Frederick needed a reliable brow bar! We had zero options until maven came along! It doesn't matter what type of brows you have, thin, thick, straight, arched, sparse, there is SOMETHING that they will be able to do to take your brow game to the next level! The place itself is sooo adorable! Crisp, chic, feminine, clean, and the women are soooo friendly! Plus they all have perfect brows which is a good sign. They also sell high end beauty products and actually do your brows after they thread them! For all of you who are afraid to try threading, trust me, the noise it makes is the scariest part, but it doesn't hurt at all!! Highly recommend, especially Audra! I went to Maven to treat myself to a girly morning and get my eyebrows. Hopeful with the other positive reviews, I was looking forward to it. I wish I had skipped it now. The experience was great but I came home with scratches from plucks near my eyebrows.The atmosphere  is amazing. It's a cute little place and was very welcoming. I was taken on time and the person who did my eyebrows was friendly and attentive when I asked her to keep them thick. It pinched a little but I thought nothing of it since I was overdue for a threading, and figured it would just subside.It wasn't until I got home that I saw my skin near my left eyebrow was hurt. It was painful and slightly bumpy. Today, which is two days later, its very much visible and I have people asking me how I scratched myself. It was very disappointing, particularly since I expected more since this is a nice place with attention to detail - not some dodgy little kiosk I've never been to. Picture attached. Sad panda. This place is so adorable. I was recommended here by a friend for threading services. I haven't actually had my eyebrows threaded yet so I can't attest to the threading services; however, I did an everyday make-up tutorial with my mom and it was so fun. All of their products are natural and non-toxic so you feel good about putting them on your skin. I've had makeup tutorials in the past at the make-up counters in the mall but this was more personalized and I left with a look that I knew I could duplicate myself at home. I walked in and got my threading taken care of. Audra did an amazing job. My eyebrows went from Olga to Angelina in no time. I'm always fearful when letting someone New take care of my eyebrows the 90's were a terrible time for brows and many adopted the thin Pamela Anderson look. Ladies and gentlemen this does not work for brown girls. You gotta keep them thick and classy and Audra did just that for me.I will definitely be making this my regular go to for all my threading needs. Highly recommend! I was in search of a legit eyebrow threading spot and I was so happy I ran across the great reviews to Maven Beauty Bar. I had been growing out my eyebrows for 2 months now, and I wanted to make sure I went to someone that could sculpt them correctly and not too thin. I was very happy with the results and also appreciated that they took the time to fill my eyebrows in. Their shop is very cute and girly (which I love). Went to get my face threaded today. They prefer that you make an appointment ahead of time.  The owner did a very good job. She was also friendly and made me feel at ease. One of the only places in Frederick who does waxing. This is better than going to the mall and doing it at a kiosk, where everyone can see you getting your mustache, beard, or sideburns removed. Lovely little beauty/accessory shop in the heart of downtown Frederick, also offering eyebrow services.  Stopped in today to see Amber after I'd neglected my eyebrows for years.  In  1/2 hour she cleaned them up and they look so natural.  Amber was also friendly and just really easy to talk to.  I enjoyed my time there and couldn't be happier with the end result.  At under $30 total, it was money very well spent.  I've purchased other little odds/ends in the past and they have the cutest things (e.g decorative hair ties, skincare, casual apparel, etc.).  Great place to grab a gift for a girlfriend or yourself. I'll be back and can't wait to check out some of their other goodies.  The ambience is wonderful - very clean and simple.  It's a small little store but very cozy and not cluttered. I've never had any brow work done professionally as I never liked the idea of waxing. I've heard about threading over the years and decided to search for a local place. I found Maven and saw that it came highly rated (especially services performed by Rebecca herself). All I can say is WOW. I'm sad I waited so long to get my brows done professionally, but I'm glad my first time was with Rebecca at Maven. She was super friendly, explained everything as she went, it was quick and relatively painless. Her store is lovely...clean, bright, and easy to get to. I love shopping at Maven Beauty Bar! They stock so many of the natural, non-toxic, high-performance makeup brands and skincare that I would normally have to order online. Now I can just take a quick trip downtown to get what I need. The owner, Rebecca is awesome and so knowledgable about all of the products. She took the time to answer all of my questions and I ask a lot of questions! She was very patient and I didn't feel any pressure to purchase all the products she was educating me on. I love how MBB has classes to teach you about different beauty products and how to choose/use them. After arriving at my hotel in Frederick, I took a look at the local magazine and saw an article for the Maven Beauty Bar.  Fellow Yelpers gave rave reviews for this place.  Well I had time to kill and decided to go there.  I am very glad I went and had the pleasure of meeting Rebecca and Amye.  At Maven's you can receive make-up lessons, eyebrow threading, total skin care and Aromatherapy custom blending.   Rebecca provided a knowledgeable experience of eyebrow care.  I was able to have my eyebrow threaded and love them.  She also provided a short lesson of how to fill my brows in properly with organic products. Amye is the Master Clinical Aromatherapist that I had the pleasure of sitting with getting a wealth of information on essential oils and how they can help you balance your body.   After having the consult with Amye she was able to put together a custom blend of oils for my personal needs. This place is totally a (not so) hidden gem. I happened to walk by it on the way back to my car one day and I'm so happy I stopped in. The girls are BEYOND friendly (something you don't usually get at these kinds of places) and their prices are really great for the quality of the items they sell.  They have makeup, personalized aromatherapy products, jewelry, clothes, skin care products, and more! I had my brows threaded with Bianca (so sad to hear she's moving) and she was amazing! I'm obsessed!!! Maven is the older more sophisticated sister to Sephora. The beauty and skin products are amazing. The M.Steves products are highly recommended by staff and have worked wonders on my combination acne prone skin. Products are thoughtfully and uniquely picked by the owner who has years of experience in the cosmetic world. They offer eyebrow threading which is my new favorite beauty routine and the jewelry is chic and very exclusive. I cannot say enough about this great little boutique. I'll start by saying I'm not the demographic for Maven Beauty Bar- I am not girly. I don't wear a lot of makeup. Pink is not my thing.Despite that, it's still one of my favorite places downtown because in spite of my non-girly ways, Maven never pushes that stuff on you. You get what you need. They are crazy friendly.One of my favorite features is their brow bar- I mean, how cool is that? So great to have a threading place right downtown. Even a non-girly girl like me needs her eyebrows fixed up, ya know what I mean?They also sell the bkr water bottles which are pretty much the coolest things ever, and make great gifts. They also started carrying these cool temporary tattoo jewelry sheets which are really fun. If you've never been in, go. It's fun and you won't feel pressured into anything.
