So I came here for the first time a week ago to get my nails done for my birthday. The lady that did my nails didn’t do such a great job. First thing that threw me off was that she was constantly looking up at her surroundings WHILE glueing, shaping and filing my nails. I didn’t like that at all but I kept my mouth shut because I was hoping the outcome of my nails would be good. But I was wrong. While she was filing my nails, she had the nerve to tell me that one of my finger is crooked...she was talking around my left middle finger. The only crooked finger I have is my right pinky. The reason why she told me that was because SHE shaped it wrong in the beginning. Fast forward to the nail polish application, you can see the nail polish streaks. Even though I was not happy with the service that was provided, I still gave her a tip because I never feel comfortable leaving a salon without giving a tip. Not going back. I've been going sporadically for the last year as they are close to work and home. They are dirty (they dont wipe or sanitize)and their polishes are always on dregs. Everytime I go they never do them right, there's always bumps, ridges, missing paint on edges,and their edge filing is always crooked. I wanted a matte blue with a gold flecked nail Polish on one nail(see the screenshot I brought w/me for show), with round squared edges. I always have my edges done before I walk in, but they always mess with them. This time the edges are crooked, the matte finish product he used left swivel lines, a big bump on my pinky, grooves, and missing edges. While I'm sitting at his station there's old polish stains, a thick film of nail dust all over the table, and his using dirty tools. Awesome!! I’ve been to many salons around Chicago. It was my first time coming here and I can honestly say that for the first time my nails were literally identical to the picture I showed. Not everyone can master a coffin shaped nail, let alone from a single picture; I was definitely testing them at that point. I’ve been going to Tinu for almost a year now. Best salon I’ve been to that deals with Afro Caribbean hair. Good quality hair extensions. I am especially impressed and pleased with the superior quality of the hair extensions. From my personal experience, the Delusso hair extension brand has proven to be the best quality. In the past I experimented with numerous high street stylists in Manchester and London but felt the service and quality did not measure up to what the team at House of Tinu provides. Don't waste your money here. This place is utterly disgusting and dirty. I came in for a manicure, waited 40 minutes and then realized that they were using the same tools from the last person. This is my go - to nail salon. I am there every other week for either a no -chip or dip. I've never had a bad job done by any of the regular staff. Although sometimes if I see a new person I am hesitant, because I have gotten work done by their new people that wasn't up to par. I'm glad to see those people did not stay, however.I do see that they get busy Monday and Tuesday's when they usually run specials so I think if you're going to go on those days you should definitely consider making an appointment first. I have been a regular customer for 2 years and I go bi-weekly to get a no chip manicure and pedicure or fill in with no chip polish and pedicure. I went two weeks ago and my polish was gone frommy pedicure two days  later. I gave them another chance and I came in Saturday and Monday I noticed my polish was uneven so I went for them to fix it and then Tuesday, I broke a nail. Then they were rough with nails and told me that I had to pay to get my nail fixed although I was just there Saturday. I will never spend my money there again. I’ve came here many times & unfortunately only my first two times were good. Yet I continue to visit hoping they satisfy me just as they did in the beginning. My nails are always crooked & when I point them out I always get the response “I’m not done” but once they are, they’re still crooked. Out of all the people who have done my nails, ONLY ONE was nice and friendly. The rest had an attitude (very unprofessional, you don’t show your emotions/attitude on the job). The owner doesn’t know what he’s talking about and always comes up with a sad excuse when a customer complains. My last visit (last week) I had asked for gems.. they told me no ?! He said “no, why? It’s a nice color” I told him I’m paying and wanted gems and he simply ignored me. . I am not about to argue because no one is simply worth my time, & us not being able to speak the same language fluently doesn’t help either so I don’t see the point. I absolutely won’t be returning. I was recommended by a friend and I'm so glad I switched salons and came here. Ana is amazing and was extremely patient. I got a full set no-chip manicure and I'm in love. Aside from the great job they do, I like how they talk to you and try to have a conversation with you rather than talk and laugh about you or others to their colleagues like other salons do. This place should probably be shut down. It was honestly disgusting. VERY UNCLEAN. The tools my technician was working with were very clearly dirty/ possibly used. I'm honestly surprised I didn't get some kind of fungus. I was screaming on the inside while looking around. I got a full set and while looking around there was dirt and dust under the pedicure chairs and at the other nail stations. Paint was literally peeling off the walls and there was A HOLE in the wall near the drying station, covered with masking tape. There was nail dust and polish splatter on pretty much everything. I tried to get sneaky pictures, but these were all I could get (no close ups of the nail station -- revolting).Only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because my technician was amazing and I actually really liked the way my nails turned out. I had only been here once before and received a decent gel manicure the first time but today I just left and got a good look at my nails and received the WORST gel manicure I've ever had in my life. The girl who gave me the manicure was nice and I stupidly did not look closely to examine my hands before I left (after my first experience was good) but there is gel polish all over my finger tips, and the beautiful LONG nails that were all the same shape I walked in with were absolutely butchered. Each nail is a different shape, polish isn't even and all in the beds of my nails. Sloppy sloppy work. So after a crappy experience at my regular pedicure spot I went on a quest to find a new place. 5 Star Nails had good reviews and affordable prices so I decided to check this place out with my sister. We were very pleased. For $40 we got a relaxing pedicure that included a leg massage, hot towels, and a paraffin wax treatment. It included more services than the previous salon I've been going to and at a cheaper price. Highly recommend this place for pedicures. If you are going with someone else I would recommend making an appointment so you are more likely to be seated together and started around the same time. My only frustration was that we were walk ins and they took my sister first, then someone who had an appointment, and then me. We ended up not being seated together because of this and my sister had to wait over 15 min for me to finish up my pedicure. Definitely will make an appointment in the future. Read Less

I went in for a haircut with extremely damaged hair that hadn't been treated in years! Tinu and her staff really made my experience so nice. They were all friendly and smiley and made me feel welcome. And above all, my hair turned out so amazing. I got their protein treatment, mould, and blow dry short cut and finish (from long damaged hair). My hair is now super healthy and doesn't break anymore. My daughters and I got there early to avoid the Saturday rush, however the nail techs did an incomplete and rushed job. Polish is lumpy, my daughters nails aren't fully painted, and they were in such a rush they didn't fully take off the old nail polish. Pretty typical nail salon. Plenty of pedicure chairs and but it doesn't seem like there are enough nail chairs. It always seems like someone is waiting to get their nails done. I've been here a few times before but kept forgetting to write a review. The service prices are pretty typical for a nail salon. The supplies used are taken out of a sealed bag. Hopefully that means that they were sanitized properly. I took my daughter here to get her hands and nails painted for easter and they charged me $10. It used to be $5 for both! After yelping around searching for a decent nail salon near me, I came across 5 Star Nails. I got a full set with regular color. Ken, my nail tech was very friendly and personable. He did a great job on my nails. I usually drive to Chicago to my go to nail salon, but 5 Star just became my new nail place. My feet looked as though I've been kicking bricks barefooted. I was long overdue for my monthly pedi. Having moved my reg spot is a quite a bit farther from me. So i need to find something closer to home. In the meantime, my feet were starting to look like claws. I found this place on Yelp and gave it a shot. They were pretty packed when we got there but we were called after only a few mins. Apparently everyone else was waiting on manicures The pedicurist did a great job with my toes and gave me a deluxe pedicure that was life altering. Worth every penny and my feet look like feet again. My daughter and I came here to get regular manicures. Technically, they did a good job and on their work alone, I would give them a 4-star rating. But the guy who did my nails was very unfriendly, even though I tried several times to engage him in small talk. My daughter's technician had an exchange (in another language) with another employer that ended with both of them laughing; she thought they were laughing at her because she declined a no-chip manicure based on color choices.Although he was very discrete, I believe my technician wrapped his clippers and cuticle tool in the packaging that indicates it's been sterilized immediately after our session, even though there hadn't been time to actually sterilize the tools. Horrible... My nail tech was an older gentlemen who was pissed off before even beginning my nails. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, HUGE mistake! He burned my finger with trying to file my nails down with the machine. Left my nails uneven and even painted dust on my nails cause he didn't let me wash them after he filed them. Where has this place been hiding?  I am very satisfied with my services. First I have to say that I worked late and I walked in at about 7:20pm and was services almost immediately. Horrible service.  Went there with a big group for an upcoming wedding,  they were confused after we explained multiple times that we were all getting the same thing.  The guy I had was the worst guy I've ever had do my nails.  The cut me on 3 fingers and 1 toe.  Messed up my nails 3 times  and got frustrated when I asked to fix it.  Started slamming down nail Polish bottles and the cabinet doors.  Started mutter to himself.  Absolutely rude and inconsiderate.  Would never in my life go back.  The other girls all had similar issues.  All but one girl out of 8 had an okay experience. Been here about four times already and although its a semi new location, you can tell they receive a lot of repeat customers (That's a good sign). I now live in California but every single time I'm in town and need some pampering, this is my go-to spot.I've gotten manicures and pedicures done here so I can vouch that it's a great place to visit for both services.They do a really great job!! & their pedicure massage chairs are amazing!All of their materials are sterilized clean and the areas always pristine, which is always something to look for when you try new places. I really like it here - but only when David or Sam do my nails. I just had my nails done by one of the ladies and it was a very painful experience where she popped the artificial nails off instead of soaking them because "it would take 30 minutes to soak them." !!! Today, my nails are in a lot of pain. I should have made her soak them instead of letting her convince me she could pop them off, but it was hard to understand her. When she popped the nails off, she ended up breaking 1-2 of my nails! COMMON! Then, instead of putting on tips (since that would take too much time apparently!) she tried to "make the nail" with the gel/acrylic, and I thought they would look fine based on what she told me but they look so thick so now my nails look big and bubbly. Yuck. She also didn't listen to how I told her I wanted my nails painted. If they weren't hurting so bad, I'd go back today and have someone else file down the thickness and re-do them. I ended up going home after paying $33 plus tip and I tried to file them down in thickness myself and I re-painted them because she did a sloppy job because she was rushing because it was close to 8 PM when they close. The next time I go in, I will only see David or Sam for the nails because my experience the other day with the lady was so upsetting, especially for the price. I absolutely love this place. I regularly come in every 2 weeks for the last 6months. The message chair is fantastic not to rough on the back and clean. I do know they have specials on pedis but I always upgrade to the 35$ one. It has this foaming processes on your legs up to your knees; that just makes you melt. I call it the "love" part.You walk-in and someone is close to the door to say hello. I 99%of the time make a appointment the day before I go in. Never been told no. I found my favorite nail tech; his name is David. He's makes sure you like the nails; I really like mine pointy. And so far he has the best at the shape. So I definitely recommend this place.I've been getting my eyebrows done here for almost 2 years. Which is why I trusted them enough to start to get my nails done here on the regular. I've been coming to 5 Star Nails for quite a bit of time and they always take care of me. My mom and I don't go to any other place but this one. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. They recently underwent remodeling and it looks lovely in the salon. I am a valued customer and they always take good care of me when I am there. All the nail technicians do a beautiful job on everything..... They are very clean and I just love coming here. I would recommend everyone to go to 5 star nails. I always get a manicure gel no chip and my eyebrows done and they never disappoint me.
