I wanted to try somewhere new for my nails so I called into the salon yesterday to make an enquiry. As I walked in I got greeted by ‘have you got an appointment?’ at this point I was a little bit shocked at the way I wasn’t even greeted in a friendly or professional way. I then told the lady that I was just popping in for an enquiry she replied ‘I know we don’t look busy but we are’ at this point I didn’t feel like I wanted to even make my enquiry anymore as I felt like whoever spoke to me was damn right rude. The lady didn’t even make eye contact with me, was just looking down at a book writing things whilst talking to me. Overall I had a really positive experience here. I came in on a quiet Monday afternoon. The place was empty and they were able to see me right away.  Color selection was meh, strong on nudes, reds, and pinks but only so so for funky colors.  I wound up going with one of the regular nail polishes that has a small up charge.  I believe there similar to the Essie "gels" that are sold in CVS and can be taken off with regular remover at home.  The manicure has lasted really well. It was a week and a half ago and it still looks fairly passable, with only a few really small chips, and one big one I got a few days ago when I broke my nail (my own fault, I'm accident prone).  I do paint over my manicures with Essie gel top coat every 3 days or so and it really helps the color last. Called ahead around 3pm on a Thursday and they said to come in any time. At around 4, I arrived and they told me it would be a 10 minute wait. After 25 minutes, they said 5 more minutes. Meanwhile they had me sit in one of the pedicure chairs with no water in the foot bath. The chair massage feature was broken and the chair had metal pieces poking out. For those getting their toes done, the foot baths were lined with gross shower-cap-looking liners. Just had my nails Done by the lovely Sarah. I am a nail biter and yet she always makes my nails looks fantastic. Hospitality is great, enjoyed a nice cup of coffee in the relaxed yet stylish atmosphere. The other staff are so friendly too, greated me upon arrival and said goodbye when I left. It's a good option for a quick, cheap, decent manicure. Got a shellac in about 20 mins for $25 plus tip. Service is kind of impatient so if you know you want already, that's fine. Not very good with details, had to ask mine to go back and fix some stuff. Eventually she just kept saying that's okay that's okay. Edges were uneven, but general good overlook. Just recently moved to the Brookline area and wasn't in the mood to commute all the way to the north end of Boston where I normally get my nails done, and boy do I wish I waited. This has to be the worst nail salon in the city and I've had the misfortune of going to many bad places. I came in asking for an acrylic full set and was told to wait 10 minutes... no biggie. When it came to be my turn the first girl rushed through to glue the tips on my nails. Then she had me wait THIRTY MINUTES before she came back to apply the acrylic, of which she half assed and was un even and misshapen. What was supposed to be a 1 hour manicure took two and a half hours, not to mention, not even 3 days after this poor excuse for a manicure, my nails started lifting. I would not recommend this place to anyone. On first glance it doesn't even seem that clean. In addition, my friends and I made an appointment to come in at 5:30 for 3 gel manicures and 1 pedicure. By 6:15 we still were not seen yet. The people working continued to accept walk ins and make us wait. They had my friend go and soak her feet for 20 minutes before anyone even came over. We got so fed up with the lack of care and service that we left. Only then did the people want to seat us immediately. I got a french gel pedicure. It cost $50, which seems overpriced to me. The stylist used a nail file that was definitely old and gross, which made me uncomfortable. My french tips are a little sloppy and there's a tiny spot of my old nail polish that wasn't removed, but these issues are not noticeable unless my nails are more closely examined. Tried this place for the first time today and overall had a great experience! I was a walk-in and they took me within a few minutes. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I don't think they used new/sanitized equipment. The place is clean, but I can't say they use new stuff each time. I would have to pay more attention next time. My nails are pretty short at the moment and she made sure there was no extra gel on my skin after she was finished. The gel is even and looks perfect! And for my toes, she did a great job with the French I asked for. The white is even and there's no polish on my skin. I'll definitely be coming back! Read Less

I don't have time to have my nails done regularly anymore but when I do I also go to Beau Monde. Their customer service is second to none and they always do my nails to the highest standard. I'm always made to feel that I'm just as important as the regular customers & adore the attention to detail. Keep up the good work ladies! Read Less

The overall experience was OK'ish but my nails got smudged (waited in the saloon for 15min) +20min waiting in my car to dry!!!. The saloon doesn't have hand dryers,only the Shellac ones. Why?!? Sorry,would not recommend it...what a waste of time! Read Less

Wanted to try somewhere new so booked here after finding rob facebook. My nails has very hard gel on so was a bit of a mission to remove but the lady did it well! The paint job (shellac) was very standard to poor. There were parts of my natural nail you could still see, bumps in the shellac and it was painted extremely close to my cuticle which means a couple of nails started peeling. I have been to this salon twice for a gel manicure. It is a no frills nail salon, appeared clean but nothing remarkable. The women were kind of rude but my manicure was $25, looked nice and lasted 3 weeks with absolutely no chips. I have med-long natural nails That I have grown over several months and they were bit rough when filing, but I for the price it was fine. Would have given 3 stars.Second manicure, needed a few nails repaired as I had snagged them in a door and didn't want to sacrifice the rest of my natural nails. I asked for gel powder to be used with a tip (thinner and looks more natural), the woman told me she wanted to do acrylic instead. I should have objected but I was pressed for time. The acrylic work is the WORST I have ever seen-- thick, lumpy, polish and excess acrylic curled over tips, crooked, really shoddy work. I pointed out the excess acrylic and off center shape and she called the other women if the salon over to point and my hands, jerk them around, giggle, roll their eyes for 10 minutes. I don't care when salon employees talk to each other in another language but this was pretty over the top and rude. I asked for the nails to be buffed more and the crooked one re done, she ignored me. They were also very rough in removing the gel from my natural nails and I had to point out several times that there was still lots of old color on my nails after buffing when she was ready to do the new color. I was charged an extra $20 to fix 3 nails, a little pricey but it would have been fine if they looked okay.The gel itself was applied very thick, unevenly (both color and top coat), sloppy around the cuticles and edges. My first time at this salon I had gotten a light color so may not have noticed if it was that sloppy, but between the horrendous acrylic work and messy application, I will not be back. I am tempted to ask for them to be fixed, but I think they will just do a crap job again.If you need a nail repaired, go down the street to Awesome Nails, I have always had a long wait there but the work was better. MiniLuxe on Harvard is fine  if not pricey (gel manicure $45, no repairs of broken nails) and very clean. For $45 and not needing a repair, I'll stick with Aer nail bar, also in Brookline. Read Less

I always wait the expected 2 weeks to review my gel manicures and this one passed the test (twice)! Initially I was skeptical because the manicurist did a little clean up after the gel polish was finished, but it lasted the whole two weeks and then some. I was actually on my way to another nail salon today and passed by this place. I decided to go in because there was a sign on the street for a $25 gel manicure. The salon itself is very simple. It's definitely not a luxury salon, but it seemed clean, and everyone was friendly. Hannah (or Hana?) was my manicurist. She removed my gel polish and did a great job filing and shaping my nails. She was careful in cutting my cuticles and painting my nails - no debris, puckering, or scratches. I would definitely go to her again! My only minor complaints are that the wait time while my nails were soaking was a bit long, and the hand massage was short. However, I left with my nails looking great. Read Less

Standard nail salon however the lady doing my manicure attempted to use a dirty cuticle cutter on me (literally wiped off the last person's dead skin with a cotton ball right in front of me). When I protested she just picked up another one in the same glass jar. Probably also unclean. Not even an attempt to feign hygiene or sterility. I would rather have a sloppy manicure than risk transmissible diseases due to unsterilized equipment. Unacceptable. If you care about your health choose another nail salon. Read Less

I've had some great regular manicures and pedicures here, however, the gel is hit and miss depending on what time of day you come in. Or at least that's how it seems to me. I had one gel manicure that was done with skill, and looked fantastic for about 3 weeks. I've now had two that were really bad. They cut my nails too short, left topcoat underneath, the topcoat either doesn't meet up with the base coats or it is pooled in between the skin and nail and is on the skin. From a distance my nails look fine today (within 24 hours), but I believe they will start to come up in layers within the next few days. I asked them about the excess topcoat under the nails and they said not to pick it and that it would come off with regular ware, however, that seems really stupid and it's very uncomfortable and distracting. Also, it just looks gross. In addition to the bad looking manicure, I feel like my fingers are sunburned from the lights. I feel like the lights were too bright and they had me keep my hands in the light boxes too long. Every time I put my hands in the light boxes it would hurt for a few seconds. I put aloe on my hands last night and this morning, but they still hurt. I have been a fan of this place off and on for a few years, but I don't think I'll go back. I thought about asking them to just take the gel off, but my fingers hurt too much. :-(  I'm really unhappy. The ladies are usually pretty nice, seem to work hard, and the prices are really inexpensive, but I don't want to ever have this happen again. Maybe it's because I went in late in the day? I came in for a mani and pedi. The service was fast, efficient, and cheap but the results were subpar. I had a lot of dead skin left on the bottom of my feet. Very clean and very neat. They keep the salon meticulous. Today I had an amazing pedicure and back massage. You do have to pay a bit extra for an extended massage but it's so worth it! I like this place because they are fast and not too expensive. I actually found them after i got my teeth done down the stret and my mouth was numb so i wanted to kill some time before socializing. I spent $25 for a classic gel manicure that didnt even chip for about 10 days. She was very professional in helping me (and didnt judge my slur) and didnt clip too close on the cuticle.I only give them four stars because i like a very clean, compfortable, friendly environment and this place was just standard in terms of salons. I love it here. it's a cheap and convenient nail place. They always get your nails done even if you have to wait, and they talk to you and are friendly and accommodating.However, I have to give them 3 stars because the manicure is just OK. I have been here countless times. The regular manicure usually lasts me a little under a week, and the gel usually lasts a little over a week. Since i have been going there I tell them I want my gel to "cook" a little longer than they typically have you stay under the lamps but this helps keep it on and let it truly dry.  If you need a pedicure to go on vacation or for an event I do not recommend coming here- they don't last very long, and chip easily. If you are coming for a quick polish change to feel good for a few days, then this place is perfect for you.Overall, nice people, quality polish (OPI and ESSIE) but just OK work! Read Less

I've been living in the Coolidge corner area for 10 years and I used to go to a place regularly that was definitely high quality and a 5-star, but also high in price. I was just looking to get a pedicure and pay the $20 which is the norm, and I also wanted a place with comfortable massage chairs. The reviews that I read here weren't that great, let's face it...But I chose not to listen. I believe these places are really hit or miss in terms of the service you get.They were busy when I came in and they asked me to sit in one of the massage chairs. You don't have to twist my arm. I was perfectly happy waiting 10 minutes in the massage chair. Then the woman was very nice and did such a thorough job on my toes. I paid an extra $5 for 5 more minutes of massage and worth every penny.I had an enjoyable and relaxing pedicure. My feet look perfect. I'll be back! :) Read Less

We made reservations a few days in advance but apparently that doesn't matter as we had to wait a half hour when we were on time. Pedicure and manicure were fine, nothing special but after my pedicure the woman who had done mine and left and I had to wait 45 minutes for someone to do my manicure. During this people walked in without reservations and they got their manicures done before me. My friend ended up having to wait 45 minutes for my manicure to be done. I also don't think they know much about how to do gel manicures. I wanted a French manicure with a pink as the base an they said it could not be done and they could only do the clear/tan for French. They get a two star only because the mani/pedi came out fine and wasn't too expensive but I would never go back. Read Less

I have been in here several times for manis, pedis, and mani/pedis.  It is not the fanciest place but gets the job done and with manis at $10 and pedis at $20, it is a good deal.Color selection isn't as wide as at some other places.  Place is very clean, employees are friendly and seem happy, massage chairs are comfy, and the location is convenient to the C line / 66 bus.  I've also never had to wait even when I come in on the weekends.Today when I went, I had a gentleman do my manicure and the hand massage was lacking -- lasted about 15 seconds (for both hands).  He also only did one coat of polish, which is unusual, as most manicures I've ever had are 2.  We'll see how well and long this polish holds up... My recent experience at this nail salon was horrible. I went for a pedicure. As soon as the lady started I felt a sharp pain in my toe and I asked her to be a more gentle with the clipping. A few minutes later I noticed I was bleeding on the side of my toe! She had clipped the skin. When I told her about it (for some reason either she failed to notice it or just ignored it) she had the nerve to blame me for moving around! Anyways, it was a terrible experience and I suppose these things do happen when getting a pedicure, but the way it was handled was awful.
