Second time visiting this salon at the recommendation of a good friend. First time was pretty awesome. I had Mon and, though he was a bit too familiar for a working environment (hitting on female clients, etc.) he did a great job on my nails and was pretty friendly. I live in Boston, so it took extra effort to visit this establishment while in town for the holidays. The second time around was somewhat of a nightmare, however. I set a 9am appointment with the same guy, Mon. At 9:10, a young woman sat down to start my service. She was kind, but not the provider I asked for. When I asked if she would be doing my nails, she left and told Mon, "She wants you to do it." Already picking up that familiar, semi-unprofessional vibe again. So he strolls over and starts prepping a soak bowl. I ask if I need to soak them off if I'm having a refill of the dipping powder - I've only had the powder once and was unclear about what a refill process entailed - he tells me "Yes, it costs the same whether we soak it off or drill it down... I have to soak it some because I have to put three layers on... But it costs the same." I was still somewhat unclear what all this meant, but why the focus on the cost? I didn't say anything about prices. I just wanted to understand what the process would entail. He sits the very small bowl down and says, "Soak" and walks away. I place one hand in the bowl - because it looks like a bowl for one hand - and continue looking at my phone until my friend, the one who referred me, walks in. She then says, "hey why aren't you soaking your other hand?" Oh! I'm supposed to soak them both in this single bowl? Had no idea. So I start soaking the second one. Mon comes back and I ask, was I supposed to soak them both in this one bowl at the same time? "Yes, that's common sense." Wow! He goes on to say how I "woke up on the wrong side of the bed," how I "didn't soak both hands because I didn't want to" and how I'm "coming in early this morning starting stuff with him" and on and on. He literally went on and on... Even after the interaction was over, he continued mumbling. Totally and utterly unprofessional. Then 60 seconds later he asks someone else to take over. The new technician seemed to be a manager and proceeded to provide the service. She did a decent job, not nearly as skilled as the first guy, though. I still had dried powder clumps under my nails and matted nail powder on my skin. My tech skipped the washing step entirely and I realized shortly after the service that I had not received any hand care at all - no cuticle care, no nail cleaning, nothing. Check out the photos. Turns out at the end, they charge me $5 more than the standard service for "soaking." When I grab the price list to verify, the service I received isn't even on the list. At this point, I'm pretty disgusted. The manager comes by to explain their pricing... When what she should have done was take the extra off considering the horrible service and rudeness of her staff member. Needless to say I will not be returning here or recommending anyone patron this establishment. Do better in training your staff how to talk to women and understand that you have a responsibility to provide great service every time and honor your commitments and promises to your customer regarding prices. Two stars only because my nails looked pretty decent at the end of the visit. Read Less
