For the record, the staff was very friendly, the place was clean and my friend and I, who had appointments at 10 and then 11am, were able to stay together instead of one waiting in the chair while the other gets their hair done on the opposite side. So they get 5 stars for good chairside manner. For the hair styling itself, it's just ok. The three times that I've tried blo bars (this one twice actually, another in Tampa, FL for my own wedding) I leave looking good but then it usually falls down because it's so loose. The stylists do a decent job and have always been professional and courteous. However, the cost is on the high side given the style generally does not last a full day. Regarding the pictures, I actually asked for a Mohawk dutch braid but it turned out to be a French braid which was pretty so I just went with it. I think the third time is my limit. If I could give zero stars I would. I was told that my daughter appt was at 4:30pm. I told them, when I scheduled, that her hair was mixed hair. Not once was I told that she needed to be there EXACTLY at 4:30pm for the process. I called when I picked her up from school to tell them I was running a few minutes late. I was told that there is a 10 minute policy. My daughter arrived EXACTLY at 4:40pm and I was told that they could not see her because in order for the full blo out she needed to be there by 4:35pm. But the front desk girl claimed she told me that when I called on the way but no one told me that. I asked for the manager, Laurie, but was told she was out and I could leave a note. I opted out as I figured a nice review would suffice. Since I was parked directly in front of the salon, I decided to wait in my car and see if the next client arrived hoping they would no-show so I could slide my daughter back inside. With the appointments being 45 min apart, I figured a 30 min wait would be fine. I could catch up on emails ... Anyways, no one arrived. Instead, at exactly 5:30pm I saw both lazy women packed up and leaving out of the salon closing it for the day!!!! So the whole time, there was no other client AND they just shooed us away so they could leave early!!! I told you they were lazy. I knew it when I was talking to them earlier... they were stuttering and making excuses for not being able to do her hair. 5 minutes?!?! Seriously?!?! For 5 minutes, they just lost a customer. I run a business myself and I would never turn away money for 5 minutes. I would hustle and make it worth and then enjoy a nice fat tip BUT I guess these women don't think like that. The stylist didn't even have a client at the moment. They are just plain lazy. This salon is the slowest salon with unprofessional women working there. I'm surprised this place stays in business! It's always empty and they never have enough staff to accommodate walk ins either. I've walked in about 3 times before I decided I wouldn't get my nails done there. For the area, you would expect a nice posh salon but this place is a piece of junk. You are better off at a normal chain like Hair Cuttery or Bubbles. If you're looking for an amazing blow out, GO SEE CHRIS! She asked how I wanted my hair. I told her bone straight. She gave me bone straight hair. Literally. So soft, used amazing light weight products that left my hair silky and flowy. Thank you Laurie for helping set up the appointment. I am so happy and will be back! I've come to this location 2 times and it's very mediocre. I went to the one in San Diego first and it blew me away (metaphorically).One day I came here and the hot water was broken. It was before my birthday brunch. Like how can you run a blow dry shop and not have hot water? As expected, my shampoo was miserable and icy cold. I was a good sport and acted polite about it. They attempted to bring hot microwaved water to dump on my head in a cup. Which I was appalled by. The actual blow drys are just boring to me, they don't seem to know how to use enough product there. At the end of my miserable cold blow dry I asked for a $5 discount on $40 (plus I gave 20% tip still) to compensate for my really uncomfortable experience, which I should have asked for to be free and the woman who I believe is the manager or owner was at first being cheap that I asked for a Starbucks coffee discount on my uncomfortable and abysmal service. I eventually convinced her that it was a good idea since I'm a returning customer and if she'd like to look like she runs a caring operation she could oblige my $5 request as a sign of good will towards me. Some people just don't understand good customer service, I guess. Side note, the shop is clean and spacious with a new feeling at least. I have put off writing this review because I was so appalled by my experience there, but today we went somewhere else and had such an amazing experience it reminded me that it was time to remind others not to walk away from this salon, but to run! I took my daughter on the occasion of her cousin's Bat Mitzvah hoping that we would both leave with beautiful hair styles. The stylist had no idea what "half-up, half-down" meant. She did a... terrible job with my daughter's hair. I am not very skilled at hair styling, but I could have done a much better job. I do not have words to describe what the stylist did with my hair. It was awful. At one point she had poofed it up so much it looked like I had a small animal on top of my head. I also had my make-up done, a complete waste of money. Needless to say, driving home I called my next door neighbors with an SOS. They arrived, make-up brushes and hair pins in hand, and rescued me. My husband called to discuss the situation with the owner who flat out refused to refund our money but offered additional services instead. She really did not understand that at no point in time would I ever consider setting foot in that place again (and would highly recommend that others avoid it at all costs). The curls that were put in my daughter's hair barely lasted until pictures were taken. The response that they gave was that some people's hair doesn't hold a curl. This place is great! It is my go to spot for a blow out. At most salons I feel like I have to request certain stylists, but I know that whoever I get here it will be great. I even had my makeup and hair done for my bridal shower and they did an amazing job! Highly recommend this place! Read Less

This place is completely unprofessional. I made an appointment for me and my friend and upon arrival they told us we couldn't get our hair done after we already made an appointment. I am appalled that such a "trendy" establishment is unable to accommodate ALL people! My sisters' experience: They clearly were not comfortable with my disability and made me feel unwelcome. The place was so inaccessible. It took three people and 30 minutes to figure out how to maneuver me to the wash bowl so they could wash my hair. After they did my hair, I talked to the manager. She was very short with my concerns. I told her how I felt and this is the first time I felt like this in a salon and it's not the first time I got my hair done. Her response to my concerns was: did anyone hurt me? Did anybody try to move me without my permission? Is this how this establishment treats people will disabilities? This place sucked, I usually have had good service in the past and today was horrible. Not coming back ever. I came here for a black tie gala before going out for the evening. Terrible experience. Last Friday we had an appointment for hair and makeup for my daughter's prom, as we've been here two times previously with success. This time, I left with my daughter in tears and utter distress, make-up she had to re-do herself and hair we could not fix in the time we had. It was a complete failure in several ways: the loose curls she had were too pulled out when she left and were completely flat within an HOUR of us leaving, her make-up was overdone and... poorly applied, and when I returned to discuss our disappointment with the $100 service, I received only a short apology and was told "I could choose someone else next time."
