If i could leave one star i would, the technician i got was very impersonable and barely did anything for the money paid. Honestly i could have given myself a better manicure and pedicure. Got my nails done gel manicure on a Thursday and by Saturday they were lifting, i just let it slide, well by yesterday (Wednesday) every single nail has lifted. Less than a week and over 70 bucks down the drain, my pedicure she didn’t even look at my feet when scrubbing. Have been going there for a few years now, and have always been treated well by Kevin and his staff.  But I must let him know that he needs to be aware of the fact that I was not welcome yesterday 3/7/18 (12:00).  Place was empty with 2 technicians available.  I came in for my routine 2 week maintenance and your available technician was on her phone with her feet up.  She was asked to take care of me and instead told the front desk receptionist (who is so kind and accommodating)  that she didn't want to do it and have the other technician do it...  Never will I go back.  As a business owner myself, I would be furious if my staff treated a longtime client and resident of the community to be turned away because "she didn't feel like doing it"! I used to LOVE this place. But the last two times have just been *okay*. Polish only seems to last a couple of days before chipping off. When i do it myself it will last weeks. Also the staff doing pedicures doesn't seem to want to be there. And barely said a word to me. And then when we went to pay they wanted me to pay full price for my 13 year old daughter even though they clearly have a different price for children 9-13 years old. They even asked for her id. This salon was awful, I wanted to gift me and my mother a nice christmas gift by getting pedicures. Compared to other places all this place did was wash our feet, and paint our toe nails. They didnt even try to use a foot scrub or get the dead skin off our feet. And for most places that service is included in a “Classic Pedicure”. I spent 50$ on two pedicures just to get my feet washed and painted. Then the lady walked away and never helped escort me to the drying station she just started texting. I've been coming here for a while now, mostly for gel manicures and the occasional pedicure and I have had wonderful experiences every time. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable, and always understand exactly what my vision is for my nails. Very reasonable prices for the area, and a nice clean and relaxing setting. I wouldn't come back!!! I just needed to get a slight pedicure and I didn't enjoy how she did it. I guess I'm use to the finer pedicures in life lol that when I stop in a regular shop for a last resort this is what I get. I will not be coming back here again. This was my first time and I was turned off by the young guy that did my pedicure. What irritated me was that before he painted my toes I wanted to put my flip flops on first so that the polish would not get messed up later. When I asked to put them on he said "I'm not finished yet" and I told him I would rather have them on before he painted them but he wouldn't let me!!! Then at the end he struggled so hard to get my flip flops on so that he wouldn't mess up the polish. He was a complete ass about it. This nail salon is a winner because they have plenty of color choices for SNS nails!  Plus, my nails don't chip between treatments! So. I have only been there 2x.  First time was quite good and the staff was very friendly.  Second time - after getting a gel polish on my toes for a wedding my nail literally just came off whole.  I now have a horrendous fungus to deal with.  I have NEVER in my life had any sort of toe nail problem or infection.  I am just praying at this point it does not get any worse.  I will never ever go there again - tub/water pedicures are an absolute nightmare avoid avoid avoid! Tried Avalon today for the first time. I had to wait about 15 minutes or so before I got a pedicure chair. I sat with my feet in water for about 15 minutes and then I was told I had to move to another chair. Apparently the group of 3 coming in were more important than me? Nobody apologized for the inconvenience or the fact that I had to walk over with dripping toes. My new chair had cold water. I saw people around me being offered water but I wasn't given any.Everyone seems to love this place and the pedicure was decent but took a loooong time. Not a great first impression at all. I have been trying so many different nail salons in the Bowie, MD area.  I decided to try Avalon and from the moment I walked in I knew I found my new spot.  It is clean, the staff are extremely pleasant.  They did not rush me to pick a color.  They were willing to try to replicate a design that I found on Pintrest and was happy to do it.  They introduced me to the the new Cat Eye nail and I love it.  My tech was Jonathan and the young lady that did the design was Katrina.  I had a great time and felt as though I have been going there forever.  I think I found my forever nail shop.  Give them a try, you won't be sorry.Thank you to all of the employees for the spectacular experience.Jenn Read Less

I went to Avalon based on the reviews I read here.  I went for a pedicure with my friend - it was wonderful.  I was always asked if I was ok - if I needed anything - if the water temp was ok.  Conversations were great - I didn't feel like I was being talked around.  A great staff there.  I went back the next day for fill-ins - same pleasant staff.  Tina was wonderful and so nice.  The place is clean - the pedicure area is relaxing - great massage chairs and lighting.  This is now the only place I will go. I walked into this place without an appointment last Saturday for a manicure and pedicure. I walked in based on the yelp reviews. This was my first visit and it will be my last. The male receptionist was very friendly, that was really the only good thing about  this place. The pedicure chairs are old, uncomfortable, broken, and placed too close together. You only get one of the tray out to put your purse or water or book on. The other tray could not be raised because the chairs were too close together.The products they use are inferior. I got a french manicure and french pedicure and the polish on my nails and toes starting chipping the following day.The technician assigned to me cut my toe. Also, she kept loudly talking to the technician sitting next to her and wasn't paying attention to what she was doing. This was on of the worst experiences I have had in a while. Read Less

I have been coming here for almost 8 years now I never have had a problem with any of the staff I am always welcomed with a hello ... Helen is a wonderful nail tech she doesn't even have to ask what I want done because she already knows what it is that needs to be done she gets my nails completely right shape and thickness of the acrylic because I'm very hard on my nails ... at times I let her do whatever design she wants on my nails and goes nuts and I love them I get so man...y compliments on my designs.. and if Helen isn't available or has a long wait I will go to Lee she is just as wonderful... the wait is worth it and they don't overcharge since I live farther away then I used to it have tried other nail salons and I have paid more then I do here at Tina's and my nails didn't last as long as they do when I get them done at Tina's ... i suggest this salon to anyone ... Went in one afternoon to get a gel manicure. Johnny was great!! He paid special attention to my nails and cuticles which were really bad at that time considering I wait about 4 weeks between each gel mani. Once he got to the painting part, he took his time and made sure every spot on each nail was covered. I absolutely love that since most places won't move your finger around to make sure they get the entire nail. I would have gotten a gel pedicure as well but my toes didn't need it then. This is a great place they have great pedicures and they really take their time. I got my spa pedicure and a new acrylic set which took me three hours in the salon. I do wish that I could have had two people working on me at the same time so that I could only spend an hour and a half in there and not three hours. I am very picky with my nails so I had to guide her on the shape. I wish that nail artist would recognize small details like making sure the shape of the nails are the same on each nail and not have one too thin and one thick etc. . I love Helen. She does a great job on my hands and feet. I am a demanding customer with different request for the shape and length of my individual nails. Not only does Helen meet my expectations she does so saying, " no problem, I got you." I appreciate her blunt, honest girl friend next door personality. Will never go again!! This was my 3rd time going to this salon--and the service has gotten worse each time!! Today, Kelly did my deluxe pedicure (which wasn't deluxe at all) with such poor customer service, she was so rude, threw a towel on the floor when I asked her to move it from by my feet so I didn't fall, and she whispered something under her breath... And then rudely told me to "go to the other side" for my manicure with no details as to which table, and she didn't even offer to help me get up, help with my belongings....nothing... And then she disappeared and someone else had to do my manicure...Kelly's attitude, disposition and piss poor quality of work is unacceptable. Do not go to this salon. I went here to get a mani and pedi and was thoroughly impressed with the customer service and the nail tech. She did a great job and got me in and out. I decided to drive about 30 mins since there were so many raving reviews about this place. I went Saturday morning around 10am. It wasn't too crowded. As soon as I entered the doors, the receptionist seemed very disinterested and in a dry tone said "how can i help you?". Well, I told him I wanted a mani and pedi but would like to see my options. That never happened.  I was finally asked to pick a color and I asked for the gel color options. I was finally taken over to the manicure station where the gentlemen started to prepare my nails to remove the gel nails.  He rushed me the entire time on picking a color. I had the color set for 1 min tops. Then I went to pick a color for my pedicure again I was rushed and the place was not packed. Finally, I was taken over to the pedicure station but waited for a while, so long the water got cold. I was never offered anything to drink, I mean nothing but other people were getting nice greetings and drinks offered to them left and right. The lady that worked on me was pretty rough with me and was very stern. Also, during my pedicure I noticed there was hair on the pumice stone. ( GROSS) When it was time to check out I paid almost $80 they did not explain why it was so expensive. So I would not go back unless they have a relationship with you. They did not even try to make any conversation with me at all . NEVER AGAIN.  I would say there was a lady with tattoos and dreadlocks she was very attentive to her customers, if I could get her name I would go back for her because she was on it.My nails are gorgeous but they hurt from the nicks. After going to multiple salons in the area and being either not satisfied or only somewhat satisfied I set out to find a good salon that could do nails! I read all the great reviews I decided to go Avalon too, Andy was very friendly took one look at my nails which had acrylic and gel polish(which were way too thick and un natural looking) and said I am going to take care of you! Your nails will look good! I was immediately put at ease. Andy redid my Acrylic, and gel polish the difference is  night and day! Now they are perfect they look natural, and amazing!!  He also did my basic pedicure and again my feet left the smoothest they have ever been. This is the happiest I think I have ever been with my nails! I have definitely found my salon, and technician. I only wish I would have found them sooner. Read Less

Terrible!!! I had a 6:30 appointment and they said I would be taken right away and when I sat down in the chair, the lady got all the nail polish and was ready to paint my nails, then she disappeared for 30 minutes. Apparently she started to paint someone else's nails and just left me there with no word as to why. Finally I get them done and the next morning, without me doing ANYTHING they chip! After trying many of the salons in the area, this hidden gem is by far the BEST!! I came to try the SNS mani and am so glad that I did!! Kevin always works his magic and I leave with a PERFECT manicure. I have gone up to 4 weeks with no chipping!! SNS lasts much longer than gel and leaves my nails a lot healthier and stronger. I was really impressed by this place. After the last place I used took a horrible turn for the worst, I was really crossing my finger on this one. I was not disappointed. I went in the late afternoon on a Friday. They weren't packed, but every tech had a client. I was set up in a pedi chair and my feet soaked for about five minutes. It was nice, gave me a chance to get settled in and the massage chair going. The decor was very nice, clean and fresh. They used a brand new package of tools on me and offered a drink while I was there. I opted to get the Avalon Signature Pedicure, which is basically the works. I'm a go big or go home type when it comes to my getting pampered days. The Signature included a jelly soak, aromatherapy massage (I chose the milk & honey, which was amazing), a sugar scrub, hot lava massage, paraffin wax, callous removal and hot towels. It was about 75 minutes long and cost $75. So a dollar a minute. A little pricier than other places, but you get way more for your money and the service was great. I loved my attendant, Amy. She was fantastic. I'm not particularly talkative and prefer to relax. She was friendly, but didn't force the awkward small talk.  Every employee I encountered was friendly and personable. Does a great job.I'm allergic to acrylic and they do liquid gel nails... so I can get the fake nail without using acrylic or the asotone.Nice employees. The only thing that irritates me is when I call to make an appointment... I specifically ask for the liquid gel nails... and they book me in. I get there and they sit me down with someone who is going to do the regular gel nails... and not the liquid gel... so I end up having to wait or coming back a different day as only a couple workers know how to do the liquid gel nails.
