The lady who did my nails was doing my nails in a rush. Did not care at all. When she was painting my nails,I noticed it was not fully blended and when I asked her to fix it she just painted over it. After 2hrs and 45 mins for an SNS manicure at Avalon, I left dissatisfied and upset. The nail tech didn't know what she was doing, so I complained to the manager which led to no resolution. The powder dip is visible and my nails look extremely bubbly. Not to mention, I have three fingers that are bleeding from the tech buffing my cuticles so hard. I am a valued customer at this nail salon and always spending $120 minimum with 20% tip. I am so disappointed to have been treated this way. Unfortunately, I will not be returning again. This place is a great spot for a mani/pedi, and definitely the best option in Montgomery mall.  The place is beautiful inside and well cared for, and always smells nice (no chemical smell that is common in other salons at this price point). They offer complementary water and tea, and even wine if you are staying for a longer service, which is a nice touch.  I was shocked by the negative reviews because this is my go-to spot and I've never had a bad experience. I went here during my vacation from work with my cousin who lives in Maryland and it was the worst experience at a nail salon I have ever had. The guy doing my cousins nails globbed the product on her nails so thick it looked as if a 2 year old had done them. The lady doing mine was wondering around from station to station talk to other workers and while my nails weren't as bad as my cousins there was barely any polish on them. The worst part was they knew they did a crappy job and rushed us to pay before we saw the end results. My cousin told the manager about her problem with the job done and he has the guy come back and work on them only making her fingers sore and cutting her. The end result was still ugly nails. $50 for a crappy job isn't worth it! I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. I won't ever go back! Don't go unless you want halfass service. Read Less

I had taken about a 3 month break without getting my nails done but I decided to get back into it and so I went  here for the first time. I told the lady I want coffin shaped nails and  when I saw the shape she was doing, it scared me a bit, obviously I didn't know I didn't like it until the end! The shape was way off, and the nail polish  was thick and clumpy. My nails never break! And here I am 3 days later with already one broken. If I could give half a star I would. I got the dip powder and I asked the lady not to make them thick. She blew me off after I asked multiple times not to make them thick. At the end it looked like she  put a piece of gum was stuck on each nail it was awful! After complaining to the manager another lady tried to fix them. The finish is AWFUL! Half my nail looks matte and the other half is shiny and it looks like I towel dried my nails. Worst job ever total waste of $45 I should have asked for my money back. My overall impression is that they just care about making money. I went in on a Sunday afternoon for a pedicure. The place was pretty empty and the Asian lady did an alright job on my feet, but she was rushing and I couldn't fully relax. They definitely try upselling you on services that you don't need so be careful and don't fall for it. They are pushy pushy pushy, but this could be cultural. They will bring you the bill to your chair and stand over you as you sign the bill to make sure you add the tip (which they seem to take for granted).  I will not be back here since my overall impression is that these folks are too greedy. Dont get the SNS powder dip nails. They looked extremely thick and bubbly, not well done at all. The tech had to redo them at least 3 times. Took over 2 1/2 hours for just a manicure. Also filed so hard that my cuticles were bleeding like crazy. Read Less

I'm really not sure why this place has such bad reviews. Every time I come here, the staff is always friendly and the place is always clean. I mostly do walk ins and every time I walk in, there is always someone available for a pedicure or manicure. I've even showed up with an emergency nail repair 30 mins before close and I was helped right away. The pedicure chairs are super comfy and I love how my feet feel afterwards. Read Less

I have been here more then once hoping the next visit was as "ok" as the first ñ. The thing is I work near by and well it's convenient... however after my last visit I will NOT be going back. I went in for a lunchtime pedi, as soon as I sat in the chair the nail tech tried to sell me another or an upgraded service. The more she kept offering and I nicely declining (I was just there for a regular pedi!) well the nail tech kept getting more irritated. As unpleasant as that was I noticed every service she kept offering only extra $5 or extra $10 should have been part of any regular pedi you would get anywhere. Wouldn't even rate it a one-star! My girlfriend went to this salon thinking she would get what she had in mine. Simple. 1.) The lady rushed her pedicure. 2.) She asked a "tech" about her nail bed and she had no idea. I doubt the have their license to be working as a nail tech. And what upset me the most was what the manager who might be the owner said. So she went in wanting the new trend Marble looking nails. She had brought it to the managers attention that she would think they did designs even one like that. Absolutely TERRIBLE! I have been about four times - each time I really tried to give them "another" chance but just kept getting worse! The nail techs don't know what they are doing, they don't pay attention, and the last and final time I went they made me BLEED, a lot (not even exaggerating); which is such a shame because the design of the space is really pretty. Service was terrible - everyone, ESPECIALLY the manager was rude - and when I complained to him that there were lines in the nail polish - he touched them with a PAPER TOWEL, which just made them worse and kept saying, "he gave me great service" which anyone with EYES could see that it was horrific! WARNING! Please spare yourself the money, time, and energy dealing with this AWFUL establishment. As an Los Angeles native (only visiting the DMV), I chose this place because it was close by and I wanted to try a nail salon in the area. I came in for a fill and pedi. My nails were still in great shape and barely needed a fill. Before I even sat in the chair, my tech already had an attitude. NO SMILE. NO HELLO. NO COURTESY. She then proceeded to refuse to get the hangnail left on my big toe after I asked. Wtf lol. Upon getting my nails painted, I asked for my ring fingers to have sparkly tip at the END OF THE NAIL, similar to a French tip. She grabs the glitter in irritation and paints the WHOLE NAIL with glitter! I asked for it to be changed because that was not what I asked for and I was refused, because "it's already done and looks fine". I came here hopeful after reading mostly negative reviews. It took an hour for a fill (quoted as $40). I had to prompt Dawn to start my nails as she was just sitting across from me and talking with coworkers while I was looking at the color selections. She never smiled and her answers were short. She made me feel like she was annoyed to be working.  She said I needed to replace a nail which I didn't (upsell tactic)-this is when I explained to her that I was in a bit of a hurry. She asked if I wanted to take the length down, I said yes, a little, something equivalent to what had grown out. I started chatting with a neighboring customer and didn't watch her file them down too short. She asked if the shape was ok and I told her I like them with sharper edges and joked about having them as weapons! Not even a smile and she rounded the sides too much.  When it was time to pay, she told me $43, I told her I was quoted $40, she said $3 for cut down....UGH! I said I didn't ask for this, wasn't told about any additional charge and she answered that she took a lot down and it was $3.  I HATE when they add on charges without asking.  I told her to take the length down what had grown out in 2 weeks ( you can identify by looking at cuticles) THIS is not a "cut down" but part of the service.  Sooooooo she charged for taking off more than I wanted. I went to the salon for the first time today. I first noticed that the water in the pedicure tub looked a bit dirty with things floating around, the lady that did my pedicure left my right toe hurting because she cutit down to the skin (I'm in pain now) she didn't do well on my cuticles and both hand and feet. I do believe they are a bit overpriced and its not worth the experience. I can get a gel manicure and pedicure WITH a shoulder rub in Fantasy Nails Langley park!!!! Now let's see how long my gel manicure lasts. I went to this place because it was close to my job and I just wanted to give this place a chance but after my first experience I won't be coming back. Arrived a little late for an appointment with my grandmother. They got started on my grandma and did a great job very attentive. I on the other hand was completely ignored by the staff and it wasn't until I said I was taking my business elsewhere that they acknowledged I was even present. Went here for mothers day. $43 for a "deluxe" pedicure, the result? Dry skin on the bottom of my feet. Disgusting.  I wouldn't mind paying $43 if its an incredible pedicure but this pedicure was more like a polish change with "pampering". And this "pampering" didn't even include  a massage. First time coming.....Omg.. I gave this place a try because it was conveniently near by my job. Absolutely not going to return back here. The only positive thing I could say about this salon was that you can walk in at anytime without an appointment and get a full set of acrylics, which is what I did. The man that did my nails are alright; overall a bit rude. He first glued the nails incorrectly and one got on my skin meshing with the fake nail. It was extremely uncomfortable so I asked him to fix it. Then he replies "when you wash it; it'll be fixed" in a rude manner. This is not my first time getting my nails done so I know how it's suppose to be done. He then asks me if I want long medium or short nails. I asked for short but not too short. I was going to show him where I wanted the nail length to end. He pushes my hand out of the way completely ignoring where I was trying to direct him to. He cut my first nail way too short. I was already upset by that. Then I try to tell him "oh maybe just a little longer than that" in a polite manner. I wasn't being bitchy or anything, very calm. He then replies "BUT YOU SAID SHORT I GIVE YOU SHORT" I'm not trying to argue here but at the same time I'm not going to let someone intimidate me. Especially if it's MY nails. I could tell he was a bit annoyed by me already. So at this point I'm already unsatisfied with my length. What I really don't like is that right when my nails are drying before polish and washing he tells me I need to pay him. Tip and everything. That is a first for me because I'm very use to just paying at the end. That automatically puts pressure on me. I felt like if I didn't tip maybe the best my polish would be messed up. He tells me it's $47 which is absolutely insane! I looked up the website because I came there and it was $32 or around that price for a full set. After I washed my hands and I walk to the front and read the menu that they have. It was $47. So the website is absolutely incorrect and misleading. I was upset. I tipped him pretty well because honestly I didn't want horrible treatment the rest of the process. While I'm getting my nails done him and his daughter talk about customers and tipping. Laughing at people and basically talking bad about those who didn't tip. Of course I got worried. So I payed him and tipped him. My polish was awful. When he was cleaning up the edges of my cuticles he cut me with his sharp nail and I began BLEEDING. At this point I already knew I wasn't coming back. Now it's been about a week and one of my nails is popping off. Hair is getting stuck in between my nail. It looks like it's been two weeks already and time for a fill in. I wish I had looked at the reviews before heading over. My sister had her nails done there before and was happy, I thought that was enough to know.  Unfortunately I will not be as positive about my experience. I gave it one star because of how fast the work disappointed me. Although the service was fast and the atmosphere was relaxing, the quality of work was really bad. I got a full acrylic set and it was $32. I din't mind the price because I was expecting great things. My nails are unevenly layered and chipped. After only a week, that's not okay. Later on the day that I got my nails done, something unusual happened,  my nail beds were hurting/burning for a good 4-5 hours, I'm not sure what that was about.Overall, I was really disappointed with the results and although I didn't plan on it, instead of a regular fill in, next week I'll have to go somewhere else to soak them off and get yet another set. I don't even want to give this place one star. I am beyond frustrated with this place. This isn't my normal salon but because of its walk in availability it's just convenient. I have NEVER had my acrylics break on me. I don't have a very active lifestyle or a job that causes stress to my nails. I went to this salon less than a week ago and THREE of my acrylic nails have snapped. Also the first 2 times I went for my acrylic fill I only paid $30 and the past time I went it went up to $40? I was surprised and when I asked when it went up they said that was always the price. She charged me the $40 for a fill. And I politely let her know that I would not be returning. Funny. I was in the next morning because of my nail breaking. Since then I have had two more breaks. One yesterday and one about 10 minutes ago. I am so frustrated and disappointed with this place and the service. ALSO THE GEL DOESN'T STAY!!! If you can, go to Lovely Hair and Nails over in Wheaton. This place is s rip off! I asked for a pedicure only, and they didn't use any exfoliating scrub on my feet and legs. The typical foot and leg massage? Forget it! That is unless you consider one swipe up and down your leg to be a massage. They also did not lotion my feet and legs and made a weak attempt at buffing my feet with one or two strokes on each foot. The whole experience was quite appalling, actually. They offer a "deluxe" pedicure at a higher price, but those "extra" services are just part of a normal pedicure at any other nail salon. Just another way for them to get you to spend more money for shitty services.This salon knows they're the only game in town (no competition at the posh Montgomery Mall), so they don't have to deliver; they're going to get customers no matter what because of their location.
