So overall the experience was awful but nails turned out fine. The lady who I first sat down with made getting acrylics impossible and tried telling me the color I wanted wasn't good for my skin tone and was trying to convince me to get a more expensive procedure consistently. Then she wouldn't cut my nails to the shape I wanted and did a god awful job of putting the acrylic powder on and she literally had to rip the whole thing off &she didn't know the nail shapes and did it completely wrong. The only good nail artist in there is Joe and thank his he was there to clean up her mess. And even he did a bumpy job in the end. Overall, I wouldn't recommend coming here. Also don't get your eyebrows done here because the wax is too hot and they basically take off your whole eyebrow! Read Less

Start to finish I was in there for 35 mins, and that included 12 min under the dryer. No doubt, they were busy on Friday afternoon, but don't overbook your three person staff. I had to finish rubbing in the lotion for my 20 second massage... come on. She quickly ran through my manicure. No clean up around the edges. I can see spots where it will eventually peel from the nail... great. (By the way, I'm still in the parking lot. I just had to get this review up on Yelp.) This is my favorite spot to get a mani/pedi and waxing too! Lynn always does an amazing job putting on acrylics! If you want your nails done perfectly go see her! I've been going for years now! It's a small place so your best bet is to make an appointment because When it's busy it is a little stuffy and not much room to sit. Great little nail place! I debated for awhile whether or not I should write a review but here goes:I personally did not like Star Nails. I found the staff to be courteous and friendly but overall I did not quite enjoy my time there and do not think I will be going back.The first thing I noticed was the fact that they did not have any brush on glitters for nail designs, which was exactly what I wanted but could not get. Their selection for gel nail polish glitters was also not very large.I do think my nails were rushed, as I do not think my gel manicure had enough layers to it before it was considered done. The day after one of my nails chipped, which has never happened to me before with a gel manicure.I went with my sister as well and a jewel she had on her gel manicure also fell off the day after, which to me was surprising because with a gel manicure I had before (at a different nail salon), the jewels stayed in place for over a week. I also was not particularly fond of the cleanliness of the entire salon. When I was told to come sit at a nail station I found someone else's nail clippings left on the counter. My sister enjoyed the salon, but I strongly think that for this same price range your money would be better spent somewhere else. Read Less

Tiny space and so crowded I ended up leaving with wet nails and just sitting in my car.  Flies everywhere, some kind of constant beeping from one of the machines plus the TV with the news baring in the background. So I have been living in Olney my whole life and this was my first time here and let me tell you, they are amazing! We called the same day to make an appointment and we were in and out in under an hour.  I had Kathy and she was so warm and friendly and asked me if I liked what she was doing every step of the way. She made sure I left there with exactly what I wanted. My mother got a regular mani/pedi and they looked amazing, like gel almost very smooth and shiny. I come here a couple times a year to get a pedicure.  I put my big feet in this water container and the workers make them feel better.  They certainly work for their money when I come in!  Everyone is very nice even though they speak Japanese 3/4 of the time - probably saying my feet are too big and nasty for their liking. Star Nails is a very reliable nail salon. The technicians and receptionists are pleasant and the salon is clean...it is a little small inside, yet it feels cozy.  Linh is amazing! All of the technicians are very good at what they do...I just always go to Linh and I'm usually thrilled with my nails! She does French freehand and it is perfect! I gladly make the drive from DC to Olney every couple weeks to get my nails done here. Read Less

Star Nails is by far, the BEST nail salon in the DMV. I've been coming here for 8 years and absolutely LOVE it! They are very customer focused and appreciative of your business. Lynn owns the salon and really runs this business well! They LOVE their customers and have an AMAZING annual Christmas party to show appreciation to their loyal customers! Tried this place for the first time today. Tiny, clean, unassuming. Great polish selection. Wonderful pedi chairs. Can only accommodate a few at a time with two ladies working. $37 for mani/pedi -- decent pricing! A hole in the wall, sorta kinda literally, but a wonderful place.Its hidden in this strip mall behind the mattress discounters on Georgia Ave very close to the intersection of 108. I have been going there for 3 years now and love the service, Julie and Annie do the best body waxing ever, and my pedicures always look great and last a long time. The staff is friendly and the place is cozy, sometimes I feel like i just need to go there to escape the overwhelming every day hustle and bustle, sit in the pedicure chair and close my eyes while the chair does the back massage thing which after a night of reading textbooks is a great treat! The prices are reasonable and they are very flexible when making appointments, they always accomodate my hectic life and fit me in when I call saying things like ( Oh can I come in today for a pedi or waxing, sorry forgot to make an appointment).  3 years now and I always walk out  of there happy. These gals do a great and thorough job for a very reasonable price. Some of the other shops in Olney, while prettier to look at, either don't paint all the way to the cuticle so the polish is grown out in a few days or it all just chips off. I have been coming here since middle school, way over a decade ago. They changed management a while ago and i love the new owner, posh spice, she's so cute. I cant remember her name but she has the victoria beckham haircut. I wont let anyone but Annie touch my eyebrows. She is the best. They just got new massage pedicure chairs. And $35 for a basic mani/ pedi??? Not bad at all. Ive never walked out without feeling and looking great. Be patient and respectful and they'll get you in and out. But who wants to rush getting pampered. My fave person to do my nails is the owners mom. But you better tip!!! Because these ladies deserve it. And they can add your tip to your total and charge it. How rare is that? Ill never let a white girl at some ritzy salon touch my nails. Huge rip off. I don't even live near here anymore, but everytime I come to visit I try to make it in. At least for a $10 eyebrow wax. I really don't go to anyone else for one, I just maintain with tweezers in between. Read Less

This place is very hidden...behind the Mattress Discounters...but has been there for 5 years...happens to be the only place you can get your nails done and be out by 7:30PM...yeah I know...rolling in Olney at 7PM looking to get my nails done (unheard of but true...job interview the next day....) and there was Star nails to save the day.My french manicure at $18 was perfect under the care of Ms. Lee. She was so patient and worryless even though it was snowing outside...her hand massage and lovely conversation treating you like a million bucks....ok I could not help to talk about food...and I got her favorites...Nam and Pho 75 in Rockville.i know she woooed me in a good way by giving me an extra layer of coating in my nails...Will I come back..YES! no doubt...at 7PM...no one else in the area does...
