Glynn is the best hair stylist I've ever had!! She's a master at color and is able to translate the idea of what you want into reality. She isn't afraid to try something new if you ask, and you can trust her to know exactly the right color and length/style that will look amazing on you. The salon is wonderful and welcoming as well. If you have naturally thick eyebrows do not go here. I went today for a simple clean up and really wished I hadn’t. I now have two totally different shaped eyebrows! My right one is perfect the left one is beyond screwed 😩, it looks like she tried to arch it so it’s a weird shape/thin/kinda looks like a sperm and I’m missing the entire front part... I’m very upset as I have a ton of events coming up and will probably have to get bangs cut just to cover it. I’ve had this problem at nail shops, which is why I stopped going to them. I got my hair cut this past Thursday by Lainey...and let me tell you...best hair cut I have ever gotten. This chick knows what she is doing. My hair went from a hot mess to stylish. I now wear my hair down with comfort and confidence and have received buku compliments. Stylist ignored my one request and cut my hair entirely too short. She never showed me the back before I left, so I didn't realize it'll be too short for me to put into a braid(my one request). Wow, Kiely is the most sour faced and unhelpful stylist I've ever had in my life. Acted like cutting my hair was the last thing she wanted to do in the world and seemed to get angry (??) when I'd try to clarify what I wanted. I have never written a Yelp review, but have elected to do so because of my amazing experience with Anna!  One of my BFFs and I decided to get our hair done together while visiting NOLA.  We had a great feeling from the start when we observed that literally all of the stylists have amazing, cool-girl hair; it was exactly the vibe we wanted.  Anna took me up from a balayaged dark brown to a light strawberry blonde with "perfect-imperfect" roots...I absolutely love it and am having so much fun with it (refer to profile pic).  Not only are the stylists super friendly, they are honest yet reassuring when it comes to what your hair can realistically do.  This is the most I've ever spent on a hair service, but it was worth it because of the risk (i.e., the amount of bleach) involved.  The salon is also adorable and I would live there.  Can't recommend Anna highly enough. I currently only get my nails and my waxing done at the salon but I've broken up with my previous salon in favor of their nail artist, Paris. After seven years of going to Harahan specifically to see the same person at Essential nail and salon, I had to stop. All the services at rocket science are by appointment only. So that means that I can book my Friday appointment at my convenience and not have to worry about fighting with walk in customers in order to keep my appointment. Paris is one of the number one nail artists in New Orleans and not only is she very fast but she's also extremely efficient and very talented. She has a large variety of top-of-the-line popular items for nail design and is always willing to do something fancy and cool. I wish I remembered the name of the girl that did my eyebrow waxing. Paris scheduled the appointment for me at the same time as my regular nail appointment and I could not be happier with the care and attention that my eyebrows received. I was very selective about the salon I chose and my love of Davines and the awesome atmosphere along with reviews of this salon led me here. Anna was my stylist. She was awesome! I haven't dyed my hair since i was 13 when I found out brunettes can't just go blond without bleach and turned my hair a not so lovely orange color, so naturally I never dyed my hair again. This past month I was feeling a bit rebellious and decided I would try one more time, except go for the trendy "rosegold" color eveyones into lately.  My hair stylist was Anna and she was a badass, super interesting to talk to, made sure I was comfortable with the color before hand and made the overall experience fun and stress free. I really was excited to get my hair cut at this New Orleans salon that everyone rants and raves about. I went to a new stylist that just moved here. I don't want to trash her she was very nice I just have a few issues. My cut is nothing like the four photos I brought in My cut is uneven AFMy cut doesn't suit my thick hair or hair's texture My hair is so flipping short I can't do anything to it much less trust another person with a scissor I have never hated a cut this whole heartedly in my entire life. I went in for a consultation after having gone through almost four weeks with a yellow tint to my recently lightened hair.  I hated it!   Rachel met with me and evaluated what needed to be done.  I went in the next day for my appointment and she did a wonderful job, left the salon with almost all of the yellow gone!  I will be going back to Rachel for sure.  Very happy with her professionalism and knowledge about hair and she is a very friendly and interesting person. Love the the salon and the atmosphere. I drank a beer while I explained the style and color I was going for with Brittni. She is honestly the only person I trust with my hair. I showed her a picture and gave her some points and she explained what she was going to do and what would look appropriate for my face and hair type. I have had a few different cuts and styles from Brittni and she always makes me look fabulous and fee great. If you have thick hair or thin hair, long hair or short hair, she can design or help create a cut and style for you. Next time I come I would also love to get a manicure for my lady. New to New Orleans, and was looking for a reliable place to get my acrylic nails filled. After digging through Yelp reviews at other salons, I decided to make an appointment with Paris - and was not disappointed!!!Make sure to make a reservation because she is the only person who does nails (acrylic or not) at the salon, but she was awesome!Paris was very friendly and welcoming, and professional at the same time. She was quick, and did a fantastic job. If you have acrylic nails, you know it can be hard to find someone who does a good job shaping and filling the nails, especially at the cuticle. Additionally, I also get gel on top of the acrylic, which again, Paris was very clean and professional about. I really couldn't find anything wrong with the way she did my nails - and I'm very picky.I only got them done yesterday, but the nail beds look like they're going to grow out very nicely, which is one of the most satisfying parts of finding Paris!Additionally, she has a large collection of regular and gel nail polishes, and she is always adding.Last but not least, you can't beat the price! $30 for a fill and gel, which, in my book, is a steal. I have had Brittni cut my hair twice and we did color this past visit, and I absolutely adore both my cut and color.  She asks a lot of questions, I felt like she really understood what I wanted based on the photos I showed her.  I told her I was going for big 70s bangs and feathering, and she nailed it!  The color is very natural.  Also, I have taken them up on it yet, but they offer wine and beer! Never getting my nails done by anyone but Paris ever again. She gave me the most fabulous fresh set of claws I've ever gotten, and with very little direction. I told her I was thinking coffin nails, black and gold. She asked me if I liked glitter, and then just went ahead and read my mind and whipped up an incredible custom set for me. She's FAST, too. Took her maybe 20 minutes, half an hour from start to finish. And she's hilarious to talk to. I've gotten so many compliments I've run out of her cards. Go see her. Read Less

Let me first start off in saying what a great experience I had here. The environment was comforting and fun, all the stylists were down to earth, and I definitely left at the end of the day with a smile on my face. I'm in the process of growing out my pixie cut, and getting my mullet tamed was the main reason in booking this appointment. My hair is at an awkward length bellow my ears and above my chin, and since I'm growing it out, my hair stylist, Andrea, ensured me a cut that was pleasant to grow out and yet still complimenting to my face. She also did something I thought I would never be able to pull off in 100 years. We dyed my hair purple, and trust me, words cannot express just how much I adore my new color. She kept my roots brown to make it easier to manage as I grown out my hair, and I'm just in love with the finished product. It took roughly 2 &1/2 hours for my whole cut and color, but time just flew by with there being so many friendly faces to talk to. Saturday I did something that I haven't done since I was in 3rd grade.........I got bangs!Okay so for most this isn't a big deal, but I've been scared of bangs since I was in middle school. After conferring with friends and armed with example photos, I decided to make the jump. I went with a friends recommendation (and a few yelp reviews) and booked an appointment (online!). My guide and caring hand holder was Kelsey and she was wonderful! From the moment I told her what I wanted, she made sure I was comfortable with the decision and also ensured that I was confident in it. We assessed and reassessed.... it was wonderful. She also provided a nice balance of friendly but not aggressively chatty.A few other items of note: 1. I had to reschedule my original appointment due to flight delays - and they were so sweet about it on the phone. 2. Taylor, who was working the front desk, handled my blow dry and had so much patience with my fine but thick hair that she was a saint. She was so personable and sweet. 3. Bang trims - on the house! So much peace of mind for this basically born-again bang virgin. 4. The vibe of the business is wonderful. They work as a team and you can feel it. 5. SERIOUSLY!! I went in for the easiest haircut EVER!! All i needed was a trim and I dont have any layers. Everything was fine until we got to my bangs and I said ""just dust and texturize them I dont want them any shorter"" well now my bang are straight up BUTCHERED! I had this great tapper on each side leading into the longer bangs and the girl chopped off one side and left the other not to mention they are so short that now I have to wear a hat for a week till they grow back out! I expressed to Savannah, in as direct language as possible, NO RAZOR. I hate when stylists razor my hair. My hair is fine and I prefer a chunky, textured look that razoring can't achieve. She was talking with another customer almost the whole time, and then took the scissors and started razoring my hair. I asked for some long layers put in to add shape. What I got was the Rachel with bangs. My hair is past my shoulders and one of the layers she put in comes right to my ear. It looks horrible. I was especially disappointed because she didn't seem to listen to what I wanted. In fact she did the one thing I asked her not to do. And instead of feeling like I was paying around 50 bucks for an appointment with a stylist, I felt like I was at someone else's appointment. She took several calls, cut someone's bangs, and chatted with other customers for most of my appointment. I won't be back. It's funny that the place is called Rocket Science. If I could add five more stars, I would! Rocket Science has the atmosphere, the education, great vibe, and excellent customer service as being the best salon in New Orleans. I just moved here from San Francisco for the film industry, and have always been fortunate enough to have only the best stylists. I also need to add, my best friend has been a salon owner and educator for one of the top salons in the San Francisco Bay Area. So for a number of years I have also been a model helping out my friend teach her classes. While sitting there over and over again, I have learned a lot about hair, texture, color, wave, face shape, and how to hold the shears properly. Needless to say, my standards were set very high when I came out here, and had to find the perfect place. I used to have blonde hair down to the middle of my back, but finally cut it all off and went back to my natural color, dark. I had gone to three other salons and I always came out either looking like a man, or Florence Henderson, not good! I was drawn to Rocket Science because of the great reviews and cool name. I went to Dara and she nailed my haircut and color! She wasn't afraid to cut into my hair to create the mis-managed effect I had been looking for, perfect!!! I even wanted it shorter a few days later, and she had no problem with my request. Dara has by far surpassed any expectations I had as a stylists and her training and experience shows in her work. The trust was build up enough for me to have her do my eyebrows too, perfect once again. I can honestly say, the girls at Rocket Science are excellent at their craft! I have been Savannah's client for 8 years, and I have had exceptional hair EVERY time I've walked out of her salon. After several bad stylists in the past, I was afraid to try anything new with my hair, until I met Savannah. I went in for highlights, but ended up with a bleach blond head, not even white blond, but slightly orange. I was horrified but couldn't manage to say anything about it. I called back a few days later, and the woman (Savannah?) that answered the phone was very hostile to me and treated me like I was trying to get something for free. I just wanted to tell them that I was unhappy and wanted to come back in for some color to be added. ( I was ready to pay for the next visit, but she didn't let me get that out.) Even if my hair was over lightened, it should not have been orange. I am definitely never going back, due to rude and poor quality service. ( The girl who did my hair, Dara, was very sweet, but I don't think understood what I wanted, which may have been my fault. ) But, it is expected in costumer service, that when you are not happy with a service, you call back immediately and things can be fixed, not wait a three weeks then complain. Instead, the woman was very rude and almost accusatory. So now I am paying a new salon again to fix my hair, then dye it again, which is a big hassle.
