They made my nails a lot shorter instead of longer. They cut them shorter than my finger. They left them uneven and not smooth. They also made my cuticles bleed. But some workers are better than others. I wasn’t paying attention and I didn’t know that there wasn’t tips until they were almost done. One of the workers asked to see my nails and she even looked like she wasn’t happy and she was picking of the excess powder that was still on my nail. I stopped in to Rio Nail Bar because my regular nail salon was closed and Rio is close to my home. NEVER AGAIN!! Before I even began, I had to wait for the guy to go have a smoke break. I went for a manicure with gel color. It was the worst manicure I have ever had - all he did was file my nails and apply the color. He worked so quickly I felt like he was trying to set a PR for doing my nails. The biggest shock was when I went to pay - extremely expensive and definitely not worth the price. Super bummed with my experience. I met a dear friend there who we hadn't seen each other in quite awhile, we made an appointment for 4:00- we didn't get sat down until 4:20 and they tried to make us sit across the salon from each other. Next, they did our nails in about 20 minutes flat, no "manicure" about it-- basically filed our nails and painted them. Definitely not impressed and will not be going back. I got a shellac manicure on Friday The lady had me in and out of there in 10 min tops. Sat afternoon the polish was already coming off on my left pointer finger. I called and was told to come in and they would fix it So I went in. SUN morning the polish was now coming off the right pointer finger. I was annoyed at this point. I called and was told by the man on the phone to come in again to have that one fixed. I asked if they were going to somehow compensate me for having t...o drive there now A 3rd time. This is my time and gas money. He said I will talk to the manager. So I go in and the only man in the place(the one I spoke on the phone with)fixed this nail and says ok you can go now it's fixed. I was like so what is the compensation for all my trouble? He replies "you get discount next time". I replied can I get this in writing? He replies" no I remember I am the mamager" Odd he was the one on the phone who needed to talk to a manager So I said what kind of discount? He replies 10% That is just unacceptable to me. My girlfriend has been here twice before and never had a bad experience. She was here not too long ago and had a good experience again. Shes not the kind of girl to get her nails done often so she doesnt really know the process. But the lady she had today took her time and was very clean about it. It was nice. Only real issue she had was she couldnt hear the lady who was speaking quietly. Then after my gf washed her hands, she asked someone else to take over. I was there with two others and my niece, my first pedicure. We had an appointment and waited as walk-ins were taken before us. Finally we sit in our chairs and sat for quite sometime before one lady started working on one of us...several minutes later another started with the other....and after maybe 10 minutes another woman started with me. We didn't get names, they wouldn't speak to us. We would try and talk with the women who were servicing us and they wouldn't even ackno...wledge. We weren't sure when we were supposed to tell them exactly what pedicures we wanted, and we all wanted the top of the line one....finally when we got their attention (let me remind you they were working on our feet as we were trying to get their attention) and the woman tells my friend, "oh I'm done with your pedicure....you never said what you wanted". We told her we were trying to say something but they wouldn't acknowledge us, and they didn't even ask what we wanted! We all finished at different times and didn't even want to do the pedicure we initially wanted anymore because we'd all be waiting on each other. As I went to get out of my chair, I accidentally scuffed the paint on my big toe. Instead of fixing it....they painted over it quickly...now looking worse than if I did it myself. In addition, soon as we took our shoes off when we got home....we all noticed our feet were still callused (and they barley were in the first place!) and still had flaky, dry skin. And apparently, my toe nails were already short enough as they didn't clip or file them (of which I had to when I got home). Too bad they didn't ask what pedicure we wanted, cause they would have gotten more money....guess the business isn't important. And now with the entire experience....we won't be returning....ever. We made an appointment and when we arrived it took them 15 minutes to get us situated. They kept talking to each other about us in another language. We came in a group of 4, one of the gals just wanted regular polish and the worker kept trying to get her to do shellac. He finally, after the 5th time of trying to persuade her, got her to give into a color that wasn't the same as the polish color she had chosen! During our pedicure they offered water. Nail BAR I assumed there was a full bar. They only have water, soda, and two kinds of wine. The level of customer service was extremely disappointing. I love Rio! I'm very picky about my nails and the guy who mans the front desk is the one who does my nails. He does a great job and listens to what I want. However, I can't say the same for some of the other employees. But it's still a nice place to go! Read Less

We had an 11:00 appointment and were still sitting here at 11:50 and no progress. We ended up being here for over 2 hours. We were given a menu to pick our pedicure option after 12. We both picked the $35 pedicure that was noted as lasting 35 minutes. They're pretty serious about that time too. It was definitely not a second longer than 35 minutes but maybe a little shorter. The pedicure started about 1220 and by then the water was ice cold so they added hot water. The actual service was nothing fancy. They didn't say a word to us and spoke to each other. Have been there several times , first time was mediocre at best. (3) pedicures and 3 manicures, cost me about 180.00 and it was just ok. Second time went in for a no chip and got an excellent manicure and polish lasted for a month. The last two times i've had a woman who speaks very poor english and tells me her life story in poor english. That would be ok but my 60.00 pedicure and no chip take about an hour and that would be ok except in two days the no chip is coming o...ff already. Properly train everyone and teach a basic manicure and how to apply PROPERLY a no chip, was on my cuticles, the sides of my nails were missed, poor polish job in general. I had the absolute worst pedicure ever here!!!! I will never go back. They had my moms chair unplugged and waited to plug it in till we complained. This was my first visit and got a pedi. It was decent but my issue is when I checked out. I was charged $7 more for "callous" removal that I was never told about. I've never heard of such a thing nor was it in their brochure. It's not like she spent any extra time doing whatever the "extra" was. All in time for pedi service was 35 min not including drying time. I don't have a problem for paying for an extra service if I'm asked in advance and it really is an extra service. Loved the experience here!! From the posh looking setting with chandeliers and sparkles to the plush pedicure chairs!! The amount of colors is a bit overwhelming at first but it's so fun to have almost any color imaginable for your choosing!! My friend and I splurged as it was her bridal shower weekend and got their deluxe spa manicure and pedicure!! The sugar scrub, extra lotion massage, and especially the hot stone massage was soooo worth it and we left feeling relaxed and pampered!! The technicians are all super friendly and great at their jobs! You can tell they all take pride in where they work!! As well as the place is spotless!! From the tools to the footpaths to the floors! The manager/owner is super sweet!! She made sure we were taken care of!! They are a bit pricy but you definitely get what you pay for in service as well as the quality of products!!! I would highly recommend this new gem in Ankeny right off of State Street and Oralabor Road. They also have wine available as there is a bar in one corner of the salon. Read Less
