I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but I won't visit this salon again and I think that's worth telling others about.  I recently moved to Overland Park and have been looking for a nail salon.  Princess Nail got good reviews, so I tried it out.  I was very disappointed.  I asked for a gel manicure.  My hands were soaked in warm, soapy water for maybe two minutes tops.  The nail tech did trim and file my nails and trim my cuticles, however he rushed through it and did a sloppy job.  After painting my nails (extremely quickly), he squirted some lotion in my hands and told me to rub it in.  The whole experience took less than 25 minutes.   As soon as I got home, I painted over my gel. I understand that different salons offer different services, but what I received was not worth the $30 that I spent.  If I ask for a manicure, I expect someone to take their time with both the manicure and the polish. Nope - never again. I called here and 2 other salons, inquiring what the cost would be to remove gel nail polish from my real nails. All 3 places told me $5, w/no mention that I'd have to get a manicure to get that price. I went here b/c its closest to my house. I told them I'd called & was told $5. The girl was halfway thru taking it off and another employee came over and said it would be $10 unless I got a manicure. That's just wrong not to honor what was quoted. I have been going to this place a few months now, the owner was never friendly but not rude however yesterday i just needed a nail Polish change, when i got there the owner wasn't doing anything, i picked a color and when he finished my big toe i asked him kindly if he would actually use the other color , to which he said in a upset tone " u think i have nothing to do?" I feel awful because I am home and might have forgotten the correct name for who helped me--- Cody? He was SO nice and everything was wonderful. Fun chit chat, and  a picture perfect pedicure (see in posted photos!!!). He let me pick out four colors  and they really look lovely they were done with care!!! My girlfriend and I visited this location a couple days ago, and I would have to say that I was appalled as to how I was treated. I am a 6'3 300 pound Africa American male one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and I live in the area. This is the first time I had ever faced blatant disrespect to my face at any business due to my perceived skin color. When we first arrived there were about 2-3 people being serviced, more specifically there was one woman giving a pedicure to a little girl, this is the lady that gave me the issues. At first glance everything seemed okay but I noticed that the lady that worked there was starring at me with a displeased look on her face. A very nice gentleman asked what we were having. I stated that I was getting a manicure and that my girlfriend was to get a pedicure. As the gentleman began to set the station up for me he stated that the lady would be servicing me for my manicure once she was done with the little girls pedicure. Out of nowhere the lady shouted "no I'm not" as she said that I was shocked and speechless, the guy then said that she was busy (as if I didn't hear the displeasing tone of the lady initially). So at first I advised him that I would not be receiving services just my girlfriend, and then I thought about it and decided that I would not have my girlfriend be serviced either, and we left. I'm not saying that this is a non friendly establishment for African Americans but the experience that I had that day will forever be with me as this was the first time I felt like I wasn't the right gender or skin color to be treated fairly. This is not okay in my books. I will never visit nor support any business that has an issue with servicing everyone. I really hope someone reads this review and does not visit this location. We have to make a stand for unfair treatment, and let anyone who is servicing the public know that we as human beings will not support unfair treatment to any race, gender, or sexual orientation by any business. I needed a change and the nail salon I was going to didn't offer all the services I need, so I decided to change it up. As I was driving around, I saw "Princess Nails." Since people tend to call me "princess," (lol) I thought I'd try it.Tom, a super quiet guy, was able to fit me in right away and he did such a great job! I also asked him where I could get my lashes done & his wife Mindy said, "here, I do lashes here!"  One stop shop, their prices are reasonable and such kind service. Read Less

Terrible. Worst acrylic nails of my life. None of them are the same length or shape. And they are lumpy as heck. I asked for rounded nails on the shorter side and I got square nails that are so long I can not pick things up. I REPEATEDLY asked him to fix this and he acted like he didn't understand. Personally, I don't typically enjoy pedicures (because of technician's style) but wanted to do this with my daughter.  I will have to say that this was the BEST pedicure experience I have ever had.  The technician was SO gentle that it was actually enjoyable and relaxing.  My daughter and I enjoyed talking and relaxing together.  Since the technicians spoke English quite well, we enjoyed talking with them as well.  We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely return! Since moving to the area I've tried a few places for pedicures and this is my favorite so far. Don't expect a spa pampering because it's just your average little nail place. $25+ depending on the pedi you choose, which is average and fair. New to the pedicures, but put in an appointment time for 3 of us the morning of.  Well, we got there and no appointment and all chairs were full.  I was a little disappointed being that we had dinner reservations after, but we are a pretty patient group.  Spa pedi is 25 which is pretty mainstream.  They were not welcoming or friendly or for that matter apologetic for making us wait 30 minutes when we made a reservation.  I wont go back there again, but it wasnt a horrible experience.... except the Disney channel playing on all tvs with no kids in the place... not relaxing at all.  Go somewhere else in my opinion..... I have been a customer for the last 7 years. I am very happy with the service I receive every 3 weeks from them! They even offer me and other customers bottle of water. They are All licensed. No if about that! Look at their licenses at each station! Be real! The staff is very pleasant and nice! They should have called the police for you for not paying for services rendered! Ive been to princess nails several times and I find all the staff friendly and accomodating. I always have a relax and satisfying experience every time i have my pedi and manicure done. Their pricing id decent and they always do a fantastic job. i love they do the nail designs too. Very artistic! My toes and fingers look fancy and gives me new found confidence. I have been going to Princess Nails for years. I have been to many nail salons, but find Princess Nails to be superior in professionalism, and courtesy. The salon exceeded my expectations. I gave five stars because in all the years I have been a customer, I have never been dissatisfied. The technicians take great pride in their work and make sure you like your nails before you leave. They even offer to re-paint them if you are not satisfied. The technicians work hard to please their customers and it shows!! :) Read Less

I wish I could give this place 0 stars but I want to have this review published. For the first time in my life, I have actually filed a a formal complaint against a business, Princess Nails. I do not think these nail technicians are licensed. After a pedicure where I had to ask to have my nails smoothed AND my heels sloughed, I got up out of my chair and attempted to leave due to extremely poor service. When my polish was drying I noticed that my nail tech, a middle aged Asian man with very thinning hair that he attempts to spike on top, had not sloughed the dead skin off my heels. I mentioned this to a female tech who also works in the salon. To fix the problem, the idiots applied a lotion and told me to wait for a few minutes. He then started to scrape my heels WHEN THEY WERE DRY with a DRY METAL FILING BOARD. I was terrified I might get nicked and bleed due to using a DRY FILE ON DRY SKIN. I left the salon and he followed me out to my car where he told me he would call police if I did not pay. I actually would have paid half price or something like that since I did sit through the service. But he made no attmept to make anyhting right, and frankly, I am not certain he could have, since I do not think he has a license through the State of Kansas. Nice relaxing pedicure, huh? I paid the money, $25.00. I have registered a complaint in Topeka and hope it is investigated. I truly hope these UNLICENSED IDIOTS go broke or have to pay a stiff penalty for having unlicensed nail techs perform routine salon services. Highly unethical and dangerous. Read Less
