Got a gel pedicure by an extremely new nail tech... Didn't know until she did my no chip Mani... Don't waste your money on the Gel experience, very overrated. I guess if you're a small child the experience would be great. Male owner was very polite. Nail tech such a doll, but Gel pedicure $50 + $35 for no chip that chipped the exact same day with bubbles underneath polish clearly showing... Not my cup of tea. If you use a card you'll be charged a $2 convenience fee...soooo tacky... They truly prefer cash. I truthfully give it a low rating because I feel I've been took/Conned/treated unfairly due to not given the option to say if I wanted an experienced nail tech or one who's only been a tech less than a year. $87+ $5 tip just to have 2 nails to peel up and to see bubbles in my nails wasn't worth the drive far south suburbs to oak Park to go 2 days later and pay $63 to get no chip Mani and pedicure done over. I had a great experience here! Mel did my pedicure and full set and she did an amazing job. Today was my first visit and I was not disappointed. Everyone was very friendly and courteous so I have zero complaints. If you haven't visited before I highly suggest the jelly pedicure it was amazing and so relaxing! My first and last time going to this place. Extremely unprofessional. The senior tech had began to prep me walked away for about 20 or more minutes talking to I assume the owner. While she was doing my nails she took a break to eat. I've never had that experience any where else. It took her 3 to 4 hours to do my nails. I didn't even have a whole day with the nails and one cracked off. I called to complain and I had to make an appointment to get one nail fixed. I'm pretty sure that they don't specify anywhere that it's by appointment only. I got my nails done on a Thursday but wasnt able to get my nail fixed until Tuesday because of work. Well when Tuesday came 5 of the plastic nails had came off the gel nail, they would get caught on anything. As the day went on two of them broke. I decided not to even bother going back. The worst experience getting my nails. These nails were definitely not worth $112 dollars. You're experience means nothing when your quality is horrible. Read Less

Loved my experience! We recently had a spa party of 20 women today and the team did an excellent job. And they rocked it out for us! They are usually closed on Sundays but they opened for us and we all got serviced in a timely manner . They too their time with each service and made sure we were comfortable AND happy with our outcomes. The owners were very pleasant and the establishments was ran smoothly. Atmosphere is always upbeat and pleasant. My nail tech Shawnda always listens and does a phenomenal job with my nails. I appreciate her because she is patient and kind....this type of customer service goes a long way! The only con is the amount of time spent on your services. My last visit was over 4hrs long. This was my first experience with Glitter and sadly will be my last. I usually schedule an appointment with a Nail Salon downtown but since it was very close to my home I decided to give Glitter a try. To start, the employees and staff in the salon are very welcoming and sweet. I had a no chip service that was completed by Kristen which seemed to be quality work, however, approximately 4 days after the service was completed my polish began to chip like crazy. In efforts to have the salon correct the error I called Glitter on that same day and spoke to the receptionist (which to no fault of her own)could only offer me to come in as a walk in on certain days before 5pm or schedule an appointment which would be 1 week out. I explained to the receptionist that I would not make it by 5pm and if I could walk in at 5:30pm just to get the service corrected . I was denied that option as she stated walk-ins have to be in the salon by 5pm. I ended up speaking to Tony which explained to me that he could not reserve a walk in time at 5:30pm because they would not have any staff available to perform the service at that time. I explained  to him waiting a week for a correction is unreasonable being that I shouldn't have been back for two weeks and that I already paid for a service that was not rendered properly. Tony, although with difficulty managed to scheduled me 3 days after that call. When I went back for the correction it had been a full 8 days later from the initial appointment. When I finally went in for the correction, to my surprise , I was placed with another nail technician in which I was initially charged  full price for the no chip and after making a case and point I was charged half price. The nail tech was so kind and did a wonderful job but unfortunately all of that was overshadowed by other factors:Poor turnaround time to correct a service Difficulty accommodating the clients that have experienced an issue.Although walking in may seem like a good idea.(Asking a customer that has already paid, to walk in for a correction as if they haven't already had the service performed and paid is distasteful. Clear Communication: When management explains to a customer that they will have the service "corrected or completely redone" don't expect for your customer to pay for a technician error and if you do communicate that to them before they arrive. 2 Stars are only for the friendly staff and 2nd Nail technician (Shanda) Read Less

I had been going to this nail salon since October, and had a wonderful nail tech Jojo. She always does a wonderful job on my nails and she is a very sweet person. But the owners of this salon are unprofessional and disrespectful. As an owner/management you do not yell across the salon all your employees business in front of clients. They have done this twice and it’s ridiculous. As a Manager myself, I would never do that, as whatever problem you are having with that employee, is supposed to stay between management and the employee. I have a regular nail salon place in norridge, but I was running errands in Oak Park and really needed a manicure. So I looked on yelp for a place in oak park with high ratings. I honestly don't know why this place has such a positive score. The woman who did my nails was very nice, but other than that I really don't have anything good to say. My biggest problem is that it's obvious they don't provide freshly cleaned equipment for each customer. I swear they pulled cuticle clippers from a drawer that obviously were not sanitized, just often reused cuticle clippers rolling around lose in a drawer. The emery board and buffing sponge thing were also obviously recently used (you could see the white residue from other peoples' dead skin). I really wish I would have walked out. I will be watching my hands closely the next few days, because I'm worried I'm going to get an infection. The manicure finished product was also not great. I'll be getting a new manicure from my regular place next weekend, because I really don't want to wear this particular no chip manicure for more than a week. Read Less

Having recently moved to Oak Park, I set out to find a new nail salon. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I called in and scheduled an appointment for a full set and a pedicure. The lady on the phone was very nice and told me to be there by 5:00pm so I could get both things done. I arrived at 4:55pm and was greeted by, who I'm assuming, was the person who helped me on the phone. I was also greeted by the eye rolling of the person who was going to do my nails. She never introduced herself and was quiet (and seemed mad?) while she started doing my nails. I was ok with it as not everyone is super talkative, I get it. We started with my full set. I endured her pushing my cuticles back with the scratchy end of the filing machine (ouch) and even drilling into my cuticle (double ouch!) without even a "sorry" coming out of her. At least she reacted quickly and applied drops of some blue liquid to stop the bleeding. My pinky finger blew up to the size of a small sausage and still, nothing. About half an hour later there was a bit of conversation and once she finished with my hands, she went on to do my pedicure. The pedicure was pretty good (which is why I'm not giving this place 1 star). While I was getting my pedicure done, a gentleman I'm assuming is the owner or the husband of the owner, offered me wine or water, which was necessary as I felt my fingers burning and pulsating after almost getting filed off!  The wine helped a little! The other people working there were funny and entertaining but still having a swollen and painful pinky, three days later, isn't fun. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. Read Less

The owner did reach out to me a couple of times to get me to change my review. I came from out of town and was really excited about having Tisa do my nails. I was in town for a short while before I had to fly to California to be the maid of honor in a wedding. I had confirmed my appointment and I assumed I had no worries. The day of my appointment they called me two hours before and attempted to switch my nail tech which I thought was very unprofessional considering the fact I had no idea who the techs were and their quality of work. The tech might've been new but my appointment was for 12:00 I was there promptly but she did get started until 12:30 wasn't done until 2:45  because I ask for the chrome nails when she was done they looked a hot mess but she was nice  I asked for the chrome nails to be removed I thought the nails looked ok in the salon but when I walked out and got a good it was up to glitter salon standards. Booked an appointment a couple months in advance, just to be disappointed when I found out they didn't order the crystals I specifically asked for. At first the owner said she forgot to order them. After that she claimed the shipment was late. How was the shipment late if she didn't even order them? This is not the first time they mess up. This is the 3rd time.... I will NEVER go back. Very unprofessional & no apology was given to me. They acted like I was the one that was wrong. It's a good thing Chicago has a lot of excellent nail techs. I received my first manicure recently, and I must say that the hospitality was superb, the quality and precision of the tech was phenomenal, the atmosphere, jovial and professional. They made me feel at ease, eliminated my apprehension, and welcomed me with a laughter filled Glitter Salon experience. I was elated by the outcome of the manicure. My masculinity remains in tact and my experience has altered my semi misogynistic views on manicures for men. I would surely recommended this establishment to anyone. I loved it. The environment and all! I'm used to walking into a quiet salon where the artists don't talk at all, but here? If you tell one of the girls something, everyone knows within seconds! In other words, the artists are the friendliest, funniest ladies you'll ever meet.Tissa (sp?) is the owner, who works among the other girls. I heard from my artist that it is nearly impossible to book an appointment with her, with most being regulars. Not as bummed though, because she is known to hold training sessions with her girls once a month or so.The girls who did our nails, Christa and Felicia, were so sweet. When we told Felicia that we were in a rush, she held off on her lunch and didn't even give us a frown. That's real professionalism, in my opinion. The only complaint I have is that it's only been a week since my mani but the layer of no-chip mani has started to peel off on four of my nails. :(Either way, I can't wait to be back for our couples pedicure. I went the other day for a jelly pedi after I saw videos on ig and was obsessed ever since. I had to try it.It. Was. Fantastic.You put your feet in the water and then they add the magic dust, you swish your feet, and BAM! Jelly bath for your feet. I purposely waited a week to write a review to see how it would hold up and my feet are as soft as the day they left the salon. I got an ombre nail design as well and that's still pristine. There is no denying that they are a trend setting salon.  Their stiletto shape nails are so on point.  Ballerina shape, Chrome nails, ombre nails, art, rhinestones, Marble, glow in the dark they did it first.  I have brought pictures of nail art i wanted on my nails and have left with a better version.  If i have ever had to wait was for a very little time and i was informed and offered water.  If there is any indication that their nail quality is good at times i can go three whole weeks without needing a fill or my pedicure color last for a good month or so and im always complimented on my nails everywhere I go.  I love this salon Im surprised by some of the reviews as the owners are very hands on and have an open door policy you can always contact them about your experience and they will address the issue on hand Read Less

Horrible customer service and the owner (Tisa) overcharges new customers. I called on a Friday afternoon and was told to come in the next day for a walk in appt with the owner. I arrived at 7:30am Saturday morning, a half hour before the salon opened. I was immediately told that the "wait list" was full and that there was no space available. There was only 1 other tech there, so I decided to let her do my fill instead. I inquired about the price of a fill and foil design for short nails. I was told by the front desk manager that it would be $50. But once I sat down, the owner told my nail tech to charge me $75. So, I decided on just a basic gel fill-in only. The tech told me the fill would cost $21. But after the service was rendered, the owner had the tech to charge me an extra $8 for the gel. Ridiculous.In addition to the up charging, the owner went on a loud rant in front of me and other customers about clients that she dislikes. It was so ghetto and unprofessional that I just shook my head. If you want to be treated with respect, DO NOT give this salon your time or money. I will never go back. Read Less

I'm so beyond disappointed in my first/last experience here. My normal nail tech was under the weather, so I had to find a back up plan, called here and was excited that they were taking walk-ins the day before NYE! I need a few repairs and a fill-in; I could tell from the start that the young lady was not experienced when she didn't bother to push my cuticles back nor remove the dead cuticles, she wasn't sure how to fix a nail that I had reglued, and she did not remove the n...ails that were broken, instead she attempted the build a new one with acrylic, which is something only an experienced tech can accomplish. Needless to say it looks a mess, because it's simply a block of acrylic, and I plan to take it all off next week. The issue is, the shop charges professional prices for mediocre service that are done by ppl who are not experienced; in used to paying a pretty penny for my set, but by professionals. I use to love glitter nail salon. I use to brag about this Salon to my clients. I put their flyers and business cards on display in my business because I loved how they did my nails, the atmosphere was warm, customer service was impeccable. Until... The owner started hiring new people who had absolutely no business sense or customer service skills. The manager (which I'm told) was a relative (red flag) don't hire family with smart mouths and attitude. One of the nail techs use to have me waiting. I'm a patient person so I didn't say anything. Until one day I was late and how convenient it was that day she was waiting on me. Then only to tell me she couldn't take me. Was very excited about coming to get my nails done for a big weekend- drove all the way from the South Loop. Had a 1pm appointment, arrived 10 minutes early, and the nail tech had me waiting for one hour to be seen. Soooo what was the point of making an appointment? I was also a first time customer. And I consider myself a patient person as I understand I may not be seen at 1:00 on the dot. But an hour is completely unprofessional and inconsiderate. My time is just as important as the nail tech's time, especially when I'm a paying customer. I got up and walked out and ended up getting my nails done by Maisha on 43rd and Lake Park and I LOVE them.
