I absolutely love this place! It’s in a quaint little spot In Brookline and you might almost miss it if you don’t look close. But I’m so glad I found a reliable and consistent nail and brow service. I’ve been seeing Anu four years now when the place was owned by a different brand. I love that I can pretty much get walk in or same day service especially when I’m in a run. Anu is the brow QUEEN and I only trust her to touch them at this point. The place is always clean and has a great high class feel. I usually get my brows done by a very stern and possessive lady in NY who hates when I go to anyone else because the she has to fix the mess. I was in Boston for a family function and needed a clean up and my sister brought me to Anu at Glo and for the first time in the 13 years I've been going to my regular lady, someone did an amazing job that even my possessive lady couldn't complain about!! Anu took her time and listened to what I wanted and didn't mess up what took years to perfect! Sometimes when my usual lady is in a rush I leave with red marks all over my upper lip area and I was grateful that Anu took her time and I had very little redness. Glo Studios is under different management, the place is very clean, welcoming, and the staff is pleasant and friendly. This studio has very attentive staff to tailor to whatever your needs are, they offer a variety of services, nails, facial, threading, henna, lashes, waxing. I've been going to Anu ever since she got her license! If you haven't tried doing your lashes or brows, it could really change your life! Went in for eyebrow waxing... the lady convinced me to get them threaded... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING... I had been skeptical of threading for a while due to prior freak experiences... Um yes! I'm leaving a mani pedi and I love this place. I remember when they used to be Minilux and I was glad to learn all of the same staff are there now that's it's an independent business. I love how clean the place is and just in general the feelings of a deluxe experience compared to your run of mill nail place. No yelling from technician to technician, they offer water, tea, and coffee as well. Do yourself a favor and go see Loan or My, they detail oriented and it shouldn't be any other way! Read Less

This is my favorite nails place by far in Boston. It used to be a Miniluxe and it has all of the great parts of that salon (cleanliness, professionalism, class) without the factory-like atmosphere. For the last four years at Glo I have had excellent nail and threading/waxing services at reasonable prices and truly feel relaxed leaving there. The technicians are highly experienced and super friendly and kind. And Monday - Wednesday everything is 20% off! This place is fabulous. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area. I started at Glo when it opened as Minluxe and have gone there regularly since then.  I have found the studio to be fabulously  clean - they either sterilize their equipment or use single use items.  The staff are lovely and I have been a happy pedi, mani and wax customer.  My favorite technician is Phan. She is lovely and a perfectionist.  I just had my first gel mani and it lasted over two weeks.  Ok it was time for it to come off, but I was blown away by how long it looked good and unchipped. Not too happy with my experience at Glo. I went for the first time last Wednesday (a week ago). All of my gels are currently off right now. Definitely not worth the price that I paid, especially because they did not even last a week. The studio itself was very nice, and the service was great. But the manicure itself is horrible. I have been going to Glo Studios for months now and am thoroughly satisfied with the level of service I receive. The staff is friendly and helpful. The tools they use are autoclaved in individual sealed pouches. It's a nice, clean, quiet space with lots of service options. I've gotten gel mani/pedis every time and they last a minimum of 2 weeks every time. I highly recommend this place! Read Less

There's barely any difference between now and when Glo was Miniluxe, in a good way... you get the same set-up (FYI no massage chairs), same great polish selection, same kind and professional staff members, same level of obsessive cleanliness/sanitariness, same prices, and same online booking. I'm a fan.The tech still needs a little smoothing out though... there are a few glitches and errors on the website, and I got duplicate confirmation emails (one right after I booked, and one the day before, which I suspect was meant to be a reminder email but was a duplicate of the original).--Previous review from 2014 when it was called Miniluxe, most of which still holds:The sheer fact that you can book online ahead of time, for an exact time with the exact services you want, and even select your preferred technician, is enough to make me a fan. But then you add in the fact that this place is sparkling clean, with friendly staff (where else do you have the receptionist calling to suggest an available time you might have overlooked?), who you can actually clearly communicate well with (no offense to the non-native English speakers, but I've had a lot lost in translation in the past which is not ideal) means I can see myself returning.I had previously been a fan of NailBar but didn't have the time to get all the way over there from Coolidge, so I decided to check out this place which is closer. I had the salon almost to myself because I came straight from work on a weekday, and it was a pretty relaxing experience. I was greeted with a glass of water, and the receptionist was kind enough to walk me through how things work here (here's the polish wall, etc), and they had some great colors to choose from. Annie did my mani and she was sweet and gentle, and H Phan did my pedi and was thorough and attentive; I'd recommend them both, especially since they seemed just fine with me preferring to drift off into space rather than carry on small talk.Now, the salon wasn't perfect; it is indeed more expensive than most places, yet the result is pretty standard/comparable (with no massage chairs!), so I leave it up to you to decide whether the extra cost is worth it. To begin with, my nails had average staying power: my mani lasted like 3-4 days before some small chips started happening (5-6 days until noticeably big chips), and my pedi is still going strong a week later. Also, the actual finished polish job was pretty standard; both nail sets look pretty solid in general and I have little to complain about, but definitely not absolute perfection in case that's what you're expecting at these prices (like, if you scrutinize up close, the polish doesn't line up perfectly with the nail bed, etc... not something I really care about, but if you do, just be aware). So, I'm a happy client, and would recommend. NailBar's prices are now comparable to MiniLuxe's, and both have what I'm looking for in terms of cleanliness/sterilization/polish color/execution, but the online booking system really tips the scales in this place's favor... it's amazing how that one little thing can make all the difference... I have been going to this location for over 5 years, back when it was a Miniluxe franchise and have been back several times since they went independent as Glo Studios in the fall of 2016. I love this nail salon. They do such a great job; the technicians are professional, careful and never nick my nails. My regular manicures last for a full week and my gel lasts for two - and I am not a careful person. I don't usually bother booking with a specific person because they all do a great job. I love getting pedicures from Katie - I am prone to ingrown toenails, and she does an amazing job at preventing them and making me comfortable! Had a bad experience here on my first visit following the switch to "Glo Studios" from Miniluxe. The person who I scheduled with on the phone was unprofessional and messed up my appointment details twice on the phone (Pedicures? No, manicures. 12pm? No, 6pm, etc. It took awhile.), then I got an email confirmation for the wrong time, despite having to go over it on the phone multiple times and wait for the person to take down all of my information (full name, phone number, friend's full name, phone number). It was irritating, but I hoped for the best when I showed up. My friend was kept waiting for 20 minutes past her appointment time, and we had to ask multiple times where her manicurist was before the tech came over to start her manicure. While I was a little confused to see that this location was still open, I am happy to say that Glo Studios hasn't changed much due to their recent separation with the Miniluxe brand. To further explain, I received an email from Miniluxe saying they were moving locations, so I was under the impression that would mean existing staff, appointments etc. I was also under the impression that the studio would be closed during the two week period they were moving, which would impact my appointment.Glo Studios hasn't changed much from the original concept, except the loyalty program is different and they don't carry Miniluxe products (no big deal). Most of the original staff is still there. I recently got a French gel manicure and pedicure from Loan. She does a good job of taking her time with each nail and is precise. I love my French gel! They also sterilize the tools in the autoclave after each use. They have a good assortment of nail polish - mostly OPI and Essie, but some Zoya. I just hope Glo Studios retains most of its original customer base because, like I said, the email I got from Miniluxe left me with the impression that no salon would exist at this location. One suggestion is I wish there was better communication from Glo that there would be no impact on existing appointments. Read Less
