I've consistently had excellent service at Phillip Nail Salon. I've been coming here for years and the people who work here are kind, funny, accomodating, and incredibly hard-working. I only recently started getting my nails done and asked for a recommendation from a co-worker. She suggested this place and it was amazing. The girl who did my nails went above and beyond. I love this place. I went there for the first time summer 2016 before I had major surgery and they pampered me and made me laugh! I've been there a few other times on special occasion but now that I get my nails done more often I ALWAYS come here and ALWAYS have an excellent experience. I feel very welcomed, relaxed and they always make me laugh! I just took my friend here for the first time and this is now her new nail home. Very nice people and salon. I got a full set and some of the acrylic doesn't cover my entire nail. Before putting the polish on he filed the nail down by my cuticle and it looks like I need a fill after a few days. Not all my nails are the same shape or length. I'm not going back again. Read Less

I just got a pedicure and am very disappointed! Today they put me with a girl that is very very new. She took over an hour to do my spa pedicure & I had skipped the massage part! You would think the end result would be nice but my nails are sloppy, unevenly cut, and calluses on heels still thick after she did them twice! The polish is a mess that I'm going to remove and reapply myself. And no I don't have those type of feet that are such a hot mess that they require extra time!  What a waste of $25!!! Read Less

Stopped by this nail salon as I was in IL for a wedding. Got a spa pedicure and treated two nieces to manicures. No appointment needed and the entire staff were so friendly. Since we were visiting, they gave us all kinds of places to visit and eat. Great experience and lovely staff. Read Less

This is the best experience in a nail salon I've had in a long time. First off, the young lady, Jessica, speaks English. No more missed communication or the feeling of being talked about in another language.  Plus I have bad callus and she used my preferable choice, the razor instead of the cheese grater. I had a great pedi, and then a no chip manicure which has definitely lived up to its name. All this for $60! I'm going to make this a mandatory monthly pilgrimage. Read Less

I'm an out of towner, here for work and was in need of a new manicure. Luckily, this salon was open late and I was able to hit it up on my way home from work. And I was in for a surprise! Not only was the gel color selection overwhelming by the quantity, but the place was clean, had a fun color scheme and atmosphere, and the staff was fantastic! The first time I went I had Phillip and he did a fantastic job and the nail salon is quite nice. I had him the second time and decided I had found my nail place. The next time I had a woman who took ONE HOUR THIRTY FIVE MINUTES for a simple fill...no chips, breaks, etc. I sat through three 30 min sitcoms. The last time was the worst!! I got a teenage kid with a bad attitude. I said, "Do you get tired of doing nails?" He said, "F*** yeah!!!" When he asked if I wanted a design and I said no...he said, "Thank God!!!" and continued to use his favorite F word with attitude through my entire services of manicure and pedicure. He would just stare off into space, other employees had bad interaction with him. He said he might keep me a couple hours so he wouldn't have to take any more clients. And to top it off WORSE MANICURE EVER. Almost every nail ended up with hang nails and completely uneven filing. I will never go back or recommend. Worst nail shop I have ever been too! My nails are crooked which I told her multiple times and she just flat out told me it was fine and ignored me. My entire nail was caked in gel and glue all the way down to my hand that was painful to pull off. I sat there for two hours and this is what I get.   These nails are a day old. I finally left a nail salon happy with my nails. Atmosphere is great. My nails are beautiful. Phillip is such a nice and funny guy and he joked and talked with me the whole time. I visited the other day and didn't have the best experience. They have 4 or so pedicures ranging from $20-$33 with their $15 manicure. No chip cost $30 or $35, can't remember. Anyway, the place was absolutely empty when I walked in (which should have been my clue). They sat me down immediately in one of the chairs. I went to go turn on the chair and couldn't get the remote to work so I asked the employee if this chair worked and she said that the one I was sitting in was broke. Mind you, there were about six or seven other chairs I could have been sat in. Pedicure was okay, not the best I ever had. The worker seemed like she was new because of the way she went about things, but said she had been working there for seven years. She was very slow and it took me about 2 hours to get a normal pedicure and manicure. They manicure and pedicure look good, but, all in all, I probably won't return. The place was clean at least. I was back home visiting my parents and was in serious need of a pedicure! My mom and I were out to lunch at Applebee's and this place came up as close and had ok reviews. I got a pedicure and my mom got a basic manicure (she's not a glam kind of lady so the only time she really goes is when I'm in town). I sat down in the chair for the pedicure and she had the water going and the massager turned on. They had the different pedicure options on the little side table on each chair. I was trying to read the difference between most, but I have some calluses, especially during flip flop season, so I went with the #4 deluxe pedicure for $33. Not bad! However, most places I've been to recently have a slightly more expensive deluxe pedi that includes a paraffin wax treatment. The lady working in my feet was very gentle and thorough. It's been a few years since I've had a pedicure in the Midwest, but one thing I noticed was that they didn't wear gloves as strictly as most places I've been. While she was working on me, the lady next to me finished her pedicure and right when she got out of the chair a young boy descended upon the chair to scrub and disinfect everything. And he was getting into some crevices!The color selection of the polish was a little disappointing. They had a lot of different similar shades of pink. I like to spice up the colors and I LOVE sparkles, but this time I went with a hot pink and am very happy with it! The lotion she used on my feet left them feeling like they needed more moisturizer a couple hours later, but I have the same thing almost everywhere I go. My mom had a nice experience getting her manicure. She has carpel tunnel and some arthritis in her fingers, so she told the girl to be gentle and she said she did a good job. She said before she knew it the girl was almost done cutting her cuticles and she felt like she just sat down! Hahaha my mom also, doesn't really like color on her nails which boggled their minds, but all in all we both had a good experience. My mom said she will come in again, but may bring her own polish. I wouldn't mind going back again. There were some people working there that look like they could probably do just about any design you want on your nails too. Read Less

I'm begrudgingly giving it 1 star because the salon is very clean, which quite frankly is difficult to find in Rockford.  Also they have a small selection of some new seasonal colors from OPI.  And, they fit me in on a tight schedule.  Regardless, I can't give zero stars if I wanted to anyway!I'm estimating that I've had well over 100 manicures in my life, and this had to be one of the most disappointing manicure experiences ever.  The manicurist was just plain awful.  She shaped one of my nails crooked and when I pointed it out to her, she acted like she didn't speak English and didn't understand (like the Anjelah Johnson nail salon comedy skit - look it up lol).  Then, I wanted a lighter color on the bottom and darker on top (which I've had plenty of times at my regular nail salon in Chicago).  She replied in perfect English that my request wasn't possible.  I just had to laugh - I thought you couldn't speak English!She massaged my palms and wrists (no fingers, no forearms) for all of 10 seconds total (I'm not exaggerating).  And she screwed up the polishing by not getting the polish even near the sides.  I pointed it out to her after the first coat.  Then she put on another coat and the topcoat, then went back over a couple of nails with polish!  After the topcoat!  What??  It looked bad and chipped within 2 days.  And they charge more than most comparable salons in Rockford.Overall, I'd suggest not going here.  It's a waste of money and time. My favorite part about this place: you can drink wine!  My friends and I came in for a girls day out and brought our own wine to enjoy during our reunion together.  The staff were very fun and friendly and very accommodating.  They also have their own wine there as well (but I'd recommend bringing your own).My pedicure was very nice.
