Avenue and my stylist is everything a good salon should be. It is like my favorite salon from the 1970s and 1980s, with stylists who get to know their clients and recommend what works best for them. The environment is comfortable and homey, not stark and edgy like the newer places. Think Steel Magnolias. I feel like I am amoung friends in a caring place here. If you are a baby boomer and miss the type of salons we all grew up with this place is for you. Ask for Irene. There are few times in life that you get a facial and you feel fabulous,refreshing and awesome, The facial I received from Angela was nothing short of that! She had great knowledge about skin and was really passionate about her work! I felt safe, comfortable and relaxed. She gave a custom facial and addressed my needs. I flew in from Baltimore to visit my sister and found this salon online. Cole was awesome and really cool to talk to! He did full highlights and a cut and blow dry and it looks amazing! I also mentioned that I needed my eyebrows waxed and he did those too! The salon is well designed, which was a very nice touch to the wonderful customer service. I was a little apprehensive because I've never been here before, but my mom raves about this place so I thought I would try it out. Cole did my hair (full foil with a smudge root) and I AM OBSESSED. One of the best things about Irene's service is that she is a wealth of knowledge and experience. If you are willing to learn, she will go out of her way to educate you on any beauty topic you have in mind. I live out of town and found this salon on here just on a whim!  It was like finding a diamond in the rough!  Thankfully they had a no show, so I got right in.  Irene took care of me and she was sweet as can be!  All I had done was a deep condition, but she gave me some good tips along the way.  Price was very reasonable too.  I would highly recommend this place. I'm new to the area and picked Avenue because it was close to the office and had pretty good reviews on Yelp.  Angelica did a great job with the cut (I have very fine hair, but a lot of it) and gave a lot of thought to how she wanted to cut my bangs.  And I love the result!  My cut is easy to maintain and, more importantly, easy to style on a daily basis.  As of today there are no prices listed on the website, but the hair cut was $22 (no shampoo, just the cut).  I gave four stars because I have only been once, but I'll be back. Absolutely the best place to go in Topeka!! I was a little apprehensive when walking. It seemed to serve an older clientele and being a college student I was unsure how it would go. However, the ladies in their are so sweet and easy to talk to. Also the prices are great. I went to get gel polish and they gave me a small hand massage as well. It was only $30. I've been several times to this business for massages. The masseuse is Kristina Crays (Not sure about the spelling). She gives the best massages that I have ever had.I am a different person after these massages. I feel so relaxed it's almost like a sleepy or drunken feeling. I feel like nothing could be wrong in the world.She is so friendly and calming that I start to feel relaxed even before the massage begins. The massage room is clean and warm. There is soothing music and low lights. The price is also very reasonable and even with competitors. My husband and I got a couple's massages a few times. The price for the couple's massages was less than the competitors. The only down side is that there is only one Kristina and one of us has had an assistant masseuse. Irene has been taking care of all my salon needs for years! Avenue hair is the only place I go or recommend for perms! She even got my moms hair to perm and her hair did not stay curly with past perms. Irene made it stay curly and looked great for months! I have been very happy with my gel nails too. I recommend her for waxing as well. She managed to make my eyebrows look good even with my funky scar. I have also received some great massages from 2 of her message therapist. Absolutely horrible! I went in for a perm and the lady that was there (Irene) cut 4" off my hair with out even asking if I wanted my hair cut in the first place. The perm didn't turn out the way it was suppose to either. I wanted curls not waves. Don't waste your time or money. Read Less

I went to Avenue Hair Styling & Day Spa based upon the fantastic reviews I read on Yahoo Local. I checked out their website at avehair.com and looked at the services they had to offer. They are a full service salon that offers: waxing, body wraps, different types of massage, manicures, pedicures, full sculpted nails, perms, hair coloring, deep conditioning treatments, brazilian smoothing, blowouts, shampoo & set,  and hair cuts from children to men.Edith answered the phone and was very polite and helpful. I booked a shampoo & set with her for 9 a.m. on June 28th. She was just as friendly and polite in-person, as she was on the phone. I showed her the magazine picture of the type of style I wanted.
