I made an appointment on Sunday around noon for a 10am appointment for Monday with Tina. I arrived on time & checked in. I sat down for not even a minute and I was told that Tina doesn’t arrive until noon. Okay? So why did the schedule allow me to book her for a 10am appointment if she wasn’t going to be here? This was a big inconvenience for me because now I had to find another shop that could get me in before it was time for me to head to work by noon. My advice is for them to update their appointment setting program so that clients such as myself won’t waste time setting an appointment, getting up early to drive across town only to be turned away because the employee they booked doesn’t arrive until a certain time. I'm not from KC originally, so finding a GOOD nail salon can be hard. My co-worker has introduced me to The Nailery and I'm so glad she did. Trang and Mimi are a few of the technicians I have had the pleasure of working with and they do such an amazing job. I had a gel mani that last 3 weeks!! I was so impressed! Typically they last 2-2.5 weeks, which is still great! I also, tried the dip for the first tome and I love it. They have an amazing color selection and amazing service. A lovely place to get gel nails. I'm a regular here and have never had a problem with a technician before. I came in this past Monday to get the usual done and was helped by an older lady. She was sweet, but I should have known it was going to be bad when she cut me. Accidents happen so I forgive her and happily moved on. Then as we went on she seemed distracted and I noticed that when she presented my nails to me, the end were all jagged and torn up. I asked her to fix them and she happily did but...... she was using what looked like an old gritty file......And now my gel has already chipped off 5 days later.....The gels usually last a week and a half for me. I didn't do anything different, just a different technician who wasn't quite skilled. I'm sad about my nails.....usually my experience is good. Took my 2 nieces ( 12 & 14) & my daughter (12) for a girls day of mani & pedis. I use to come to this place often few yrs ago prior having 2 more kids. It's not what it use to be. Tech that had my daughter was very sweet and did great. My tech was nice & we carried a nice conversation. The two techs who had my nieces acted as if they didn't want to be there or it was an inconvience. I got the basic and repeatedly told them we only wanted basic. I know they upsell to make more... and I can appreciate that but it was annoying to repeadly say no then hear them talk to each other in their language and seem to have attitude. One older woman kept over filing my nieces finger nails and cutting her cuticle making most of her fingers bleed. when asked to quit filing, she acted like she didn't understand & gave more attitude. I have been going here for pedicures for years. I have almost always been happy with my service. I recently, in the last year, started getting my facial waxes here too. Everyone who works here is nice and mostly experienced. Every once in awhile a get a newbie, but the more experienced techs usually give them reminders and keep them on track. My last visit I had an experience with a newbie, she was forgetting some steps and the experienced tech (which I've had several ti...mes before) reminded her of these steps, in non-English. The experienced tech just looked at me and shook her head, I mouthed thank you to her. It was still a very nice and pleasant experience. After being told that this was THE place to get your nails done, I was extremely disappointed to have left there with horrible nails. They were poorly done to say the least. Rushed, crooked, uneven, and on two fingers the acrylic part of the nail wasn't even glued to my natural nail (there was an elevated gap in the middle). Immediately after leaving, I looked for another salon to have them taken off and redone. Regret the amount of money I spent there but it was definitely a lesson learned. The Nailery at Olathe Point has been my go-to place for 3 years now. I usually do a pedicure (gel, regular or spa) but occasionally do fingernails too. Pedicures: I have never had a bad pedi here. I do the extra callous treatment almost every time and it is worth the extra $5 in my opinion. The ladies and men here take their time and do a good quality job. I have had many many technicians and have been pleased by all. Nails: I have had a few mani's here but not many. ... When I do them, I always get french gel manicures. Each technician shapes my nail in a different way and if I don't like it, I just ask them to do it a bit differently and they kindly shape it until I am happy. The gel stays on for a long time which means they are applying it well and not sloppy. Am always impressed with them. As for the wait, every nail place is a little sketchy with their wait times. I think it's difficult to predict and they don't want to lose business by over-estimating. You can plan ahead and schedule an appointment (which is a bit flexible, but they try to stick to the time as best they can) or you can cross your fingers and walk in. Literally the worst manicure experience I've ever had, and I get mani/pedis on a regular basis. I had a bad experience the last time I went, but decided I'd try the nailery again because I was in the area and I thought that it couldn't be that bad. The woman tech that I had treated me like I was an inconvenience to her. She kept complaining that that her wisdom teeth hurt and even said she wished she could take a shot to make it feel better and alcohols was the only thing tha...t helped. I understand if she didn't feel well, but don't go to work and give terrible manicures and customer service. She was very aggressive (I left with blood around multiple cuticles), it was rushed, the gel is bumpy, and there is polish all over my hands. I would give this place no stars if I could. I have never made a yelp review but after my experience here, I just had to. I'm not going to start about how dirty it is because anyone who would just walk through the door could see that. I'm not going into detail about what I experienced. But I will say that I had my nails soaked and then was placed in a pedicure chair. The water was blazing hot but no one came over to check like they said they would when they sat me down. 5 minutes of waiting they drained water (didn't even turn it down). They didn't ask if it was better. One minute later my chair started to make this loud obnoxious noise that sounded like it was breaking down. Literally the whole salon was looking at me like it was my fault. One lady started screaming across the salon for someone to turn it off. Finally someone came over. I had to tell her that it was empty (she didn't even see that). She filled it with blazing hot water (again). Literally my feet are still burning. So I finally had enough and asked to leave. No one would come over to get the foil off. I had to ask 4 people before someone finally came over to help me. She literally took the foil off and walked away. I go "um my feet are soaked?????" She handed me a towel and goes "here you can wipe them off." I felt like an inconvenience to the staff. They were so rude. DO NOT GO HERE. I'm so sad about giving such a poor review. My mother in law was visiting from Texas and asked about a place to get her nails done. She didn't want to go too far away from the Olathe area, so instead of sending here to my usual spot, I told her the Nailery would be a good option, since it's always pretty full. We picked her up with a bleeding finger! Her nailbed was cut too much and her finger was bleeding so much, she didn't have time to finish her manicure. We came the next day after her finger was better to finish up the manicure. I decided to get my nails polished while waiting for her, and opted for a gel manicure. I was already two layers of Shellac in when I realized that although I had mentioned and even used a image sample of the color I wanted, it was not what I had requested and that the color was not building up to my desired shade as I had initially thought.To make matters worse, the polish bubbled and smudged on the edges, and it was not placed evenly, as I can still see parts of my nail on a few fingers. Deluxe pedi chipped off after 3 days.  They use cheap low quality nail polish.  Cannot get opi gel with matching regular opi polish. Way too busy and crowded.  Price menu very confusing and doesn't clearly detail pricing for regular versus gel polish mani and pedis.   I was unknowingly up sold a deluxe pedicure because the menu is not clear.  Cost too high here for what you get. Do not recommend. I have had several pedicures here which have all been fantastic. That being said, I recently had a very poor experience that makes me not want to come back. My fiancé scheduled an appointment a month in advance for my best friend and me to get mani pedis together before he proposed last Sunday. The pedicures were fine as usual, but when it was time to get our full sets, we were sat across the salon from each other. I understand that each tech has their own station, but at other salons, I have usually been able to sit next to whoever I came with. There were open spots on either side of where each of us were sitting, and our appointment was scheduled a month in advance. One would think accommodations could be made. My full set was ok. I had to repeatedly ask the tech to file them shorter and shorter. After each attempt, she did not ask if they were short enough so I started feeling uncomfortable having to ask over and over and over again to keep going shorter. She was not very friendly and did not seem to want to please me (unfortunately did not get her name). She also kept the acrylics very thick so they had that ugly bulbous look. My friend and I both felt that our nails had been rushed and that they were just trying to get us done and out the door so they could move onto the next customers. I came back the next day to get the acrylics removed as I cannot have them in my profession. I had tried to make an appointment but they told me they didn't make appointments for just nail removal. It was not busy at all when I came. I sat in the waiting area for maybe 15 minutes and then one of the ladies took me to a station to sit but didn't tell me what was going on. There were 3 technicians sitting at their stations on their cell phones. I sat for about 10 minutes getting increasingly angry before I got up to ask why I was still waiting. One of them looked up from her phone and pointed to another tech who was doing a pedicure and said "She will do it" and that it would be 5 more minutes. The woman who removed my nails was very sweet and did an ok job although there is still a layer of acrylic on each of my nails. 2 of those 3 techs were still sitting on their cell phones when I left, so it was not like they had appointments or something to stop them from being able to remove my nails instead of me having to wait so long. It is absolutely unacceptable to me that the technicians are unprofessional enough to sit on their cell phones in a customer area while customers are waiting to be served and I will not be coming back here again. Love this place! Been coming for a few years. Always greeted with a smile and a nice "hello-what can we do for you?" I seldom have to wait for a few minutes over quoted wait time but have never felt neglected. The place is clean; massage chairs are great. I can't believe all these bad reviews... SUCKS that people only write negative reviews of places. I went to this location for the first time for a deluxe pedicure, something I love to do, because I only get to about twice a year. Rose was my technician and she was so personable and sweet. The regulars really seemed at ease and newbies like me were treated with respect. My pedicure was absolutely exceptional, and although it was close to closing time, they were completely polite to everyone, getting them in without hassle. A HUGE bonus is that the decor is LOVELY. The building kind of wraps like a kidney-bean, which adds to privacy and fun, and the Greek ionic pillars lining the wall are really classy. Even though I live in Lawrence, I will absolutely be back! I came here today to get a gell set, i walked in and was told it was a 20-30 minute wait and an hour later someone finally was able to help me. The lady that did my nails was very nice, i liked her! But she did an acrylic set instead of gels once she started i didnt stop her because i had already waited so long. Not even an hour after i left i noticed my one of my nails was scuffed up, theres air bubbles on the surface, and i can already see parts where the acrylic is going to start chipping and theyve only been done for 4 hours. Worst pedicure! I had a gift card to come here with my five-year-old. We both got pedicures on Friday. The next day, Saturday, my big toe had already chipped. By Sunday she and I were both missing at least three toes worth of polish. By Monday I only have one full toe left with polish and she only has two full toes of polish left. DO NOT COME HERE. This place is a sweat shop of Nail technicians that do not care. This was the WORST I have ever been treated by any nail salon on the KS or MO side. I walked in at 6:25pm. The lady in the front did not even greet me with a smile, just "What do you do need?  Then,  "You go, pick out color. Wait 10 minutes." The 10 minutes turned out to be 20 min and then 30 minutes. I waited and I asked the very unprofessional and rude lady, "How much longer?" She said, "You should have made appointment, you come back tomorrow??"This woman was nasty and on top of that she was talking to her customer and her employees how I should have made an appointment, while glaring at me throughout the 30 minute wait!I usually don't complain until I have been disrespected and treated badly. The bottom line is that they are too busy to provide good customer service. I looked at their reviews from others and many have experienced bad maincures, full sets, with also upselling of services, to wait time of over an hour, even when there is a set appointment. I will be warning everyone about this place. DO NOT COME HERE AND WASTE YOUR TIME...AND MONEY. I went across the street to an exceptional nail technician, Kristine. Her salon is called NAIL PERFECTION, next to First Watch and Target. She speaks clear English, professional and very sweet. All the furntiure is new and a relaxing environment. By far, the worst manicure I've ever had.  Went in on Friday because I wanted my nails to look nice for my upcoming weekend.  Cindy was the person doing my nails.  1. She kept trying to upsell services.  I didn't want gel and I didn't want a pedicure.  I just wanted a manicure.  2. They have a limited nail polish selection.  I asked 3x if they had additional colors and she said no.  So I picked one.  3. I found Cindy and she began my manicure.  By far, the worst massage I have ever received.  I have come to accept that manicure massages are pretty weak, but her hands were so dry and cracked.  It felt like sandpaper.  Not great when you are in the business of manicures.  4.  She was sloppy.  The manicure was not good.  5. To top it all off, after 2 days, the polish is basically gone.  Normally, my manicures last at least 5-7 days, this was done so poorly that it started bubbling and peeling less than 24 hours after paying $15 for crappy service and product.  Will never be back. Not sure how to feel as it has been a bit. Moved to Florida and back and location as well as management's changed from what I understand. My girl Rose is still cute and kind as ever and the other techs friendly and chatty too. The last two visits were nice, Promptly greeted and sat, problem is I've had awful chipping following my pedi. Within days the polish on two toes completely chipped off?! Ok, no biggie. I remove a sock this evening and my big toes polish completely comes off with it. Now I'm slightly pissed. I can't recall a toe polish ever chipping off this way...If you all are thinning the polish etc. Please stop! It's just now reached two the two week mark with New year's is days away and I now I've gotta squeeze in and pay for a redo. Not coming back. 1) No price sheet so I couldn't compare what I was told with what I received and paid for. 2) It felt like a bar and grill in there with all the employees yelling loudly and joking continually in English as well as their language. Tbh at ANY nail shop your going to get conversations you don't understand but this was on another level - borderline rude. 3) Callus remover is $5...really? 4) The young kid there was jogging in flip flops around the nail shop, having full blown convos wit his mom directly next to me, then proceeded to drive a rolling chair around the shop....nice. 5) Lindsey did my pedi and it was kind of weak! The regular (I'm told ....cuz there's no physical price sheet) is $27, the deluxe is $37, and the infamous callus remover is $5 extra - I don't feel like it was worth it. My wife talked me into getting a pedicure for the first time.  The place was clean and the hygiene seemed good.  However, sitting next to her and seeing how thorough they were with her pedicure (pre paint) I realized that the lady with mine was far sub par.    She started 10 minutes after my wife started and finished at the same time.  She spent most of the time turned around talking to her co workers.  For the price, I couldn't be more disappointed.  I would give them less stars, but my wife had a good experience. Sooooo This was not my first time here. I would say your service quality will depend on your technician. I made an appointment for 3pm. I come back at 2:50 to check in and waited another 30 minutes for them to set me in a chair for a pedi. More as this progresses. Bottom line I probably wouldn't bother making an appointment at this place. It doesn't seem to matter ... I actually can't remember a time I have given 1 star but I left an outing with friends to make this appointment timely and waiting 30 minutes wasted a fair amount of time I could have spent with friends. 40 minutes of waiting for someone to even start my services .... Make sure you bring a book, a long one or maybe a blanket to quilt/ knit..... Sigh...Just hit a total of 1 hour waiting when I had an appointment - tick tock - can I take away the 1 star? Read Less

I'm only giving this place 2 stars because my pedicure wasn't terrible. I went in for a pedicure and gel manicure. Like I said, the pedicure was fine, although I've had much better. However, the manicure was terrible! First of all, the manicurist reeked of cigarette smoke. He was sloppy and unprofessional. Secondly, he BUTCHERED my cuticles. I think I had at least 6 fingers bleeding by the time he was done. I could have saved myself $50 and done a better job myself. I'm only giving one star because it's required by Yelp. This place deserves NO STARS. Service is awful, people are awful - it's a horrible place. I mean, if you like being treated like crap, then be my guest! Hahaha! Otherwise, don't even waste your time!  I gave that place a second chance after a tech screwed up my fill.  I figured,  I'd just ask for a different tech and be fine. No, just no. Never again!I went in for a take-off and and new set on a Wednesday.  The tech sat me down at 5:16pm. She told me to soak my fingers for the takeoff. 30 minutes LATER,  I had no help; I was the only customer sitting there with no help. I could understand if they were super busy but they were NOT! There were some techs just chatting and hanging out! And even if they were super busy,  customer service means that you check in with the customer letting them know how long of a wait to expect!  The tech that seated me, was working on someone else!  I asked the tech in the next seat how long I was supposed to be "soaking" and she said she wasn't sure...WTF?!?! I was beyond over it and ready to go to. Another tech came over and says she'll take care of me...ummm, no! I'm leaving; they were not getting a dime out of me!  I asked for the manager (who was nice). I told her I'd been sitting for over half an hour with no service and the tech who seated me, had moved in to someone else. I asked if I owed anything for the "soaking" -- I'm not trying to be on the 10:00 news for their inadequacies-- she told me no. So I left and went across the street to B.B. Nails. They (B.B. Nails) were amazing!  They saw I was upset and flustered and calmed me down. And my nails are amazeballs!  DON'T WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME OR MONEY WITH THE NAILERY! THEY DO NOT VALUE EITHER! I would recommend going to Mimi, Rose, or Tammy.  I've gone to all of them on several occasions and they are great at their jobs! I have had many ho-hum pedis at other places and I keep coming back to The Nailery. Quite a few times I have gotten other decorations on my toes and they are all great artists! I came with a friend on Sunday while visiting from out of town and we both got a full set and a pedicure done. The staff was great, very friendly and we got in right away without an appointment. They're very clean and well organized but the quality of the work left a lot to be desired. The pedicure seemed a little over priced for what you got, and as far as my set not all of my nails came out to be the same length and width and one is even a little crooked. Some of my tips are considerably thicker than the others, more than a few of them looked like they'd been on for a week or more (like they were going to need a fill sooner rather than later), and almost every nail has a lot of tiny air bubbles. I've barely had them three weeks and already one is almost ready to fall off. While I had a good time with my friend and the staff were all very friendly the quality of their work was pretty poor.
