Three strikes and you are out!!! I understand this place is very busy and usually disorganized but I continued to go because it’s near my home. The owner is the most rude person in the entire shop. Strike#1 was very crowded and I had waited over an half hour so I decided to purchase a beverage. I placed my beverage order with the owner and 15 min later still no beverage and no service. When I finally made eye contact with him I motioned with a smile mind you, (me simulating drinking a beverage) and he yelled at me from across the room WAIT! Strike #2 I had my nails done by a very pleasant young lady but when she was done she accidentally bumped my hand and messed up one nail. The owner told her to go do someone else and he would fix my nail. He was so rough, messy, and did such a poor job( and this was just taking the polish off and re-applying the polish!). That one nail looked so awful, messy and missing polish in places🤮 Strke#3 Yesterday rushed there after work and walked in the door at 6:44p and before my foot was over the threshold of the front door the owner yelled to me, CLOSED! I said oh I’m sorry I checked the website and it said 7:30p you closed and before I could get out of my mouth “all I want is a polish “ he yelled, you see all these people waiting!! I then said ok what time do you open tomorrow knowing fully I was done at that point but since everyone waiting had their eyes on me I didn’t want to get rude with him and tell him what I really felt about his rude demeanor x3!!!! So done with this place!! Never again will I return simply because of the rude, broken English speaking, unprofessional and patron selective owner and if you read this you know what the Hell I am saying!!! Kick rocks!! I wanted to try Sassy since they're close to my house. There was no one at the front desk to greet you or let you know how long the wait will be. Also no room to sit and I had to ask a customer if she was waiting long. She was already waiting 30 mins and she said no one has spoken to her. So I had left and decided to come back the next day(Saturday) they open at 9:30am. I arrived at 9: 26 am they already had 6 people signed and still no one at the front desk to great you. I still signed in and waited and still none of their workers said anything not even a good morning. At 9:50 am called Sparkle they'd said there was no wait for waxing to come now. I scratched my daughter's and my name off their list and ran to Sparkle. I got to Sparkle I was greeded with a good morning what are you here for, told them what I needed and took me and my daughter right away. There was no waiting and I was done less than 15 mins. Went in, wrote my name down, was told the wait would be an hour. Left, came back an hour later, and the owner said I never wrote down my name and it would be another hour and a half. This place is a joke. Go to Sparkle if you want good service. Read Less

I don’t normally get my nails done, but when I do, I go to Sassy's. They serve drinks for cash, they have wonderful massage chairs for when you’re getting a pedicure, and it’s usually a busier place when it’s on weekends or evenings, but if you make an appointment it’s ok. I’ve never had a long wait here, but things happen and sometimes people gotta wait. It’s worth the wait, trust me! They’re so friendly too, always talking, and the last nail tech who was giving me my gel set, kept going back and forth helping me try to find a good color I liked. Came here often & not sure if I’ll ever go back. Brought multiple people in and spent good money multiple times and I tip good. Took my boyfriends daughter to get a no chip mani yesterday and to get mine remove and redone as well. I waited 45 mins without being greeted / asked or helped. Until I spoke up 20 mins before they closed and they tried to use the excuse they were busy. Yes they were but for at least 15 mins there had been a chair open. I sat and watched employees sit on their iPads doing nothing. Their excuse was she does toes not nails. In my opinion if you work there. You should make sure everyone is greeted and felt welcome. When I walked again a girl was complaining that #6 had made the color of her nails pink instead of purple. Not what she wanted and charged $60. She talked to someone and they wanted her to walk over and interrupt the lady from #6 WHILE she is working on someone else already to have her fix them. She didn’t want to be rude and said she’s seeing someone else already. He said then pay for it. I can’t go over there. You do it. Don’t want to then pay. Why the hell should a customer have to go interrupt someone from working and doing a job (hopefully) on another person who is their to pamper / relax and pay money to have a good service to get disturbed, interrupted and possibly interfere with them doing a good job. I also asked for a receipt and two of the employees laughed at me. I spoke highly of this place and came an hour out of my way from Chicago to take my boyfriends daughter HERE to get her nails done. This is by far my favorite nail salon in NWI. The owners are great, they take care of their customers and make sure you leave satisfied with their services. I've been a client of theirs for over 5 years, and have watched their business grow over the years, yet they still maintain that family ambiance. I usually have a better experience at this location and that is why I past by all the nail salons in Valparaiso and head to this one in Portage. What attracted me to them was the fact that they had funky nail designs and alcohol. However each time I went; I had only had one person to create a satisfactory design and they never offered me a menu for a drink. Although, I have seen others with menus. This last and finally time I went; it was a holiday, and they were short staffed. I waited a little over an hour for a no chip manicure. There were people who came after me who were getting in ahead of me and others because they were there to just get pedicures and manicures. When asked about this they stated that there was only one manicurist and the other 4 were doing pedicures. They were short staffed. When asked why they didn't have those people who came after me and others wait for their manicures until we got our nails done; there was no reply and they did not oblige. It appeared to me that because they were getting more services done and paying more miney, they were more important. That was a good waste of my day off. Won't be going back! Read Less

I needed a salon that was open on Sunday because my nails looked terrible and I was going to Chicago the next day. It was my first time. No waiting wonderful job. I loved the way my nails were completely dry without having to wait . My glass of wine made it even more special. I will be going back again for a pedicure. Everyone was very nice. I felt very rushed and like no one was listening to me! I have a slice on my thumb because rushing and sliced it with the file! Also the fans to dry your toes are so dirty I was getting fuzz and dirt on my toenails! Very unhappy and disappointed for the money I advise you go somewhere else! Read Less

For one, I was just getting a color change and the man was doing mine and my moms at the same time so they must have been short handed, but he sloppily put the paint on my nails and then did not even put a clear coat on top. Then he asked me if i wanted a design. Stupidly, I said sure. I did not know that it would cost me an extra five dollars. I would have appreciated if I would have been told ahead of time that a design on two of my fingers costs an extra five dollars. Stupid. This place has gone down hill. I used to love this place, right down the street from me, they did great nails, plus booze. Last three times I have gone there have been a nightmare. My nails come out horrible and techs don't care. So are even hostile if you correct them. It too crowded, appointments don't matter everyone gets in the same wait list. Read Less

Showed up at 1:30 and waited over well over an hour as people that had appointments kept coming and going before us.  The nice thing was we were Able to sit and have a Bloody Mary (or 2) while we were waiting. The bad thing was we had An antsy 4 year old waiting with us.  The receptionist ended up sitting and painting her nails (for free) and then when we were finally getting our pedicures she pulled up a movie on her phone for my friends daughter to sit and watch while she was waiting for us. The receptionist was great....nail techs seemed crabby and cold. I think the fact that you can get a cocktail while getting your nails done is the main reason people go here....I will probably only go back occasionally for that reason. I haven't had my nails done at a salon for about two years because of how quickly they would chip. Hearing a friend rave about gel polish I decided to try them out.     WhenI saw that Sassy nails had a bar and was open on Sunday I called to see if they did gel and the cost. I spoke to Johnny and he was very friendly and confirmed they indeed did gel or no chip nail polish. What I appreciated most was his telling me that he might close earlier than their posted time.    I was very impressed with the aesthetics of the salon and grateful for the HVAC system. I have asthma that is triggered by strong smells, Sassy had no strong odors. I was very pleased with the service and the no chip polish. Upon arrival I was immediately seated and out in less than 45 minutes.    I would have given them five stars, but I had to ask for a drink menu and my manicure was complete before I enjoyed my drink.  Tip to owner, offer drinks when customers enter the salon or are first seated at a station.      Alcohol has the highest profit margin, and being served at the tech's table might loosen up the customers. My wife and I went into just get manicures, why wife picks her color and I just get mine buffed.  While this place is nice and they have a bar, I had a horrible tech. She seems like she didn't care.  After she was done I told her I wanted mine buffed.  She had attitude and half assed my buff.  When I went to pay for us it should have been $24 dollars instead my tech charged $29 I asked why she said for my buff extra $5.....first off she never told me it would be an additional charge and second if my whole got paint at no extra charge why would they charge me extra for buff.  They did a below average job on our nails so we won't be going back Read Less

This salon is above and beyond your typical nail salon. A full bar? C'mon. It's amazing. I love Johnny, he always has the biggest smile on his face. The salon is gorgeous. Wait time can get a little long but what do you expect? They're the best salon in town. Read Less
