I have been going to this salon since my Howard days and most of my appts have been with Tony. He has been my nail tech prior to me having my children. I know about his family, etc...needless to say, we've a very good and consistent client/technician relationship over the course of 10 years. There has been only a few times I've strayed away from the shop, once when he got a little bit of an attitude with me because I asked him to change the polish after painting 2 nails (I guess he got offended by that but I didn't know the polish would look so bad), and during the times I was nursing my babies and was taking a break from getting nails. Today I walked in and immediately felt the atmosphere had changed. I noticed a sign on the desk that nail services would have to be paid for prior to nail services being started, which caught me off guard. It wasn't many patrons in the shop and Tony was sitting in his chair with no patrons. As I walked up to the desk to sign in, I always look over at Tony just to let him know I'm here and normally, he would call me over. Today he just sat in his chair and looked at me. I noticed he mouthed something to another tech who immediately ran up to me and asked what I wanted before allowing me to sign in. I told her that I had previously had a fill and the tech did a shitty job (was supporting a nail tech referenced by my SIL). My acrylic was lifting at the cuticle after only a week of wear and I know from wearing nails for so long that I would have to get that part of the nail filed, cut, or clipped off and after I could get a fill in (Tony had done that for me several times before). This tech immediately and without hesitation told me that I would have to wait 2 weeks to get a fill or they couldn't do anything for my nails unless I got them soaked completely off and started again. I looked at her crazy; I know for a fact I didn't have to get my nails soaked off for lifting acrylic at the cuticle edge. My nails actually look like they needed to be filled. It would be a different story had I had air pockets under my nail or lifting from the nail edge, but this wasn't the case. I was suffering from what would look like a needed fill where the acrylic began to lift...plus I'm pregnant so my nails could very well be growing faster. She was unnecessarily loud and certain that they would not touch my nails unless I got them soaked off, as to upsell more unnecessary services. I told her, "That's okay, I'll go somewhere else" and called my son who had started to sit in the waiting area. She was loud, nasty, and shouted "OKAY" as she walked away speaking in her language. The worst part is Tony continued to look at me as I walked out the door. I have been a customer of his since college in my younger 20s, two college graduations, and countless other special occasions. He knew my children because they have been in the shops and he spoke frequently about his boys. He knew that I would get so comfortable in his chair that I'd fall asleep, so he always had gum for me to chew. All of that history for him to watch the interaction I had with this nail tech and not even want to look at my nails to see that she didn't know what she was talking about. I walked out of there and will never return again. I don't recommend anyone getting comfortable with this place. You may have a good day of services or maybe even 10 years of good service, but your support and dollars will not always guarantee good and substantial service. Read Less
