I've been going to this nail salon for years ! It's very clean and the owner always does my cuticles 3-4 times.  I work with my hands and wash my hand a lot!  So it's nice to go where they take their time to do it right!  I love the pedicures too I feel like I have new feet when they are done!  They also massage your feet and hands so it's very relaxing.  I also like that they talk to me I feel like family here! I was so disappointed with my service. First off, I was told it would be a 30 minute wait which turned in to an hour and fifteen minutes. I didn't mind, as this place had previously gotten good reviews. The place was grungy and dirty. The color I chose for my shellac was 080, and appeared to be a pastel pink in the sample. I wanted a pedicure and manicure. The pedicure turned out to be a fluorescent pink!! They told me their samples were old and the colors faded.... it would have been great to know that before. When they moved on to my shellac manicure, their shellac was acting up and the base would not even stay on. The woman tried to fix the color of my pedicure and nicked the nail with her hand, looked at it, and didn't bother to fix it! I absolutely love it when a nail artist is a completely honest with me. I live in Stilwell, so to drive 35 - 40 minutes to get a pedicure is a big deal to me.  Tran is the best ever, bar none!  I've been going now for a couple of years and he is so accommodating.  Sometimes I make a reservation and sometimes I walk in.  My feet are always rough from working in the garden and he won't let me leave until they are baby soft.  Maria almost always picks the color out for me, which makes it fun!  She coordinates with what I'm wearing, since I'm usually going out right afterwards.  Lovely people, excellent service, soothing music...half the time, I fall asleep in the chair!  Can't recommend this place enough. A facebook friend turned me onto this place over a year ago. Even though they're a 35 minute drive from my house, this is my go-to spot for the best pedicure in town. The gentleman who does my feet uses a pumice stone and my heels are completely smooth when I leave. I always ask them to pick out the color, as it's a surprise each time. Normally very nice, but were very unfriendly and rude today. They switched people partially through the process, and then got mad that they started doing the wrong thing because they didn't know what I wanted. Instead of soaking the acrylic off, they shoved plastic under it and ripped them off. It was very painful and destroyed my nail surface. When I went to pay, they charged me an extra $5 ? Maria and her husband are super sweet. I was a walk-in for a shellac manicure and her husband started me right away, and then he transitioned me to Maria. She is super warm and friendly and I got to know quite a bit about her. Their music playing was great, and she told me that she specifically chooses relaxing music so that her clients feel relaxed and happy. She said that when they are happy with their nails, it makes her happy and is the reason she does what she does.Comparatively, Rainbow Nails has been the cheapest place in this part of town for a shellac manicure, which Maria and her husband perfected! I hate writing bad reviews, but I'm new to Kansas City and appreciate constructive criticism as an avid yelp user.  Maria and her husband Tran are very sweet. But, when I'm paying $60 + for my nails, I have high expectations. The actual pedicure was nice. Tran started my pedicure, and Maria finished it. She completely rushed painting my nails, which I didn't notice till after my gel manicure. Maria also did my gel manicure, and I felt she rushed through the whole process, again. I had to ask her to make my nails on both hands to be the same shape/size. She's been doing nails for over 20+ years( I asked her), she should know. I haven't had fake nails in over 8 years and broke a pinky nail. She didn't even file down the nail before she put the fake one on, so I can see her lousy work as my nail grows in. New favorite place for pedicures! I got the deluxe pedicure. It was just so wonderful. I have been looking and looking but other places are too delicate with filing your heels, or don't trim the cuticles enough, or don't give a good scrub, or don't give a good massage. I have been coming to Rainbow nails for a couple of months now, and have left happy every single time. I always get the gel manicure and regular pedicure.First of all, the inside is fun and bright - bright pink walls with zebra print chairs, with some colorful flowers/plants scattered around. It is always very clean when I come in. Sometimes when I come in, they are listening to music - yesterday when I came in, they were watching Madagascar on the big TV. One of my favorite movies. Second, it is important to know that there are are only 3 employees that work here - a husband and a wife, and then another woman who does more of the clean up and preparation. I have somehow been very lucky and have gotten in almost immediately every time I have walked in, but I STRONGLY suggest calling first - they can only really help two to three people at a time. They have a lot of stations for doing nails and pedicures, so I asked the wife one time if they were looking to hire more. She said ideally, yes - but she doesn't want to hire on a lot of people just so they can take more clients, but have the quality sacrificed. The most important thing to her is that her clients leave happy with the services they have received. Now that is something I can get behind 100%.Third, it is very affordable and the finished product always turns out great. I used to go downtown to get my nails done, but found Rainbow was less expensive and they did a better job - so of course I switched salons! They spend a lot more time massaging and exfoliating your calves and feet for the pedicures - something I am a huge fan of (who wouldn't be?).  I'm confident my toes and finger nails could make it through a zombie apocalypse after visiting this place. Hands down, the best nail salon in the city... and I've been to almost every one (I kid you not). Here's the deal, I've never had my tips last as long as they do when the owner of Rainbow does my set/fill. She explained it's something about the shape of my nail and by understanding that, she can shape them to not lift... I don't exactly understand the logic, but who cares - I'm just glad she does! Moreover, the owners actually CARE about their work... I mean, what a crazy concept, right!? She takes pride in her work and it shows. Lastly, she has the best UV lights in the city - I never fear that my gel with lift when she does my nails... Unlike just about every other nail shop in town that are running certified sweat shops with burnt out bulbs - Just saying... Basically, I'm a busy professional that needs my nails to last. Loved this salon and the workers!! I decided to take my mom to get a pedi as a late Mother's Day gift while she's visiting for graduation :) I chose this salon as it had great reviews and wouldn't break the bank...so happy with my choice, I would go here again and again!!The pedi was perfect: expert grooming, great foot/calf massage, pretty polish. She tidied up my runner's feet and made them pretty and soft! Needless to say, that's a victory unto its own. Also, the massage chairs were a dream!! We joked about taking them with us. This is the best nail shop in town.. Until now I've had a very uncomfortable love with having my nails done and was ready to give up. My sister took me here in hopes of falling into nail heaven and I did! The salon in very clean and girly, the two owners kinda double teamed our nails and gave us exactly what I had been dreaming of! After my sisters nails turned out perfect I gave creative control of my hands to the experts.. I love stiletto's but work with my hands and need t...hem short but still with edge. I always stick with black, white or some bold colour but was opened to anything and got a cute lemon lime heart with silver linings.. WOW! I was in love! A week later at a Mardi Gras party I looked up and my nails were even glow in the dark / black light responsive!!! Pretty much blew my mind.. It was like having tiny lights for nails..
