This place is clean and fast. But even better is the professionalism that drives their business. I would mention specific people who are fantastic; however, I haven't had anyone who isn't just great. Very poor quality! Very disappointed! I had a mani/ pedi. Acrylic on hands.  Cost me over $100.00. Pedi was so-so but mani was a waste of time! Within a week 4 nails were broken and within 2 all were gone. I felt as if I was in a bakery. No personalized service. Just......" yes..You next???"  Will never go back. It's cash only, downside #1. came in for a pedicure. The guy I had barely scrubbed my feet. A quick one way scrub on the heel and top of toes, nothing on bottom. I said something and all I got was he did it and that it'd be extra. After saying something, He went back and did a quick one way scrub of bottom of foot. We went here for the first time this season, had an appointment and were very disappointed. We have been here before and had been happy. We had sloppy, rushed work this time. It was not relaxing as I felt like, Danny, couldn't finish with me quick enough. For $30, I would have appreciated a little customer service. I will not be back, don't waste your money. In Maine, there aren't a lot of amenities like a walk- in nail salon that can always take you on the spot. So two stars for that right away.Overall, they do a good job. The price point is worth another two stars. Plus, there is a weekly coupon in the local paper they have been offering for like 5 plus years. The music is bad but just go with it. The massage chairs are pleasant. This is an establishment of hard working people offering a basic service at a reasonable price with a pleasant attitude. Give it a try. Read Less

Very hygienic and all are professionals. My nails (gel manicure and pedicure ) done by Lea are always done wonderfully. No worries about the check or cash only policy as they have an ATM machine in the salon. Great friendly people not the mention the very reasonable pricing. Read Less

The worst experience I have ever had. Left with 2 bloody cuts on my feet that bled right into my new nail polish that is streaky and disastrous. Waste of time. Asked multiple people to fix my disastrous pedicure and gel manicure so I could at least leave satisfied but no help at all. Will not return. Read Less

A York gold-mine. We came up to our cottage for the weekend, and I had gel nails on from a wedding 3 weeks prior- at that point, pretty much an emergency that I get them OFF! I came to Best on a Saturday around 11, fully expecting to wait. I was greeted and sat instantly! The place is HUGE, with two wings on the side filled with pedicure chairs, and plenty of manicure stations and drying stations as well. Gel removal was $5, and since I didn't have to wait, I decided to pick some polish and get a manicure too- another $15. All in all, it was incredibly cheap, fast service, and big enough to accommodate the weekend influx of vacationers looking to get beach-ready nails and toes. Read Less

Male nail tech spoke very limited English, found that frustrating.  Requested gel nails, natural, no color.  Tech did not file my nails evenly, left residue? in two nails and a speck? under the gel on one nail. told him five? times, nails were filed unevenly and showed him the three specked area's.  I shared my discontent with the boss,  had a female tech try to repair the challenges, she made marginal improvements.  I chose to cut my losses and leave vowing not to return! Color was wrong, I wanted clear, Tech applied light pink, could not see the "color" until I finished all the gel coats.... I have read all the reviews.  Last year I needed a salon that could take 4 or 5 people at a time. We were very happy with the results for all of us.   John did my nails and he was very friendly and did everything I asked.  I have been back many times and have never been disappointed. There are many salons closer to me but I like consistency rather than a surprise. I am waiting for them to open today so I can make an appointment for the weekend.  I went to a nautical baby shower a couple of weeks ago.  I showed John a picture from pintress and he copied it perfectly. Just my toes had a design. They may not be the BEST but they are priced right and very friendly but most of all, I have HAPPY with their work. I have been a client of Best Nails for at least 5 years and the place is always clean and the practitioners open sterile packets of tools right in front of you. I usually go to Vicki and her husband John for services. They are the best practitioners there and both give a good massage. I love the "hot stone"pedicure" . Awful. Absolutely awful. I've gone time and time again, as it is the only nail salon close by, and I have never once received satisfying results. Whenever I go, they cut my cuticles too short that they bleed. Instead of apologizing, or cleaning, they smile and cover it with their hand so I won't see.. obviously I'm going to notice when my finger is bleeding all over the table! Also, they use nail polish thinners so your manicure will last just a few days before it chips, resulting in what they think will create more business. They're a scam, and a rip-off because they're pricier than other places. Also, their hours are wrong on their website. This place is very unprofessional. I recommend avoiding this place at all costs- more worth it to go to Portsmouth to find somewhere that actually has their stuff together. Read Less

Very exceptional compared to other nail salons in the area who tend to rush through my appointment. I also get my eye brows done here and i'm always complimented on them! As I sat at the drying station I looked up Yelp reviews to see if anyone else had had the same miserable experience as me. I wish I would have read the reviews before I went.My technician removed my old nail polish by scraping it off with a cuticle pusher. If you live in a cave and have never had a mani/pedi before let me tell you, that's not how it supposed to be done. The rest of the civilized world uses this thing we call Nail Polish Remover. It costs all of a dollar at your local drug store, so why this woman chose to scrape it off is beyond me. You're probably wondering why I didn't ask her to stop or to use polish remover. Well, I tried, but she didn't speak a word of English. I mimed using the polish remover on my toes and pointed to the bottle...and she proceeded to get me a tissue...for my nose.The rest of the pedicure was mediocre at best. The language barrier didn't help and the polish went on goopy.I started checking out Yelp reviews at the drying station when I was brought the check. $30. $30 for a very basic and very crappy pedicure. Best Nails in York, ME is absolutely BEST!  Been going for mani/pedi/fills since they opened. They are careful, caring, skilled and super-sanitary.  The salon is immaculate and Tony, the owner, is always warm and welcoming with regular customers or strangers.  Each of his large staff takes their time and knows what they're doing.  There is little or no waiting.  The super-modern massage pedicure chairs are as wonderful as are the foot massages given by the expert technicians.  While they are a busy place, especially during tourist season, I have never been rushed or put aside for others.  I don't have time for a lot of self-indulgence so Best Nails is like a mini-spa for me.  Best Nails, with its Route 1 location, easy parking and non-hassle scheduling, is a refreshing change from the challenges of Portsmouth salons. I really WANT to like this place. It's a few miles from my house and the cleanest/nicest nail salon I've ever been in. But, that's not enough. I've been here multiple times when I don't want to get on the highway and drive to NH for a mani or Pedi and unfortunately I'm never impressed.  First, they don't really do a great job. When they paint my nails they always get polish on the sides of my fingers. When I had acrylic nails they were always too thick even when I asked to have them thinned out.  My pedicures are rushed most of the time. If they aren't busy you might get a 30 minute Pedi but if they are busy, don't expect to have it over 15 minutes. The woman sitting next to me at my last visit wasn't in the chair over 10 minutes for her entire pedicure, including soak time because there was a wait.Second, they never have enough people working. I don't understand the point of having 15 pedicure chairs and 14 nail stations if they only staff 7 people on a busy Saturday afternoon! Makes no sense.I had made an appointment for after work one day for a Mani/Pedi, as I was flying to the Caribbean for vacation the next day. They called me an hour before my appointment time to tell me they'd be closing early because it was snowing and they wouldn't have any other customers  Really??  So I don't count? Cool.The biggest kicker is at my last appointment, the day of my bridal shower, I made an APPOINTMENT for 11am for a pedicure. I arrived promptly at 11 and proceeded to wait for 45 minutes for them to take me! I even told them after 20 minutes that I was on a schedule and had somewhere important to be. I mean, I wasn't dropping by to get my toes pretty and go grocery shopping! I was going to MY bridal shower, a once in a lifetime event that my bridesmaids had put a ton of time and money into. I had built a small buffer into my day, but not one that was 45 minutes. It was just plain ridiculous. I wasted time sitting there when I could have been doing my hair or makeup or anything else! I was rushed the rest of the day and was late to my own shower. I didn't get an apology, a discount, nothing.
