LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this salon; and especially Darren Le. I've tried several salons and thought my cuts and color were "nice" but I still felt dull a short time later. The experience at G20 was exceptional from the moment I booked. The convenient, relatively inexpensive valet parking across the street at the Lenox was a great way to start, the reception was friendly and they provided a tour of their the salon, spa and amenities. My friend and I enjoyed coffee in front of the fire in the lounge while we waited. Darren cut and colored my hair. The cut was a drastic departure from what I had and he nailed it; and the color is EXACTLY what I wanted. In addition, he was mindful of my trying to maintain a painless transition between color touchups by choosing something that worked with my natural color. My appointment was scheduled for 3/12 at 12:00pm. This was my first time at the new location (I've been 2x at the old location for cut/color), so I showed up about 15 minutes early to give myself time to check-in. When I got to the third floor, I checked in with the receptionist who greeted me with a friendly hello. I mentioned I wasn't familiar with the amenities at this new location, and although she wasn't able to give me a tour, she mentioned that my stylist may be able t...o show me around during the appointment. (I wasn't offered a tour nor did my stylist inquire if I had been here before). I walked in to the salon, and checked in with a girl who seemed to be confirming appointments with everyone. A few other women were waiting on the seats near me, and one that showed up after me ended up starting before me. It was 12:05pm and my stylist still had not checked in so I asked the girl who I checked in with if she knew where she was. She said she would go check and when she returned told me my stylist Amanda would be coming over shortly, and added in that "I did show up early." Really? I showed up 15 minutes early for my appointment, and it's now 5 minutes past my appointment, and somehow that is relative? Eventually my stylist Amanda came over to greet me and guided me over to my seat. I was clear with her on what I wanted, which was to go back to my natural color and trim off a bit of length. She did a great job at getting my hair back to a neutral tone, evening out any old color from my balayage. She didn't hold conversation at all, which wasn't a problem for me but it did make her come off a bit tense. I still tipped well over 20% and walked away satisfied with my final look. Overall, I am happy with my hair which is most important, but I didn't feel the staff was very friendly or welcoming considering it was my first experience at this location. Beware!  The highlights in other reviews - the Brine room, the rooftop deck, and the hot tub - NO LONGER EXIST AT THE NEW LOCATION.  I am heartbroken to report that the new location of this well loved spa has done us all a great disservice.  We were sad to have our services, booked for opening week, cancelled because they would not be ready in time, but thought, "Hey, if they want to make it perfect before they open their doors, we'll wait!"  I was a little disappointed that we were not offered any kind of incentive or perk for the trouble.  We booked our services for a month later, figuring we'd give them some time to work out the kinks.  Not enough time, as it turns out.  The spa was unfinished.  There were no hooks in the lockers or anywhere in the locker room yet.  The bench in the women's steam room was broken.  The signs in the elevator were taped up.  Hopefully these things have been remedied even by the time I write this.What will not be remedied is the loss of amenities.  No more Hot tub, no more brine room.  You have to pay for time in the "salt cave," although the coed sauna does have a salt wall.  No more rooftop deck.  The relaxation room only has six chairs, and zero atmosphere.  I might describe it as a corporate lounge of some sort? The larger lounge is also uninviting.  The locker room is smaller and no longer has the nice table and lounge area.  The lockers have some sort of crazy lock that will no doubt keep the poor employees running in and out with the key for the next several months.  Also the improvements I was really hoping for did not materialize.  Same small, scratchy towels.  Same uncomfortable sandals.  Only one toilet in the women's locker room.  And the showers are just OK.   Putting in the rain showers would have gone a long way.  I don't want to end this review without saying that everyone who works there was completely lovely and professional, and that the massage I got was amazing.  Overall, however, I am quite disappointed in the new G20 spa.  I feel like it lost a great deal of it's ambiance and character in this move, not to mention amenities.  It's hard to be a truly world class spa without a hot tub. Used to be absolutely amazing but new location is huge mistake. My husband and I have been coming for couples massages at the Newbury location for close to two years and have been treated to wonderful services and complimentary amenities such as the hot tub and brine room. This has all gone out the window at the new location and its clear that the customer no longer matters only the $$$$. You can tell the staff is not pleased either. Previously bubbly and wonderful you can tell they no longer enjoy their work. G20 please treat your staff and your customers better and bring back the amenities that once made your location so great and one I highly recommended to others. We will not be coming back. Read Less

I am a regular customer of Tiffany Blair.  She is the absolute, best hairstylist I've ever been to. I have straight, fine hair. My friend is also a regular customer, and has very thick hair. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday, and it blew him away. The staff was extremely friendly and informative. We got couples massages, and enjoyed the relaxation room with a fire place, the salt room, the hot tub, and we had our own separate time in the steam room. All of the spa amenities (the rooms) came with the massage, and it was such a nice touch. I can't wait to check out their new location. When we went everything was clean and professional. The relaxation room with the fire place was in use by another group as well, which was fine, it's a large enough room that you can still hold a conversation and not feel like you're being overheard. Tip: either book your massage early, or get there 2 hours prior to your massage (if you want to end with the massage) so you can enjoy all the rooms G2O has to offer. Read Less

My husband and I went here as part of a spa day and both had positive experiences. I had a good deep tissue 60 minute massage with Nysha, where I fell asleep, so job well done I guess? My hubby had a 90 minute Swedish with Krystal and thought it was great. Currently they offer the amenities of a fireplace lounge in the penthouse, brine room, steam rooms and hot tub, but they are moving next month to Exeter and losing some of those. I'm a bit sensitive to smell so I didn't stay long in the brine room or near the hot tub due to the chlorine, but sitting near the fireplace with trail mix and tea/coffee was lovely. Read Less

I've been coming to G2O for YEARS and never thought to review. I love this salon and would never go anywhere else, would never trust anyone else. I've done it all at this salon- and I mean ALL (purple hair, pink hair, prom updo with extensions, even had my stylist save me from a boxed hair dye disaster). They work miracles here, by they I specifically mean MIA CARBONE. She is amazing, she can do anything from a balayage to styling to saving your bleach fried hair in one sitting. I would never let anyone other than Mia touch the hair on my head ever again. The salon is in Newbury Street and is priced accordingly, but I assure you it's worth it. I won't comment too much on the actual establishment as they're actually moving locations very soon! I personally had an amazing experience here. Had a spa day with my sisters. I received a massage from Peggy. I've had a lot of spa services and I've had massages all over the world and I have to say that she is literally in my top three I told her that dude she is the best that I've ever had I mean she was amazing.The amenities were amazing there is this relaxation salt room that we took advantage of. There was a Jacuzzi that we were soaking in. There was delicious coffee available that we helped ourselves to, and little healthy nut snacks. The terrace top floor is absolutely gorgeous and I wish it was warm out so we could have sat up there.I didn't take any pictures of the facilities because we said no phones. Next time I go I'll snap a few.I had also reached out before I had made these appointments to see if they would donate a spa Gift card to put towards a spa wellness basket that is going to be auctioned for this nonprofit I volunteer for. I was told that my request would be forwarded to the person who was in charge and this was literally two months ago and I never heard a response. I was visiting Boston, and my hair was just not having the travel sized shampoo I brought. After dealing with a weird film in my hair for a few hours, I gave up and looked for a dry bar. Walking down Newbury, I couldn't find any, but happened across this salon. I will say that for a wash and style, it was $80, which is pretty steep for no cut. However, my hairstylist Darren was absolutely amazing. Very personable, and he did pay attention to what I wanted. The one downfall is that the air conditioner had quit working that morning, and it was an unusually hot day in Boston! Other than that, the only thing that lost this place a star is the requirement to have a credit card on file to just book an appointment. This was my boyfriend and I first time ever to get a massage and we are so glad we went to this place. The staff was super friendly and they greeted us right away when we stepped into the salon. Then one of the friendly staff escort us to where we were going to get our couples massage (which was amazing!) Our masseuse & masseur made us feel really comfortable and they did a terrific job. What I really love about this place is that after the massage, we get to use their amazing amenities! Usually I love this place but today definitely an off day. The massage was terrific as usual. The hydro facial was very very very average and the person who did it was more rough than delicate...clearly just going through the paces. And at $145 for an hour don't have me back to the locker room with 5 min still left.Typically it is good service there but it has been a while and today was poor. I got spoken to for going into the "experience room" to sit down...if this is not for use between appointments then lock the door versus leaving the door open. I planned a spa day bachelorette party at G2O for a friend this past weekend and it was amazing! Meghan (group/special events manager) made our lives so easy by doing all the coordinating of appointments and checking on us throughout the day. Everyone was so impressed by the spa/salon services, amenities, and especially the staff - everything was definitely above and beyond our expectations. The staff was very attentive and professional, and we felt very well taken care of and relaxed! I can personally say that the facial and mani/pedi I got were the best I've had and I know everyone else was really happy with their services as well. We also did the group Bali experience, which was hydrating, fun and unique (indoor thunderstorm!). The penthouse lounge, rooftop, hot tub, and brine room were all lovely to hang out in between treatments. For those that get hungry while there, you can order in from Cafeteria or snack on the granola, cookies, seltzer, tea, and coffee.I will definitely be getting all my spa services done at G2O in the future, and hopefully bringing more bachelorette parties there as well! Warning!! If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I bought a coupon from Gilt City for a facial. The aesthetician was pressing so hard on my face that it hurt. I went home with broken capillaries all over my nose and cheeks hoping that they would go away in the morning. But they didn't and they are permanent and will get worse over time. This is going to cost me about $500 to remove. I am very angry am disappointed that I wasted my money here and will now need to pay hundreds of dollars to fix what happened to my face. All of this set aside, my skin looked worse than before the facial. Very dry and irritated and peeling around my eyes, and my pores were extremely (and noticeably) more clogged. Read Less

G20 is way more than a salon or what one would normally think of as a spa. G20 really does create an experience, a whole atmosphere, through its variety of amenities. Whenever you get a service, or buy a stand-alone amenities pass, the full range of amenities is open to you. I love the different experiences that each room gives you, from the hot tub to the brine inhalation room, to the fireside lounge. The whole 5 floor facility was clean, polished, upscale, and super comfortable.I got a pre-natal massage and Nicia did an amazing job. I will definitely be coming back as often as possible! Four of us came to G2O to celebrate a bachelorette party and we had a great time!Pros: all of us really enjoyed our services - the bride-to-be raved about the male masseuse she had.  Staff was very professional and polite - they allowed us to store our luggage in a private, locked room since it wouldn't fit in the lockers.  The brine relaxation room and sauna were both great.  The welcome package they gave us at the end included beautiful roses!  All of the lounge areas were great too - clean and comfortable.Cons: it was difficult to book, as I played phone tag with Meghan, the group services coordinator, for over two weeks. The lady who did my facial (Sandra, I believe), asked a couple of uncomfortable questions (why I don't get facials more often if I don't have any kids to worry about, why I wasn't married yet...) but the facial itself was great.  Also, the website and the materials in the welcome package states that they have a bachelorette party package, but after speaking with Meghan she said it was discontinued.Overall - I would definitely come back again, and it was perfect for a girls' day! I live in Miami and came to surprise my mom and sister for mothers day not only with coming down but a day at the spa. The staff here is beyond amazing ! Valerie hill my masseuse was spectacular, I had a lot of tension in my shoulders and her hands worked magic! My mom's masseuse was a male from st. Thomas, I don't know his name but she raved about him. Jasime the concierge was so sweet and very helpful. Even the two Dominican ladies who worked upstairs were sweet. I love going to g2o for many reasons (roofdeck, brine room, steam room, point structure) but notably 2...1. Kathleen does an excellent job on my hair. She is really lovely and is not afraid to make suggestions, while listening to what I'd like. Getting my hair cut and colored is a breeze and I always feel extremely satisfied when I leave. 2. Gina (waxing, threading, skincare) is oustanding and hands down the best of her kind. She is highly skilled, impressive and does an oustanding job with brow shaping and makes the painful wax and thread process actually super enjoyable. I can't believe I actually enjoy going. Which left the rest of all of the clients with nowhere to go except for the locker room waiting area and the six chairs in the salt room. I wish somebody had told me this before when I was booking because I would've picked a different day or even a different time for my appointment. Great service. Great venue. Great stylists. This place is pricey but you get what you pay for! Amy Cox is an expert at hair and I have never left her salon unhappy. One time, I was late to my appointment and because the salon closed at 8, I wasn't going to be able to have my hair colored ( I got in at 7). Amy, though, wanted to make sure that I was feeling beautiful leaving the salon, so she stayed an hour after closing just to dye and blow dry my hair! I was so thankful for that bc there was no other day I could've got my hair before the holidays! She is an amazing stylist who knows how to work with natural hair (afro). I can come to her for everything from a haircut to a great blowout and flat iron (aka press and curl).She also can do ANY hair type and I have sent many friends to Camille.G2O is on Newbury Street, but has a less pretentious vibe than most spas while providing high quality service with high quality products. Attended G2O for a very long time when it was on the other block of Newbury Street where it was originally Giuliano's... Yes, that long. I've always loved the spa based on the massage services which is the main reason why I go and once in awhile I end up going to have a facial. But what prevents me from giving this Spa 5 stars is because of the inconsistency with the facility cleanliness and upgrades. I really don't know what's going on with management but I feel that the showers are not being cleaned thoroughly. For example, hair stuck in the drain. Also, there needs to be a regrout on the tiles and shaving plastic covers are left on of the shower seat. I just don't feel that somebody's attending the showers in detail which is really important. Recently, the brine room was adjusted of having a complete blackout during its colored cycle. Which makes it difficult to read a magazine during the relaxation. The jacuzzi is fine and can only fit a limited amount of people. However, the only concern is that metal bar which helps you go in the tub. It's a bit wobbly and it has been quite loose for the past few years. I don't know why it's not tightened up. Overall, I enjoy attending Spalidays and think they have really good deals and prices I do like the fact that they have the last minute web prices. I really think it's important that the spa takes a note of what I'm saying since a very long-term customer. I don't like changing Spas only because I'm comfortable but that doesn't mean that the spa has to be. Read Less

Boston is a tough city to find good day spas.  But it's winter and freezing so I finally checked out G20.  As others have stated, buying any treatment gives you access to all the facilities - I ended up booking the Bali experience last minute since it was the only appointment left.  If I were to do it again, I'd book a massage to get access to all the facilities for the day.  To be honest, the Bali experience was a bit underwhelming - it's a glorified steam room with fancy lights and sound effects but I was slightly bored and was tempted to smuggle in my Kindle to read.  Having said that, I do think the Bali experience is perfect for a bachelorette/girls spa day but you can get the same benefits from using the steam room.The amenities includes the penthouse with fireplace, roof deck, hot tub, brine room, and steam room.  I think G20 is ideal for a bachelorette.  If you're doing a solo day, I definitely recommend bringing a book and was tempting to tote along some of my own products (face mask for steam room, etc.).  The facilities never felt crowded, though I didn't go on a weekend and I called ahead to confirm nothing was booked for a private party.G20 has a lot of potential - they do have basic snacks like apples and granola as well as K-cups and decaf espresso with Coffee Mate, but it would be great if there were nicer options (i.e. real tea, sliced fruit, chocolate/yogurt covered pretzels, water with cucumber/citrus).  Amenities were fine but in most spas it would be expected to offer mouth wash, as well as exfoliating salt and cucumber slices. This would have been 5 stars at one time until one day right before our next appointment they called and arbitrarily said they were changing my services because of a supposed medical contraindication. I explained to them I'd been receiving the same services right straight along and that my doctor saw nothing wrong with it. I offered to bring a note from him and sign a waiver but they were adamant that my doctor's opinion didn't matter, only their manager's did. I asked to speak directly to the manager to clear this up and was told I couldn't do that and then they got very rude and told me to either agree to the new service or cancel but to stop wasting their time arguing about it. This place has really great potential. My sister and I had wonderful massages and loved both of our massage therapists. However what made us give it a mediocre review is the lack of keeping up with cleaning around the wet areas. There were wet towels on the floor that were supposed to be bathmats but they were soaked so not so nice. The shower I used was clogged, did not drain properly and there was hair everywhere. The hot tub was also not filled up all the way, and was visibly dirty. On the plus side- the penthouse was really relaxing and we so enjoyed having hot tea on the roof deck after our treatments. So- I would go back purely to see the massage therapist that I had because she gave me one of the best massages I have ever had! However, I probably wouldn't use some of the wet amenities. Read Less

Went here for my birthday treated by my lovely girlfriends! It was everyone's first time here so we didn't know what to expect. They have so many floors that I was confused which floor was what. But we got the hang of it.We all were waiting for treatments so it was nice to have added amenity room to sit and wait in.We loved the salt room, it was very relaxing and it has about 6 lounge chairs and can be full depending on the times. There is also a outdoor rooftop where you can semi-enjoy the back bay scenery. Next to the rooftop bar there is an indoor hot tub which was very nice! This is the 4th Bachelorette party I have planned with G2O and as usual I have zero regrets.  The main reason I go here is because I never get a complaint and everyone has a great time...let alone that they are amazing to deal with.  Chelsey was so easy to work with and I cannot thank her enough for allowing me to make changes and ask probably a million stupid questions without a hint of annoyance.  We all partook in the Bali Experience and then had a variety of services, we all enjoyed the Penthouse and lounging on the roof deck.  It was also great to have Cafeteria cater the brunch pizza as an early afternoon snack....no one needs a bunch of hangry girls ;)So anyone looking for a girls day out or just personal services please try this place out.  They are all amazing and talented and just there to give you a great experience! I had a truly relaxing so day at G2O. When I arrived, the receptionist brought me up to the top floors (the whole place is 5 stories) to show me around before my appointment. I had a facial, manicure, and pedicure. The locker rooms are small, but nice. There is only one bathroom, but since it went crowded when I was there it was not an issue. There are two showers (with changing areas) and a steam room for two. There was also a sitting room in an alcove overlooking Newbury street and beyond. I used the steam room first, then went to the Brine room across the hall. The Brine room is a little chilly and there are lounge chairs in it which blankets on them. The robe I was given went almost to the floor (I'm short), so the blanket was not necessary. The brine room had a waterfall and soothing lights/music. The floor above has a sitting room and a rooftop patio. Since it was December I did not go outside. There is a nice city view from there though. The treatments: I loved my facial while it was going in, but I was so red even five hours later that I felt like I had to put on way more makeup then I usually do in order to look normal for a party I was going to later. Regardless, it was both educational and relaxing, and Gina was able to clear my skin up of blackheads. I just don't suggest doing it on the same day of a big event/needing to be in public if you am have very sensitive skin like I do. Anne did my manicure and pedicure. She was really cool. She had the perfect balance of keeping up conversation, but without feeling like you had to keep talking if you didn't want to. She has a steady hand and made my nails look better than they ever have! Only complaint is that they do not do gel nails there, since they last longer and cut down on drying time. Read Less
