I went here for a gel manicure and they did a very good job. It's a small place and with only a few technicians so make sure you call ahead of time. Although thy tend to fill up quickly they do their best to fit you in. Read Less

I have been going to this salon since A and L opened A&L Nails.  This is a family-run business and the ladies of A&L become friends.  They have a regular clientele and we are very loyal due to the high quality of the services they provide to the public.  I have been to several different salons over the last 25 years, this one by far is the best; and I stopped going elsewhere once I experienced their quality services.  Being the shop is small and always busy, it is wise to get an appointment rather than walking in to get service.  I have a regular appointment and truly enjoy my indulgence while there.  Highly recommend! I guess business is so great here that they can turn away patrons. I walk in the shop around four thirty, I can see its a small business but the lady at the front nail station doesn't speak right away, so when she finally does she tells me "we busy come tomorrow" in which I replied "if I leave now I'm never coming back."Where is good customer service?! at least ask me if I mind waiting, I don't but wasn't given the option, or explained that they go buy appointments if that was the case. *sigh* I can't vouch for their work buy the customer experience sucked Read Less

I wanted to give this place a second chance before reviewing thinking that my first experience was a fluke. Unfortunately this does not seem to be the case. My husband and I just moved back to the area and I was looking for a new regular nail salon. It is very obvious that the employees favor their regulars which is unfortunate since I am not yet a regular. Visit 1: I made an appointment for a mani/pedi and was taken about 20 minuets late. I know it's hard to stay on schedule, when one client runs over it's like a domino effect. I waited patiently and read my book. The pedi was great and the manicure was going well until a regular came in (said hi to every technician by name and one asked about her mother and sister who recently visited). She walked up to the technician to let her know that she was there for her appointment, which was obvious since the place is tiny with only 3 nail tables. She then proceeded to sit right next to us and ask if she was almost done with me. Well she wasn't and proceeded to rush through my hand massage (1 minute tops). So though I waited patiently I was rushed and missed out on the best part of the manicure. Visit 2: called to schedule a 4:00 appointment. I was asked if I could come in at 4:45 instead which I had no problem with. I received a call around noon asking if I could come in at 5:15 instead. This was a lot later than I wanted but trusted that they needed to push it back so I would not have to wait. I get there at 5:15 l, let them know I was there for my appointment and started looking at the colors. Another customer came in 5 minutes after me again saying hi to all the technicians asking one how their birthday was and another about when her daughter leaves for college (obviously a regular) and was taken within by 5:25 by the first technician available. I was not attended to until 5:45. When I was finally attended to, my technician got up at least 5 times to answer the phone and review the schedule book.I'm giving 3 stars for the quality of the service but taking two away for the timeliness and customer service. I'm thinking if maybe I get there at 8:00 am when they open I won't have to wait? It is unfortunate about the customer service as I would have been a regular had I received the same customer service the regulars received. The search continues. Read Less

Called A+L for a gel fill and got an incredibly quick appt.  When I arrived I was greeted promptly and professionally.  The staff are all very friendly as are the clients - you can tell that the clients have been coming here for some time as there is great conversation with the staff and much laughter.  Lynn did an exceptional job on my nails, even correcting the very bad gel set I had gotten elsewhere.  I'm a believer and will definitely return! A&L Nails is a little treasure tucked away in Kensington Antique Row. It's a cozy little nail shop, just a few manicure and pedicure stations each, so I recommend calling to make an appointment. I have never had a pedicure here but on my first visit, the regulars in the salon made sure to let me know they were the best. I soon found this out for myself, receiving the best gel manicure I've ever had. It lasted perfectly for what felt like ages longer than any other nail salon. My manicurist did a great job avoiding my cuticles with the polish. The only reason I'm giving four stars is that they have only a few colors for gel manicures. I'm considering picking up my own bottles of Gelish so I can have the sparkles I desire from the best manicurists I've encountered in the DMV area. They are very reasonably priced as well... my gel manicures are $25! Read Less

A & L nails is a hidden gem in Kensington.  All three  women provide THE best service and results. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Anna, Lynn and Oahn go out of their way to meet your needs. They are absolutely the best!  I called on a Friday evening in an effort to get a last minute pedicure however they had already closed. Fifteen minutes later I received a call from A&L stating that another customer had just come to the shop requesting a pedicure and they wanted to see if I still wanted to come in.
