DISCRIMINATORY & NO COMMON COURTESY. I usually go to L'amour Nails in Metairie, but i have since moved across the river to Algiers. Soo i researched a bunch of nail shops near my new location and went through a bunch of reviews. I was really hoping to find a more "upscale" nail salon. After looking over all of them i decided to go to Hi Nails in Gretna. I went there today and I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED at the LACK of Customer Service and honestly the complete ABSENCE of common courtesy. I walked into the Nail salon Today, it was pretty busy but the Nail Techs and what appeared to be the owner (asian guy maybe mid 30's seated at the first booth) all made eye contact with me but did not speak...AT ALL. They all kept looking me over, but never verbally acknowledged me. No on said Hello, how can we help you today, what will you be getting done today, NOTHING. So i asked the lady next to me, had she been waiting long, she said no...i asked her was there a sign in sheet? She said no. Soo..i observed the clientele and made a observation that MAJORITY of the clientele while i was there was Caucasian/Hispanic.(i am African American) So i decided to wait as i was puzzled no one had the decency to verbally ACKNOWLEDGE i was there after looking at me repeatedly. I was ready to leave at that point, but i purposefully waited to see if the next customer that came in would be greeted or not. And sure enough, the next person that came in was Caucasian and the guy who appeares to be the owner PROMPTLY spoke to the woman and asked her what she would be having done today! At that point i politely got up, excused myself out, and left. I couldn't believe it. I literally FELT they did not want to service me. So I drove 25 minutes to L'amour Nails in metairie and HAPPILY spent $120.00 for the treatment & quality service im accustomed to. I wont ever go back to this shop, and i wont recommend it to any one. Im honestly not leaving this review for potential customers, im leaving this in hopes that the owner reads it. I've been coming to Hi Nails religiously since 2014 and I can't say I have a single complaint. In a pinch before I've had to go to other nail shops since then and I'm always reminded of the level of quality I get only at Hi Nails. I mainly do gel and not only does their gel last but their prices are very reasonable. They are always happy smiling friendly and offer you a drink when you get there. Thanks Vincent for my beautiful Ombré nails, I love it!! I am so impressed and amazed how beautiful my nails look.  Can't wait to show off my nails tomorrow at my niece's wedding. Vincent  is so talented and you can tell  he loves what what he's doing. I came there tonight, there were a lot of people in the shop because of the Holiday plus they're popular, but he took his time, pay attention to very detail and he makes sure they come out perfect. Went here because my mother-in-law goes here and I'm in town visiting. When we arrived, I told one of the techs there what I needed (a fill, 1 nail repair and gel polish). She told me to pick a color; I did and had a seat to wait. There were 5 techs seeing 5 customers so clearly I knew there was a wait. Instead of telling me to either come back or give me an estimated time it would be until I was seen, one tech told me to have a seat at a station. She then began to set the station up as if she were getting ready to start my service. Instead, she set the station up, then walked BACK to her client and continued their service and just had me waiting...what? Why not tell me to come back in a few hours or tomorrow or simply let me know how long it would be. I've always had a tech communicate with these things with a client. Fantastic service with a wonderful atmosphere! The owner is always there and she and her staff are very attentive to all of your needs. They make an effort to get to know every customer that comes in the door, and they offer beverages to you as you decide on your colors or services. Some are shorter then others, there not shaped rite, there uneven, there super thick and the polish was painted on to thick when i left the shop my nails were still wet! And i set under the dryer 20 mins! So you can imagine what they looked like! And it was closing time i was the last one in there. So the next day i went somewhere else to get them fix and re-polish! I went here as a recommendation from a friend that's been going here for a long time. It's a small place and they were busy but I was taken right away. I got a gel manicure. A man, one of the owners, started to do my nails until a woman finished the pedicure she was doing and came to finish them, she was also an owner. They asked with I wanted anything to drink and made small talk and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. They were nice. The manicure came out so wonderful. It was an amazing experience and wonderful work. I've worked in a nail bar and a nail bar and spa before and I've seen MANY manicures, good and bad, this was a great job. I've been coming here so long I can't believe I never reviewed them on here. Just went there today for a full set of acrylics and a pedicure. That total came to less than $50 which I think is fantastic. As soon as you sit down they offer you a drink. The pedicure chairs I have a massage back which was turned on immediately. I have not been that relaxed in months. The pedicures they are very meticulous with and don't miss a single step. Exfoliate, sugar scrub, massage, hot towel ...the whole 9 yards. My manicure came out perfect. She was very careful and still did it quickly.  I know it's going to last at least 2 to 3 weeks...they do every time I go. You won't regret going here. Have been here twice and I am not impressed! My acrylic nails are super thick. My nails are way longer on one hand than the other. Also, it's been almost two hours and my nails are still not fully dry because they just slap the polish on so thick and don't let it dry before putting on more! Read Less

It's a clean, quiet little salon on the West Bank that I will definitely be back to when I have time to beat the CCC Bridge traffic. If you're a fan of OPI (which I am), they have a pretty decent nail polish selection: mostly basic pinks, reds and darks. They didn't have my favorite colors Chocolate Mousse and Nomad's Dream, but I settled with some other similar colors. The staff is really pleasant and had no issue adjusting anything from pedicure bath water to my request for very thin, natural looking acrylics. The biggest con for me was their attempt to do my acrylics while I was still getting my feet done. I can understand if I was in a rush and requested it, but I was just puzzled and told them I would get it done after my pedicure. Of course, I was sad that they didn't have my favorite colors :(The best thing about this place is the pricing. 50$ for a mani/pedi and acrylic full set. I didn't catch my manicurists' name, but it's the only male there and he was a beast at doing my nails. Made them natural and just how I like them, and did it literally in 30 minutes with no errors. I love this place. The equipment is upscale for this part of town (in my opinion). They operate quickly but do a great job. I've only had experience with gel manis and french tip pedis so I can't speak to their skills elsewhere. $30 for a mani pedi on week days, plus $18 for gels. I saw someone said it was $15 but I was billed $48 total, soooo. Yeah, not really a place to sit and chat but they are friendly and like to get you in and out. Read Less

I will say that it never bothered me that much before that the results were always a little different because I was still moderately pleased with the results but today will be the LAST TIME I EVER go to this place. Prior to going in, I knew that one of my eyebrows naturally grows thicker than the other. The... employee noted this as well. I expected her to match the thicker one with the one that was thinner. She spent alot time plucking my eyebrows and did very minimal waxing. Plus the wax wasn't really warm at all. Long story short, when I got home and took a look at my eyebrows intently I realized I have TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT EYEBROW SHAPES. It is awful and now I will have to fill them in with lots of makeup and make sure I wear my hair in front of one of my eyebrows so it is not noticeable because it is that awful. Went here for the first time today and absolutely loved this place. Had a manicure and pedicure and was out in a hour. The only minor complaint I had was that while my manicurist was doing my cuticles, she went a little too far and cut me, and I couldn't stop bleeding.  but other than that, great place and I think I found my new nail salon home. I have been getting gel polished nails, pedicures, and my eyebrows waxed here for about 2 years. The prices are great, but I don't like the plastic Saran Wrap liners they out in the pedicure basins.  I heard some nail techs are licensed, so I left. Read Less
