My first visit was happenstance. Great timing - I walked in and asked about the services they provide to which the receptionist clearly and patiently described my options. We decided to try walking in on a Saturday afternoon, for pedicures, and we got right in! Clean facilities, good color choices, and great massage chairs in the pedicure area. DO NOT GO HERE!!! If I could give negative stars, I most definitely would! I knew from the moment I sat down for a toe nail polish that Pinky Nail Salon was not a good business. The staff was being rude to another customer, but I shrugged it off and "minded my business". While getting my nails serviced (a refill that they did after I requested nail polish only), the tech continuously cut my finger with the tools. After she was done applying acrylic and shaping, she went to buff my nails, and the nails on one hand were almond shaped while the other hand was oval. I pointed this out, even though it was obvious, and she fixed it before moving to polish. Under a week later my nails started to break and polish began chipping. I can usually go three weeks without gel polish chipping (before I go in for a refill anyway, so unsure how long it would last otherwise). Fast forward to the day I decided to fully remove a broken nail, and found discoloration underneath the polish! Took the polish and acrylic from all my nails and found yellow/green/brownish discoloration, which is a sign of a bacterial infection caused by a little cootie called "psuedomonas aeruginosa. In all my years of getting nail care from nail salons, I have never experienced anything like this. Again, DO NOT GO HERE!!! I went out of convenience (it's close to my job), and man do I regret it. The quality of service has changed since the new staff. Poor quality of work. I was cut and experienced bleeding around my nail cuticles. My pedicure was just a rub down and polish. The work was not very thorough on both my hands and feet. My gel polish on my nails began to peel after 4 days. The layering of gel was very thick and my nails look bulky and wide. They are also very meticulous to detail, so if you're looking to rush in for a quick service, this is not your place. I personally like that kind of service, so I plan accordingly. I went there for a mani/pedi, and it was sensational! I forgot to take a picture but I wanted to write this review in response to another review. First visit I got my eyebrows waxed. Not in the "Diva Seat". I wasn't in love with them because I asked for natural clean up and I got then arched and noticeably unequal in length eyebrows. However on today's visit I watched several people get out the diva seat satisfied with nice looking brows. My second visit was for a pedi/gel. The man who greeted me gave directions more than actually greet. I think he the man who's referred to as the rude manager in other reviews. His manners aren't great. A customer called my technician answered she then communicated to him that a customer had been charged for eyebrow waxing but left forgetting to actually get the wax. He remarked "how can that even happen."  I wasn't there when she returned but I could easily see him giving her a problem. I sat in the massage chair for quiet sometime before some one got to doing anything but I didn't mind because the chair was nice and I wasn't in a rush. My technician was Tracey, I know because the rude guy kept asking her to do stuff like she didn't have a customer. But she was amazing. She handled all his request and still managed to be attentive to me as a customer. There was no pain when she cleaned up my cuticles and she put extra coats on my gel because she knew her product. The price was decent. I got a manj/pedi for $39. I thought the nail tech Tracy did a very good job cleaning my cuticles as she took her time to make sure she got every nook and cranny. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Vickey. She sped through the manicure as if she needed to use the restroom. She was going so fast she cut too much of my cuticle and caused my cuticle to bleed. David, is the owner of the salon. My recommendation to him would be to tell Vickey to slow down. Anyone who wants a superb pedicure should try Q nails on the West Bank. The staff there is extremely friendly. They take their time and make sure they complete your service to perfection. i hate to be the person that tries a new place and immediately gives it a bad review, but....my friend loves this place so i went with her today for a manicure. i was on the fence about getting one vs. sitting with her while she got her acrylics done. her experience was great--if you are going for acrylics, i mean, go go go. i got a gel manicure, and it's just meh.it doesn't look bad, but i am not pleased with two things. one, when i asked about price when i came in, i was told it was $14. my friend with me heard the same. when it came time to pay, it was $28. at that point i asked if it was 14 per hand and was told a manicure is 14 and then 14 for the gel polish. okay, but that is not how it was presented to me when i came in, so i was annoyed.also, for $28, it's not a good enough manicure. my cuticles are pretty much gone, and the woman who did my nails seemed like she wanted to speed through it. they look good, so there's that. but i won't be coming back. my business will be going back to buff. I will never go back to this nail salon, the owner was abrasive and disrespectful to me when I came back with a messed up manicure.I had been there earlier in the day to get my nails done, and whether the polish was old or too thick, it was legitimately 3.5 hours later and my nails were still soft and I had messed a few of them up. It wasn't a big deal, I was just going to go back and ask for a polish change and I would've been fine paying again because I was going to choose a different color. The owner told me to pick a color and to sit down and that it would be 10-15 minutes. I waited about 15 minutes until someone came and got me and was about to start my nails, but then all of a sudden the owner told him no and to go and give someone else a pedicure. I waited another 10 minutes and then asked the owner when my nails would be done and he told me I had to "wait my turn." When I realized that the wait was definitely not about to be the "10-15" he originally told me, I politely asked if someone could just remove my nail polish for me. He told me no, that everyone was busy, and I would have to wait for someone to finish to come over and take my nail polish off. Okay, fine.. I asked if I could just have a cotton ball with alcohol and I would remove it myself. Again, he was so rude and just tells me no he's busy "can't you see I'm with a customer?" Literally anything I said to him he would say "you have to wait your turn, I'm busy." This guy was so unnecessarily rude to me--I came in willing to pay for a polish change, realized the wait was too long and I had prior commitments I needed to leave for, and all I wanted was for my nail polish to be taken off and I would have came back in the next day when I had more time. I ended up asking the woman who did my nails for me for the cotton swab and she was nice enough to pause her pedicure and take it off for me. She asked if I wanted to come in the next day for color but I told her no, there's no way I would come back to a place with an owner who was that rude to one of his customers, which is pretty unfortunate because this was my second time there and I really liked the lady who did my nails both times.Really poor and inappropriate business management and the owner created such a scene so I hope the other people in there getting their nails done saw how rude he is. This is the best place ever!!!! I've been to several nail salons and spas. I've had both good and bad experiences at those places. This place is on another level when it comes to customer service, cleanliness, and attention to detail. The prices are affordable. The technicians are friendly and respectful. Flower did my nails....I have never been so pleased with my nails...Ever. I consulted with her and she was able to give me exactly what I wanted, and far exceeded my expectations. She was so creative, artistic, kind, genuine and warm. I got 3d nail art, and I was amazed. Another technician did my pedicure, and I thoroughly enjoined his attention to detail. A plus salon!!! You know, despite the other reviews, I really like this place. The mani/pedicurists are efficient and have a lot of personality. I always get good paint jobs and clean, smooth cuts. Even when it seems busy, I don't wait an unreasonable amount of time, and once when I was in a panicky rush (I totally botched my own nails on the way to a wedding) they got me fixed up QUICK. It also cleans too me -- they spray things off and use fresh supplies for everything.  But I really come back because its not pretentious... The mani/pedicurists are funny, real, and skilled. One of the things I look for in a nail salon is of course their work and the location of the nail salon. Pinky Nail Salon gets 3 stars in both of these areas. This salon is located not too far from my apartment, right next to Walmart, and next to AnyTime Fitness where I work out. I was able to get an hour workout in and then walk right next door and get a nail fill and a pedicure. The woman who did my nails was very friendly, spoke great English, and did an excellent job on my nails. They were exactly how I like them. The woman who did my toes was extremely friendly. She talked to me all about being in New Orleans and even gave me some great places on the West Bank to get Pho Tai. My toes turned out beautifully. I was in the salon for a total of one hour for a fill and a pedicure! Not too shabby!  The atmosphere was great! The salon is nice. Absolute worst manicure I ever received. Nails were not properly shaped, she didn't cut the cuticles correctly -- actually cut one finger too far and drew blood -- and put the polish on too thick so that it didn't dry properly. This is the best nail shop in the New Orleans area. They are polite and they move fast but still get the job done. My friends and I ended up here after the other nail salon we wanted to go to was seemingly on the other end of town (but was actually just down the street--Yelp map, you let us down).  It was the day before my wedding and my good friends and I needed a nail fix--especially me.I had a pretty neutral experience here.  It got the job done, and it was cheap.  We didn't have to wait as walk-ins, likely because it was 2pm on a weekday.  The premises seem pretty new and clean and my nail tech did a good job (no nipped cuticles).  At $16 the price was right for my manicure, though I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come here again.The name is clever, anyway. I dunno, I like the place.They've put on a full set of acrylics and then two fills since. Each time has been a decent experience. The gals are skilled with the dremmel, never gauging into my cuticles, or the like. They've kept the acrylics thin enough tht they don't look crazy fake and thick enough they haven't popped off between fills. My friend and I stopped at Pinky's yesterday for mani/pedis. They seated us in the pedicure chairs right away - and then left us sitting there for an hour. At least our feet were nice and soft by the time they got started! Overall, we were in the salon for three hours. I was a bit annoyed (if they didn't have enough technicians, they should have asked us to come back later), but I was willing to let it slide - until I looked at my nails this morning and realized that three of my nails are already chipping! I've been here twice.  Both of my experiences were great!!  But I watched a friend's pedicure that looked pretty rough...The place itself is very nice and feels big and clean.  My first shellac manicure was long and enjoyable.  It was perfectly done and last longer and was stronger than any of my previous shellacs.The second time I went, there started to be a long line, but they seemed to still be taking their time (a good thing!).  My pedicure was awesome!  Very long, she made sure I was comfortable, and it lasted Forever.  My friend's next to me, however, was by a younger girl with her cleavage falling out, and even I was in shock at how rough she was being.  I know my friend get regular pedicures and her feet are in good, soft shape... but the girl was just digging and cutting away at her cuticles without even looking at them (literally, she looked away at a wall and kept digging/cutting).  I almost ordered her to be more careful myself.I also got a manicure and eyebrow wax, both very well done and enjoyable.  My girl that was GREAT was named something like Veronica / Savannah / a longer name with a V in it.... Although one of my bestest buddies recommended this place, saying it was over the top fabulous, my experience was best described as "meh".  Three of us went in and decided to celebrate the recent passing of our dear friend, Mardi (R.I.P. 2/22/12) and pay tribute by getting glittered fingers and toes.  We mounted the massage chairs and waited. And we waited and waited.  One of my friends was already been taken to the nail painting station when my pedicure was just beginning.  This wouldn't be a big deal if the place was crowded, but it wasn't.  The end result was a hurried mani/pedi by a girl who just seemed to hate her job.  My nails came out fairly well, gold and glittery like I wanted, but my cuticles were cut too close and were sore, tender, and bleeding the next day.  Also, my nails were chipped within 24 hours.  I think my $45 (w/ tip) could have been much better spent.Next time, I'm going back to Fashion Nails!
