I got a pedicure and they did an awesome job. The place was clean, they do a variety of services and was well priced. They certainly could benefit from more technicians but the wait was not too long. They were steadily busy and were still able to give me a thorough pedicure. Very happy with the results. I have been coming this place for past 10 years. I have tried another nail salons in Frederick but I always end up coming back here! I walk in all the time and they are attentive when I step in. I've been going to Tiffany, who is now at VIP nails for quite some time. A couple of years, at least, mostly regularly. She is fantastic at nails and everything to do with them. I usually make an appointment due to my very busy schedule. Today, I had an appointment for a mani/pedi, which would just be a fill in and gel polish for my nails and a regular pedicure, at 6:00 p.m.. I had to stop at the bank after work and was happy that I remembered to get cash for my services and the tip. I texted to let her know that I was running a little late and sorry. She called me at 6:08 p.m., and asked how much longer. I told her my ETA was 6:12 p.m., to which she responded: 12 minutes, so do you want to just get one today? I was floored. In all of the time I've gone to Tiffany, I don't know if she has ever taken me on time for an appointment. It's always late and I never complain, even though it is very inconvenient for me with my schedule. I just cancelled and she lost a regular customer. I have recommended her to so many people before and never been anything but nice to her. That was just unbelievably rude and uncalled for. I guess I will be looking for a new nail place. If anyone has a good recommendation, please let me know. I expect the same kindness and respect that I show to others. I am always surprised when anyone treats their clients this way. Especially after years of making them wait more than 12 minutes late for every scheduled appointment. After a few days my polish was discolored.  I went in to get a polish change hoping they would fix the problem free of charge in order to keep me as a valued costumer.  They looked at my nails and said I must have touched a chemical.  I have been getting gel manicures for many years and never experience a nail polish turning brown.  The salon is extremely dirty.  I will not return. I got waxed there. First, the sheet they asked me to lay on was filthy--- it had stains of goodness knows what. When I asked for a clean sheet, she promptly put out white towels. Secondly, she waxed me without gloves. I've gotten waxed from cheap nail salons to luxurious day spas and none of the technicians used their bare hands to wax me. The shop isn't clean at all. Choose this location due to its proximity to my apartment. At first was hesitant since the shopping center they are located isn't very lively. Extremely happy with the service, the price, and how timely my whole visit was. I got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure in a little under an hour. They turned out exactly how I wanted. The people who worked there were incredibly friendly and not pushy about their services like other nail salons. I will definitely be making this my regular nail salon. Read Less

Even before I stepped out of the salon, I couldn't wait to come onto the yelp app and write a review. I called ahead and asked to see if I needed an appointment.  The woman who answered said that it's better to make appointment so I wouldn't have to wait when I got there. I made an appointment and arrived on time. I picked out my color and after about 5 minutes, the woman in the first chair told me to sit down and she would wrap my nails to take off my existing gel manicure. Previously, at other salons, I'd have my nails wrapped for about 15-20 mins. I waited for an hour. All the while, the same lady in the front chair started doing a full acrylic set of nails on a girl next to me and other customers who had come in after me were being served. I was clearly becoming upset by the time I was waiting.  She kept telling me 'almost' and 'it takes a long time for the gel to come off'.  It doesn't take an hour!  Just as I was about to leave, a woman called me to another chair and was completely rude. She eventually asked me 'Did you have an appointment?' I said 'Yes, at 2:30. I've been waiting for an hour' to which she replied 'Oh.'  She did a rushed and terrible job at cleaning up my nails, left a lot of my cuticles and the gel polish was streaky. Once she was just about finished, she saw a woman walk into the waxing room and told me 'I'm going to hell that lady really quick with a wax. She's been waiting a long time.' She quickly walked away and didn't come back for 5 minutes. If I would've said anything to her or anyone else, I would've said something that I would've regretted. I paid and left. Ladies, do yourself a favor and don't go to this terrible nail salon.  It's dingy and unsanitary. Go to OMG Nails and Salon in Urbana (240-699-0308). Stopped in here on a whim after being unhappy with the last shop I went to. I walked in the shop and was unfortunately hit square in the face with the overwhelming odor of cyanoacrylate, and although I know this can be an issue with acrylics, it seemed as if there was zero ventilation in the place. I was greeted immediately, told them I'd like a fill, and was asked to pick a color. They offered gel color (why they do this with acrylics, I'll never understand; acrylics hold polish just fine), but did not push. I was seated right away at someone's station and they began their work. A moment into the service he got a call, and of course I rolled my eyes and thought to myself "oh here we go", since it's commonplace for places like this to carry on a conversation while doing your service. However, he paused, finished his conversation quickly, and returned to me. I had some loose acrylic, and as he went to grab his nippers to pull it up, I asked him not to. After a couple of false starts he understood what I was asking and stopped. The service proceeded quickly and efficiently resulting in some of the thinnest and most shapely nails that I've ever had. He didn't carry on conversations with others in the salon, but he didn't bother to try to have a conversation with me either.They don't let you put tips on credit cards so I wasn't able to tip him but I will definitely be back to see Tommy in the future. Okay so why am I giving this 2 stars? Well, because I went there three times and had different experiences I have got to share.The first two times I was serviced by a lady named Tea (at least that's what it sounded like) and she was quite friendly and did a good job for which she got more than a generous tip.The third time I got another lady (she was younger and didn't say her name). This woman was incredible (not in a good way) - get this - so without words she sits me down in front of her and pulls out her cellphone. She did not get water to emerge my hands into for the manicure... she just pulled out her phone and opened up her ... FARMVILLE!!! She sat in front of a paying client and collected her VEGGIES on a freaking FARMVILLE!!! I was so shocked I had nothing to say. Hence, out of curiosity I decided to wait and see how long it would take her to even acknowledge my presence and start with a manicure. Fifteen minutes later - FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, she finished with her phone app veggie picking and laid the cellphone down, got water and submerged my hands into it. Not even 30 sec. later (without even letting the skin soak and soften) she pulled them out and proceeded with one of the shi***est manicures I have ever gotten. No cuticle cutting (although I specifically asked for it), no apologies for cutting me, and a sour face when I asked to put alcohol on the cut. I mean WTH? Who gave this woman a license and who hired her?? Is she related to the owner or something? Anyway, ho hi, no bye, no sorry, no thank you. She got her $1 tip (for which she should be grateful after such a careless job) and I will never go back to that place, not even to see Ms. Tea that I actually liked and who was nice and did a good job. Btw, I didn't complain or said a bad word to any of them - but guess what, VIP nails are getting a shi*ty review :( So thank you nameless shi*ty manicurist girl, you just lost your establishment a client who actually tips (those who do a good job) very-very well! I went here because the good reviews. I am totally disappointed. My nails chipped the same day - they usually last for 10+ days. Place is not very clean and the waxing room is a little scary - the bed does not have the usual cover they change after each person. However, people working here are nice but unfortunately, they do not do a great job. I need to keep looking for more salons in Frederick :( Read Less

They usually do a great job, but recently the techs all have attitudes and act completely unprofessional. They were clearly talking about me and my grandmother and laughing meanwhile sitting on the phone the entire time. They also didn't really paint "in the lines" when doing my nails because Ngoc had an appointment a half hour after she finished my toes. She just wanted to sit around. I don't take well to laziness. I just moved to Frederick and have tried several nail salons This is the best value overall combined with service. The technicians are friendly and do a great job, especially with Pedicures and shellac manicures. They have a nice color selection and I never really have to wait too long. GoldGirl nailed it. I did make an appointment but walk-ins are welcomed.  There were a half dozen customers on Labor Day and the lady told me it was not very busy. VIP is in a dying strip mall where Shoppers and Blockbuster went out of business.  I hope they and the other "mom and pops" make it.  They have nice, if a little older massage chairs that work well, and for my pedicure, she actually let me sit and soak for a while to relax. Unlike other places where the routine is:  Soak:  minutes, Remove Polish: 1 minute, cuticle remover: 30 seconds...Right foot..Left foot, Right foot.  I even read a magazine.I asked for a double polish combination and she did not blink or say, "that is extra" like some places have.  The young lady did a very good job, especially since I had not been in several months.  Everything was clean and tools came from sealed plastic bags.   I also had my brows(again a neglected area) and lip waxed and everything came to forty dollars, which seemed quite competitive to me.  Nothing fancy, a good to very good result, and reasonably priced.  I will be back. This is the absolute WORST nails salon i've ever been to.  The nail technician that worked on my manicure spent the entire time cussing me out in Vietnamese and calling some of the worst names ever because I accidentally scratched the polish off of one of my nails.  This lady thought that I was Chinese and didn't realize that I am in fact Vietnamese and can understand EVERY SINGLE WORD that came out of her mouth.  She kept calling me a "stupid bitch" over and over for at least 10 minutes for an innocent mistaken, which I apologized for.  Listen lady, mistakes happen.  I'm a customer and i deserve to be treated with respect.  This lady was abusive, obnoxiously rude, and two face.  While she was talking to me, she's all soft spoken and polite, then she turned to her co-workers and started belligerently cuss me out.  I would not even give this place a star if that was an option.  I have been to a lot of nails salons and i have worked at several, and this place has the worst customer service I've ever experienced.  Also, while i was there, alot of the female nail technicians were talking negatively about their American customers, who are completely clueless about what these technicians are saying.  BEWARE, these people are very rude and two-faced. This place is clean and hve plenty of nail technicians available I have been here twice. The first time I got a regular manicure and took a while because it was the weekend. But this time I went for a shellac color and it came out amazing.I am very picky when it comes to french manicure and she did a perfect rounded white line to a perfect pink tint like I asked.
