I am a positive person and usually let things roll off, but this was a terrible experience all around. I took my sister here for a birthday mani/pedi and because it's priced higher than most salons, I expected a better experience. The quality of service and quality of the mani/pedi itself was worth half of what I would usually pay, if that (I paid $150 for both). First of all, upon arriving, the front desk staff was cold and unwelcoming. My manicure smudged within a hour of leaving the salon (I asked if we should sit under dryers and was told we didn't need to since they used fast drying spray and was careful upon leaving not to touch anything). My nails started chipping two days later, without me doing anything labor intensive with my hands. Usual manicures last two weeks, this one lasted shorter than had I done it myself at home. I called the salon to see if they would fix it, and the front desk person who answered the phone was anything but friendly. They offered a 20% discount on (an inflated priced) polish change and that's it. In addition, I wasn't offered water, tea or any extra pampering that I would hope for when paying a pretty penny for a salon service. Lastly, the girls who did our services chimed in on the conversation we were having, which wasn't a huge deal in and of itself, but given everything else, felt a bit unprofessional. Just went to Hoopla for the first time after living in the neighborhood and thinking this place looked so cute. Totally lived up to it! I had a brow wax and tint and it looks awesome. Definitely making this place my regular. Read Less

I did not have a great first experience at Hoopla. I had my toes painted for a wedding on the beach and by the time I got to the beach it was peeling and wrinkled as if the polish had been old. I had to find a place in Florida to fix them before the wedding. For the price I expected them to last for at least a few weeks. Read Less

So disappointed to write this but after years of nearly weekly trips to Hoopla Fairway, I'm going to look for another nail provider. I got my nails done with regular nail polish on Friday and by Saturday and Sunday my nails we're peeling and looked awful. When I called the shop they said they only guarantee Shellac nail polish. When I asked to speak with the Manager the reply was that she only communicates through email and not in person. This is not the kind of customer service I've come to expect at Hoopla. Hoopla is fine. I'm conflicted on this rating, but I just can't bring myself to reward more than 3 stars. Pros: Great location in Fairway, plenty of skincare items for sale, and a variety Hoopla polish colors to choose from. They let you take home the full-size nail files that they use on your nails at the end of the appointment - bonus points for cleanliness. I also appreciated the ease of making an appointment with their online booking system. Cons: Not all of the manicure stations were stocked with the necessities. There was a woman sitting next to us that had to wait for her gel manicure because all of the UV lamps were in use (there were 4 of us at the manicure bar). It was also quite expensive - We each paid upwards of $50 for a simple shellac manicure. There are many other nail salons in KC where you can get more bang for your buck - our nails began chipping two days later. I might be back to Hoopla, but then again I might not. Read Less

Awesome place to get any service! Cute neighborhood. Gorgeous and relaxing interior. All white, very friendly staff. Very clean which is important in a spa! So many nail spas are filthy. They sell great products. I made a last minute appointment on a Friday afternoon. They were able to fit me in, I realized when I was there they do waxes so I was able to squeeze in a little later to get a wax. Very happy with my results. Very fair pricing. I am from Chicago and spas in Kansas City seem to be way more expensive for some reason... I've finally found a place I really like! Read Less

Went in for a pedicure today. Nail tech was very sweet & did a good job. I was very disappointed in pedicure seating. It was very uncomfortable. Tubs & ledge were not adjustable & I am tall so my legs were in a wierd position. No room to lift my feet in & out of water. No massage chairs just rather hard bench seating. The pedicures here are top notch but you will pay more for one. The tools are all sanitized before each client, you get to keep your polish for touch ups and the extra TLC for your feet/legs from the service provider are definitely a great reason to spend a little more. If you can spare another 15 minutes, be sure to have a chair massage from Rebekah. She'll let you melt away and disappear within seconds of placing your face in the cradle. I cannot imagine a better way to let your toes dry!Be aware that this is not a "chop shop" walk in nail place. It is more upscale and they do pay more attention to detail (and cleanliness) than your neighborhood nail salon. Read Less
