The ladies are friendly. I got a pedicure shellac which was great. But I got my hands done with acryllic gel and they were not careful making sure the color was completely covering the whole nail or it went over to my cuticle which will make polish peel faster. I paid $89 plus $15 tip ( yes I did tip a little high if I wasn't satisfied but I just can't do that to someone to their face) i will upload some pics to demonstrate what to watch out for. I have gone here a few times because it is close to my house, but after my last experience I will not go back.  I like to go here because they have the kiddo chairs for pedis and I have a 6 year old that likes to get the occasional pedi.  However, I have gone for my own pedis the last few months and have been disappointed.  They barely spend 15 minutes on my feet and the polish hasn't even lasted one week.  The last pedi I got was on mother's day.  I really wanted to give them one last try and treat myself.  It wasn't a treat.  The lady that helped me spent very little time on my feet, she left me in the chair when she was done without saying a word to me, and five days later my polish was coming off.  I will not be back! This is my go to place for fake nails. They do amazing and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays their full sets are only $20. I would encourage you to ignore that bad review, nobody can get nails completely even! And besides having them even doesn't even matter! You can easily fix any mistakes when you get home if they are uneven. Use a filer or clipperd (not a good idea but go ahead) I have been going to Cali Nails since i was a BABY because my mom always brought me with her. So whenever Tina or her mother are there they always day "I remember when you were just around 3 feet tall!" They are very caring and fo their best on your nails. DO NOT waste your money here.I had frequented Four Seasons nail salon a few times for a gel manicure and pedicure, and had been mostly pleased with the results (but not blown away).  For almost $75 out the door, it just didn't compare to the flawless manicures from my old nail salon in San Diego.  So, I decided to try a few other Des Moines locations - Cali nails was first up simply due to its very convenient location right next to Target.*** Before I go into the details, I will caveat that I have VERY short nails, which I'm sure is a challenge for any manicurist ***I walked in the door with no appointment, which was totally fine considering there was only one other person in the salon (a nail salon that wasn't busy on a Saturday afternoon?!? Red flag #1). To spare you a lengthy rant, I'll include the key points in a list format below:Color selection was poor, and every one I opened looked crusty and old.The TV was on so loud, I felt like I was in someone's living room.The spa chair cushions were terrible - my butt fell asleep after just a few minutes. My manicurist didn't speak English... Like, at all. I had to ask her to use the callus removing scrub on my feet, and to push back the cuticles on my fingernails (due to the point above, another lady had to translate for her).She didn't use cuticle remover for my manicure - just a little water and alcohol. NO SUNSCREEN on my hands before putting them under UV lights - this is a big one for me.  I could literally smell my skin crying for help.That, and the attached picture pretty much sum up why I would NEVER go to this place again.
