It's funny how they edit posts that are un -flattering to this business.I'm still growing out my once long hair after having some twit cut it soshort , and then the manager told me she would make sure that someonewith more experience could make it better....the * stylist * f-ed up.I walked in there knowing what I wanted done. Didn't want another of these a-holes , went somewhere better. MOST , not all , of the staff are super-cut people , as in , they should work at the local Walmart salon.Avoid this place , it isn't good anymore , it's a scam.And the funny thing , people send 15 year old girls to the crap hole to get $300 hairstyles......!!! I recently moved back here to New Orleans to care for my mom. I was looking for a salon and Kenneth's was close to my home. They took me right away and said Dawn would be my stylist. TOO EXPENSIVE Please don't waste your money. I had my hair highlighted, roots dye and a blow dry for $217.00 REALLY! 120.00 for the highlighting 67.00 to color my roots 30.00 to blow dry with a brush I am not complaining about the hairdresser, she was very nice and professional (Dawn). It was my fault for not asking the price, but I believe I should have been told upfront either when I scheduled the appointment or came in to make sure I was well informed. dawn literally saved my day. I had a mishap at aveda (again) and I needed something done THAT DAY. Called the salon at 8:30am, got an appointment at 11:30am with dark brown hair and a gross ombré and 6 hours later (I needed to be stripped and have A LOT of hair) I walked out blonde. I live in the Marigny, but now that I work part-time in Metairie, it got hard to get to my hairdresser uptown-and there I was across the street from Kenneth's. I was worried I would look like a Metairie blonde, but Amy did a wonderful job with my haircut, very meticulous, and later made my highlights brighter yet subtle. Dana did my wedding hair, and she did the best job ever!!! I went for a trial during Jazzfest, since I live out of state and was in town for that, and my curls held up then, so I knew I'd be good to go for the wedding in Sept. I am so pleased with Dana- she is professional and totally helped me feel calm on my big day. The front desk is awesome too- Mary Beth even contacted me to get exact details for my hairstyle. I have been going to this location for about 6 years now. I only let one woman touch my hair and she was here up until a month ago. The salon itself is pretty  nice. I am always greeted at the door when I walk in. The girls at the front desk are very nice and welcoming. They're always knowledgeable and able to answer my questions. Typically, there is a glass server with water and cut up fruit slices in it for customers to help themselves...Yum! The services are a bit more expensive than what you might see in an average salon, but I don't mind at all. I feel like this is one of those instances of  "you get what you pay for". I like the people that work there, they are all very nice and professional. My stylist for 6 years was Lynn and as I mentioned above she is no longer there. My hair always came out exactly the way I wanted it even when I couldn't articulate exactly what I wanted!! She was and still is just so amazing. I had two others at this location do my hair in emergency situations; Amy and Jeffrey. Both are great too. When Lynn left, Amy was assigned to do my color and i was sooooooooo nervous.... but she really redeemed herself. She far surpassed my expectations. I left feeling refreshed and super hot! This salon also stocks a very large quantity of high class hair products. All in all, i like this salon. I'm not sure if I will continue to go here since Lynn left, but the rest of the stylists here seem to be pretty good at what they do. If you haven't been here, I would say give it a try. Read Less

I have been getting my hair cut and styled at Kenneth's for 13 years and have been completely satisfied. The staff is professional, competent and caring. After Katrina, we moved out of state only to experience lots of bad food and lots of bad hair days!! We moved back to NOLA recently and I was back at Kenneth's within a week. I almost hate to share my great experiences because I don't want Amy to ever be so booked she can't fit me in! :) BUT, with the being said, I believe it's important to give where credit is due. Amy is an incredible hair stylist. For those who know me, know that, without formal training, I can cut hair, dye, perm, etc. my hair & others - so, that makes me one of the worse type of hair salon clients, since I am very picky! Amy took the time to ask me what I wanted, discussed my hair type, recommended a style based on what I wanted, along with her recommendations. I must admit, my skepticism diminished with every question she asked. Needless to say, I left with a style that made me feel great, enhanced my facial features for a mid-fifties female and gave my thin hair a thicker appearance, plus the colic no longer parted! I am indeed a happy, satisfied customer and will recommend Amy to anyone, any age, for any style. Let me preface this review: As a new resident to the New Orleans Metro Area, I knew nothing about the salons. Right before Christmas, I phoned several, finally finding one that would take me. It was a horrible experience. It almost ruined my life. Bad cut, bad service, bad everything. I was miserable with my new cut. The review starts here: Upon walking into Kenneth's Salon in Metairie, as a walk-in for brow waxing, they handed me off to Amy. We started chatting and I decided right then that she would be my stylist. Now, fast forward to when I needed my hair cut. Finally, after being disgusted, still, with the previous cut, I decided I was tired of trying to fix hair that was just BLAH. Amy got me right in, looked at my hair, and explained what was WRONG with my hair from the previous place. I was completely at ease with her experience, professionalism, and understanding of exactly what I wanted done to my hair. She not only fixed the mistakes of the previous person, but truly gave me the cut that fit ME. I've not been this happy with a hair style in some time. Additionally, the staff of Kenneth's is superb. I am always greeted with a smile. Overall, the misery of my Christmas salon experience is erased as I realize that it led me to a wonderful stylist. My current stylist and colorist, Dana, has always done a great job. First stylist married and moved out of town, second relocated after Katrina. I unlike the other reviewer am very please with the service I recieve at Kenneth's Salon. I go to the Vet's location and have had nothing, but the best customer service. My hair always looks fabolous. I also have my childrens hair cut there and I am asked where do we go to get the cut because it is done so well. I was referred to this salon by a couple of different people and was looking to do some highlights on my medium brown hair. After waiting two weeks to get my appointment, I showed the colorist the pictures of what my hair used to look like with highlights and what I wanted to look like ( light brown with ash blonde highlights). She proceeded to put a bottle of bleach into my hair and then warn me not to be alarmed by the ""reddish"" color because the highlights would blend in so well I wouldn't be able to see it anymore. Once we got to the mirror I realized the ""reddish"" tint was bright orange. The highlights she put on it were so yellow that my whole head looked like it could glow in the dark! I was horrified but I didnt know what to say because I was in shock. I asked what I could do about the orange color and she told me there was nothing strong enough at the salon to help me so I should go buy the purple shampoo and conditioner they sell at Sally's and use it everyday. She said it would be a process to get me where I wanted my hair to be but never told me prior to the bleach that I would be walking around with orange hair! I went straight to Sally's from the salon and the lady who worked there told me it was meant for brassy blonde not orange but to try it anyways. I couldn't even sleep that night I was so upset . The next morning I decided if I was embarassed to go to work, that was enough of a reason for me to go back and try to fix it somehow. I called and spoke to Mary Beth and she was very nice, and booked me an appointment at the St Charles location (the bleach nightmare occured at the Vets location) where the owner would be. Even though I had never met anyone that worked at this salon, they all knew who I was when I walked in (the hair did get me noticed). The owner began moving my hair around and looking at different angles and he told me if I wanted to go blonde this was the color I had to be. What no one seemed to understand was that I only wanted highlights! He told the girl who would be ""fixing"" my hair to throw in some lowlights and kept talking over me when I was trying to explain what I wanted. I felt stupid, humiliated, and embarassed. The girl who worked on my hair was really sweet and seemed to know what she was doing- she didn't listen to everything he told her because she knew it wasn't what I wanted- but at this point there was only so much they could do. My hair was now a caramel/orange melange- and I got charged again. They didnt charge me for the color, but they charged me for the style which I needed since I was going back to work- which wouldnt have had to buy if I wasnt getting my hair fixed. The orange was still overwhelming. I bought almost $100 worth of products on top of the almost $300 I had spent on getting my hair done (twice) to try to keep it from breaking and falling off. I ended up having to go to a different salon that weekend (Keith Noonan- awesome place!) to get it fixed. They were so helpful and sensitive about what had happened and also in shock at the condition my hair was in. They were able to tone the orange to a light brown until my hair is healthy enough to get highlights again. Im not from here and I followed recommendations I got from two people about this salon. While I dont think the woman who bleached my hair intended to give me orange hair, the way the salon owner treated me and then charged me again is just not acceptable. My hair is falling out like crazy, I had to spend another $200 in getting it fixed at the other salon and conditioners to try to get it healthy again- resulting in over $600 for some highlights. I just dont want anyone to every have to go through what Ive been through in this last week. Please be cautious if you go to this salon and if you go to the St Charles location, the only person I would let touch my hair is Dara. Beware of the mean old man. Good luck! Read Less
