I was in need of a refill for my acrylic nails. They told me it was $25 (Compared to other places​ that charge $12-$16)...... 25!!! I was in shock quite frankly. What EXACTLY am I paying SO much extra for? I mean, will I get to take home the bottle of polish I choose? Can I have the files that would be used on me? Needless to say, I did NOT have them done. For $25, I can go to my old place, get them SOAKED OFF, have a NEW set put on with painted TIPS!!! While I understand it may be a tad more "upscale" than other places, but in my personal opinion that's HIGH. I know some places are a LITTLE more expensive than others but WOW.... Please do not waste your time or money at this establishment. I paid extra to get gel nails for my daughter so they would last longer and they came off after 9 days and the polish looked terrible after a week. The massage for the pedicure is always great. But they rush so fast to get everything done that the nail tech I had didn’t let my nails dry completely with the timer (I have gel nails) here I am not even a week later and my gel nail polish is peeling off. So disappointed in this salon. Been a customer for a year or so and am always referring friends. Just lost my business though. After rushing to the Westbank and arriving at 6:50 I was told they could only fix 3 chipped nails since it was 2 weeks out. Totally understandable. I said I will just do a full set (dip powder is pretty quick). I was told they didn't have time because they close at 7:30...and then told by the nail tech it's not her fault, they leave at 7:15. A friend of mine recommended that we go here since we were having a girl's day out and the salon was big enough to accommodate all 4 of us all at once. We made an appt a few days in advance with no problems. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a nice receptionist that checked us in and immediately the techs were ready for us. I decided on getting the nail polish change ($8) and the citrus spa pedicure($45). The pedicure included a citrus exfoliate, callus remover, a cooling mask treatment along w/ hot towels with a 20 min massage. When I first sat down in the chair, a tech name Son immediately started on my massage. Apparently the 20 min massage that was part of the pedicure was divided between my feet and hands. So he massage my hands for about 10 mins then proceeded to my feet. This was a little strange because usually the massages doesn't happen towards the end of my pedicure but i guess they do things reverse? However, that massage was amazing though.After he was done w/ my massage another nail tech name Duc came over to shape and buff my nails for the polish change. The shape was horrible and on top of that while my nails were drying, I notice there were nothing but bubbles throughout the polish. (i should have taken a pic of how horrible it looked) The color I had chosen was a wine color. So I had ask him if he could fix it or if i could change it to a different polish. He didn't hesitate on changing it. He did blamed it was due to the top coat he had used was low and seem to be old. So the next color I chose was a nude color. When he removed my nail polish I had red stains all around my nails and it wasn't even taken completely off. You can still see the red polish around my cuticles when he put the nude polish on. He then proceeded to do my pedicure and everything he did was rushed. He didn't even attempt to scrub the bottom of my feet.  At this point, I was pretty upset and didn't feel like dealing with him anymore. When I went to check out and pay, I asked the receptionist if someone can come clean up my nails because i can't walk out with half nude nails and half wine polish surrounding my cuticles and fingers. Needless to say, I won't be returning back here. The facility is bigger than what it looks like from the outside and the decor/furnitures are nice and up-to-date. Don't waste your money or time. We have places that are much better and more reasonably priced. I got the new dip nails & they started raising up at 7 days. I went in at Day 10 & they wanted me to pay to get them fixed. I told them I would be happy if the just removed them. Was told it would be $5.00, then he said $10.00. Terrible service, I walked in and asked for a French tip manicure, the lady said to me " your nails to ugly for French tip, I gonna paint it solid color" I could have easily walked in another nail salon by here to get someone to give me a fench tip beacuse they have before. And as she was trimming around my cuticles, I noticed my fingers were bleeding!! She literally cut all my fingers!!! And yes now my nails are to ugly for French tips thanks to her. Horrible service! And the menu they offer is false advertisement! Will never go back or recommend anyone to this place! Ever since I got a pedicure from them my feet and ankles have been swelling badly and I have a cut on the side of my foot from the tool they use to get the dead skin off of your feet. A tale of 2 nail techs. This story actually begins at POLISHED, THE WB spot for nails. I mean, Polished is like a nightclub with a velvet rope. If you want to get in you gotta wait your turn. But they have earned that reputation (see review). So due to a last minute situation, I had to cancel my previously scheduled appt there. This is 4th of July weekend so I had made the appt 3 weeks in advance. (Hint: if you want service I recommend calling at least 2 weeks in advance. I barely scraped in at 3 week notice) I called on a Monday (cuz who the heck gets their nails done on a Monday, right? It should be easy to get a fill) but was DENIED. They had no openings. So I had seem Avalon Nail Bar on Manhattan many times while visiting Michaels or Sallys and it looked reallllly nice and big so I figured I would give it a try. First impression-WOW. BEAUTIFUL!! Bright!! Spacious!! SO MANY NAIL COLORS. Seriously. i've never seen so many options.  I was EXTRA impressed because the bottles didn't look old and gnarly with dried paint/half dried color inside. All the bottles looked new.   I selected a color. I wanted the express pedi but all the techs were busy so the receptionist recommended I get the full pedi and tgey would start with the massage to give the nail tech time to get to me. I decided to just go with a polish change. The lady who did my toes didn't impress me. She left traces of my old color along my cuticles, and didn't clean the cuticles at all. I don't think the color will last as long as a result. When she was done she didn't clean the edges with nail polish remover and she did not oil my cuticles. I had to call the receptionist over and she did it for me. At this point I was leery for my fill, but NELSON quickly dispatched with any reservations that I may have had. He suggested a cut down (how did he know they were just a bit too long?) and then said "round square?"  I made sure to add that I like them to look as thin as possible. Ge said "This must be your first time here". He quickly. Expertly. Deftly filled, filed, shaped and polished my nails. He cleaned them up underneath. I am blown away. He is my new nail tech. They are so thin and cleanly shaped. Pruce wise $25 for a fill and $10 for the polish change. I think Hannah was the lady that did my toes. So Avalon would have gotten just 2.5/3 stars based on her but Nelson rocked a 4 star service and earned his high marks. Read Less

Ive been here three times in the last 6 weeks, the first i left out in tears, the tech literally painted a quarter of nail white even after i showed her a picture of what i wanted and asked for less white. They were gel nails so i had to wait to have them redone, granted the gentleman there was very apologetic and got it fixed for me when i came back free of charge (it was later the same day). The second time was a little better but they were in rush as it was a Saturday and they had just opened and people had alreadg been waiting. The gel was a little sloppy and started to peel up within the first 3 days. But this last time i waited to give my number (thats the norm) they said it would be 30 minute wait to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted. I was fine with that. Other customers came gave their numbers, were told the wait time (now its 45 minutes to an hour) and were told they could get a call when they were ready. No one ever actually got a phone cal for their appointment. 45 minutes later she calls me and asks "did she tell you?" I said no already slightly annoyed she proceeds to tell me that they cant do the tint without an appointment. I just love having my time wasted. Read Less

The place is great for a pedi that's all I've had there. However I went in today for a pedi on my birthday. I was told it would be 45 minutes. I could go walk around and come back, which I did for about 15 minutes. I came back and waited. After 1 hour and 10 minutes I asked the receptionist how much longer and she said they already called my name and I wasn't there. Then they said they ere sorry and it would only be another minute. Then 5 minutes later they asked me to sit and wait. I left and will not return. I drive to La she on Canal Street and after waiting 5 minutes I received a great pedicure and great service. I received a manicure (with gel nails) and a pedicure.  It was absolutely awesome.  Here is why I'm rating so low.  The receptionist (as sweet as she was while I was) didn't give me an approximate time on when I will be able to start my pedicure.  Another couple walked in after me and the gentleman behind the counter told them it'll be 45 minutes. I would've love for her to say, "Ma'am it will be about a 20 minute wait, is that okay?" NOPE, I didn't get that.  She also told me she'd booked me for a facial on Monday (which was my birthday and I was really excited about it), but on Monday I went in for my facial and was told "She tried to call you (WHICH SHE DID NOT), but she didn't get an answer."  I immediately went to my missed calls (nothing), so the receptionist lied.  The young lady apology and told me I can wait about 15 minutes and she'll be able to assist me, but it was my birthday and I wasn't waiting (hence me making an appointment).  As much as I love the ambiance here, I will not go back.  There are so many nail places that I don't have to pay these high prices for such basic service. When I walked in I was greeted by a friendly receptionist with a warm, inviting spirit, and a smile. The decor in this place is AMAZING! Clean and neat setup with red accents set this place apart from the rest! They definitely cater to their customers and the experience. I wish I could leave a -10 stars for this buffoonery that was done to my nails! 70.00 for this foolishness. First of all, the receptionist stated that I couldn't get matte polish over acrylic nails, and that it has to be a fake nail. My daughter, who is more familiar with having her nails done, informed me that acrylic is placed over a fake nail anyway so that was a load of bull to charge more money. All of my nails are uneven, dull, flat, and I was notified that I couldn't use the same polish for my manicure that was used for my pedicure AFTER my feet were already finished. I use to work for McNail Bar but I recently quit when they cut my hours back because I wanted to attend my brothers funeral. (They called it poor attendance.) I might be a little disgruntled but it doesn't mean that I'm not telling the truth when I tell you about their poor business practices. For those  of you that have been there before the massages you get for the pedicure are usually not done by licensed massage therapist. They have only a handful of actual massage therapists so if you get an Asian person giving you a massage they are not licensed massage therapist. As for the nail technicians many of them are not only not licensed Nail technicians but are not legal to work in this country. Yes the owner hires illegal immigrants to work in all of her Nail shops. If you don't believe me ask to see their license they have to provide it on request. (They are actually supposed to have them displayed.) Read Less

My 3 daughters and I visited this nail spa over the weekend. I must say that I was impressed at first sight. As our visit continued I did realize how terrible customer service was. A massage therapist actually took my newborn granddaughter away from my daughter (without asking), and refused to give her back when we commanded her to do so. That same massage therapist never stops talking. She is completely out of line. My youngest daughter had a new technique applied to her nails. It peeledOff the same day. When we returned to the salon to have her nails redone; they refused to warranty the nails. So, we spent $300.00, and the management refused to redo a $40.00 service. That is just stupidity. We have been to mcnails several times, because they are open on Sundays. No one in my 10 person household will ever return. You guys had the opportunity to make $600. A month, but because of your refusal to redo a $40. service; you have lost a whole large family of customers. Like I told you today---you are an idiot. I will be sure to spread the news. Got a gel manicure done here exactly one week ago. At first I thought the fact that the manicurist took about 20 minutes from start to finish was a good thing, but seeing as the polish on every nail has started coming off after absolutely no rough treatment I'm thinking it wasn't a good thing. Probably one of the best pedicures I have ever had. I had the Happy Feet pedicure which included arm and leg massages, a green tea scrub and a foot mask. The pedicure chairs are very comfortable and unlike any other I have ever seen. It's also huge and spacious so you don't feel like you are on top of anyone. I also enjoyed my mimosa :-). I've been a consistent customer with the Nail Bar approximately a year going in mostly for gel polish changes every 2-3 weeks. I've been happy with the service for the most part, however, I was displeased and dissappointed with how the manager attempted to bill me at the end of the service. I selected a color for my nails with input from the nail tech. that normally takes care my nails. She's great, and very professional. Unfortunately, after applying 3 coats of the same polish, because the polish color didn't provide an even distribution of color on each nail, she was made aware that I was unhappy with the color choice. We picked a different color for that reason. Once I was done with the service, I proceeded to the register to pay, and was told that I had to pay an extra 10dollars because of another polish change. I was told this by the manager. I explained to him the circumstances,and why I needed to change the color. He told me he'll waive the 10 dollar fee this time, but will have to charge me next time. He did not seem to understand that I didn't want halfway polished nails. I pay to receive consistent, professional service each time I go!! I didn't appreciate being told that ,and left yesterday feeling like my time there wasn't as enjoyable. Terrible customer service. Today I went in with a friend of mine and I was getting a refill on my nails. I picked a flat black color which I have never done a matte finish before. Once it was done I said that I didn't like it. So I went to the front and asked if I could get another color or maybe a design or just something because I was really unhappy with. I was very nice and polite so I got pretty offended with how I was treated. The front lady was like" why did you get black" "A lot of people complain about the way the matte looks in black" and she just kept going with her remarks. So eventually she said someone will get to me. Then the manager comes to me and rudely asks me whats wrong. I explain that I just was unhappy and would like to add a design or change the color. He said that they would have to recharge me for everything because the work was already done. He said they could only not charge the whole thing over is if I said something with the first two nails. I explained there is no way I could have said I hated it because I got solar and then the matte finish which all goes under the UV light and even when he put the matte finish he had to rub alcohol on it to get the finish look. So It wasn't even possible for me to say anything until the end. So he said someone will be with me shortly to fix it and storms off. I waited over 30 minutes and no one came. If you have been here you know they have a huge staff. I looked around and at least 5 went to the back just sitting and others were just on their phone. So I decided it wasn't worth it and I'll just pay and leave. Well my friend stayed behind because she was getting her toes done and from the back where she was she could hear the front two ladies talking about me. Even when my friend came up to pay they were still saying really rude comments about me.I am appalled by the terrible customer service and the lack of professionalism that these staff members presented today. The only reason I'm giving two stars is for the massage you get with the happy feet pedicure.  The massage was nice and you get a drink. The lady messed up my eyebrows. She made them so thin and short. I specifically said leave them thick just clean up. They look horrible , now I have to create new eyebrows.I went there to get a gel refill using gel powder. They use a different type of gel powder and once the guy realized what it was he says I've never done it but I want to try it on you. Umm no I am not your guinea pig. The nail tech for the pedicure did a rush job, not really getting all the dead skin and she cut my nails too short. I get home for my husband to tell me I have the green mask stuff all on the back of my legs. And my feet were dry. For what they charge the services need to match the facility. Prepare to wait before & during your services.  I had a $45 gift card for the Happy Feet Pedi.  It was your usual pedicure along with a massage for your legs, feet hands & arms.  One person does your pedicure & another gives you the massage.  I went on a Saturday at 11am.  There was a 40 minute wait so I rescheduled for the Monday at 12pm (my lunch hour b/c I was told the Happy Feet Pedi would last an hour).  I showed up at 11:50am & had to wait for my chair to be ready.  If you know you have an appointment coming in for 12pm you would think the chair would have been ready.  What I don't understand is why is there about 15 to 20 stations and only 4 Tech's.  It was like this Saturday when I went so I can see why there is always such a long wait.  They offer you a beverage (water, juice, or soft drink).  When the tech walked off to get my water I thought she wasn't coming back b/c of the time it took her to go get it.  The pedicure was ok.  Pretty standard / nothing special.  Chairs are not those awesome massage chairs but they are comfortableOnce the pedi was done I had to sit 25 minutes to wait for one of the only 2 employee's who give the massages to finish their bullshi* session at the other end of the row of chairs.  Once the girl finally made her way to me she spent more time looking around, off in la la land, turned around trying to watch tv then she put effort into my halfas* massage.  She cut my massage short by 10 minutes but by this time I am ready to get out of here b/c now I am almost 1/2 hour late from lunchAs I checked out they charged me another $5 to get french pedi instead of a polish.  The experience just wasn't worth the $60.  I'll stick with Solar Nails II on Barataria Blvd in Marrero Read Less

I walked into the nail bar on the west bank in Louisiana around 6 pm last Saturday night for a gel manicure and pedicure and was greeted by the receptionist that was very short with me. She did not have any patience for questions. She quickly moved me out of the way to speak to the next person in line. The massage was so good that I forgot about the rudeness I first encountered from the receptionist. Then the nail tech came to do my pedicure. She was very upset to be doing my pedicure when she was "tired and ready to go home." She complained the entire time. She started off speaking to the tech beside her in their native language. Then she began complaining in English so she obviously wanted me to know how angry she was. She complained about having a 30 minute drive home, being stuck there while others were able to leave, having to miss out on going out to Masquerade, not eating much that day, being busy with no breaks all day, etc. The complaining was NON-STOP. She actually got up and walked off from my service. I asked her when she came back if there was a problem. She told me no that she went to the restroom and then continued to complain. Finally she finished, leaving two of my toes with smeared polish. I was so annoyed that I didn't bother saying anything to her. I then went over to do my manicure. The tech talked so much to the others on side of her in her native language that she looked up at them more then down at my nails. I left with a fresh manicure that looked like it was at least a week old with new growth. I complained to the manager when I checked out. He simply apologized and gave me my total. Omg! This place was absolutely amazing! I decided to give this place a try, because my usual nail salon is closed on sundays. So, this is perfect that they are opened on Sundays. I'm very particular, about where i go & who does my nails. This place has set the bat high and has exceeded my expectations. I'm goad that i gave it a try. I will definitely be back. They  provide % customer satisfaction. All the staff are professional & accommodating to your needs. It was my first time patronizing & boy was i in for a surprise. I love the fact, that i received a full hand & foot massage before my actual service even started. I forgot to mention, the complimentary glass of wine.Following, my manicure & pedicure services. I stopped in last Tuesday for a pedicure. I chose the Pedi-Flex with Michael and it was to die for. This is the only pedicure I've had where 1) I was able to completely disconnect and put my cell phone down and 2) relax enough to close my eyes. I decided to add a simple mani and as I type a full week later only now is my polish beginning to chip. No gel or special anything, just regular OPI shade. This is something unheard of in my experience. I usually see chipping after 2 days. I highly recommend this place. Treat yourself and ask for Michael or Gina whr you reserve a massage. Both are gifted with their hands. The location is very clean, calm environment. I arrived on a Tuesday afternoon and had no appointment. I was able to get right in. Read Less

This place is smoke and mirrors with TERRIBLE customer service!!!!! So pluses, their facility is beautiful and clean, they use an autoclave religiously and have separate little nail packs they give you at each visit (I've been 3-4 times), their mani/pedis are subpar, rushed and sometimes the polish is uneven and sloppily done. Expect them to talk to each other in their native tongue and not really interact with clients at all. They even have a cocktail bar so I guess they want you buzzed to overlook the shoddy job they are doing. I've been left at the counter while asking about color selections without so much as a 'I'll be right back to you'. Their communication and service is terrible, but the place is so pretty! I went in for the first time yesterday afternoon without an appointment. They were able to take care of me as soon as I entered even though there were already a small dozen of people. I was offered a bottle of water and the man that did my nails did a great job and was very meticulous. The place is huge and bright. Quite relaxing, too, and it feels princess-like with those big deep red curtains separating the different pedicure chairs. I saw that this place opened a few months ago -- so I thought that I would give it a try today. I got the basic mani and the pedi with the hand, arm, leg and foot massage. A licensed massage therapist performed the massage for 20 minutes -- as far as massages go, I would rate it a 7 out of 10. She was a little distracted while performing the service. Then the ladies started with the mani and pedi. Both services were excellent. I really like their pedi chairs. They are much more comfortable than the ones that most salons have. The bill came to $65.00 which is more money than I am used to spending at a nail salon. I will probably go back again -- although I don't know if the entire experience on a personal level was worth paying more money than I usually do. Read Less
