I hardly get my nails done. So when I went I asked for a manicure not knowing it was called a fullset (using fake nails). One worker started speaking in their language I guess telling them I wanted a fullset but asked for a manicure. Well after that it seem like the whole nail salon was talking about me in their language while staring at me. It was so embarrassing. The manger didn't make it no better because she told me to come back when I can make up my mind on what I wanted. I am rating this place just based on appointment times! I would go to Judy and she does great nails however every time I make an appointment I usually sit there waiting for her to get there or wait at least a half an hour for her to finish with someone else. Today I made an appointment to see her at 12 to get eyelashes done and a pedicure by someone else, I get my pedicure done and I wait and she knows I'm waiting and apparently she had another appointment to do nails so meanwhile I'm waiting 30 minutes and I have a cook out to host so I could no longer wait . As soon as I go to pay for my pedicure she tells me that she can do my eyelashes now .....ummm it's too late, I have to go! Whenever I make an appointment I expect them to be on time as I am always early I can understand 5 to 10 minutes late . They just lost a customer and I always tip over 50% but apparently that doesn't matter there anyway . I will find a new place that cares about being on time and cares about their clients . First time client, manager seems off barley introduce me to the place just told me "what you want?, sign your name" that threw me off but I kept patience I picked red nail polish because I wanted a design over my white nail polish and the lady didn't understand me so I got frustrated and let it go. They renovated so it look much nicer in there. I have been going there for 3 yrs cuz its close and convenient BUT today i have had enough!! The price went up to $10 for eyebrows (to pay for there renovation) and i have gotten the worst eyebrow job i have EVER received. Kim was the one who originally did my eyebrows and she left soo much black little hairs i might as well have not gotten my eyebrows done. The mirrors are so dirty its hard to see so i went out to my car and walked right back in. Kim had left. Other lady fixed them (mostly) but she plucked since they had already waxed. I was hoping this nail spot would be my go to place for a manicure since it is so close to my home. Unfortunately, after getting two gel manicures here, I am convinced their polish is just not as good. Came in at about 1:30 pm on a Friday afternoon. Had the pleasure of having Van do my gel manicure. She was thorough and efficient. She didn't talk much and was actually silent the entire time except for the usual "wash your hands, choose a color etc" but that was perfectly fine with me! It gave me the chance to relax!! I was in and out in about 45 minutes due to having my previous mani removed other than that it was quick. They use clean sterilized tools, have an array of gel polishes to choose from and they don't jack up or change the prices conveniently whenever they want to like their neighbors Clippers Nail Salon. I came here to get a full acrylic set by Amy and she did an amazing job. My nails looked beautiful and lasted long. My only issue was that it was done very fast and painfully. My nails were in pain for a couple days after. She didn't make sure I was comfortable. I would come back to see her but only because the nails make the experience worth it. So I've been coming here for a year since I moved close to the area. They always did a decent job and they are just so darn cheap so I kept coming. After today however, I will 100% start going to Phoenix Nails like everybody else I know in the area.1: The woman I had was rude from the start. She was to busy chatting with the technician in the chair next to me to start my service. Once she started she would literally STOP my service while she was deep in conversation. It was actually so bad that the woman in the chair next to me commented how rude it was, and how it makes it seem like they are talking about us when they do that. I simply agreed but did not say or do anything rude to the nail technician. However, my lady was very Obviously pissed.2. Next we move on to my manicure. She rushed through it in about 10 minutes. Never saying a word to me. By the very end just making it worse I realize this woman looks like what had to be fungus on her thumb nail she was using to do my manicure. I'm pretty sure that's enough to make you lose your license that's so disgusting.3. Their card reader wasn't working (yea somehow I was still planning on paying for this) and instead of letting me know what's going she spoke in her language to another lady then made a call holding my card reading the numbers. I was like excuse me what's the problem? They said they had to enter in manually. Yes I will be double checking on that tomorrow.4. FINALLY I get out in the sunlight and realize what a sh*t job this lady really did. Basically, I'm not rich. When I go to get a simple mani and pedi it's my "me" time. HORRIBLE! This place is NOT what it used to be... I would give it ZERO stars if I could.I have been going to Mimi Nails since I was in high school (it's been over 10 years) and at first the service was great, they'd greet you in a friendly manner and the nail techs were very gentle and good at what they do. I don't come as often now, but figured I owe them my loyalty as a customer and came here over other nail salons I could go to, boy was I wrong...I walk in with a friend and we decide we want gel manicures. We barely are given time to look at the gel nail color wheels (which are all chipped and half of them have broken off- and no one bothers to replace this) but we are literally shoved into our chairs. I ask if I can see the colors again, and after some obvious loud badmouthing in their language they hand over the color wheel. As I am looking at it, the rude nail tech is grabbing one of my hands. It's like RELAX give me a second to decide what I want, I don't understand this rush was about. there was no one waiting or anything. I feel like they want to rush and get the person out of the chair in case someone else walks in.. there is no sense of service or good quality here anymore.So I decide on which color I want- using ONE HAND- since she dunked my other hand in the water bowl forcefully. Then she starts the manicure process, and this was the WORST MANICURE ever, she was so rough with me that she cut my pinky finger during the cuticle trimming real badly it kept bleeding. Then she applied like 20 drops of the antiseptic liquid which made it even more irritated- 2 or 3 drops would have been enough. I wish I got her name I didn't but she's the short and chubby asian woman with a really round face, kind of stands out from the rest. I told her not to trim my cuticles anymore since she hurt me real badly, she said ok but continued to do so! What's even worse is that she used the most abrasive side of the nail file over my skin irritating and cutting me even more! What I should have done was just gotten up and left or asked for another tech instead of letting her finish the job... As much as I did not want to tip her I still did, but my fingers have been hurting since, and I am writing this the following day. I am NEVER going back to Mimi Nails again, as sad as I am saying that- the male owner is actually a really nice guy. As for the women, they need to either quit these jobs they obviously hate so much or learn to be nice and stop talking shit loudly in another language- if someone doesn't understand the words they can still pick up on the tone and attitude and realize you're talking shit. Don't work at a job that requires catering to people and providing service with these types of attitudes. And don't cut someone so badly that it hurts, bleeds, and leaves nasty SCARS all over their fingers. I mean what if I wanted to get my nails done before an engagement shoot?! Been coming here for years. I think it's overall a great place to come. I have figured out who I like to go to and the ones I'm not willing to let touch me or take my $$ and I'm really easy going. Yes, yes I know some customers are really rude too and almost insulting at times. ( I have witnessed this a few times). I have walked out due to feeling like a second rate customer after so many years of loyalty. I do give those I think are worth it -large tips to let them kno...w I appreciate the attention given to me ( after all- that's what we go there for, right? Relaxation, a little pampering and good customer service,). I have brought my friends and even my mom. I do think some of the girls there are unwelcoming and some make a person feel like we're bothering them. It's kind of sad as I do think the owners do try to maintain a reputable business. This place is really close to my house so I decided to try it out. From the outside this nail salon looks small but upon entering you realize how expansive it is. This is why I'm confused as to why they chose to do all face waxing in the middle of the salon. Not that I'm shy or anything I just find it kind is strange to be waxed in the middle of the salon in between the nail area and pedicure area. They have 4 chairs two on each side and they recline pretty far back. It reminds me of donating blood. Anyway it's just not something that I feel comfortable with. I guess I'm just spoiled. This isn't the reason for the 1 star.The reason I gave this place only 1 star is for employee attitudes. When you enter the salon you are not really greeted in a friendly manner. I kinda had the feeling I was disturbing them. They don't have a receptionist  which is ok but at least have some protocol for new clients who aren't familiar with salon. I stood patiently at the front counter for about 5 minutes until someone finally directed me to sign in and pick out a color. I like to use my own polish so that I can do minor touch ups at home. When I said that I brought my own polish I was then told yes told not asked that I should be getting the gel mani instead of just the traditional. Somehow this woman had super sonic eyesight and knew that my nails were in desperate need of a gel mani. I like to keep my nails short because for me it's just more functional. I was told my nails are short because they are weak. Mind you she was about 4 tables away from me. I proceeded to tell her I was not interested in getting it at this this time.  She then proceeded to tell her co workers how cheap I was in Vietnamese. Funny thing is I speak Vietnamese. I didn't express this to them for this exact reason. I really hate that this goes on in most nail salons.  It's rude. And besides that they think that just because people can't understand what they say it's ok but you can tell that you are being talked about. And that's not cool. Just an uncomfortable situation. I was ready to walk out but I had little options being it was late and I had an engagement to attend that night. After much protest from the nail tech they direct me to have a seat at one of the nail stations. The lady who referred to me as cheap ended up being the one to do my nails fun huh. Well she tried her best to change my mind by telling me how much a gel manicure would help my very thin and fragile nails but my mind was made up. All thru the manicure I had to sit and hear just about every employee including the owner who was loud herself belittle just about every customer that was getting a service. You are being paid for providing a service and if you feel that the tips you are getting aren't adequate instead of blaming the client look at the shabby service. The manicure she gave me was adequate at best.  I had to return because my manicure didn't even last thru the evening. After pretty much putting the blame on me they begrudgingly reapplied the polish and again they bad mouthed me in Vietnamese. I go to Mimi's for one service.  I break a fingernail occasionally deep enough that it can't be trimmed.  So I go to them for a silk wrap repair.  The silk wrap stays on the nail for about 6 weeks while the nail grows back.  They are priced very reasonable and since I go under an emergency, I'm always a walk-in.  I haven't waited too long for service -- it only takes about 10 minutes to do a silk wrap, so perhaps it's easy to fit me quickly. I want to be clear about things. This salon is walking distance from my house, and when I didn't have a car, I appreciated the convenience of sleeping in Saturday morning and treating myself to a mani/pedi or a wax without having to take the bus. And I did it of and on for a really long time... long enough to give a blanket review of almost all their services (and a good deal of their technicians).I will start with the cons:1) Unless you are there right as they open or right before they close, it's noisy. Really noisy. Especially from Thursday-Saturday (although duh, since those are the busy days).2) It's not the cleanest salon you'll go to. I also very rarely see the technicians wash their hands or prompt me to wash my hands *before* a service. And no, they don't use any kind of sanitizing spray as an alternative. And I've breathed more acrylic dust than I care to mention. Tsk tsk.3) As most of these shops, they rush. If I'm paying $80+ bucks for a mani/pedi and giving a generous tip, I really don't want to see dry skin on my heels or bubbles in my polish even before I leave the shop. I know they are trying to make the most money they can, but NO. So sloooow it dowwwn. Also, calling for an appointment simply does not work. I did it a number of times, and I still had to wait for them to finish a service they took on for fits and giggles although I arrived on time.4) Most of the technicians don't have any idea how to do much more than the first month of nail tech school - warm water manis, a quick pedi, and the basic square tip acrylic...which might still have small dents when filed and polished. Most grumble if you want almond or squoval tips. And gel polish designs? Nope nope nope. And...nope. Cave drawing in Lascaux are more precise.5) Eyebrow wax is good, if you're willing to wait. Ask for Judy.If you've gotten this far, you might be wondering why I even went to the shop for so long. And it's those TWO stars - their names are Mike and Judy. Write those names down.
