Nice little place, always clean, very friendly. I'v only ever gotten simple manicures here, $14. All have been nicely done, the young ladies do tend to be more detailed and focused. They do a punch card reward system if you pay cash.Good Essie and OPI selection. My OPI metallic mani didn't chip until day 5.My friend had her finger clipped by an older lady, who was very apologetic and nice about it, but it was because she was literally looking away while doing it. I feel so bad writing this review because the women who did my pedicure was SO sweet and was working hard (which is why I'll give it two stars) but it was the worst pedicure I've ever had. My toes were bleeding leaving the place and the mysterious green liquid they put on cuts to make them stop bleeding definitely isn't something I'll be running back here for. I love Secret's SO MUCH. I've gotten over 50 manicures here. But, the 2 older ladies in glasses have got to go. They are both terrible, and I feel so bad saying this. I'm so surprised management hasn't noticed this sooner. My gel manicure usually lasts 2 weeks with Secrets. With these women...less than one. Here is a picture or my nails after 5 DAYS. I walked in to Secret Nails on Friday (today is Wednesday) for a gel mani. The service itself was standard and I was seated right away, which was nice. However, another nail tech started "cleaning" the tools next to me and sealing them in the little bags. She was simply spraying a paper towel with acetone and wiping the tools down...not the most sanitary process.The real reason I'm disappointed is that my gel mani is already lifting in the corners. Super disappointing that I got this done less than a week ago and it's already coming off :( If looking for a gel mani in the North End, I prefer Amy's. Read Less

Someone in a gym class suggest I check out Secret's as a north end nail salon. I decided to go on a Saturday morning at 10:15 (they open at 10). I was the first customer of the day and only the owner was there to help me but she said she could absolutely do a pedicure and gel polish change. The pedicure was one of the best I've ever had anywhere (Boston, NYC, Philly, DC) and the massage was an actual massage! The only problem was after the pedicure you have to walk up a set of 4 stairs to the nail stations and I screwed up my polish. I felt so terrible!! But the owner insisted on redoing the polish and ended up doing my manicure in a pedicure tub as well (I didn't trust myself to go back up the stairs either)It was a busy place by the time I was leaving at noon on a snowy day. I would definitely return soon. Best of all the owner insisted if any nails got messed up before I left for vacation to come back in so my nails look their best! Read Less

This is my second time at Secret's and I have to say, the first experience was much better. My friend and I got manicures by on older lady who was so rushed she left our nails jagged after cutting them. She then rushed through my painting to the point where the color was patchy on every nail, and she got really angry at me when I asked her to fix them. She wouldn't take the polish off either-- she just begrudgingly added another coat on top. I had asked her to do a reverse French manicure with my colors, but she first told me she wouldn't do it, then half way through told me that if I gave her an extra five dollars she'd do it. I'm happy to pay the actual price for a French manicure, but I feel weird about adding on an arbitrary amount of money to my bill. Can't say I'll be back :(. Read Less

I dashed in at 7:45pm right before closing in hopes of getting a polish change. They were friendly and helpful and the nail tech who took me was extremely gracious. I would highly recommend this cozy neighborhood salon for anyone looking to get a mani/pedi in the North End. Read Less

My friend and I came in during a *busy* lunchtime on Friday, to get a $14 manicure before a wedding. They were able to accommodate us despite the crowd. My nails have lasted the test of time (well, 5 days) with only 1 chip - which is a miracle because I'm a monster with my nails. Bring cash to tip! Read Less

After a recent break up with my old nail place I finally gave Secret's a try yesterday and I am glad that I did.  I went in for a pedicure and am very happy with it.  The location is very clean, I really like the fact that the instruments they use are run through the autoclave after every use.  They have tons of colors to choose from and even lots of glittery options (one of my disappointments overall about nail places in Boston is the lack of glitter!).  Everyone was very nice - I will definitely be making this my go to nail place in the North End. It really depends on who you get. If you get the owner, she does a really good job in general. I had her one time and was quite happy. This is one of the few places in Boston that have the common sense not to cut cuticles too deeply or rub your good skin with a rough stone during pedicure. I do not like the practice of making you dip your nails into a bowl of acetone for shellac removal and using the technician's finger nail to scratch the shellac off the customer's nails. The person (non-owner) I had was really sweet but didn't understand English mostly. When I said please do not cut my cuticles, she insisted on cutting a bit with her gestures anyways, but only one hand!!!! When I asked her to cut the other one a little bit as well, she said, 'it's ok' and just left it uncut. Sigh... Read Less

Never everrrrrrrrrrrrr again. For my pedicure they didn't even cut my toe nails even though I asked. Cut my cuticles? Nope didn't do that either.. Get to my manicure it was literally the worst manicure I have EVER had in my life cut me 3 times (picture to follow) polish spotty, chipped off within 6 hours.. I love Secret's Nail Salon and it's my salon of choice when I don't do my nails myself at home. I do feel like I want to be satisfied with a job well done when I am paying $100+ for salon services. 99% of the time Secrets makes it worth my while.Usually when I come here I get great service, but as I write this review I'm currently mid-pedicure and things are not going well. Kim is being very rushed and forceful with my nails. Other technicians here are careful not to cause more damage when removing gel polish or trimming cuticles. Gel polish should soak for 15 minutes in acetone. I was paying attention to the songs on the radio and only one song passed between the time she started soaking my nails and the time she started scraping off the polish (and some of my nail bed with it). Unfortunately I don't know any Vietnamese to express my concerns with the technician. I tried, and she just nods and says "yes yes ok!" And started moving faster. At another point she started using her fingernails to scrape off the old polish. *shrug* My bad luck because most if not all of the ladies here are very fluent in English which is nice and makes communicating so much easier. I'm disappointed but am in a hurry for this to be over with and complaining plus trying to translate will take up more time... so I'm just going write my review, let her finish and ask to have someone else work on my nails next time. Also, I LOVE Secrets for their waxing services as well. Waxing is something I won't try at home so Secrets is my go-to now that I moved a little further away from my old salon. They managed to even out my crooked brows  (the reason I stopped trying to wax at home!) and I always leave the waxing room feeling refreshed! Read Less

Nina and the rest of her team are amazing. They are all so friendly and make you feel very welcomed. They do a great job helping you pick colors and not rushed like other places. They also have colors that are hard to find as well as the newest OPI collections. Highly recommend! Read Less

The salon is very neat and the nailist was very nice. The staffs always use their language though. They have strong accent when they speak english, so it was hard to understand ;(Anyway, the price is very reasonable too! I did gel nail but it cost me $40. That's not bad deal.
