Absolutely wonderful experience here! The inside is beautiful and relaxing. They offer a wide array of choice and pay great attention to cleanliness. I love the disposable tub liners utilized, made me feel so much better right from the get go! I had my pedicure done by Bobbie Dee and holy cow was she great! I never heard about this place until yesterday. My sister and I were going out to get our nails did. So, she looks up nail salons in Peoria and this was the first place that popped up. Oh my goodness! Loved this place. It is pricier than where I use to go but their attention to hygiene (disposable tub liners, disposable tools, and autoclaved tools) and patron comfort (amazing chairs, footrests that raise to support your legs during treatment, and complimentary wine) are surpassed by none locally. I had a young lady by the name of Tina doing my nails. When I came in they were a hot mess, but she got them looking beautiful for my event the next day. She was awesome, I love what she did with my nails, they looked like a fresh set when she finished. She was very social with me I enjoyed the time spent in her chair. Five of us, the women and two men went to celebrate my daughter's birthday and we had a great time! The ladies for Mani/pedis while the men got deluxe pedicures. The chairs are wonderful! The smoothies were terrific!! Also I love the fact that they discard the basin liner and bubble tubing after each client so you know it's clean!! Can't wait for our next visit!! There is one thing though while we understand that some of the ladies may not be fluent in English it does make you feel like they're taking about you, making fun of you when they start conversing in their native language and laughing when nothing funny had happened. I spend $63 for a pedicure. The place is nice but the service SUCK. The lady who did my pedi (Cindy) specks CHINESE with another lady who sits 2 chairs down and Im Chinese I can understand what re they talking about (yes about me and it's not good guys). The massage was so RUSH and last only 10min then they wrap my foot with the wax and left me sit there for 10min with nothing. With $63 in somewhere else I can have a better service with much longer massage, real fruit detox and 10min HOT STONE massage plus the tradition massage. I don't mind to spend $63 for a pedicure but with this service IM DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYBODY HERE. Beside the nice decoration their service ARE NOT WORTH IT. Showed the nail tech a picture of the shape I wanted. She did the complete opposite. Also, I corrected her and she continued to do the wrong thing just to hurry to her next client. If I could give no stars I would Very rude Chinese people I had been going there for 2 years every two weeks every time I came in was treated like they had never seen me before and just kinda rude more felt like that was just their culture i don't know The last time I went my nails cost 15 so I tipped 20% of the total price like I do every where and they told me I need to tip five dollars. I was just so shocked and the lady cut my finger. It was worth a five dollar tip nor would I have tipped that if it was. Zen may be a little pricey but it is definitely worth it!! Great atmosphere and service. I have been coming here since they opened and never have a complaint! I had a mani/pedi done about two years; however, my review saved as a draft for some reason.I made an appointment and when I arrived, the very young receptionist was too busy hanging out with her friend, one of the nail techs to do her job. I was greeted by the owner instead. I like the decor and the place is nice. I actually found the music very relaxing, contrary to another reviewer. I felt the tech did a much more thorough job doing my pedicure than my manicure, no trimming of the cuticles. I don't mind a lack of conversation as I hate making chit chat or answering personal questions about myself (I guess I'm odd that way as a woman. I loathe chatting it up with strangers.) Anyway, after over 2 hours of getting all my nails done, my tech had me remove my pedi shoes for whatever reason. As soon as I got in my car to drive away, I noticed smudges on my fingernails and looked down to see smudges on my toe nails as well. None of my nails were dry. I had noticed that the fan on the dryer seemed pretty weak when I was sitting under the dryer. In fact, another customer had her nails smudge while we were sitting under the dryers. If I had paid for the services myself, I would have gone back inside and had my nails fixed. However, I was using a gift card I'd been given so I wasn't out any money except the tip. I was recommended to Zen Nail Lounge by a friend at work, as I'm pretty new to the area.  I came in for a pedicure for some 'me time' on my birthday.  Overall I thought it was a really nice experience.  However, they did have a missed opportunity in that they do offer beverages (complimentary bottled water) and smoothies, and while I had to wait about 30 minutes for my pedicure, I was sitting at their 'bar' waiting and no one ever asked if I wanted a beverage, even though the gentleman who seemed to be the 'bartender' was behind the bar washing glasses, and made a couple smoothies for others, he never even said hello despite making eye contact a couple times.  I would have gladly purchased a smoothie to sip on while I waited.  I suppose they can keep costs down if they don't ever offer the complimentary water to anyone.  That was my only real 'complaint' if you can call it that.  The environment is quite nice, and I like that they use disposable tub liners for each pedicure.  My tech was not very talkative, though she seemed engaged in the conversation between the tech and the customer in the chair next to me.  She did a fine job, even re-doing the polish on my big toe after having red streaks show up from the topcoat.  Their pricing was reasonable - and what I expect for nail services.  I'll definitely be back next time I need a pedi, and will probably try the manicure services at some point as well. Meh, indeed. I tried walking in, but they were "incredibly busy", and recommended I make an appointment. So, I made my appointment, came back, and still had to wait 15 minutes before I was seen. Then, I received a so-so gel manicure (she refused to apply a third coat of the polish, there was no cuticle softener used, under a minute spent on the hand massage, etc.). My friend loves this place and is a regular here, so I was excited to try it. The first thing I noticed when I entered was the smell. Ooooh that smell.Can't you smell that smellOoooh that smellThe smell of death surrounds youAnd it wasn't Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars. It was a chemical overload. Most salons have some chemical odor permeating around but this place had it so strong I had to exhale and cover my face while picking out my polish color. Second thing I noticed, it was super crowded...so nothing really Zen about this place. The sitting area had nice enough massage chairs and the lady did a nice job. The price was a little steep for just a pedi (~50 bucks) and when I asked for flowers as my design I got zig zags, pretty zig zags, but nevertheless not quite a flower. Not sure if it was a language barrier or she just didn't give a F.  Anyway, I'm easy going so I was fine with it, but I'm assuming someone else might have had a diva fit. Zero stars. Had the worst experience of my life here. I brought my husband and my bridesmaids here for manicures the day before the wedding and they did a horrible job. I showed the workers a simple picture of white nails and chunky glitter on the ring finger and my shellac was super lumpy and not many options available. All the other girls nails where lumpy too. The bridesmaids had a nude color instead of the white and it was the color of pepto bismol. During the manicure on my husband they sliced his finger and painted over the blood with clear coat... When I expressed that I was not happy how my nails turned out they looked at each other and started laughing and then told me that they couldn't do anything else and that they thought it was cute. Went here after a coworker recommended it and had a terrible experience. It was my first time here and I walked in and checked in. I was barked at to "pick color" and was not sure where the gel polish was. Then once I had my color, I was standing by the desk waiting and I was told to sit down. Then I was told to sit in this other chair. When my nail tech came, she made me move again. She would not cut my nails to the length I wanted them to be and each nail was a different shape. I had to go home and file them myself. There is also imperfections in my polish, like air bubbles and fuzz. I will not be returning to Zen. Read Less

Visiting Peoria and decided to get a mani/pedi with the family yesterday. Pedicure experience was fine, nothing special. Decided to try a gel manicure for the first time due to my job being so hard on my regular nail polish. The girl was horrible and sloppy. First she starts doing my nails while I'm still in the chair for the pedicure, whatever. But with the awkward angle of my hands I didn't realize she had cut me not once, but three times; it was when I felt the burn of the alcohol she doused my nails with when I looked down and noticed the oozing blood (great, my nursing mind is ticking with the thought of infection). Second, I keep my nails in a square shape, I told her just shorten them but keep the shape, so of course she rounded them out. Third, she raced through the polish application and its sloppy, nail polish up on the cuticles and the side skin. I could do a better job with my left hand. $10 dollars off, big woop. No offer to fix it, no sorry; I shouldnt have even left the small tip I did but The pedicure lady did fine.  I've been in absolute s**t hole nail salons and have had better manicures and pedicures for cheaper. 30 bucks for a basic pedicure on a Tuesday night? Ripoff (not sure what gel manicures go for at other places). I stopped into Zen today (Friday afternoon) without an appointment to see if I could get a pedicure. The place was hopping, but the nice gentleman behind the counter checked and it turned out that yes, they could fit me in. It was my first time in and I was surprised by the size and overall bustle of the place, but in a good way. They had lots of interesting polish colors to choose from. My nail tech was Katy, and she was very nice and polite. She showed me a menu of four pedicure options and prices, so no surprises ahead. She did a great, detailed job on my nails, shaping and polishing them just right. As busy as they were, I found the atmosphere relaxing and laid back. I'm happy to make Zen my new go-to nail place. Making an appointment here is key! I've only ever had to wait longer than 10 minutes one time out of probably 50! The best techs are Cindy and Theresa. Theresa is really fast and will do lots of variations like ring finger a different color, sparkle top coat and she's really good with designs. Cindy is so meticulous, not a flaw to be found anywhere on my nails but she is too focused to talk much (which I like). I always get the gel polish and it lasts perfectly until it's just too grown out to keep wearing it. The longest I've worn it without any chipping or peeling is 8 weeks. The only thing I don't like about this location is the music! It's so terrible, always some of kind of bizarre abstract chimes or high pitched wailing. It is the total opposite of relaxing because it's so incredibly annoying. Bring headphones or talk a lot with the tech! Read Less

The pedicure itself was very relaxing after a long week. My nail tech didn't talk to me but I wasn't too concerned since I just wanted to unwind.I looked over the price book and noticed that the pedicure with paraffin wax was $55 or I could get the hot stone pedicure with add-on paraffin wax for same price... So I opted for that one. When I was leaving they said I owed $60... I looked in two more booklets and the price still said hot stone $50 and add $5 for paraffin wax. I am not sure how this equals $60 and the manager argued with me. I am not above paying the additional $5 but please advertise prices correctly. Anyway, he did only charge me $55 in the end. This was the worst service. First thing is the nail tech didn't talk to me at all I had to speak to her in order for her to speak she just sat me down and started  on my nails. I got a full set of acrylic nails. She didn't clip my cuticles  or hang nails. Some are shaped crooked the Polish is dull. It was awkward  the whole time. Pretty great!They have an outstanding selection of gel polish colors. Easily 7-8x more than the other 4 places i've been.Their manicurists do a pretty great job! The finished product is professional and quite artfully done.One of the few places i've been to where they do cuticle work. A good job at that as well.They also try to accommodate if you want any nail art done.So far received a snowflake in Dec, and skull in Jan.Received many a compliment on my beautiful nails.If I had one thing to mark them down on, it would be the lack of being able to communicate.The ladies either only speak enough English to ascertain what you want done, or are very difficult to understand.No light hearted chit chatting or conversation.But in the grand scheme of things, that's not really any thing to complain about.You're sure to be happy with a manicure here! What I did not like is at the checkout, the lady who did my no chip and the check out lady looked at my nails extensively and then had a conversation in their native language. My sister and I came here last minute after a terrible phone experience with L'Amour nails. The place is huge and very nicely decorated. My husband actually wanted to wait in the waiting area because he thought it was so nice. The selection is huge!Lots of gel and Shellac choices. The lady that did mine didn't quite do the shape of nail I wanted so I had to correct her a few times. I did feel bad that I didn't have a picture. The color is beautiful.They were so fast! They did it in 1 hour 15 minutes whereas I've stayed over 1.5 hours to 2 hours before. I got a Gel Polish change hands and feet- $55. Can't beat!! Read Less

Meh. It was just okay to me. The lady who did my manicure was a little stand-offish. I kind of felt like she was inconvenienced with the fact she had to so my nails. My gel manicure was done rather swiftly and my nails are already chipping. As for my pedicure, I sat for at least 30 minutes if not longer before someone even started on me. Again, the pedi felt very rushed and yes, that is chipping as well. Maybe the whole place was just overwhelmed as it was kind of busy, but they should have been prepared since the party I was with made the appointment well in advance. Read Less

Fabulous new place!!  Nice and big inside, brand new.  Everyone there was SO nice.  Lots of different pedicure and manicure choices.  One of the best foot/leg massages I've ever had.  Ask her to just put a design on my toe-was the cutest thing I ever had, all my friends were jealous.  I live in Michigan but visit often and this is where I come!!
