I first off want to state that I am writing this review about the business and its owner, NOT about the therapists and professionals that work there. I truly believe that those whom I have encountered there are good, hardworking people that have been caught up in a web of lies and deceit. These professionals are promised good pay, super flexible hours, advanced training, and a laid back fun atmosphere... which in the spa industry would be an ideal job. HOWEVER, once in the door, it is a nightmare. At first glance, the spa itself is not so bad. Its quaint, nothing special, but seems to have potential. The name states ORGANIC, and the owner prides herself in the fact that she is a chemist who discovered how to make her own products at home. As stated in the previous post, it is not. In fact, the products come from a private label botanical skincare line that anyone can purchase. And they are most definitely NOT organic. The makeup is also purchased by a wholesaler. As an esthetician, your job is to know your products and their ingredients to formulate the best treatment plan. That task is really hard to do when the ingredients and treatment protocals are purposefully withheld by the owner so that you can't let out her little secret. Some of the skincare products that are used are disgusting and unsanitary (such as the old disgusting mud used for masks). The water that the entire spa uses comes out of the public bathroom sink. There are no sterilizers or sanitizing procedures. Professionals are forced to perform services that are not within their scope of practice. Beatrice performs services herself, such as Lash extensions and facials, however I have not been able to find her name under any professional license, meaning that she CANNOT legally perform such services. It is my opinion that the general public is at risk by going to this spa, whether it be by infection from the lack of sanitation or being cheated out of your money. And the professionals that are roped in to working there are at risk of messing up their career by being associated with this facility. Beatrice also makes it a point to announce that she only likes to hire therapists right out of school so she can train them how she wants (knowing that the reason is she believes they are too naive to speak up when she is being decieving), so please please PLEASE steer clear of her recent graduates!!! This woman is a liar, a thief, and will avoid any responsibility for the mess she makes with her paying customers and her staff. Customers, do not be fooled by cheap groupon deals with the complimentary boxed wine and promises of a luxury spa experience... that is certainly not what you are going to get. Read Less

First I want to say that my review is coming from first hand experience and is all completely true. I felt the need to share this anonymously in hopes of preventing all who read this to steer clear of this place because there are multiple things wrong here that will eventually get the owner in legal trouble. I'm not even sure if this is a licensed salon or not, but they follow absolutely no sanitation methods, or clean whatsoever. If this place is ever inspected they would get in huge trouble. The towels are all completely stained and dirty, not to mention they wash the hair towels with the facial towels and then use foul smelling mildew towels on people's faces. They also can't keep up with laundry and don't have enough available to get through a day, since there is no washer/dryer in the place. For example, one time they ran completely out of "clean" towels for the day so a cosmetologist had to use a dirty towel on someone's hair!! There is only one sink in this entire place and it's in the bathroom. So the employees constantly have to wait to fill up water bowls for facials, or wash dishes in the bathroom and so on...The jars of product displayed in front are all expired. I opened up a scrub once just to smell it, it not only smelled rotten but it looked like someone dug half of it out already with their hand. Not only that but this place claims to be all "organic" and they don't sell a single product that's actually organic if you check ingredients. Nor is it actually made locally from the owner. She claims she went to school to be a chemist but mysteriously has no degree..and if she did she wouldn't have to work at Wells Fargo to afford paying her employees she rips off each and every paycheck. She buys these products wholesale online and then slaps her own logo onto them and marks up the prices for resale. First off, they're not an official reseller for ANY of these manufacturers, but she's taking off their logos and selling them as her own product. Google the name of ANY skincare product on their shelves and you will find out yourself. Also the perfumes are almost the same way, except it's high quality brands..for example it'll say it's Gucci "Guilty" perfume but put in entirely different bottles with her logo sticker slapped on the front of all of these. The owner cannot keep her employees for more than a week, so if you have an interview with her and she hires you on the spot, beware. It IS too good to be true because she is constantly desperate for people stupid enough to work for her so she hires everyone on the spot. In the interview she is very deceiving and basically makes you believe she'll give you all the training and the tools you need to be successful there. Not the case whatsoever. On one of a former employee's first day on the job she was thrown into services she had not been trained to do, nor was she familiar with any products, so she had no idea what she was doing the whole time and basically had to wing it all. She also was thrown into doing services she was not licensed or knew how to do but was forced to do them anyway alongside her boss who is also not licensed to do any services. Before they had any real nail techs working there, the manis/pedis were performed in extremely unsanitary ways also. Mostly all of the employees there had to bring in their own equipment/products because of the owners refusal/cannot afford to give them the tools they need. Their booking procedures are always completely screwed up, there have been clients waiting for over an hour on multiple occasions because the owner does not know how to run her own business. The walls are paper thin, you can hear every footstep, the phone ring, and voices/employees fighting all throughout your service so don't expect it to be relaxing or clean. All of the furniture looks like they got it from a garage sale or dumpster...and the back office looks like a scene from hoarders. it is easily the most ghetto, run down disaster of a salon/spa I have ever seen. Minerals by Bee doesn't even deserve 1 star. The owner is a JOKE and this business will not stay in business if there aren't major changes! This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a company, especially one that promotes relaxation. My sister n law and I purchased a spa day for two off Groupon. That was our number one mistake. Since we had already paid, and Beatice had our money plus it was at a discounted rate, we were not given any respect. We went in at our scheduled time. After our massage, the receptionist tells us we have to reschedule our spa day because their nail tech (they only have 2 so don't plan on going with a big party) "couldn't get out of his driveway." Now that right there is weird...how can one be blocked in with out any prior knowledge...? Well, I am not from Des Moines, so rescheduling wasn't as easy for me. We ended up scheduling it for another month out. Since their computers were down, when we had to reschedule, the receptionist couldn't put us in the calendar for that day. When I did finally get the confirmation email the times were wrong. I called back and spoke with the receptionist. Very rudely she told me nothing could be done. In fact we should plan to be even later because of a party before us. I was already annoyed since I had to come back just for this appointment. I asked for the manager to call me back. Never heard back, so I called a couple days later. There I spoke with the owner Beatice. When talking with her I found out that our spa day for two wasn't even scheduled together because they didn't have the staff to provide the services simultaneously. Instead of contacting us and letting us know they just assumed I would want to have the services done by ourselves. I expressed my annoyance and frustration with her unorganized and unprofessional staff and company. She asked me to call her back, once I talked to my sister n law. That was over a week ago and I have yet to hear from her. This company should not be in business. I feel they cheat you out of your money and have absolutely no tack or class what so ever.
