DO NOT COME HERE FOR HAIRCUTS AND COLOR at least with a level one stylist. Worst experience ever!!!! I asked for a certain hairstyle and color, spent all day there and got something no where near what I asked. I was charged over 200 and was not even close to satisfied. I was looking forward to a shellac manicure but was very disappointed with the outcome. I thought the shellac manicure would include all of the features of a manicure but it didn't. Today was "okay" which is upsetting because my husband paid so much. I enjoyed getting my nails done but wasn't told that the shellac would be more, and was told that I needed to pay at the end of my session. My husband spent a pretty decent amount for a hot stone massage, which I didn't receive and the woman didn't even know because I was booked wrong. I have known the owner Stacy for several years! She is an AMAZING artist!! I don't trust anyone but her to do my hair. I usually tell her to do whatever she wants with my hair because I trust her 200%. Shear Dynamics is filled with talent and its a beautiful place. I am excited to get other services done soon! I've been coming here for years and have always left happy for the most part. I usually get a hair cut and my eyebrows waxed, I've gotten updos and lip waxes too - so I've tried a variety of their services.My last visit, I got a haircut and an eyebrow wax. The same girl did both for me - she was so friendly and nice. My haircut went well, she did exactly what I asked - just got an inch off or so and some layers - so I was very happy with that. I will say however, my eyebrows were pretty uneven. When she originally handed me the mirror to look at them, I asked to get a little more taken off - and then when she gave me the mirror the second time, I'm not sure if it was because my eyebrows were red from the waxing or what, but I didn't notice a huge difference... until I got home and noticed that they were very different. So I had to end up plucking a lot myself when I got home. I know the ownership has changed hands sometime within the last year or two - and I'm not sure if that has something to do with it or not. Prior to this visit, I hadn't been in a year. I will say it seemed better priced than before, but I've usually had better experiences with my eyebrow waxing than this last time. Read Less

I can't speak for the salon services, however their massages are wonderful! I have seen many of the therapists and have never been disappointed. Today I saw the amazing Andi for 90 minute massage and some much needed stress relief! I can honestly say that it was one of the most relaxing, and better massages that I've had (and as a massage therapist myself I'm pretty picky)! Denise is pretty amazing as well! Seriously have never been disappointed with any of the spa service...s here! (And Like I said as an LMT/Esthetician/MUA I'm pretty picky!) Krisanne is easily the best stylist I've ever worked with! She does a great job suggesting slight changes when I'm feeling something a little different but knows me and my style and is always true to that first. The L'anza products they use are all wonderful and do great things for my hair. Krisanne is always able to suggest just what I need for my hair type and the products, while more expensive, really do what they say they do and last a long time. All the staff are friendly and helpful - it's like going to get your hair done with a bunch of friends! Can't say enough good things about Krisanne and Shear Dynamics! Read Less

Had a massage last week with Renata. It was an hour and a half of bliss. I'm pretty sure she put me to sleep as I caught myself snoring. Sorry about that--but after the stressful two months I've had it was so amazing that she could get me to relax that much. She has a firm, but not heavy touch and worked out regular kinks while also addressing some therapeutic issues with sciatica. Great job, Renata! Read Less

It takes forever to grow my hair and I asked for a haircut that would still leave a lot of length. I even showed a picture of the cut I wanted. I did not get the cut I asked for, it is really choppy, uneven, and due to the HORRIBLE layers she put in, which the haircut does not ask for, my thin hair now looks trashy. I have a conference next week and am really disappointed. Do people here just not know how to cut hair? I only have one more place I can try but it will take me a while before I set foot in a salon again. Read Less

As a military spouse I am used to having to frequently change stylists. So I am pretty understandable. However, when I arrived for my color and cut, I did not receive any of the services I requested.... correctly, anyway. I asked for brown coloring similar to what it was naturally and cut to clean up the split ends (not even a new style). I left with red, very red, hair that was cut unevenly and still remained with split ends. Not to mention the bangs that were supposed to be long, were cut to my eyebrows with one snip of the scissors. The stylist put 4, let me repeat that, 4 layers of color on my hair. When I started questioning in the 2nd layer of color, she didn't skip a beat. I'll be lucky if it doesn't all fall out. When I spoke with salon manager, her response was simply to have a consultation with my stylist to discuss what could be done better next time. Next time. Ah, no ma'am. So, 3 hours and $175 later, I will happily recommend you go elsewhere for your services. The hair services provided, customer service, and rescue (attempt) were all unacceptable. Read Less

I've only ever had waxing done at this spa, but have never been disappointed.  Pricing is on par with any other decent waxing place and the wax they use is very skin-friendly from eyebrows to a brazilian.  The interior of the building they're in could use some renovation, that's my only negative. So maybe the beach by Lake Michigan in Chicago is not a real beach, but the beachgoers take their beachgoing seriously, hence spas offering amazing wax jobs are aplenty. Nothing could be said of this place. I doubt the person giving me the wax job had ever been to any beach; otherwise, she would've taken her job even more seriously. The hot pan used was disgusting. The towels felt like the kind you'd probably find at a cheap motel. I think I was just not lucky enough to be 'helped' by an awful staff even though she was supposedly highly recommended. I wish I had remembered her name. Sure, she smiled when she walked into the room, but as soon as she started working, I knew I had made the biggest mistake.
