Street to pick up some hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol. It's just the smart thing to do. Read Less

Nouveau Nails is so average in so many ways: the lackluster environment, the owner/manager who plays games on his iphone, the lack of conversation, the somewhat expensive prices, etc, etc. I wouldn't normally go back EXCEPT that..I got a manicure and pedicure with Kelly whose work and friendliness is bar none. She makes all the difference. If it weren't for her, I probably would not come back. She's done my nails three times now, and each time, she listens to my requests, asks if I'm happy with the result and while she's doing my nails, and remembers the little things I've told her in previous conversations. Plus, for whatever reason, her French pedicures last for a long time! Bottom line: make an appointment with Kelly only (or your own favorite manicurist/pedicurist there), because I can't really see what's so much better about this salon over other places that provide the same services. Kelly does a fabulous job, I've lived in Brookline for a long time and finally found someone who does exactly what I want. Last time I got my nails done she put a design on (was my bday) and it stayed perfect for 6 day, unheard for me. While the workmanship here was ok, the whole experience was just blah. I went in for a manicure, got the usual pick a color, then sat down. The stations were old and run down, there are only 2 of them when there are about 6 pedicure stations on the left. The girl who did my nails did an ok job. She did my cuticles painlessly and the polish came out nice. The whole manicure she was just not personable though. She did not say one word except for when it came time to pay. She did joke around to her other salon peeps in their language the whole time. So tacky and quite a turnoff when you know they are looking at you and the other customers while they talk. There was another gentleman in there, maybe the owner, who was hanging out with his shoes off sitting in the pedicure chairs-kind of unprofessional. I wouldn't go back. The place could use some modernization. It was not vented enough, it reeked of acrylics and the dryers were so loud. It didn't look like the cleanest place either. Read Less

I go to Nouveau Nails a lot because it is convenient to my apartment. Though the decor is admittedly not the best, I think the women there do a fabulous job, especially on pedicures. I have had acrylic nails for about two years plus now. Before you judge me: I get them done because if I didn't I would chew my nails, my cuticles and my lips. I know gross, right? Hence why I have my nails did every 2-3 weeks.Since I moved from C-Bus, OH I've been trying to find a good nail salon. For as many as there are in Brookline/Allston/Boston I have not found one as amazing as the salon I used to have in Columbus. Then I had an epiphany.I made an appointment at Millennium Nails on Harvard St at 9:30 in the morning. I arrive there at 9:25 and they are not open. And it wasn't like there were people milling around and they just hadn't opened their doors yet (the hours posted said they opened at 9) no. There was no one there. At. All. Frustrated, annoyed and bitchy I stormed off.A few hours later I just decided to call Nouveau. I'd been here a couple times before and when I had them done, they were really good. I've stormed out of here a couple times prob due to low blood sugar and the size of the place (it's really really small!). But, for acrylics Lisa does an amazing job.I had pink and whites done in Ohio but I didn't really want them done again, I'd rather just get a regular fill. Lisa was really helpful and listened to what I wanted. She made my nails look great and didn't charge me an arm and a leg like I thought she would.I've never been for a pedicure or anything besides acrylics. But, I think it's safe to say if you need a fill go to Nouveau. Oh, and make an appointment! It's really small and they fill up quick! Read Less

Go to Nouveau Nails if you want jacked up toes that require a visit to the podiatrist and antibiotics.  This is the truth.  A day after getting a pedicure from Nouveau Nails I started feeling this pain in my big toe.  Sort of throbbing and when I touched the toe it was very tender and some sort of puss came out of it.  After gagging over this I called my PCP who sent me directly to a podiatrist.  It looked like a piece of my skin on the toe has been clipped, but I wasn't sure.  Two days later I'm in to see the podiatrist  and it turns out I had an infection (explains the puss), and my toenail was discolored and nasty.  I had to go on a course of antibiotics, go back to the podiatrist on two other occasions to have the nail reshaped and it was really a bad experience.  I vow never to go back to that place again.  I went because it was cheap and convenient, but after paying x3 office visit copays to the podiatrist, missing work (thus being forced to use "vacation time") I can say that this was probably the most expensive and worst pedicure of my life.  I strongly caution you on going to Nouveau Nails. One of my coworkers admitted that she had never had a pedicure before.  GASP!  So, three of us decided it was time to take her for one, for the first time.  Nouveau Nails was great!  All four of us got our nails done at the same time (we had an appointment) and the store was quiet and relaxing.  We kind of took over.  The staff was friendly, and we all ended up with cute lil' piggies.  Even our first-timer is now hooked (and wants to go back for a manicure).
