As a nail tech I stopped in to have someone complete a fresh overlay. To my surprise the nail tech cut several corners which are code violations. My overlay chipped the same day. I reached out to the manager and was told to come back, I came back and waited 1.5 hrs to only be asked to come back the next day because no one felt comfortable taking ownership for the work. So not worth it, Mistake #1 nail technician cut my nails before asking how I would like them, once I told him he said sorry but I cut already. So obviously he couldn't do what I wanted him to do. Mistake #2 He is poorly mannered I had my hand accidently on top of his acetone and was to busy watching the fashion show on the screen directly behind him.... I realized he stopped working so I looked down, he was waiting for me to move my hand, could have said excuse me but instead proceed to wave his hand as if in a way to make me move (shooing me off). Mistake # 3 Gel had dripped under my nails and he did not remove it. Mistake # 4 His nail polish strokes are dreadfull and obvious. I went back to speak with someone in charge owner of course is out of town and they claimed they would fix it. Got to my fixing appt late by 8 mins and they asked me to reschedule. I just don't get it, I am a paying customer who is looking a permanent nail shop to come into every two weeks. I recently had a baby and going to my old shop in which I attended for 12 yrs every 2 weeks like clockwork has become a bit of un inconvenience due to distance. Read Less

Came in for a manicure on 2/16 at 3 pm to get a regular manicure, I Mama avid manicure so I know great service when I see it. The technician gave a decent manicure, however, her polish technique was sub par. She bypassed my thumb and didn’t even notice until she was going back to apply the second coat of polish. Afterwards she applied the top coat to which I asked before she got to my thumb, “Are you going to apply a a second coat?” She replied that there was no need because she applied a thicker coat the first time. After drying for a while I left and immediately when I got home the thumb nail had cracked. By Sunday 2/18 I noticed that another nail had cracked. I returned to the shop and asked for them to be rapainged as I was just in there on Friday and was informed that “They tell customers that a regular manicure only last two days and they encourage customers to get the no chip!” I informed the tech that I have never heard such a thing as when I get my nails done at Old Town I can for sure go at least 5 days before seeing a chip with a regular manicure. I hate that I did not have time to go to my regular salon and that I wasted 12.00 on a two day manicure. I will never return Read Less

Was disappointed in my service here. I got a basic manicure and pedicure done. I picked out a pretty OPI navy blue polish and went over to my chair. The lady doing my service was very quiet and didn't engage with me much during my appointment, but the other workers all seemed very friendly and talkative. When she went to paint my nails she shook up the polish and added a clear liquid into the polish bottle. I'm guessing the polish was running out or had gotten a bit clumpy. This made the polish color much more transparent than I had hoped, and she put several droppers full of the liquid into the polish bottle by the time she finished all of my nails. While I was pretty happy with the final result of my nails, I was really upset when my nails began chipping the next day! I was not engaging in anything that could cause chips, and I was very frustrated. I can't help but wonder if the liquid added into the polish caused this... Overall, I may give this place another chance because they are located near our home, they have good prices, and the place seemed clean and well managed. I'll post an update after I visit again! Seriously one of the most disrespectful nail establishments in Oak Park. I've lived here for quite some time and I have never felt so unvaled as a customer. I went in to get my nails done by DA. She did them terribly. It was obvious that she didn't care about giving good service to me. I got a no chip manicure, pedicure, lip, and eyebrow wax. She rushed through everything. Every time I've gotten a manicure my cuticles have been removed but for some reason DA didn't remove my cuticles. I asked her why and she said I didn't need them removed..lies, because I went home and was able to remove them myself. My pedicure smeared hours after getting my toes done. I even brought about 5 different yellow polishes to DA and told her I want my toes and nails to match. She picked two totally different yellows!! While getting my waxes she didn't clean off my skin before or after the hair removal, and did no extra plucking or cutting. I ended up breaking out on my forehead. The day after I left the salon my nails began to chip. I went in the same day (day after getting the mani pedi) and asked to get a repair. They told me DA was out of town for 10 days and they prefer for the person who did the nails to repair the nails (makes sense). Well mind you, 10 days is a long time to go back for a repair. Multiple nails have broken and cracked because of the AWFUL manicure I was given. I went back to get my nails redone and polished because I was told that they would get done with no charge by two different front desk ladies. Once I sat in DA's chair she told me she was only going to fix 3 nails! I was so confused. Why would anyone go back 10 days after getting their nails done to get only 3 nails fixed. I demanded they do my manicure over again, cuticles included, and she said she'd have to charge me because I want a different color. I said fine, I'll get the same color but my nails are grown out it's time for new nails. They refused and I left. Seriously if you go here DO NOT GO TO DA. She sits in the second chair on the left. She will do you wrong. I spent nearly $90 that day. Gave her a $15 tip and basically got crapped on. I'll never return to this place. Oh, and while I was there, a black women wanted tanning service and was denied because they told her it wouldn't work on her...HOW RUDE. First, on arrival the girl at the front desk is nice, helped me out quickly. There was an overwhelming amount of color options, all good brands, and all bottles were full and looked in good conditions. I asked for mani/pedi no color on mani. The pedicure felt rushed, the girl next to me had sat down before me yet we finished at the same time. She barely cut my cuticles and didn't cut as much as I'd asked her to. The polish on the nail came out fine but I don't like it when the polish doesn't go all the way to the cuticle (doesn't last as long). When I sat down for mani she was confused as to why I didn't want color. Then charged just as much as if I had gotten color. Again, no cuticle cutting, poor filing. Aside from wanting to gripe about the obvious arrogance of some of the technicians, the poor ventilation, lack of a backbone on the owner, and the ridiculous treatment for regulars who actually make appointments, as well as appointment makers being shunned for walkins. (Which makes no sense) I'd like to further more discuss my disappointment with the constant poor treatment I received from my always booked, busy technician Kim. Not only was I constantly hassled to get a no chip manicure which I dislike but I was also constantly ridiculed on the brand and or color of nail polish I chose. Even if I picked out a brand of Kim's choice, I was ridiculed on the color being not to her preference. Where did I miss that she was the one paying for my service or better yet that this wasn't a "service industry" in which she is rendering the service I'm paying for. Not only was I treated like a despicable human being for never being to her preference or liking but I was asked to come in later in the day because my regular mani, salon opening time- appointments were making her leave later in the day then when she should be getting out because her regular (higher paying/no chip/ fake nail) clients couldn't get in for the time they wanted so they were arriving late for their appointments which was causing her to have to leave later and work later than everyone else. I explained I couldn't understand how my early appointment and arriving on time was to blame for her having to leave later. I still don't understand why I should have to change my appointment time to appease her other clients who are arriving later than the time they scheduled?! How is this my issue?! I was also told that because she is booked with appointments she can't take walkins either. So why is this my issue and why does this have to effect me being a weekly client?! Keep in mind, I'm not cheap. I tip $8 every week for my $12 manicure and she never takes the full half hour on my manicure. She wraps me up so fast and poorly within 20 minutes sometimes less. Not to mention how she has been giving me awful pedicures lately too which she speeds through. Sometimes I have to wait for 20-30 minutes because she decides to squeeze in someone else on my premade appointment time. After weeks of getting nasty glares from her, constantly ridiculed, and treated like a disappointment to human kind, I realized I was walking away feeling awful about myself and paying money to someone whose job is to do the complete opposite. Kim, your job is to make people feel good, you work in the beauty industry where people are paying you to make them feel pretty not like crap especially to be making $8 cash in twenty or less minutes is really not something to be upset about!!!!!  I'm not mean, nasty, or rude either. I'm very polite and kind. I am actually a partially retired Esthetician & Makeup Artist. I would never have treated a client this way for having a service that wasn't as much money as I wished or wanted.  I referred this place for years to so many people in the neighborhood. I buy my kid's teachers gift cards, I tip well, I had people in my family going here, I'm on time, and rarely cancel unless you want me spreading my unwanted sickness to you. To be treated this way all of a sudden because you feel like you're not making enough money off of me is completely wrong and disrespectful especially under these circumstances. And for Nina (the owner) to simply nod and agree that it's not right is ridiculous too. I literally had the client next to me come up to Nina & I and say that this was awful to hear and see that I was treated this way. I considered bouncing around to another technician but honestly this place and the poor treatment is not worth my money or time. These places are a dime a dozen and the neighborhood has some better options with better services and nicer technicians. Please don't go here. I don't write many reviews -- I'm generally not that picky. But I think the manicure I got this week warrants a review. First, I think it's always important to mention the pros instead of just focusing on the negative: 1. The salon was clean 2. I liked the salon's atmosphere 3. Everyone was very friendly Despite this, my manicure was the worst I've ever gotten. I got a no chip manicure for $35. The salon didn't have the nail sample wheels for its gel colors, so I had to pick my color based on a little sticker on the bottle. Because of this, I didn't end up with a color I was very happy with. I was looking for a nude, and it was much whiter than I thought based on the bottle. And the man who did my nails even confirmed with me when I asked that it was nude. My finished manicure was, frankly, just ugly. My nails weren't filed straight/smoothly and the color was applied unevenly, and so was lumpy in some places and see-through in others. There was nail polish on my skin, which I couldn't remove myself because it was gel. By the next day, several of the tips -- because they were filed and painted unevenly -- were chipped. I got my nails done because I had an interview. Frankly, I was embarrassed of how they looked and tried not to be expressive with my hands when talking. By the third day, I couldn't stand the manicure anymore, and so went and got the polish removed at another place. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to get my nails done again so soon after. Read Less

I noticed this spot before having breakfast next door. My eyebrows needed some waxing and since I was stopping in I thought maybe I should get a basic manicure as well . Well.... didn't get to do neither! I walked in to find the receptionist area with no one there. Okay, I get it most likely they were assisting clients in the back area. Five minutes passed by and none of the techs even bothered to check to see who had walked in / what services were needed( the door had a sound sensor). So I just stood there waiting, then after getting annoyed I just decided to leave. Looking at the previous review I'm glad I didn't get any services by this place . Very disappointed in the service; this is one of the worst mani/pedis than I have ever paid for.   The tech was not at all friendly and would tap me and point to sit, get up, and wash my own hands. Probably the worst place I've been to for a manicure. They did take me right away. The girl who did my nails hated her job. She never greeted me just pointed to where I was suppose to sit. I'm not asking for high end spa services here but a simple hello would have been fine. She rushed painting that my polish kind of got too thick and didn't look smooth. I think during the whole service she said one word. Which is "pay". Not "you pay now".....just "pay". Then she pointed... yes...POINTED to where I go to for my nails to dry. She made me grab my own bag and pull out my own chair (which ended up ruining a couple nails because they were still wet). Didn't say bye or thank you for the 40%tip I gave her. She seemed miserable so I over tipped. I've worked at a hair salon before and I never got offended with over tippers so that wasn't it. Must just be a miserable place to work. And on top of that.... Most of their polishes were old. FYI... when you see the oil and color separating... that means the polish is expired. Either they were left in heat or sun or are just old. I've been coming here for 2 years and I've never left unsatisfied with a service. I usually let Kim or Ming do my nails, but there is a man that does the acrylic/gel nails and let me tell you he is amazing at doing different nail shapes. He does a good job in Pedi's too. He massaged my legs and at the bottom of my feet. Felt amazing! I got regular pedi and acrylic nails for $60, minus the tip. He cleaned his tools before he started working on me and if you don't like something on your nails he's not the type to get mad. So I recommend him. I forgot to ask for his name but he's very good. I really want to like this place. It's affordable, it's close to my home and I've been going for about two years. As other reviews have suggested, I've had a couple of bad experiences with Lisa too. The owner Nina, who has always been kind and professional, recommended Truc, who I have been loyal to for over a year, but now I've had enough. First things first, they do NOT honor appointments. I consistently wait 30 minutes and sometimes it's more. When I've been asked to rinse my hands (takes 30 seconds), they literally start on someone else and make me wait 20 minutes. It is terribly unprofessional.But this last time I was there was the worst. As usual, I was waiting for about 30 minutes and in the pedicure chair. The cap from the jet fell off and I notified the blonde woman at the front with the glasses. She tells me to "screw it into the front" and turns away. I follow her instructions and the jet blade cut my right thumb nail in half. It took over three weeks to heal.I started bleeding in the chair, and the woman up front didn't do anything. I asked for anti-bacterial/ a band aid and she just looked at me and said, "let me see if we have one." My lady Truc who was still making me wait apologized and asked me if I was alright, but I had already had enough. I consistently wait 20-40 minutes. No one except for Nina is professional there, and when their pedicure chair chopped off half of my nail, they didn't even follow up to ask me if I was ok/ get me a band aid. Read Less

For anyone who lives in or around the Oak Park area, please don't ever go to the nail salon Polished. I was going to treat my m-i-l to a mani/pedi before leaving on vacation and this was the wrong place to go.Yes it is an Asian salon and the first thing they did was try to use all the same files and implements on me that they just used on the last person without cleaning them (they also where using dirty files and implements on my m-i-l). They when I said something to the tech, she got her stuff and left. She took all the same stuff and went to work on another person just 3 chairs away from where I was. Again without cleaning any of the stuff.Then I sat there with my feet in the bowl waiting and no one came to work on me. I asked the tech who was working on my m-i-l if anyone was coming back and she said "I don't know". Meanwhile, the tech who was working on me was then talking to what might have been the manager about me, still no one came. So I got out of the bowl and very loudly responded that I refuse to let anyone in that salon touch me.Now my poor m-i-l who was almost half done was sitting there feeling bad that I had to wait on her so she didn't even get polished so that I didn't have to wait. We go up to the counter where the lady, I think was the manager, almost said nothing to us about it. Then when she did say something and I proceeded to tell her the problem, she acted like she had no idea this had happen (though we know she did).We ended up paying for half of the service and leaving immediately. I then posted this all on my fb page with a pic as well as a check in. The only reason I'm checking in is so everyone knows where this shitty place is.Almost immediately someone from the salon posted this response to my post: "Colleen. You have violated the rights of our customers by including them in this picture.. If you wanted them pictured in this photo you should of have asked them for their consent.. One of my regular customers has voiced concerns regarding a violation of her rights regarding this picture that you took... She is a regular customer over the past 5 years and has never had any issues some other this being said, all she can say is that you may of being having a bad day because polished nail salon always goes upper and beyond in customer service and always exceed in customer service which can be verified with anyone of our loyal customers..."The nerve of some people. This was my reply to them: "Well, I will take down the pic but you guys are violating everyone of your customers by not sanitizing your implements, nail files and probably more. I was having a good day until i came your salon. I am a licensed nail tech so you can't get away with making me believe that what you are doing is right. I have been a client her for some years...Lisa is the manicurist who works with me, she is amazing and the  best... Every time I need assistance  or suggestions with anything from color to the length and the care of my nails... It is on point... Got my eyebrows "threaded" here and it was awful.  I have little cuts all along the top of my brow.  I will post the pictures.  It hurts so badly and there is still hair all under my arches.  She basically did nothing but cut the skin above my brows which seems impossible since its with a piece of thread but she managed to destroy my face.  I'll never set foot in here again. Shellac polish versus no chip. Apparently they are different and I am not sure I fully understand how. Both last 2 weeks, are applied the same and removed the same way. Polished offers both but they are priced differently. Shellac $35 No Chip Manicure $45I am torn about rating this place for several reasons. Mainly because service was great. I had one of the best pedicures ever. It was very thorough and the massage was amazing. I would recommend any and every person go to either Minh or Kim. The other is the location is ideal. Lake Street near Harlem is convenient in that it is easy to get to by car, train or Metra. And finally, the hours are great. During summer months, they are open until 8pm on weekdays. All of these great aspects are the reason for the 3 star rating. The quality of the products, pricing and selection were very disappointing. Selection The salon has a limited selection of shellac and no chip colors and offer very few brands. In particular, there were no Perfect Match colors or brands which offer a no chip/shellac and regular color. I am not a fan of soaking off polish on my toes. I prefer regular polish. Their selection made it impossible to have the same color on my nails and toes. 1 star for this reason alone.Products Polished has a serious problem with its polish. I have bubbles in my polish on two nails and the first coat of polish wrinkled up on several nails. While my tech was able to fix some of the wrinkles,  they are still somewhat  visible. My experience tells me it rolls up when it is thick or old. At $35-$45, this should not happen. Pricing The pricing is on par with other Oak Park salons. However, the selection and products are not reflective of the prices sought. The lower priced suburban places have more to offer its clients. Read Less

I made an appointment at this nail salon and was placed in the chair, however; the person wasn't there to do the pedicure. So my feet were in cold water for 30 minutes. I would have rather waited in the chair, instead of waiting in cold water. This owner only appreciate the people that comes to her the year around.
