Going down hill.  Used to be the perfect nail studio.  Not sure what happened. Same owners, young couple. Owners speak English and are able to communicate. Minimal staff, obviously due to more and more lack of customers walking in.  Equipment extremely dated, right out dangerous, simply yukky.  Location has become more questionable due to some recent crimes nearby. This is the best nail salon in CR! I've been going to them since I was in high school - almost 20 years!!! - and they've always done an amazing job. My nails look amazing & I recommend them to everyone who says they need their nails done. The price is a little more than other salons, but you paying for a higher quality of service. Super clean and very nice furniture that I could definitely sit and relax on for hours. Also I like to sit on the comfortable couches watching Cartoon Network with the random employees. I was really looking forward to a relaxing day spent catching up with a friend while getting our nails done. While the service was friendly, accommodating, and pleasant, the longevity of the polish was not impressive. First of all, we both paid $39 for a basic mani/pedi. BASIC. No designs, no acrylics, no shellac, no gel, no nothing. They were basic drugstore polishes that would have cost me a fraction of the cost at Walmart. The colors were beautiful, however I don't believe that it should have cost $39 for the services, not including a tip. Last time I got a manicure at Golden Nails it cost me $12, not $20. While I do realize that part of the price includes the service provided (exfoliating the skin, applying lotion, massages), I did not think that the price should have been that high considering it was a basic manicure and the workers appeared to be working as fast as they could (even though we were the only customers there). Second of all, the polish did not last more than 5 hours after leaving the salon. Everything was done properly; we let our nails dry completely before doing anything. Nothing was smudged or done half way. But after a few hours passed by (might I add we weren't doing anything that would ruin a manicure), our nails were both severely chipped around the edges, with my friends' polish completely falling off of her entire nail. This is completely unacceptable considering the fact that we paid for a manicure to flake off in less than 24 hours. Next time I will save myself some money and just do my nails myself considering it would probably look the same than having them "professionally" done at this salon. Read Less

I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE THIS BAD BEFORE! I had gone here to get my nails and toes done for prom. At first everyone was really nice to me and I noticed everything was clean and taken care of. I asked the prices of the things I was getting and they did a great job after! But....when I went to pay the man told me it was $60 more!!!!!! I told him what I got and he said "yes that's the price." I told him that I asked a worker the price before and they told me another one. You know what he did then... He started saying he doesn't know English and started using a fake accent!!! What?? How rude. I understand if you actual don't know English that well and we can figure something out. But you were just talking to me perfectly and didn't have an accent. I got mad and told him that I would have to go to my car to get more money and he got 2 other employees to keep me inside and wouldn't let me leave. Long story short I had to call someone to walk 3 feet from where I was at the door to drive alllllll the way there. Get me more of my money from my car and give it to them. While Golden Nails is in a great central location, and they fit me in right away, I did not have a good experience my last time there. The selection of nail polishes is very minimal - mostly old red and pink OPI, with off brands like China Glaze. The color I ended up picking ended up being almost gone so the application of it looked far from smooth. My main problem is the quality of the manicure- in one day, several of my fingers were severely chipped! And I had not been hard on my nails at all. I don't pay $15 dollars for a manicure to last less than 24 hours. Ridiculous. Read Less

The good: friendly technicians. They attempted casual conversation and were very sweet. The massage chairs were comfortable. They opened early to accommodate our group of 4. The salon was clean. The bad: worst pedicure I have ever received. Despite having an appointment we were only provided 2 technicians for our group of 4. Toenails were unevenly trimmed and were not filed correctly so there are still sharp edges. Used a higher end nail polish (great color!) but didn't even cover the entire toenail on three toes. The exfoliant they used on my feet and legs felt like they were trying to rip the skin off my legs. Poor quality lotion left my legs and feet dry within an hour. Poor quality leg/foot massage. Overall: would not recommend. Friendly customer service does not outweigh poor quality service. Read Less

I've been going to this salon for years now. I am always happy with the work they do after getting my nails done. My nails last long and end up looking natural looking. The people are so kind and generous there. The employees always try to have people be pleased with what they do. I'm so glad that I found this salon, couldn't ask for a better one in town honestly :) I definitely recommend this place if you need your nails done. Read Less

Unprofessional conduct and poor quality service.While removing the gel nail paint, they injured and then peeled off several layers of my ring finger's nail. Even though one staff acknowledged it , the senior staff vehemently denied that anything went wrong! I recommend NOT going to this place at all if you want more for your money and time. Read Less

She was not ready to see / evaluate the damage done and talked in a tone I have never been spoken with before. They probably believe that offence is the best defense.
