my friends and I had an appoint today for manicures at four o’clock. we were running late, so we called ahead and said we would be about ten minutes late. when we showed up around four fifteen, they refused our service. they were incredibly rude. the women rolled there eyes, looked at us with disgust, and spoke in a tone I would never use in my life. they told us they were too busy to give us the manicures we came for, even though there was no one in there other than employees. I do not recommend coming here ever, but if you do, i guess you can’t come five/ten minutes late. Read Less

My daughter and I went for manicures at the Leawood location. Love the atmosphere. It's bright, clean and relaxing. The women who did our nails did a excellent job and 5 days later both of are manicures still look fantastic. This will be our salon of choice from now on. Read Less

It's priced higher than most salons, so I expected a quality experience, but the quality of service and quality of the mani/pedi itself was worth half of what I would usually pay, if that (I paid $150 for both). The front desk staff is unwelcoming and rude. My manicure smudged within a hour of leaving the salon (I asked if we should sit under dryers and was told we didn't need to since they used fast drying spray and was careful upon leaving not to touch anything). My nails s…tarted chipping two days later, without me doing anything labor intensive with my hands. Usual manicures last two weeks, this one lasted shorter than had I done it myself at home. I called the salon to see if they would fix it, and the front desk person who answered the phone was anything but friendly. They offered a 20% discount on (an inflated priced) polish change and that's it. In addition, I wasn't offered water, tea or any extra pampering that I would hope for when paying a pretty penny for a salon service. Lastly, the girls who did our services chimed in on the conversation we were having, which wasn't a huge deal in and of itself, but given everything else, felt a bit unprofessional. I normally don't write reviews, but my experience at Hoopla on Saturday was exceptionally bad. I had been excited to try Hoopla out since it had good reviews and is nearby my house, but I left feeling like I had my time wasted and had been ripped off. I came in to get a manicure late Saturday morning just before 11:30 am. I had acrylics on and wanted them removed and to get a regular manicure. The receptionist checked with the nail technicians in the back to see if they could take the acrylics off since they don't put them on there. They said they could take them off and that it would take 30 minutes and $10 for the acrylic remover. The manicure was to be an additional 30 minutes and $24. My dog had an appointment at the groomer at 1 pm so I thought the timing would work out perfect. The technician started soaking my nails in acetone and told me it would be a "process" to get them off. I thought "Okay, whatever that means..." She would come check on them and remind me that it was a "process".. An hour and 15 minutes later into the "process" the acrylics still weren't off. I told the technician, that we needed to wrap it up (no time for manicure) because I had to go get my dog for his grooming appointment. It was going so slow that I ended up calling my husband to have him take the dog to his appointment. I was irritated that the process of taking the acrylics had taken three times the amount I was told, caused me to have to ask my husband to change his plans and unecessarily wasted an hour of my time when I could have had it done quickly elsewhere. Had I known that Hoopla didn't have the tools to effectively and efficiently do the job of taking off the acrylics, I would have gone to a different salon (with a drill, that regularly works with acrylics) and had them taken off; I would have come back to get a manicure, that day or at a later time. I went to the counter to pay and the receptionist went back and consulted with another nail technician. When the receptionist returned, she told me it would be $30 (after she had initially told me $10) because it was "$10 for each 30 minutes". I refused to pay $30 because that's not what I was told up front and it's their own fault it took so much time because they offered the service without having the proper tools to do the job. I only had $20 bills on me, but if I would have had $10, it is all I would have paid. I wanted/needed to leave and when they started a meeting of the minds (three people) to figure out how much I should be charged, I decided I had had enough. I gave them $20 and walked out. Hoopla should not offer services which the salon is not well-equipped to do because it makes Hoopla look like amateur nail professionals and predatory of their customers. I'm writing this yelp review after sending a personal comment via Hoopla's website with no response. I, too, wanted to love it--close to my home and able to make appointments through the awesome app. Unfortunately, after several (4-5) mani-pedis, the quality is subpar. The polish chips within the first week. While I appreciate offers to return for repairs, I don't have time after spending hours for the original. Perhaps you don't use certain chemicals--but I need my mani-pedi to last for 2 weeks. Read Less

Tried this place for the first time today--it's a beautiful, modern looking salon. Everything is very clean and the customer service is great. Kellin did my pedicure and I thought she did an excellent job. I also really appreciated that they use "5-free" nail polish (nail polish that doesn't contain 5 of the nasty chemicals found in most polishes). My one complaint about this place is just the seating situation. Most salons have those captain-style/bucket chairs that have the massage options on them. The seating at Hoopla is very pretty but not very comfortable (especially when you're 8 months pregnant like I am right now). Seating at Hoopla consists of one long, padded bench with multiple pedicure stations that runs the length of the wall. They do provide back pillows, but it's still not the same as having a comfortable massage chair with more back support. Hoopla is also probably a bit pricier than some salons, BUT you're paying for higher quality nail polish and service. All in all, I am pretty satisfied and would come back to this place. Read Less

I have been a Hoopla patron for years, so I was excited when they opened Leawood because I sometimes work out that way. I have always had great customer service, and they are hands down the cleanest salon in town. Hoopla maintains the highest standard for cleanliness which I think is so important when it comes to pedicures, waxing, facials, etc. I love their jelly pedi, and I have done eyelash extensions as well with them! They are affordable and great quality. Their custom hoopla nail colors and service add ons make it a unique and luxurious experience! Definitely a favorite spot in KC. Read Less

Hoopla is the best salon I have ever visited. I go there now on a regular basis and when family and friends are in town, it is always a must stop for a girls treat day - and everyone always leaves happy! We have so much fun! Hoopla employees have the best customer service. You are always greeted by name and they treat you like a queen. The salon itself is extremely clean - wonderful atmosphere and the mani/ pedi's  are perfection. My favorite add-on is the minty mask; my feet and toes feels so good and tingle for hours afterwards.  The express mani or pedi is also perfect if you don't have much time. I decided to try out HOOPLA - I thought it was beautiful when I walked inAs my pedi started I noticed the technician  pushed back my cuticles really good - well then she didn't really cut them all! Extremely clean & bright atmosphere. They don't just sanitize their tools they one step further and sterilize them as well! They always open clean sterilized tools in front of you! Definitely worth the price you pay knowing you're getting a nice clean service. Callous remover is even included in the pedicure! You don't have to pay extra! It's not just the regular callus treatment where they use the pumice stone they use the gel, let it sit and file all the dead skin off! The girls are very friendly. I highly recommend Hoopla! Went in for a pedicure today. Nail tech was very sweet & did a good job. I was very disappointed in pedicure seating. It was very uncomfortable. Tubs & ledge were not adjustable & I am tall so my legs were in a wierd position. No room to lift my feet in & out of water. No massage chairs just rather hard bench seating. I frequently take clients here and they love the concept: clean and contemporary decor, no jets harboring bacteria, no harsh chemicals and a complimentary mini polish to boot! I absolutely loved my visit to Hoopla. Bright and clean, we were welcomed in without appointments and were able to get in right away. Bobbie did a beautiful job with my brows and was lovely to talk to. My nail tech (who never introduced herself) performed a gentle manicure finishing with a gorgeous Shellac shade (Dark Lava). I went to Hoopla today for the first time and I can tell you that I will be driving from Olathe to Fairway for my pedicures from now on. I adore the concept and loved bringing my polish home with me.
