I've never had a problem with my manis and pedis - this place is my go-to. Always left super satisfied.But WARNING: don't get your waxing done here!I've had my eyebrows waxed here once before and I was pleased with it, which is why I decided to get it done here again. Huge mistake. Not only did she not trim my eyebrows, but she also didn't even remove all the unwanted hair. She was obviously inexperienced. I was afraid she would make the situation worse by messing them up completely so I just paid and left with my uneven messy eyebrows. I understand it's primarily a nail salon but why then provide such services if they can't be done properly and consistently? I love this nail and spa because it offers consistent superior service. There are at least 10 to 15 nail technicians in the facility and each tech deliver superior service. SNS dip polish where have you been all my life! Blue Ocean Nails and Spa is fantastic. The Ellicott City location and parking are convenient. My favorite nail technician is Mimi. She is super meticulous and I never have to ask her to do anything. The SNS dip polish lasts a good 2 weeks for sure with Mimi’s technique and TLC. I think it depends on who you get here, but my experience here leans a bit more to disappointment rather than being satisfied. Some of the workers are nice, and some seem to hate their job and show it through their actions but that is common in every workplace. Anyways I got someone that didn't speak English very well so we had a hard time communicating with each other. She didn't understand what I wanted. And even cut my nails a bit shorter than I told her to.. another lady had to come fix it but my nails were already ruined and short at that point.. Even when I told her my theme for my baby of shower was yellow and white she did more of a natural pink on my nails. I paid and left the salon being extremely disappointed. I finally got an appointment with Mimi and she was worth the wait. Very professional. She gave good advice regarding my nails, etc. We had good conversation. She is very down to earth. She cleaned up my eyebrows (as she calls it), lol. Good job on that as well. Definitely will always schedule my appointments with her. I made an appointment with one of the manicurists because of her good reviews on yelp. She didn't even greet me and she was ordering me to do things rather than saying it nicely or even smiling. She refused to do nail design unless it was super simple and said she doesn't do designs even though clearly she does which is why I specifically asked for her after seeing her work. So I get mani/pedis every two weeks. After my usual go to place let me down one two many times, I decided to find another place. I located Blue Ocean Nails & Spa by reviewing yelp reviews, of course. Today, I saw Emily for french manicure/pedicure. I paid a little extra to sit in a private room. The decor is sterile and modern which is not necessarily my thing, but it was clean. The pedicure chair is wide and roomy enough for your to put your purse down next to you. The seat also has an outlet to charge your device (Ipad/Laptop) and a pull out desk for you to sit your complimentary beverage. I had hot green tea. The manicure station has hook for your purse, which I wish more places would adopt. The manicure and pedicure came out very well, which is why this place gets a solid 4 from me. The only thing that I did not like and which I am not sure was a quirk of Emily's or a quirk of the Salon is the fact that I was getting a spa pedicure that included mask, massage, location and parafin wax. Well, Emily put the lotion on after she finished putting my polish on. She also attempted to put the parafin wax on me after I had left the chair, after I had my polish on, and while I was sitting out in the general area about to get my manicure. I am still confused about whether or not she forget that my service included parafin wax or if that is something unusual that this salon does. I will definitely go back, but I might try a different tech just to determine if this was a quirk of Emily''s or of this salon. Also, the massage portion on my calves was really quick and I like to relax a bit into it. In any case, like I said, Emily's French manicure, on my toes and hands was on point, so the fact that she forgot to apply or was trying to apply parafin to my feet after the polish was done while I was trying to get a manicure is at worst unusual. What matters is the finished product was very, very good.As a tip, they give you 10% off if you pay with cash. They do not allow you to place tips on your credit card, cash only. Read Less

Unfortunately, I had a really bad post-nail experience. I have gotten gel nails done and one week later they started to peal off.
