I am a healthcare professional so I am very picky when it comes to nail salons. La Belle impressed me with the infection control protocols I was able to observe. - they autoclave their tools- their nail file/ buffer are 1 time use (I was given mine to take home)- the salon as a whole was very organized and neat Neutragena sun screen was applied to my hands prior to using the UV light to set the gel polish. Absolutely the worst acrylics I’ve ever had in my life. The nail tech was sloppy putting them on and got acrylic all over my skin, then spent at least 20 minutes dremeling the edges of my nails and my skin to get it off. Even when I pulled my hand away and said “that hurts” she would yank it back and start doing it again. I’ve had them on for a week, they’re all lifting, one is chipped. I paid for gel, she didn’t entirely cover my nails with the topcoat so a lot of it has peeled and chipped off. Worst waste of $45 I’ve ever spent in my life. Read Less

I wonder if people are talking about the right salon on some of these reviews. I have been going to La Bella since it was over on the other side of Chinatown and now they are conveniently located right next to the Kensington where I live. A lot of the residents in my building go here regularly. Michelle the owner is the nicest woman and so entertaining when visiting. Her family helps behind the desk every once in a while and is as nice as her. All the nail techs are really accommodating and great at what the do. I really love coming here and come every 2-3 weeks. Visited this place late June 2017 for French tip gel nails. Very nice, received me right as they were opening up. 1 girl started my manicure then she started on another client and I believe the owner finished. However they didn't communicate and the first one put 2 layers on 1 hand and the other one put 3 layers, which messed up the polish. The white French tip ended up being pink, which obviously isn't what I wanted. The owner I presume said it looked good and tried to sell me on that but I wasn't buying, especially when I told her it had to be white. The original girl tried to fix it after they argued by sanding down the pink tip and then repainting it with white polish. I wasn't 100% happy with the results and was hoping for a discount since they messed up but didn't get it. I wad in a hurry so I didn't argue but was not happy with the results and will not be returning. Read Less

Popped in today for a pedicure in this lovely new (I think) salon. Decor was lovely, everyone was super nice, got a great pedicure and when I went to pay and realized that I couldn't leave a tip on the credit card, I felt terrible as I didn't have any cash. So many salons get mad at you if you don't tip enough or don't have cash, but they just said, "no worries, next time."  It was so refreshing. And surprising. I'll definitely come back because of it. Great nail salon that moved from south station. Very clean. Staff and owner speak great English and are super accommodating. Free water during your service and paraffin wax part of your manicure! Costs a bit more than other salons but they include everything rather than charging for every additional item (wax, gel removal, hot towel). Read Less

Customer Service Desk was so rude to the point I will not return. My peeve - It smelled like cat pee in there and they charged a removal fee for my old gel nails - when I questioned that fee, they said everywhere does it ( I was tag teamed by 2 rude woman ). I travel a lot and often go to different salons and have never been charged for them to take off gel ( I was having a new Gel Manicure put on ). They berated me that its a normal fee! Considering when I walked in, I told them I worked around the corner and was looking for a new place that I go to during work break - -I would have expected a nicer welcome ! $40 plus a tip for a rude experience.... Rush job. Nothing special. For $35 for a pedicure, I expected the works; I mean, that's what $35 is worth in the most uppity salon on the west side in L.A. So, I mean... Anyway, the girl literally flew through my pedi like she was racing with the girl in the next room. That was pretty disappointing. There was no care or technique, just a slapstick job with a smile. Notwithstanding the rushed pedi, the ambiance is comfortable and relaxing. They have curtains that add privacy. They seemed to have a pretty decent selection of polish colors, too. Not likely to return due to the rushed job. I'll never get over how hasty it felt. Literally from the time I sat down until the time she smiled and said "all done" no more than 15-20 minutes. Insane. Definitively the fastest pedi I've ever had in life. That might be ok if you're on a layover at SS. Otherwise, feels more like a rip off. Read Less

$40 for fill totally ridiculous but they do good job. I didn't like she wanted to make my very square signature nails round but she quickly put them back how I want them. I will probably come back it's convenient on my lay over hopefully she'll see my vision better next time Read Less

The best manicure I've ever had. Perfectly done and the woman helping me was awesome. I didn't catch her name, but she had a European accent. This nail salon is extremely close to my office, so I've gotten at least half a dozen pedicures here.  They are usually fine.  I've also gotten at least one or two regular manicures and two shellac manicures.  The first shellac mani was ok.  The second was a disaster and may be enough that I don't return for any services.  However, it is one experience out of many, so take it for what its worth.The shellac mani from last week:  first of all, the woman put the wrong polish on for a base coat, and then had to scrape at my nails to get it off to replace it.  Then, following each coat (5 if you include the mistake coat) she had me keep my hands in the UV light thing for 3 minutes, at least.  This was excessive.  It felt uncomfortable at the time, and about half an hour after I left my hands appeared totally sunburned.  I have never had anyone leave my hands in there longer than 45 seconds.  I personally use an LED light at home for this purpose, in 30 second intervals - UV is not necessary.  However, I appreciate that they probably invested good money in these UV lamps.  It is such overkill to do 3+ minutes per coat, that I'm still not sure why I didn't say something during.  Add to this that my manicure does not look good - even my boyfriend noted that I do a better job at home - I was sorely disappointed.  The color is uneven and runs up onto my cuticles on several nails.  Do not waste the extra money on a shellac mani here. When I worked on Bromfield Street I would frequent this salon and this is my first time reviewing it. What a shame! I've had pedicures, shellac manicures, and waxing in many areas by their amazing Esthetician. Waxing is A++. The Esthetician (a Turkish woman, forgot her name, sorry) was able to fit me in right after work and was super friendly. She gave me a great Brazilian, eyebrow wax, and underarms. She moved quickly while making me feel relaxed, talking about travels and kids. I had a lot of hair to remove to we ended up talking for a while. The pedicure booths are beyond relaxing as they have curtains to close you off from the rest of the salon, a massaging chair, and a selection of magazines they offer when you sit down. Contrary to a previous review I did not feel any sales pressure. When I asked the owner if I should do shellac on my toes she told me I didn't need to. They go above and beyond eg. welcome drinks on Valentine's Day. There are many nail salons in Boston but this one gives you an upscale and relaxing feel for a decent price. Got a mani/pedi here. The salon over all is pretty clean. The polish application was done pretty well. The shape of most of my nails is a little off from what i expected asking for square..?The woman who i had for my services was pretty nice and upbeat. She tried to engage me in conversation throughout which was nice. When she took out some weird machine for callus removal it creeped me out a bit. Especially since it plugged into the wall. It wasn't really effective. So, i'm not sure of the point of it?Only real down side was that the massage pretty much consisted of her slathering lotion on my leg for about 30 seconds then calling it a day. I skipped the hand massage because i had to head for a train and wanted to give ample time for my digits to dry. Great place to stop by afterwork when you're in need of a quick polish change. I went for the first time today and had Rose as a nail technician. Rose did an excellent job on my shellac manicure and pedicure. She was very diligent and also gave a great massage. I especially appreciated that she put sunblock on my hands before putting them in the  UV lamp, something that other salons failed to provide.The salon is quiet, clean, and there is a wide variety of colors to choose from. It was a little pricey (70$ for shellac mani and regular pedi), but I felt it was well worth the money. Read Less

Let me explain why and it's pure lack of customer service...PERIOD! I needed a manicure, gel. Made an appt, came in 5 min early, woman seated me. She asked how I liked my nails, I said very square and please do not file too much I just filed last night. Okay, she starts with nail 1 and 2 and already she's rounding my edges, I politely ask her please make them square then on nail 3 all hell breaks loose...she begins to file my nail down and I pull my hand away and tell her again I dont want my nails filed please I want the length...This has NEVER been a problem at any salon, I have been going to various salons for 17 YEARS! The woman stands up says I can't do your nails, I have a certain quality that I must maintain and I can't let your nails be uneven(lenth)...after I clarified that I don't care if they are uneven (reason being I just started to grow them, they weren't long) She made a complete scene!! I was humiliated and I'm NOT that picky pain in the ass customer either, as I said never an issue anywhere before. So what does she do she walks over to another client completely ignoring me and I'm asking her...are you serious right now? So now what, I say? I literally thought she was telling me to leave her salon...and for what?!!! I'll get someone else to do your nails for you, I can't do them that way she says. I am just stunned at this womans attitude! Another very nice girl walks over, I tell her how I would like them friendly and nice like I did before and she completes my nails, no complaints. She did a great job but my experience was horrible! Come to find out this horrible woman I had the problem with is the MANAGER of the salon! I hope that if the owner is reading this (whether your family or not) this is UNEXCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR! I will never return to this salon...i'll find another one close by that knows how to treat their customers. And yes I paid $40 for that circus! Ok, I feel bad writing this review, but it has to be done.I came here to get my eyebrows waxed bc I was on a tight timeframe and it is around the corner from my office.  I usually get my brows threaded, but figured waxing would be ok this time since I was trying to fit it in before the weekend.I came in and the woman doing the waxing (who was very nice) took me to the back room.  There were towels down on the table already, and I didn't feel comfortable putting my head down...so I put my hands up under my head.  (Note to salons: please make a point of putting down fresh linens/paper in front of your client so they feel comfortable.)The woman doing the waxing pulled out the wax and started working.  Honestly, overall I thought that the experience was going well.  When it was over and she showed me my brows in the mirror, they looked VERY RED and they were stinging.  "Oh, I put some concealer on your brows because they were a little pink" -- what the woman said to me.  I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE RED FLAG.  You never ever ever ever put concealer or anything onto freshly waxed skin except for aloe or some other cooling lotion.  My brows were starting to sting a lot, but I figured it would wear off by the end of the day (which normally happens).By the time I got home, my brows were on fire.  I washed my face with cool water and looked closely in the mirror... and my skin was raw.  It looked like I had scars or that I'd been cut--thin, burned lines under both of my eyebrows just above the crease.  By the next day, the skin was tight and still sore.  By the second day, the skin was peeling off.Look, I understand that you do risk burns when you opt for waxing over threading.  HOWEVER, if the woman noticed that she was burning me, she SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING RIGHT AWAY.  Instead, she chose to try to cover up her mistake with concealer, which is probably why my skin felt so irritated for the rest of the day.  It's just bad business.  Can't believe I tipped her $5.If you want pics, I have them.
