This is by far the worst nail salon I have ever been to. The lady that did my nails, Kim, was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I asked for a specific color and showed a picture for her to guide me to a similar one and she snapped at me that she could not help me. She was very rushed and did a terrible job with the shape and paint. Now, less than a week after I got acrylic nails, they are grown out. I asked her to cut my cuticles, but she said she would later for $5 extra. If she had done my cuticles in the beginning, it would have made the nails last longer. Just paid for their most expensive pedicure after describing that I wanted a long and relaxing pedicure. 30 minutes later and I'm already having my toes drying now. She did not speak at all, the polish is not applied well. I asked for my toes to be cut very short... they are not... which I should have caught but I'm not used to actually having to monitor my toes being done. I'm going to Florida next week and will probably need to get a polish change when I get back in Houston. So disappointed after being sent her based on recommendations. The staff is not the slightest bit friendly. I was given the rudest look when I asked if she could clean off the sides of my toes with polish remover since she got the polish all over the side. The NU pedicure is advertised for $40 at the front, $42 on the menu, but then they charged me $43.... this place just sucks. Don't waste your money. Read Less

I used to love this nail salon, but, after the way they treated my daughters, I will not be back. They have pedicure chairs for little girls, so I brought my 5 and 3 year old. They were so excited! They were both so well behaved, listened, and remained still. My 5 year old had two colors picked out and, when she tried to politely tell the lady what color she wanted on her toes, the lady yelled at her to "keep still." It scared my daughter and she burst into tears! Both workers rushed through their toes and nails, acted annoyed, were not sweet to the girls, and constantly had raised voices telling them not to move, even though they were staying still! My 3 year old was practically frozen for fear of being yelled at...again! What was supposed to be a nice day with my daughters was ruined by this salon's bad attitude and lack of respect. It's a good place depending on who you get.  The lady that did my nails yesterday was extremely fast, on the sloppy side, and rough.  Not to mention she used extremely hot water for my pedicure and I like pretty hot water, just not boiling.  The first 2 times I was there, the ladies were good.  Wish I got their names so that I can request them in the future. Service is great once you are waited on, but do not just walk-in or you may find yourself waiting depending on the day of the week. Having an appointment scheduled makes a significant difference, & once you find a tech you like & can request, it makes all the difference! Read Less

Been going to Avalon for years. The nail techs are friendly and courteous, and get to know you. Kim is my favorite and I always ask for her. She does great quality work and takes her time. The only other tech I've used there is Nee and she does very good work too. The nail polish quality is good, lasts about 2 weeks but could be better. If you're looking for quality in service and friendly people, Avalon is your place but if you're looking for polish to last long, you can use theirs (which lasts about 2 weeks) or consider bringing your own. The pedicure was very good. I have rough heels and the technician smoothed them very well. The leg massage was nice and longer then most. The lights in the salon gave me a headache, though, which kept me from fully enjoying it. The only negative thing is the price. The technician asked if I wanted a particular type of pedi. I did not understand her, she simply pointed to a poster. I said sure, unknowingly agreeing to a $42 pedicure, which is more than I like to spend. Not impressed here at all. My usual place was closed (the one by Que Pasa on Nelson Rd.) so I stopped in for a pedi. The place is extremely claustrophobic -very cluttered with junk, and as many chairs as they can squeeze in.  I received way less pedi for way more money than at my usual location. When I asked the gentleman about it, he said they explained that what I was getting was way better and last longer -they didn't, it wasn't and it didn't. And the incense smell was extremely overwhelming, I couldn't wait to leave there because my allergies were going nuts!!  I do not recommend this salon. Read Less

I was staying nearby and needed my nails done. It's been a long time, so I wasn't sure exactly what the new trends were and what I wanted.. I walked in and it was busy. They were very friendly. Tammy took her time in explaining what was new and what was the best for me. It wasn't the most expensive, but just right for me! I had the shellac (sp?) Only 17.00! I brought my Mom for a special treat to this salon, and it was the worst pedicure I have ever had. Very rushed. Little to no English, at least that is what they want you to think. For the first time in my life I had the paint chip off one of my toes within an hour. I was in flip flops and was being very careful! I had already left town for the occasion, and now stuck looking for a salon with the same color polish so that I can attempt to fix that one toe. I used to be a customer of this nail salon since it opened. However the past year I have not been getting good serivce. Actually, the employees have been very rude, the quality of work has declined, and sometimes you get charged incorrectly. The last time I went in I was not satisfied with the work done, I spoke up and the girl passed me on to someone guy who was extremely rude, squeezed my hand very hard as he fixed what the girl did. I eventually got up and left with my nails looking horrible. I will never go there again. Read Less
