You guys, seriously, not only is supporting small businesses a great thing to do in general but City Nail Salon is one of my absolute favorite locally owned businesses in Springfield. I stumbled upon them about a month and a half ago and I've been there 3 times already with many more visits sure to follow - especially as the holidays approach. I get a regular mani because gel is just too harsh on my already brittle nails but my first manicure here lasted almost 2 full weeks - and I work in a hospital so I'm constantly putting soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizer on my hands - so that's pretty impressive for regular polish! Also, please consider the fact that, in my experience, they are ALWAYS more than willing to fix chipped or smudged nails. I've come back after smudging my nails and have never felt anything less than welcome, although fixing someone's smudged nails is probably not exactly a fun thing to do. In fact, just today while I was there someone came in with a chipped mani that they got elsewhere and Helen was absolutely willing to fix it for her after informing her that the color might not be an exact match. I really do enjoy chatting with Helen - it's become a much-needed and hard-earned little reward I treat myself to on my day off. They are both so very down to earth, they remembered my name even just after my first visit, and are always genuinely interested in knowing what I've been up to since the last time I've come in. I know that by visiting City Nail Salon I am doing more than a feel-good deed by visiting a small business: I am truly supporting someone's passion and dream so what could possibly be better than that?! :) Read Less

My job isn't anything short of stressful. It's becomes doubly so right before a big event. This month, I have 2! Deciding that I needed to make a conscious effort to do something nice for myself and relax, I looked up local nail salons. I was particularly interested in a gel manicure, as I'm going to be lifting boxes and potentially messing up a regular manicure fairly quickly. City Nail Salon was close, affordable, and the reviews all seemed pretty outstanding, so I called and made an appointment. Once at the salon, things were great. Helen is friendly and easy to talk to. I was able to pick out a nice, professional looking gray color. A few coats and a hand massage later, my nails were looking pretty fabulous! My big thing with getting my nails done is I really want it to last. I'm pretty good at painting my own nails and I have a lot of colors so, if it's not going to last longer than what I do myself, it seems kind of pointless and like a big waste of money. I am happy to report that this gel manicure has already lasted 11 days, and I'm sure it'll last the full 14! From the first time i stopped in here to my most recent visit, being a few minutes ago, i have to give them the recognition they deserve - the atmosphere at this nail salon is so welcoming and friendly! not only does this salon appeal esthetically, it feels like a salon you want to be in while getting your mani/pedi. Helen took the time to speak with me about their new product (dip for nails - a new technique i've yet to try), her business, and just from those few minutes of interaction, I know i'm at the right nail salon, you can see they enjoy the work environment they have created alongside their clients. HELEN IS THE BEST!!!!! I went to a million different nail salons before finally finding City Nail Salon. It is super easy to make an appointment and they honor it each time. Helen is truly PHENOMENAL. I absolutely love talking to her and she does an AMAZING job. I get acrylics with gel on my nails and sometimes a regular pedicure. She does it all and is so thorough. She does great things! She tries out some cool things on my nails, too. I love the glitter and she thinks of neat things to try every time. She even did my nails for my wedding. They were white with glitter and I got so many compliments. Seriously, I can't say enough good things about her. The shop is clean and relaxing. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. This is my nail salon home! Traci is the best! but.. I think she's the only good one for manicures. the other ones have made me bleed or don't have as much attention to detail. I love traci. pricing is fair. Sometimes I have to wait when I make an appointment, bc they need more qualified manicurists. alos, i. not sure if they clean their utensils between each client. with all that being said I still go there every month bc traci is that good. This place was recommended by friend as "the nicest" salon in the area. Tracey was super nice, but I think she was overworked! Gave 3/5 for Tracey, since she is my friends friend. Otherwise 2/5 for sure. I had an apt and it seemed like my tech rushed through my mani n pedi because there were 4 other clients sitting in pedi chairs without a tech yet. My toes didnt get properly cleaned, there was still dirt left under nails. My finger nails cuticles have been roughly trimmed and are peeling at the edges and the nail polish chipped the next morning. It hasnt even been 24 hrs. Since my friend recommended the place I left good tips, not for the service or quality of work, but for my friend. I left total $55 for mani n pedi with nail art on two big toes and two fingers... Not worth $55 at all! Tracey is pretty good at art. But their products are old and prolly expired, or diluted too many times coz its old and thick. Big question on cleaninness and sterilization of their equipment! Kind of gross. Came home and soaked my feet in anti fungul solution, just as a precaution! Not returning! Read Less
