I’ve been going to this salon for 2 years and I love the service that I receive from Khahn. Nobody does the coffin/ballerina nail shape better than him. The customer service is friendly and welcoming. The place is very clean and they provide water and fresh fruit each visit. I’ve highly recommended this salon to all of my friends and family. The manager was mean and heartlessly rude. My 3 year old son decided to push his stroller into this shop after playing on the kid rides outside of the salon. So as not to make it a game, i did not chase or yell to him but briskly walked in after him. My son spotted a bathroom, went in and shut the door (toddler style), BOOM. I of course go in to get him. Turns out, he has to go to the bathroom. So, I asked one of the techs if it was ok. She nodded yes. When my son was finished he wanted to push the stroller again, I told him no. He gets mad and begins to throw a tantrum. Next came a knock on the door. I answer. The manager tells me we need to leave. I let him know what happened and that I need a minute. I explained that my son is just 3 and he his throwing a tantrum, but he’s going to ride out in his stroller. The manager then told me that he’s trying to run a business and that I needed to get my son out of there. Now, I am appalled. I told him that I understood he had a business and asked him if he had children. He said no, I said ok so, you wouldn’t understand. I told him we would leave but I needed a minute and shut the door. I get my son into the stroller and we leave. I called the manager to let him know that I felt he was rude. Instead of being reasonable, he continued to be rude, proceeded to judge me as a parent and then accused me of beating my son in his bathroom. Sidebar thought: If he was so concerned about the welfare of my son, when he knocked on the door he could have asked if my son was ok or if I need any help. Instead he was mean-spirited and unempathetic. Don’t spend your money with ugly people. Read Less

I was just here on Sunday 4/15/18. My husband purchased a gift certificate for me for my birthday. The package that I received included a pedicure, manicure and massage. I was totally excited, as I had never been to this nail salon before and wanted to check it out. The place appears to be very clean upon entry, but there are some things that I witnessed while having services completed that are not so sanitary... 1) The pedicure that I received included paraffin wax. When the wax was applied, the technician carried over the wax pot and put my foot inside of it. How many hands or feet do they dip in that same wax pot? 2) There was a lady getting a pedicure beside me but she was finished before me. When her service was completed her technician came back to get his tools, but only rinsed the bowl out before running water for the next client 3) There was a massage included in my service, after getting my manicure, the “massage therapist” walked me back to the massage room. When we got to the room, there was someone wrapped up in the blanket asleep on the massage table! The gentleman asked me to give him a minute as the sleeping employee got up, exited the room and went to the room next door. He invited me into the room and explained the massage process. I looked at the table and noticed that he left the table just the sleeping employee left them when she got up...gathered in the middle of the table. He asked me to prepare for my massage by removing my top and directed me to lay on top of the blankets. He did not change the blanket, but he did place a fresh towel over the pillow (which smelled like corn chips, by the way). After the massage, he told me that I had a large knot on the right side of my back and asked if I had back problems. I told him that I do not have back problems. He then said, “Oh, ok. I was going to recommend that you go see an actual massage therapist if you do”. What?! I should have got up and walked out so many times, but I didn’t want to waste my husband’s money. I have gone to this spa occasionally over the last couple years. Today, after my pedicure was completed, I moved to the table to place my feet under the dryer/UV light. I waited to see if my technician, Tammy, was going to clean/sterilize the tub, but NO! She did a quick rinse with the faucet and immediately went to another client waiting to have her fingernails done. I asked a technician to speak with the manager. "Khan" came over shortly thereafter. I asked him how often they clean the foot tubs. He told me "every day." Puzzled, I then asked, "How many times each day?" He, apparently noticing I was searching for more specificity, replied "after each client." I told him I watched Tammy and she did not clean the tub. Khan argued me down, claiming they run a business there. I replied, "Well, all businesses do not have the same standards." He stuck with his response, being indignant and offering no apologies. I told him I also noticed they repeatedly direct their customers to the same first seats closest to the walkway of the salon and because of this practice, it was particularly unhygienic and egregious to have customers soak their feet in water with bacterial residue from so many customers floating around. (I recalled my visit to another spa a few months ago where a customer demanded the technician re-wash/disinfect her tub BEFORE filling the tub with water, despite the technician's assurance that the tub already had been cleaned. I now see why that customer was so insistent.) Since this experience was sorely lacking in proper customer service and exposed me to possible health threats, I told Khan I would NEVER patronize this business again. I got my nails done in December for my babyshower. Very basic short cut, simple. Great job, they lasted until January when I went for my fill and took my two year old for her birthday. They didn’t charge me for her. Nails lasted yet another month. Just went a couple weeks ago (February). Great service. I had my infant son with me and my nail tech made sure to accommodate me so I could tend to him if he got fussy. $45 per fill in for gel polish only once a month. I won’t complain Read Less

There is no busy chatter amongst the technicians the only conversations are those help with the technician and the client. They truly give you a...ll of their time and attention. My personal choice of technicians is Ben he is excellent and has been my technician for years. Many in the north county area know Ben and Mary and you will be pleased to find both of them there. I had an appt. set. and my technician took a walk in “emergency” nail fix on my time slot that lasted more than 25 minutes when I was already waiting well over half hour because I got there early. On Saturday ,July 22 I went to this Salon to have color change (gel) and a pedicure (gel). So we are clear , I had the same polish put on my nails and toes. Yesterday, Tuesday July 25 I noticed polish coming off my nails and curling up on another. So today I called the salon. They originally told me it was a 3 day period for getting services redone , until I mentioned Yelp review. One of the managers called me back and stated they would extend period and I could come back this week. Now here is the thing I live about 45 minutes or  more from the salon and it is not convenient. I just happened to be I Waldorf at the St Charles mall and decided to pop in there.I asked if they could give me a credit. I stated it didn't have to be the entire amount. The manager Khan started NO. I told him I would try to get there this week but my schedule is full. I stated that I would write a review and he got upset stating this was not fair. So it is fair for me to have Messed Up Nails and come all the way back there. Please note the technician was very nice and professional. Management Not. Look at what others have said some good and definitely some BAD. Don't go there . I spent almost $100 and this is what I get. Yesterday I called first to see how much the services I wanted would be I was told and confirmed the same prices when I arrived with the nice young lady at the front desk.She handed me gel nail polish swatches to look at and decide on a color. While picking polish I saw they offered the Chrome looking polish I'd been wanting for a long time now. I asked the front desk girl was this gel as well she said yes and that I could take the swatch with me to look over. (She never mentioned a price difference here between reg gel polish and the Chrome one).So I proceeded to have my services rendered. I particularly liked this place because I liked their massage chairs. Lol. Tony took care of me and he did an awesome job! I would go to him again. Although there was a mix up with the pricing. Wasn't his fault though. The nail tech in front of him is to blame.Right before Tony went to painting my nails with the chrome polish I picked out I asked him if the polish I was getting cost the same as the reg gel polish. He apparently was having difficulty understanding English so the nail tech directly behind me (I sat at station 11) said YES I then repeated my question to the other nail tech and he said YES again. So we proceed with services.I get to the nail counter and I'm quoted almost $90. Immediately I'm questioning how much everything was and learned that the polish I received was an extra $17. If I was told that when I asked the nail tech I would have got another color and not the Chrome. However the nail tech behind me answered YES to my question about the cost.So I tell the lady at the front desk the nail tech behind me said it was the same price as gel polish. He just so happened to be standing there as well and heard this conversation he says "No, you asked if the polish was hologram" I was like "No, I didn't.. I don't care what the polish is called. I asked about the price difference." This nail tech guy ARGUED ME DOWN and told me that I did not ask about price and that I asked if the polish was hologram. Granted the polish is holographic but I didn't call it that, I thought it was all considered Chrome...Hell Idk that's not my profession. So that word never even left my mouth. I could not believe this nail tech tried to tell me basically I was lying as if I was trying to get out of paying.Unfortunately I couldn't remember right off hand what my EXACT question was to my tech about the price difference at the time I was ready to pay. I didn't want to cause a scene even though HE CLEARLY ANSWERED YES to my question and it damn sure wasn't about hologram. So I just paid the $90 and as soon as I was in the parking lot of the mall I remembered my exact question. (I have terrible memory)But the experience alone was a lesson for me..make sure I am CRYSTAL clear with these techs because they don't GAF about you they just want they coins. That guy TOLD me WHAT I said and the word NEVER left my mouth...unbelievable.I haven't said the word hologram since Pokémon trading cards lol. Read Less

For 7 of them a week ago. Instead of asking walkins like me to wait, they ignored the appointment of the bridal party. I felt so bad for these ladies and the mother of the bride. How upseting when you made an appointment and they didn't honor it. They left and hope they found another place. I wouldn't suggest this place for your bridal party. I've always had great experiences here particularly when I was pregnant and after my daughter was born. Everyone was very kind and understanding as I waddled around with a big belly and then with a breastfeeding human strapped to me. However, this post is specifically about the lash extension service. I cannot speak for anyone but Chung but I sing her praises. For 45 dollars you can get individual cluster lashes that are better than any inexpensive lash service. I always am complimented on how realistic they are. Even one of my friends who is an avid luxury lash wearer was impressed! I've only had better when I paid at least 100 and even those were not significantly better. I will say the glue causes your eyes to water pretty extensively, as well as, I haven't been able to keep them for longer than 2 weeks but those are minimal concerns when considering the quality and price. All in all if you are seeking quality lashes for an affordable price than definitely check out Chung. Read Less

OMG! Love, love, love this place! I took my 13 year old daughter and her friend to Tropical Nail Salon for 2my daughter's birthday. I let the girls get paraffin manicures and I got a chocolate pedicure and we did the "upgrades" and got water and fruit, too. The girls loved their manis and felt like they received great service. I loved the gentleman who did my pedi! He was professional and gentle and, he scrubbed my rough, old feet so smooth, they were like baby's feet! The foot and leg massage was extremely relaxing, too. The shop itself is in the mall and well decorated and very clean. It's not cheap either. We paid about $100 for our services....but it was our splurge day. We will definitely go back! Read Less

Went in for an eyebrow wax. Tech asked how she did on the first eyebrow, I didn't like it. My eyebrows were completely full before going in, thus no reason why my eyebrow would not have any arch to it once it was waxed. Wanting to get it over with I told her to proceed to the next brow only for her to become aggressive, pushing my head around. I told her to stop, not even letting her finish the job due to her being so rude and rough. She then threw the tweezers and other items down and walked out. Not to mention she got wax in my eyelashes as well. I will never recommend this place nor spend my money here ever again. I did not become rude with these people and paid my money even though their service and attitude was beyond subpar. Good luck if you go after reading this review. You'll need it. Read Less

I will give it two stars because they have some very good nail techs! The employees can be very rude and they charge you for little things and will let you know at the end when it's time to pay. This has happen to me more than twice. I called around 7:30 and they told me they aren't taking anymore people when they close at 9pm & only asked for a fill in. Such an inconvenience! When I get my nails done they break a couple days later & even when I come back to get it fix its a hassle. Overall, I've been going here longer than I should. I won't be recommending this place to anyone. Read Less

The tech asked if I wanted clear polish and I asked for a buff instead which was quickly done and not a very good job. While getting my manicure, the manager says to me it will be $8 more because the buff takes more work. I explained I was not going to pay extra since I have never paid for a buff nor was I informed it would be more. Then she attempted to bargain and said how about $4.... I decided to go on with the $4. I was not very happy with the outcome. Today I passed the salon and the have a large sign outside saying mani/pedi $29.99 so I decided to give them another try. Well, when I called to make an appointment, I was told the price would be $35. I informed her I wanted the special and the lady who answered the phone said we only give that discount to the ladies. You want it or not. Of course I declined. Isn't this blatant discrimination when the sign does not differentiate? I went in for a manicure and pedicure. It was my first time so I didn't know who was good and who wasn't. I am very unhappy with my service. She did not trim my toe nails and they are completely uneven, not to mention they polish is sloppy. My manicure is even worse! I asked for my French not to be too thin and so she did them huge. I asked for her to make them smaller and she went down just a little bit. I felt like she didn't care how I wanted them, rather then just trying to hurry and get them done and over with. The manager was mean and heartlessly rude. My 3 year old son decided to push his stroller into this shop after playing on the kid rides outside of the salon. So as not to make it a game, i did not chase or yell to him but briskly walked in after him. My son spotted a bathroom, went in and shut the door (toddler style), BOOM. I of course go in to get him. Turns out, he has to go to the bathroom. So, I asked one of the techs if it was ok. She nodded yes. When my son was finished he wanted to push the stroller again, I told him no. He gets mad and begins to throw a tantrum. Next came a knock on the door. I answer. The manager tells me we need to leave. I let him know what happened and that I need a minute. I explained that my son is just 3 and he his throwing a tantrum, but he’s going to ride out in his stroller. The manager then told me that he’s trying to run a business and that I needed to get my son out of there. Now, I am appalled. I told him that I understood he had a business and asked him if he had children. He said no, I said ok so, you wouldn’t understand. I told him we would leave but I needed a minute and shut the door. I get my son into the stroller and we leave. I called the manager to let him know that I felt he was rude. Instead of being reasonable, he continued to be rude, proceeded to judge me as a parent and then accused me of beating my son in his bathroom. Sidebar thought: If he was so concerned about the welfare of my son, when he knocked on the door he could have asked if my son was ok or if I need any help. I was just here on Sunday 4/15/18. My husband purchased a gift certificate for me for my birthday. The package that I received included a pedicure, manicure and massage. I was totally excited, as I had never been to this nail salon before and wanted to check it out. The place appears to be very clean upon entry, but there are some things that I witnessed while having services completed that are not so sanitary... 1) The pedicure that I received included paraffin wax. When the wax was applied, the technician carried over the wax pot and put my foot inside of it. How many hands or feet do they dip in that same wax pot? 2) There was a lady getting a pedicure beside me but she was finished before me. When her service was completed her technician came back to get his tools, but only rinsed the bowl out before running water for the next client 3) There was a massage included in my service, after getting my manicure, the “massage therapist” walked me back to the massage room. When we got to the room, there was someone wrapped up in the blanket asleep on the massage table! The gentleman asked me to give him a minute as the sleeping employee got up, exited the room and went to the room next door. He invited me into the room and explained the massage process. I looked at the table and noticed that he left the table just the sleeping employee left them when she got up...gathered in the middle of the table. He asked me to prepare for my massage by removing my top and directed me to lay on top of the blankets. He did not change the blanket, but he did place a fresh towel over the pillow (which smelled like corn chips, by the way). After the massage, he told me that I had a large knot on the right side of my back and asked if I had back problems. I told him that I do not have back problems. He then said, “Oh, ok. I was going to recommend that you go see an actual massage therapist if you do”. What?! I should have got up and walked out so many times, but I didn’t want to waste my husband’s money. I have gone to this spa occasionally over the last couple years. Today, after my pedicure was completed, I moved to the table to place my feet under the dryer/UV light. I waited to see if my technician, Tammy, was going to clean/sterilize the tub, but NO! She did a quick rinse with the faucet and immediately went to another client waiting to have her fingernails done. I asked a technician to speak with the manager. "Khan" came over shortly thereafter. I asked him how often they clean the foot tubs. He told me "every day." Puzzled, I then asked, "How many times each day?" He, apparently noticing I was searching for more specificity, replied "after each client." I told him I watched Tammy and she did not clean the tub. Khan argued me down, claiming they run a business there. I replied, "Well, all businesses do not have the same standards." He stuck with his response, being indignant and offering no apologies. I told him I also noticed they repeatedly direct their customers to the same first seats closest to the walkway of the salon and because of this practice, it was particularly unhygienic and egregious to have customers soak their feet in water with bacterial residue from so many customers floating around. (I recalled my visit to another spa a few months ago where a customer demanded the technician re-wash/disinfect her tub BEFORE filling the tub with water, despite the technician's assurance that the tub already had been cleaned. I now see why that customer was so insistent.) Since this experience was sorely lacking in proper customer service and exposed me to possible health threats, I told Khan I would NEVER patronize this business again. Yesterday, Tuesday July 25 I noticed polish coming off my nails and curling up on another. So today I called the salon. They originally told me it was a 3 day period for getting services redone , until I mentioned Yelp review. One of the managers called me back and stated they would extend period and I could come back this week. Now here is the thing I live about 45 minutes or  more from the salon and it is not convenient. I just happened to be I Waldorf at the St Charles mall and decided to pop in there.I asked if they could give me a credit. I stated it didn't have to be the entire amount. The manager Khan started NO. I told him I would try to get there this week but my schedule is full. I stated that I would write a review and he got upset stating this was not fair. So it is fair for me to have Messed Up Nails and come all the way back there. Please note the technician was very nice and professional. Management Not. Yesterday I called first to see how much the services I wanted would be I was told and confirmed the same prices when I arrived with the nice young lady at the front desk.She handed me gel nail polish swatches to look at and decide on a color. While picking polish I saw they offered the Chrome looking polish I'd been wanting for a long time now. I asked the front desk girl was this gel as well she said yes and that I could take the swatch with me to look over. (She never mentioned a price difference here between reg gel polish and the Chrome one).So I proceeded to have my services rendered. I particularly liked this place because I liked their massage chairs. Lol. Tony took care of me and he did an awesome job! I would go to him again. Although there was a mix up with the pricing. Wasn't his fault though. The nail tech in front of him is to blame.Right before Tony went to painting my nails with the chrome polish I picked out I asked him if the polish I was getting cost the same as the reg gel polish. He apparently was having difficulty understanding English so the nail tech directly behind me (I sat at station 11) said YES I then repeated my question to the other nail tech and he said YES again. So we proceed with services.I get to the nail counter and I'm quoted almost $90. Immediately I'm questioning how much everything was and learned that the polish I received was an extra $17. If I was told that when I asked the nail tech I would have got another color and not the Chrome. However the nail tech behind me answered YES to my question about the cost.So I tell the lady at the front desk the nail tech behind me said it was the same price as gel polish. He just so happened to be standing there as well and heard this conversation he says "No, you asked if the polish was hologram" I was like "No, I didn't.. I don't care what the polish is called. I asked about the price difference." This nail tech guy ARGUED ME DOWN and told me that I did not ask about price and that I asked if the polish was hologram. Granted the polish is holographic but I didn't call it that, I thought it was all considered Chrome...Hell Idk that's not my profession. So that word never even left my mouth. I could not believe this nail tech tried to tell me basically I was lying as if I was trying to get out of paying.Unfortunately I couldn't remember right off hand what my EXACT question was to my tech about the price difference at the time I was ready to pay. I didn't want to cause a scene even though HE CLEARLY ANSWERED YES to my question and it damn sure wasn't about hologram. So I just paid the $90 and as soon as I was in the parking lot of the mall I remembered my exact question. (I have terrible memory)But the experience alone was a lesson for me..make sure I am CRYSTAL clear with these techs because they don't GAF about you they just want they coins. That guy TOLD me WHAT I said and the word NEVER left my mouth...unbelievable.I haven't said the word hologram since Pokémon trading cards lol. Read Less

I've always had great experiences here particularly when I was pregnant and after my daughter was born. I cannot speak for anyone but Chung but I sing her praises. For 45 dollars you can get individual cluster lashes that are better than any inexpensive lash service. I always am complimented on how realistic they are. Even one of my friends who is an avid luxury lash wearer was impressed! I've only had better when I paid at least 100 and even those were not significantly better. I will say the glue causes your eyes to water pretty extensively, as well as, I haven't been able to keep them for longer than 2 weeks but those are minimal concerns when considering the quality and price. I let the girls get paraffin manicures and I got a chocolate pedicure and we did the "upgrades" and got water and fruit, too. The girls loved their manis and felt like they received great service. I loved the gentleman who did my pedi! He was professional and gentle and, he scrubbed my rough, old feet so smooth, they were like baby's feet! The foot and leg massage was extremely relaxing, too. My eyebrows were completely full before going in, thus no reason why my eyebrow would not have any arch to it once it was waxed. Wanting to get it over with I told her to proceed to the next brow only for her to become aggressive, pushing my head around. I told her to stop, not even letting her finish the job due to her being so rude and rough. She then threw the tweezers and other items down and walked out. Not to mention she got wax in my eyelashes as well. I will never recommend this place nor spend my money here ever again. I did not become rude with these people and paid my money even though their service and attitude was beyond subpar. Good luck if you go after reading this review. You'll need it. Read Less

I will give it two stars because they have some very good nail techs! The employees can be very rude and they charge you for little things and will let you know at the end when it's time to pay. This has happen to me more than twice. I called around 7:30 and they told me they aren't taking anymore people when they close at 9pm & only asked for a fill in. Such an inconvenience! When I get my nails done they break a couple days later & even when I come back to get it fix its a hassle. Overall, I've been going here longer than I should. The tech asked if I wanted clear polish and I asked for a buff instead which was quickly done and not a very good job. While getting my manicure, the manager says to me it will be $8 more because the buff takes more work. I explained I was not going to pay extra since I have never paid for a buff nor was I informed it would be more. Then she attempted to bargain and said how about $4.... I decided to go on with the $4. I was not very happy with the outcome. Today I passed the salon and the have a large sign outside saying mani/pedi $29.99 so I decided to give them another try. Well, when I called to make an appointment, I was told the price would be $35. I informed her I wanted the special and the lady who answered the phone said we only give that discount to the ladies. You want it or not. Of course I declined. Isn't this blatant discrimination when the sign does not differentiate? I went in for a manicure and pedicure. It was my first time so I didn't know who was good and who wasn't. I am very unhappy with my service. She did not trim my toe nails and they are completely uneven, not to mention they polish is sloppy. My manicure is even worse! I asked for my French not to be too thin and so she did them huge. I asked for her to make them smaller and she went down just a little bit. I felt like she didn't care how I wanted them, rather then just trying to hurry and get them done and over with.
