Absolutely DO NOT go to this nail salon. I literally had to walk out because the "trained tech" doing my nails was removing gel polish with nail clippers without barely soaking them at all. She proceeds to take chunks out of my nail because she kept digging at them. When she realized what she had done, she clipped them way way way shorter than I'd asked without clarifying with me. When i look at them, she plays stupid and acts like she accidentally cut them to short. When i point out the chunks she'd taken out from her persistent digging and scraping, she admits she made a huge mistake. I went in with beautiful long nails and left with nubs for nails. Without an apology from the owner or the tech. If you care about your nails at all like i do, DON'T let these people touch them. Because you will leave in tears just like i did. Awful nail salon. Location was very cute and cozy. Maybe a bit too cozy. I got a full set with gel. My technician was very nice and friendly. They charge an extra $5 if you want coffin or almond shaped nails. At first I thought my nails were too short,but the more I look at them the more I love them. One of the best parts about my experience was that it didn't take too long. This place is very clean and remarkably beautiful on the inside. As a man I have always felt that nail salons look at straight men like a disease and don't give you the same treatment that a woman does get. Of course I don't want my nails painted but to clean and massage the same way you give a lady should be the same especially you know I'm paying for it.The price was expensive but this is in the south end. Not as good as the other location. I had a 4pm appointment this afternoon, and I just finished now at 5:40pm. They left me soaking for half an hour, no one checked on me, no one apologized. When the tech finally came over, she was awful. She made me bleed twice, on the cuticles of my FEET! and she took about an hour just to do my pedicure. Luckily another tech came over and did my nails (all but painting) while she finished my pedicure. If someone else hadn't helped paint my nails, then I would still be there for sure. When I tried to voice my complaint (which was hard for me to do- because I rarely speak up) the front desk lady gave me a speech about how it must have been a long time since my last pedicure, and how she must have just been detail oriented. The least they could have done is apologized - but no, not even that. I will never be going back to this nail salon- an hour and half for a regular pedicure and gel manicure when you have an appointment is ridiculous. The polish stayed for more than 3 weeks. I have to say that I had to remove the polish to cut my nails eventually. Plus, the salon is very nice and clean. I really like the deco of the salon. EXTREMELY BAD SERVICES. First of all, the girl was already annoyed when I walked in because I asked too many questions or took too long deciding on a color I want. I understood it was a light color so harder to apply and I was actually happy when she offered a third coat. However it still looked very uneven and bumpy on my nails not sure if the polish was too old or dry. so I said "I wish it was more even". She replied "it happens" without even any apology or further explanation. Her tone was impatient and rude all along UNTIL I was about to tip her. She suddenly lightened up and complimented on my outfit and stuffs. Seemed very forced and manipulative. I ended up leaving her decent tips anyways because she did put in work. I had been looking for the perfect nail salon since I moved to Boston four years ago. My Nail Salon is finally my go-to place. They are efficient but also don't make you feel like they are rushing you out the door. They have several colors to choose from and I love how long my manicures/pedicures last. The most impressive thing about My Nail Salon is their customer service. It's outstanding. For example: I had come in to get a routine pedicure and manicure and while getting my manicure done my manicurist, and I apologize I don't remember her name, had asked me how my vacation was. My vacation was a month prior and I had only met her once before on a very busy day. The fact that she remembered me after so much time had passed and then had the courtesy to ask me how my trip was impressed me immensely. Every time I come in they always remember something about what I like so they can offer it the next time. (Another example is most of the staff knows that I like to keep the acetone on my nails longer than usual as to not scrape my nails too much. I had only said this once before and now it's just something they do for me.) It's like they have a journal of all the customers that come in and they make notes on all of their needs/wants and then memorize it! My favorite gal right now is Tracy...but they are all great. I am an older lady and this is my go to salon for mani-pedi's.  I have been a customer since2009.   Currently, my favorite operator is Neu.  Yesterday, I had an appointment and whenI arrived I could not locate my phone.  I decided to proceed as planned even though Iwas soo very upset.  Well to my amazement everyone tried to help me, calling my phoneetc.  Neu  used her phone to locate my phone {I was unaware this was possible}, thesearch was successful and Neu ran to pickup the phone at the Pru.  In the  meantime,other girls in the shop helped finish my hands and feet to keep on schedule.  I was sodeeply touched by the care, effort and support I received.  Quite a complement in todayscallous society.  Hong too is a wonderful, warm, kind manager.  At this shop the best ofall is evident.  I would recommend it to anyone. This place is one of the most dishonest nail salons I have ever been to. I have been here twice. The first time I went, I got had acrylics and wanted to get a fill and gel color put on. I called ahead and they told me it would be $37. I went in, had my manicure - which was okay I did feel a little rushed - and then it was time to pay. They told me it was $45 for my service. I was confused and asked them why someone on the phone said $37, to which the lady mumbled something about it's better nail polish, lasts longer. Because the price difference was not that much I was not going to make a big fuss about it. Then, the lady told me gel is $25 so the next time you come in, it will be $25. I returned for another manicure, expecting it to be $25, and once again before I had my service I called ahead and made sure that a gel fill was in fact $25 which they said it was $25. I had my service and when it came time to pay they said $45. Now, I became upset. I was lied to once again, so understandably so I was frustrated and they gave me $5 off (insulting). I will not ever be returning to this nail salon and I advise anyone who is considering going to this nail salon to stay away. I would understand a $45 gel fill manicure if the services were fantastic but the quality of service this nail salon offers is average if not below average. Honestly this place just sucks!! me and my friend went got gel mani pedi, she added spa massage to her pedi and it came to 200!! like seriously come on now, they can't do really any decent designs.  The ones they did on us sure was not worth 200, simple nail Polish designs should not cost that much the design was not what we envisioned just sucks all around. Not to mention that my friend and I noticed they were not sanitizing their tools in between mani and pedi. I have started coming here over the past couple of months and have been very pleased with the experience. I get either a normal mani or with the Essie gel couture line (+$5) and the manicures always last a week, which is good for me. Just had a great experience here! I spent the last 7 days walking all over Boston and was in bad need of a pedicure, I called and asked if they could see me in 5 minutes and they fit me in! I got the Lavender spa pedicure and it was exquisite, the young woman who did my pedicure did a wonderful job and was very friendly! Then Wee did a color change on my silk wrap and even gave my nails a fresh filing along with my color. Some techs are sloppy with their paint jobs but she did perfect work in a quick amount of time. The only reason I give 4 stars is because they don't have a tip line on the receipt when you pay with credit card, tip is cash only! I would have loved to have given the gals who serviced me a nice tip, they really deserved it, but I didn't have any cash on me. In any case, this is a great spot!! Read Less

Cindy and Helen are both wonderful! When I worked in Back Bay I used to frequent this salon all the time. They always remembered me and do such an incredible job. The extra few minutes of foot massage is worth every dollar of relaxation. I've never felt like the salon wasn't clean which is rare ... because I'm kind of a germaphobe. I am by far one of the toughest people to please. LITERALLY.. Beyond picky and critical when it comes to how I like my nails. I've tried several nail salons as well as techs, and I finally found NU at my nail salon. My mother has been going to the tremont location for years now, And I worked at the pru so it was so convinient for me to go to the west Newton location. In my personal opinion they are both great! You walk in and they greet you and make sure you feel super comfy.. That's exactly why I really fell in love with Nu's work. She is so Caring and attentive with her customers.. She books me in advance and in every session takes her time with me. Never rushing, always paying close attention to detail.. And since then I've been coming to her for almost a year and a half! Spouse's comments: I've been going here several years for gel manicures and quite satisfied. Nu is very attentive, professional, and I'm often able to book her in advance so I don't have to wait. Weekends do get busy. The gel manicures last for 2 - 3 weeks or more depending on my activities, and Nu knows what colors I like and often has suggestions on colors to try. Nothing exceptional went here because my nails were about to come off (gel). Went for a new gel. What I did love about it was the prices for the area, and the color selection of the nudes . Oh and the inside the stain-glass Windows makes it look so honey. The staff should try and talk to their clients a little more and engage in conversation. I was in town and needed a quick mani/pedi before heading to the airport. The ladies were all so nice! I got a gel pedi and polish change on my hands which is backwards for most people. My cousin got a regular mani pedi and they weren't pushy at all about either of us getting more than we asked for. I used to come here a lot when I lived around the corner 5 years ago. Back then it was well priced with good service and I always left happy.I stopped in today for old time's sake as I'm back working in the city after a few years abroad. I just went for a pedicure and halfway through was upsold the foot/leg treatment. My feet were in really bad shape so I said ok and in truth it was enjoyable. However, the woman scrubbed the soles of my feet so hard that I thought my foot was bleeding. When I checked it when I got home, I saw that she had actually left a cut on my foot (about the size of a pea so significant!). I'm now worried I'm going to get some kind of infection as this place is not as clean as I remember it (I was there in the middle of the day and there were only 2 other customers and about 7 girls so they certainly weren't busy).Also, they again upsold the massage while my feet were drying, which I really didn't appreciate. All in all, I am not happy to have spent nearly $60 (including tip) when my feet aren't nearly as smooth as some other places I've been to, despite their extra treatment. Great change from the quick service places on Newbury! For $37 plus tip I got an hour pedicure with foot and calf massage and a 10 minute chair massage!  She did not skimp at all on any part of the pedicure and I felt totally relaxed the entire time. This salon is conveniently located near my job. I went b/c I missed my regular appt @ the salon I normally go to. They were fast and friendly. I got an acrylic fill and gel shellac. The girl who did my nails did an excellent job. Even though they chatted in among themselves I still felt comfortable and like a valued customer. I think this salon is actually quite good. They particularly do a great job on the gel manicure. My issue with this place is the attitude of the management. I had been going there regularly for months and I decided to abandon the gel manicure for a week. But I still had the gel polish on my nails from my last visit. They removed the polish and gave me a regular manicure. When I went to pay, they told me that the removal of the gel polish cost $5. I asked them to show me where in their menu of services it indicated that fee but it was not listed. They blamed 'the owners' for the charge. It's a shame, I really liked this salon. About a month ago, on one of those rare February nice days, I decided to stop in for a manicure. They did a good job, but the girl working with me talked on the phone the ENTIRE time. Not that I expected her to chat it up with me, but I also didn't want to listen to her talking on the phone the entire time. I also glanced to the back to see another girl getting one of the 10 minute/10 dollar massages... little did she know, the person giving the massage had one hand on her, the other hand texting!! I was cut severely during a pedicure at My Nail Salon on W. Newton. I contracted a serious staph infection, have had to go on antibiotics, pay a visit to the ER and a podiatrist during which i received two surgeries on my toe, not to mention having to miss work. i will never go there again, and I would highly recommend going to a different salon.
