I went in and got an acrylic dip and absolutely loved it! They have great service and are very accommodating. They asked me multiple times if I wanted a drink and apologized for the small wait there was. While I was in there they had an irate costumer about getting a minor cut on her cuticle and they handled it very well... bringing her a hot towel, putting ointment on the cut and getting her reset up with a new manicurist. Very professional service with not a very professional costumer. They have a great color variety and are open to trying new designs and techniques! I don’t live in Altoona so this is not my usual place. HOWEVER, when my usual manicurist is unavailable, I come to Top Nails. I have always been a “walk-in”, and I’ve only waited maybe five minutes at most. My last visit was beyond excellent with not a single nick to my cuticles. I had Tom and he was superb. I came in for a fill with Mela, I never had her do my nails before but her pictures looked great. I had stiletto nails before and I would assume she would keep them that way but she gave me some odd mix between almond and stiletto. Now me working in the service industry before, I always tip, but upon leaving I noticed one hand was pointed the other round. If I could rate a 0 star, I would. My daughter and I waited for 40-50 minutes today with our water warmed up 6 times!!! 6 times they had to warm up the water because it was such a long wait. This was probably the only thing that was impressive as they want you to be comfortable while you wait for an hour or more for service. Our feet were prunes!!! They only started on us because I said we'd need to leave 10 minutes later. Then, they spent only 20 minutes on our feet top...s. We spent more time drying our nails then they did on a rub. We walked in at 3:15 and left at 5:30pm. The wait would have been tolerable if the pedicure was even half way adequate. They didn't even get rid of our cuticles and barely filed our nails. I think she skipped three of my toes completely when filing and only trimmed 2 of them. She pushed in on the side of my toes and asked if they hurt. Since I didn't wince, she didn't touch my toes. I need another pedicure to get the ingrown nails out of my toes. Never have I been somewhere where they rub your legs smearing them with lotion and oil at once, then paint your nails and then put on the hot towels while your polish is drying. Really?!! If you're looking for a good chair massage (the chairs are the only good thing about this place) and a few free beers (I never had an alcoholic beverage while I was there but saw several others that were offered) before you leave disappointed from the long wait for horrible service.... this is your place. Went in with my daughter and niece today. For me and my daughter it was $104. Then my niece pays and hers is $102. Why? $20 upcharge for shellac on your toes? Ridiculous! Asking questions just gets snotty comebacks, they dont know where were going for cheaper prices. Ummmm anywhere. Ive been to at least 4 places in Altoona alone that have cheaper prices. I have been here once before. The first time I went I waited over an hour. I thought maybe it was just a fluke, and they were understaffed. Tonight I went again with two other people for pedicures. We waited for over 50 minutes. Then the owner came over to tell us that we are going to have to wait because people that had an appointment, were going before my group. I arrived at 6:30 their appointment was for 7. The owner or manager whoever it was, was rude, and not accommod...ating. If I could give this business zero stars I would. The fact that three other people before us were waiting for over an hour should have been a sign to just turn around and leave. We stopped in on a Monday night just as they were closing -- my girlfriend asked if they do walk ins or just appointments -- we were told both. We said we'd be back Saturday afternoon. Just as we said, we showed up Saturday afternoon. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed and they remembered us!!! We got seated, feet soaked, had a cocktail and our pedicures!!! It was awesome!!! I cannot be happier with my nails!!! I love my nails! However I had a pedicure, she barley scrubbed my feet I have some dry skin still and the French on the little toes PERFECT! Big toe? HORRIBLE! Us 3 had an appt at 3pm and didnt get started till 3:50pm and they closed at 5pm. So yeah they stayed late but thats what happens when you dont think about how many people come through your door. So bummed! Finally talked my husband into getting a pedicure with me... and it was over 2 hours we were there. And the pedicure lasted 15 mins. So disappointing. It would be nice if they would offer a discount or tell you up front this could be an hour or 2 wait. I love the nail salon and find it very relaxing but Sunday it was rushed and awful. I am the type of person that will give a second chance, just hoping the feedback will get some things changed. A 15 minute pedicure is not worth the money or the 2 hour wait. Very disappointed with my service today. 2 bad experiences in a row with this nail salon and will not be back. About a month ago, after my pedi, I was walking to pay my bill on a freshly mopped floor that had no signage stating floors were wet. My legs went from under me, and I fell...hard. While they did ask me if I was ok... assisted me to the counter...that was it. I didn't expect a free service, an apology for no signage would have been nice. Today's visit, I arr...ived at the salon at 11:30, left at 1:25. My water was warmed up at least twice in the 40 minutes while waiting for my pedicure to begin. After Top Nails was recommended to me via a local swap site for their kid chairs, I made an appointment for 2:30 on a Saturday. Upon making the appointment I told them it was for 4 year old, for her birthday, we wanted a pedicure and the child's chair. We arrived 5 minutes early, they directed us over to the butterfly chair. The pedi bowel on the kids chair was disgusting so I wiped it out with a wipie. I noticed shortly after we sat down, there were 6 other women waiting as ...well. Our appt was at 2:30, at 3:15 a lady came over and tried to just slap some paint on her toes. My 4 year old niece asked why she didn't get water? I told the lady I wanted her to have a pedicure. Water, lotion, paint. Well over an hour, sitting in a dirty chair, with no water, with a four year old, they came over and started. It was 4:20 when we left, nearly two hours later. They only spent a total of 13 minutes with her from "hello" to "good-bye". They did paint her nails too at no charge but by this point the damage was done. TERRIBLE!! Terrible service, terrible attitude, terrible work. Nothing good to say about them! The younger man who did my acrylic nails didn't speak the entire time I was there. He kept yanking my hand and arm to position it where he wanted, and he kept digging his own nail into my cuticle to move my fingers where he wanted them to be. They aren't filed straight, and my thumb nail has a huge divot in it. When I pointed out the flaw to him, he huffed and puffed like I was an inconvenience. He "tried" to fix it by dabbing his brush into the powder and dabbing it onto my nail. The glob was falling off my nail, so I tried to flatten it out with my index finger. He scolded me in a stern voice "DON'T TOUCH IT!" When we were finally done, even though I was not satisfied, I just wanted to get out of there and away from him. Went here with my elderly mother. She has arthritis and calluses on her heals. Thought I would treat her to a nice pedicure for Mothers Day, boy was I wrong. Instead of helping my mother get into the chair, three of the employees just stood there, pointed, and laughed at her. When she was finally able to get situated, the guy who got 'stuck' with my mom laughed with the woman doing my feet, and they both pointed and laughed together. Then two of the 'managers' came over, one at a time, to laugh at me and my mother. Not to mention most of the guys were drinking bottles of beer.
