I have been going to Nancy's shop for a few years and I am just now writing a review. I moved away from Braintree and make the half hour trip just to get my nails done. The spa is spotless and full of light and great energy. The nail techs are professional and take their time with you. There are always plenty of techs available. The pedicure tubs and chairs are new , the chair massage is wonderful! The tub is lined with plastic for additional sanitary protection. Get the extra 10 minute leg massage for $10 just heavenly. I have a gel manicure and the assortment of polishes is amazing and fresh. Waxing service available too. You will be impressed. Read Less

Both times I went I felt so rushed picking out a color..they were breathing down my neck so I just picked a random one. The woman who did my nails seemed like she didn't want to be there and kept looking at her phone. She rushed through the massage part and right after took out her phone to call someone. My friend went the other day and the woman she had actually took out her phone to call someone when she was painting her nails. They really do a good job and my nails came out great, but I don't feel relaxed/enjoy being there, as the whole time it seemed like she couldn't wait to be finished. I would never go here again. I went for the first time Friday evening because I was getting a spray tan next door, I got an acrylic fill with gel and by Sunday one nail had broken and two had chipped. It is now Wednesday and I have one broken nail and 4 chipped. I have never had a gel mani chip this soon or an acrylic nail break off. If it were closer to my house I would go back and show them how bad my nails look now. Read Less

I have been going here for years!! I strayed here and there, but i won’t do that anymore!! Over the past 20 years I can honestly say that Nancy is the best. Nancy treats all of her customers as they are her favorite!! Everyone is the most important customer. Nancy is amazing at waxing and nails. I have been to several nail technicians and all are very well trained. I have to add that Lenka, Nancy’s daughter in-law, is a hidden gem in dermatology. Spa by Nancy is my go-to nail salon! My mom and I always have excellent service from all of the staff and I am always getting compliments on my nails. Rose and Nancy do a great job with waxing and I most recently went to Henry for my pedicure and gel manicure. He was extremely meticulous and I was more than happy with my nails. The gel section is organized and makes it simple and easy to find a matching polish color. I got my nails done today by Lucy. It was my first time getting acrylics so I'm not sure what to expect. I'm happy with the final results on my right hand but the other side was not done well. When I sat down she got immediately to cutting my nails down but it seemed like she was in a rush and just trimmed it way down. It was messy and uneven. For the final product, Two of the nails looks very lumpy and uneven. After a day, it is more noticeable how the acrylic meets the cuticle in an uncomfortable way. There's also some bubbles in the nail I can see which adds to the uneven look on some of the nails. Read Less

First off, this is a full service salon. Everyone is good at what they do and there is always a back-up. I have been coming to Spa by Nancy for the last three years. My hair stylist recommended them and they have been excellent from day one. If you make an appointment they are ready for you when you get there. If you don't make an appointment, you are never waiting past 15 minutes, and if they are that busy they will let you know. I have received a deep pore facial and the results are wonderful. The owner Nancy did my first one and Ty one of her esthetician did the second one. Both were fantastic. I recently started getting eyelashes...OMG to DIE for. Vicky is the esthetician that does the eyelashes and she is great. I am always getting compliments on them. I have her cut them, cause I wear glasses at times. She has been out and I had to have the lashes refilled and Elaine, Nancy's daughter did an amazing job. They called me ahead of my appointment to let me know that Vicky was out...did I still want to get them done? Duh, Yes!!! Elaine did an excellent job. The prices are VERY reasonable, the services are above reproach. I will always recommend them. Oh, the bikini wax...very, very good!  Lenka is at the front desk, but don't let her fool you. She keeps everything organized and very professional without being impersonal. Worst nail experience ever!! I wanted to give this place a try because I had heard great things about it when it was Nails by Nancy but I will not be returning. Went there yesterday to get a fill but wanted gel polish on the fill. Wasn't greeted by anyone when I walked in for about 5 minutes. A man eventually came over to me & asked if he could help me. I told him what I wanted & he told me to pick a color. He said that I would have to wait a little while because they were busy but when I looked around many of the employees were sitting down on their phones on the other side of the salon. I thought this was odd but figured someone would come over to me by the time I picked my color. I was wrong. I continued to stand at the front waiting for someone to notice that I was all set. Finally a woman came over to me & said "come". Rude considering I had been waiting while she sat on her phone. Then she asked how I wanted my nails & when I told her she sort of rolled her eyes then started talking to the woman next to her in a different language (was clearly talking about what I had just said). Then she told me they didn't have the color I picked & I needed to pick another one. When I asked her if they had anything similar to the color I had picked her response was "Go look" so I went back over to the polish station to find a color similar to the one I had picked previously. While doing my nails she cut me in multiple places & seemed to be rushing to finish. When I noticed one of my nails was uneven I nicely asked her if she would mind filing them down a little. She completely ignored me & continued to start painting my nails. When I asked her again she told me that they were fine & that you wouldn't notice once they had polish on them. After when I went to pay she told me $30 so I had given her two 20 dollar bills because that was all I had in my wallet. She said "thank you have a nice day" & when I asked her for my change she gave me a look of disgust & gave it to me. When I got home I noticed my nails were missing polish on many different spots & it's the next day & they are already starting to peel!! Such a waste of money! I've been a customer here for years and recently went for the first time in a while. First of all when I walked in they were standing in a circle in the front foyer which was odd and nobody really acknowledged us. They took me to a table and my friend asked if one of the colors was gel and when the other lady came over she said "obviously it's not gel it's not the bottle" probably not realizing that we were in there together. But then they started speaking their language and laughing which which is the most aggravating thing when going into nail salons especially after knowing they were talking about us before they changed what language they were speaking in. I love Spa by Nancy! This is my go-to nail salon, and I've truly never had a bad experience here. I come all the way from North Quincy and I'm always so glad to have dropped in for a gel mani and pedi!The ladies who work here are all very nice and very professional. It's also clean and inviting, and there are lots of gel colors to choose from. I always try to come with cash for tips, but if I forget, there's an ATM right in the lobby.I've never had to wait in line here either. I called to make an appointment for a full set.. The girl told me to be there at 10. I went in and the girl started doing my nails, then her friend walked in and she told me someone else can do my nails because she was going to take the other woman. I sat for 15 minutes before the girl came over to tell me the tech I was going to sit with won't be in until later. They let me sit there and ruined my plans and my day. They are absolutely unprofessional and don't know what they are doing. go there if you want to be treated very badly. Will NEVER go to anyone but Tiny ever again. saw all the reviews for this place and decided to go because they are all great and I see they have the "matte" colors that barely any other salon has. so I went and the woman I had was worse than AWFUL. she totally rushed through I got black matte with a gold line horizontal across each nail. they look AWFUL. the gold line looks like a 2 year old did it, better yet a 2 year old could probably do better. I really like Nancy's. I was recommended here when I moved to Braintree by a friend and have not had a bad experience. The most recent time I went, they used hot stones to massage my legs before the polish and that was an unexpected treat!The ladies are sometimes a little quiet when they are working on me, but I don't mind that. Got my first gel manicure there, and got my eye brows waxed. I am happy with the gel manicure, however, my cuticles aren't so great. Also, the woman working on my eye brows told me that she could not add an arch to my brows because then they would be too thin. Also, i had an allergic reaction to the wax, and apparently I wasn't the first. In fact, almost everyone that I talked to afterwards had the same reaction to said wax. I just left from having my nails done here and was extremely disappointed.What I didn't like:I prefer my nails very short and the woman doing my nails didn't ask how short or check the length with me after I told her that I needed them cut. I had to check several times and have her cut more and more, but still she never checked the length with me after cutting or filing. On the left hand, she got all the way through and was ready to polish without checking the length with me and then I had to tell her that I needed them cut before she polished. So she cut them down more, but then didn't file them again until I had to ask! This should be a no-brainer. When you cut the nails, you need to file them.She forgot to do cuticle cream on one of my hands. Again, this should be a no-brainer. You can feel the difference when it isn't on and she should have realized it.She didn't even take off all of the polish that was on previously. When I was checking the length, I saw bits and pieces still on my nails. Definitely not a high attention to detail here.She didn't ask me to take off my engagement ring before rubbing lotion on my hands. This gets it so dingy and you should be removing the jewelry, or have the option to anyway, before they start putting lotion on.Halfway through, they had me get up to wash my hands. Doesn't this wash off all of the oils and creams that they use? Doesn't make any sense to me.She literally didn't say a word to me the entire time.After I left, just the act of getting my keys out damaged one of my nails. I was so over it at that point, that I didn't bother going back in. I had my nails done in Boston  near my office last month and went back to work to type all day and it didn't ruin them in the slightest. The only good things:They were able to get me right in without any wait and there was a huge selection of colors to choose from.These are the only bright spots in this disappointing experience, so if you are looking for a fast, mediocre experience, this is your place. I went to "Nails by Nancy" after I could not get my shellack done at "Just Nails" across the street because she only had time to do my toes, BIG mistake!! I was getting married the next day and this place butchered my fingers!!! I had three cuticles Bleeding under the gel when I left because the lady cut my cuticles so bad she couldn't get it to stop so she just put on the gel over my bloody fingers, it was horrible looking!!!This place is a warehouse for doing nails, they rush people in and out all day and they don't focus on the customers like they should. This place is so-so. They push products a bit more than I'd like and my manicure chipped within a few days. I go across the street, they're not bombarded and they try harder. Nails by Nancy seems to be hanging onto some "Best of Braintree" award they got in 1999 and they rush you through. Also - when my friend asked for her color the manicurist pressured her to instead get purple nails (seriously?) because they are sexier (no, seriously?) so if you aren't the kind of person who can just say 'no' then you've been warned. I've been a client for 9 years. I see a specific tech. and make my appts. ahead of time. I suggest everyone make an appt. The walk-in traffic is high and in her quest to make everyone happy, nobody is turned away. That needs to be managed better. Nancy gets very upset when her clients are upset and you can feel the tension in the salon when it's overcrowded and many people are waiting. As for the language barrier, if you see a specific tech., take the time to talk to her - the longer you do that, the more you will understand. I do believe that all of the technicians should be asked by Nancy to speak only English in the salon - that will (1) improve their English and (2) not make clients feel as though they are being talked about. It's also obvious when Nancy is scolding the girls - you can hear the tone in her voice and it makes things a little uncomfortable. Such scolding should take place in the back room. Even if we cannot understand what's being said, we can tell that scolding is going on. I wish they would take debit/credit cards and I know many people feel the same way. As for color selection, she has the best in town. However, a lot of the polishes are very old and should be discarded (or replaced if a new bottle is available). They continue to use very old polish. There is a lot of competition in Braintree Square as well as South Braintree Square. In fact, a new place just opened directly across the street from Nancy's. I know the fear is that if they don't take the walk-ins along with everyone else in a timely fashion, they'll leave and go elsewhere. That may be the case with the stray walk-ins who have never been there before but I don't think the regulars who have been with Nancy for years are going anywhere. Once you are a regular client of Nancy's, you become one of her 'sisters' and you get to know the girls by name and it's a very comfortable, affordable place to be. Read Less

An absolutely excellent salon with a very professional and skillful staff in addition to an extremely personal owner. Believe it or not, Nancy knows the name of every one that walks into her door! I have been going to this salon for almost ten years. This is one of the cleanest salons that I have been to. Nancy is always cleaning and updating her salon to be definitely the best in the South Shore region. It is definitely a place where my friends and I can count on a manicure and pedicure treat. They also do a wonderful job with waxing. The wax they use is extremely gentle and does not hurt like the other salons. I've been going to Nancy's for a couple of years now and I have never had a problem. I got my first pedicure here ever and they were so nice and made me feel comfortable. I even talked my mom into her first pedicure ever and now she's addicted to this place! The place is three large rooms, one just for pedicures, one just for manicures, and one ""drying"" area. You can see them clean and sterilize everything, so no worries about sketchy foot baths or implements. The owner, Nancy, is always there and goes the extra mile to make sure her customers are happy. Every now and then my son (he's 4) accompanies me and they love to humor him (he sits on my lap and they rub his legs with lotion too, give him candy, etc.) They even have male customers occasionally so tell your guys to come here too!
