For a busy afternoon, they were still quick to get me in for a walk-in pedicure. The whole pedicure felt a bit rushed, but was nice nonetheless and the polish looks great! The atmosphere is nice, and the salon is cute and clean. Will definitely be coming back. Read Less

They are by appointment only, when you come in, you sign in, pick your color and you only sit for a moment before the person who will take care of you comes to get you. I have been there at least a half dozen times now and the service I get is great. My tech's name is Katie you're offer something to drink water or soda and they get to work. I LOVE and appreciate that the tools are cleaned and sterilized each time. They are packaged and opened in front of you so you know. The atmosphere is nice, they play jazz and the massage chairs are great. They are on the expensive side, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for, so I don't mind. I moved here about a year ago and used yelp reviews to find this place and I wasn't disappointed. ***They also offer polish warranty For regular 24 hour repair for the gel polish a week..I actually had to utilize that option and they did with NO Problem!!! I went here specifically for the organic dip, I had it done at a salon in Clive, but wanted to find a place in Ames. They removed the 4 week old (!) dip from that place and the guy immediately told me it was done poorly. Well of course you're going to say that you're better. But my one complaint with the previous application was how clunky it looked. I had resigned myself to that just being how this stuff was. Well he was right, this application is so much thinner, more uniform and way less clunky, feels more like a gel manicure than acrylic. My only complaint is how long he left my nails after I asked a couple times to go shorter. Because this stuff stays on so well, I don't want super long nails in a couple of weeks. Next time I'll either cut before coming or REALLY emphasize nail length. Definitely more pricey, but it would have lasted beyond 4 weeks if my nails weren't so long, so worth it for not having to worry about it at all for weeks. Definitely recommend the dip. Read Less

I went to pro nails for about a year. Tom usually did my nails, but I found out upon arrival one day that he had quit.  There's also another man who works there who smells like smoke 100% of the time. Very unprofessional for an atmosphere that is supposed to be relaxing. When Tom quit, I got a fill with a new woman who was recently hired.  She repeatedly burned me with the drill, it was the most painful nail experience I've ever had!  Tom usually burned me a little bit too, but not this bad. When I politely mentioned it she told me I was "really sensitive". Not to mention my acrylics constantly broke, and they also never seemed to shape them correctly despite me explaining what I like. I have since switched to a nail salon in West Des Moines, even though I am an ames resident. I've been going to my new salon for several months, and since then I've never had a broken nail, and I've never once been burned with the drill. I honestly thought it was normal for my acrylic fills to include a little bit of burning pain, and I thought I was just too rough on my nails, but it turns out I was not the problem.  I've had a fill with one of the other girls who work there as well. She was still very rough, and my nails were incredibly uneven.  The owner is very nice, all though I only had a fill with her once. They also charged me $5 extra to shape my acrylics..to shape them into a square which is very standard at any salon and takes about 3 extra minutes. Bottom line, I would not reccomend this salon. Love this place! They are in the old train station (okay, I think it still runs for cargo, but not passengers, so I think of it as a has been station, lol). The staff here are super friendly, professional and do a great job. There are free drinks (I had wine) and the salon atmosphere was really relaxing. I can't think of anything else I could ask for from a salon. I will be back many times while I am in Ames. I can not recommend them strongly enough. Read Less

After horrible service at another local nail salon, I was so impressed with Pro Nails! Upon walking in, myself and my best friend were instantly greeted and sat down for our pedicure. I got the most basic pedicure on the menu but Michael went above and beyond to make the experience relaxing and fun. Aside from the overall wonderful customer service, I noticed that they sanitized all of their tools and were consistently cleaning after and around themselves. I will definitely be coming back! Acrylic nightmare! When I told the nail tech what shape I would like I was told it would be $5 extra, just for the shape. Every side of every nail is a different length, angle, and shape. When the acrylic was applied the tech didn't hold down the skin around my nails so the sides of my fingers are covered with acrylic while the lower sides of my nails have no acrylic on them. Also the nails have Tons of bubbles that show the odd texture through the polish. The only reason I'm not rating them 1 star is because it was a clean salon. Read Less

The first time I went to Pro Nails was back in December of 2014. One of the stylists fromEsprit Salon referred me to Tracy. She recommended Pro Nails because they are the cleanest nail salon in Ames. Tracy did a beautiful job manicuring and polishing my nails. I asked for gel polish and her work was amazing!Having worked nearly fifty hours in five days, my husband decided to treat me with a mani/pedi with the works. Michael did my pedicure with my own polish. I'd never had a paraffin wax dip before but I really enjoyed it! The foot and calf massage was heavenly.Afterwards, I sat with Tracy again and she did as wonderfully as the last time. I don't mind paying a little more money for a very clean environment and sterile implements. :) Read Less

Pro Nails does an AMAZING job every time! Ann does my nails exactly the way that I like (I don't like them thick at all).  I can come in and show her a picture off from Pinterest and she does it perfectly every time.  They are very sanitary and the fact that they are in the old depot is really cool.
